Stayed in the bluffs spot 26. Space big enough for my 22ft trailer, my 4 door f150 and awning out with space for a tent too. I came here as a kid so I knew there was trains that went by at all hours. I'm a city boy so it didn't bother me. What did suck was the truck weight scales that had a guy on the loud speaker at 2am. Not the park's fault but people going there should know about it. I recommend spots 1-22. They are close to trail 1 where the surf break has a lifeguard and dogs are allowed (they are allowed on trail 6 too). Our spot had a nice fire pit with a quarter grate on it so we could cook on it if needed. They supplied a picnic bench which also had room next to it for a 4-6 person tent. The bluffs are just that, located on the top of the bluffs which means you need to take the trail down to the beach. They can be steep in some spots but not too difficult to navigate. At the top of each trail before you descend to the beach is a park bench where you can watch amazing views of sunrise/sunset. Trail one has the least amount of rocks. Trail 3 had nothing but rocks so bring water shoes. Even trail one beach would be better with water shoes. This is officially our 4th of July spot at least until our dog passes away (no fireworks were heard the entire time we were here!) Love it here. Staff is really really nice. By the way...this is a primitive site with no hook ups but the sewage dump and hose to refill grey water tanks are near by. We camped at San Onofre SB, San Onofre Bluffs Campground in a Travel Trailer.

No view of ocean except for a few spots at 100 to 115 I think. Very dusty, the trails to the beach are steep and some very difficult. We were camping by trail 3, it was hard to go down. Pebbly beach. It was noisy of space 33 where we were. Train passes very often and there is also a truck check point on the highway (wish is next to campsite) We had a fire ring and a picnic table, people were very quiet and polite. Our neighbors left because of all the noise the night before. Not sure I would want to return here. I guess it is and ok place to spend the night on your way somewhere, but not a destination to go to. We camped at San Onofre SB, San Onofre Bluffs Campground in a Motorhome.

San Onofre Bluffs Campground (south of San Clemente State Beach and San Mateo Campground). Typical state park campground. No hook ups. 3 free dump stations. $35 night (RV and tent same price). Large RV sites. Tent sites have trees and privacy between each space. About 1 block from beach. 12 nice easy walking trails to access beach (divided into 6 sections). Section 1 and 6 are dog friendly. Very friendly staff and park host. No gates that close. Generator hours are from 10 AM to 8 PM. Noise from trains and highway but easy to forget about it. Great views over the landscape to see the ocean. Visited over weekend and over half RV spaces were open. 15 minutes to shopping and fast food. Will return. We camped at San Onofre SB, San Onofre Bluffs Campground in a Motorhome.
