Great location. Noisy under the John Wayne airport path. Not a busy airport but you will definitely notice it. Bathrooms near us do not have showers. All others seem to. Water access is perfect for kayak. No restriction on x-pen fencing for our dogs. Great walk path. Dog run is small. Utilities hookup pedestals are great. Dirt parking for RV then concrete pads for patio, has a picnic table. Very nice pool an ;large laundry room. Did not use either. Bluff at the back of the park keeps the wind down. Off season is Quiet and nice. In season is probably a ZOO??? - beach89bum
Sep 2018 - $222.00
This was our first visit. We stayed over Labor Day weekend. The row of RV spaces that face the bay are spacious with a great view. But we could not justify that cost (almost $500/night) so we stayed one row back (at $290/night). This web page would not allow me to input a price higher than $222. Yes it was Labor Day weekend. I suspect that prices are lower during quieter times. Our space was 40' by 20'. We were able to fit with our toad. Our space was separated by chain link fence from our neighbors so there was little privacy. We could not level our RV. We didn't have enough blocks with us to compensate for the back to front slope. The sewer drains are about a foot off the ground so they don't gravity feed. The RV spaces are decidedly less than memorable but there are several good qualities to this campground. The staff was always helpful. In particular, the activities department staff were stellar. They hosted a variety of kids events each day starting at 11am. Our grandkids loved them. Most were free but some, like the "ice cream social" had a small charge. To us, the activities staff were the best part of this campground. The beach area on Back Bay was kept clean and is attractive. They have non-powered watercraft for rent, at very high prices ($20 to rent a life preserver for example). The pool area and bathrooms were kept clean and were well maintained. We saw staff patrolling around. But they appeared to be reluctant to enforce rules. People routinely double parked their cars and the 10pm quiet hour was merely a suggestion. We had to ask 4 people to move their cars on the morning that we left. I don't know if we will return. The inability to level, especially at these prices, and the hassles of draining the water tanks are likely more trouble than they are worth. - Gaucho Mac
Apr 2018 - $150.00
We spent a week there in a bay view site. Our site was plenty long enough for our 39' motorhome and still park our Jeep in the site. Sites are a little narrow but manageable. Easy to get in and out of although the roads do get tight when the campground is full. This is a great spot if your wanting to explore Newport. Disneyland is only 20 minutes away. Staff is nice but not overly friendly. Every site was cleaned and raked for the next visitor. Our kids love this place with lots to do. Our row of sites had a nice grassy area to hangout on while the kids played in the sand. The sites off the water are definitely tighter but cheaper. Only negative would be the utilities. Our post was loose and the sewer hook up is 8-10" off the ground which makes it hard to gravity drain the sewer. - Campn

Nice park, no sewer but water and electric were ok and easy hookup. The views are fabulous and the ocean is great. Drive down to the ocean walk under hwy 101 and the beach is yours! The sunsets are fabulous!! A bet tight to park but doable and worth it. - lgvig
May 2019 - $75.00
Nice park, great views and friendly staff plus helpful. Nice setup but no sewer hookups. Satellite service great hookups conveniently located. Space between campsites ok with lots of bushes between. #3 overlooked the ocean and lots of space to the south of our site. Parking the TV was a bit difficult but doable. Tight turn to park the rig but also doable. Would recommend this park. Lots to see and do around the area. - lgvig

A tad expense but the views are so worth it. Bathrooms are very newish and extremely clean. However, no hot water during our stay, this the less than perfect rating. The staff is very friendly and great customer service. - PattiBill

We stayed here because we had been evacuated from a nearby campground due to flooding rains. It's first-come first-served, but once there you can pay for as many nights as you want, 14-day limit. Or you pay by the day. They accept credit cards now. There are a few full-hookup sites on pavement, and many more around the edges of that area on dirt. ALL of the dirt ones were closed when we were there, and for good reason with all the rain they had been having. The electrical hookup is 20-amp unless you pay $70 for the duration of your stay for them to turn on the 30 or 50-amp. Not bad if you're staying the 14 days, but we weren't sure so we didn't opt for that. We were able to run the generator until 10 pm at night, and plugged in a heavy extension cord so we could run a space heater. It also ran the TV, coffee pot, and computer, and allowed us to recharge our devices. Not bad! The price is a good deal compared to other RV parks in the area, where you can expect to pay $55 - $255 per night. There are a few state parks in the area, but you have to be small to fit in those. The fee is lower, but the $15 daily entrance fee puts it right up there equal to or higher, without full hookups at most of them. Check the website for major events that might cause the RV area to be closed to the public. Enter at gate 5 off of Arlington - the security entrance. Phone number is posted if gate is closed. - Denise and Glenn

RV, full hook ups in OC? WHAT? I've lived here all my life (59 years) and just NOW heard of this! Am spending the year on the road in my RV, and came home to see family. Where to go? OC Fairgrounds? WHAT?
Security is wonderful. Found my spot, and a Christmas shopping show? WHAT? Entertainment, too? Great experience. $25 dry camping, $40 with hook ups. Safe, clean, close to everything.
No, it is not a park. No frills. But great dog walks (put them on a leash folks... is that too much to expect? And for Godsake, pick up your mess) and just hangin out. - User3597

The park is AKA Waterfront RV Park and located just east of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). The beach in Huntington is large and lovely. This park is south of town and if you cross PCH you are at the beach. That's the good part. ALL of the exhaust fumes and noise end up in your camp spot. Not to mention the beach fires smoke. The sites are asphalt with a concrete pad. no table. Cable was bad but there are plenty of OTA stations. Pool Area and Game Room looked nice, we did not use them. Two very small dog areas that are in desperate need of attention. Gross. Wifi was poor to fair in our spot (139). I would not stay there again, the price was too much for the noise and stink. - beach89bum
May 2017 - $70.00
The best location!!! The park has been upgraded since we were here last. They have gotten rid of a lot of the undesirable full time residents (bums). The place has been repaved and it's a lot cleaner than before. The clubhouse (ping pong & pool table), hot tub and pool are immaculate. I noticed that they clean the pool and hot tub every single morning. - Thomas Reilly
Apr 2017 - $71.00
You stay at Huntington-By-the -Sea for location and full hook-ups. The people who run the place are really nice, no complaints there. The facilities are fine. We didn't use restrooms or showers so I can't speak to those. There is a huge factory or power plant of some kind across the street which makes it super easy to find. And Huntington Beach is also right across the street, which makes this location fantastic. From this location it's a really easy drive to Newport Beach, Ocean Dog Beach, and any number of other beaches and nearby towns. The RV Park itself is a flat asphalt lot with hookups. There are several long-term residents but sites are maintained and clean. The winds can get pretty high at times so be careful putting things outside, they could blow away! We would stay here again, everything was clean, quiet enough during quiet hours, and very safe. - chasmyn

We were looking for somewhere to stay for a week in Orange County, CA. Our friends stay here long term over the winter months. It is only a long term stay park. No short term stays. Pay by the month or by the season. Our friends pay monthly all year to hold their site for the winter months. I left the park a message on their website and received a text message that they were booked up and have a waiting list. - Matty48

The first row is close to the beach. Literally 25 feet. Little longer walk maybe 2-3 minutes to the water. a few panhandlers but they tended to keep to themselves. Spaces are just long enough for 27 foot trailer and barely wide enough to park truck next to trailer. Noticed some music but think it was from the beach not clubs nearby. Of course I can’t be sure since I didn’t go looking for the source. In either case I was able to sleep as well as my wife and two infants. - Pfmarine1

We absolutely LOVE Huntington Beach and Sunset Vista RV Park has always been perfect for us until "The Bungalow" nightclub opened up across the street. We were supposed to stay 7 nights returning home this coming Monday. Unfortunately, the noise coming out of The Bungalow directed towards the beach was so out of control we couldn't take it anymore and left 3 (already paid) days early. It's unfortunate because there is so much to do there within walking distance and the beaches are amazing. This is not the fault of the campground or any of the people who work there. I hope my husband and I can give it another chance because we do like to be with our friends there. It has water, electric and one dump station which seems to be sufficient. Take bikes, enjoy the beaches and the plentiful restaurants. Lots to do in surrounding area and there is always Disneyland. Fire rings are also available on the sand right in front of the campground; you may want to take firewood. I'd also want to mention the AMAZING sunsets! - Kathy Soden
Apr 2018 - $75.00
We have been to this location many times over the years. This year we decided to stay a full week. The completion of the "Pacific Shopping Center" across the street was always a plus due to the closeness of various restaurants, so we naturally went there for dinner many times. This trip was different due to a nightclub / bar that opened in this center basically over-looking the RV park. This nightclub ran a DJ with pounding loud music till the early hours making our stay no longer a nice beach front stay. I feel confident that the City of Huntington Beach would never allow this loud of music on Main Street. They need to reevaluate any conditional use permits. - Edward972

For the area a very good value .Close to Disneyland close to Knottsberry Farm easy access on freeway 22. Probably the only drawback that this park has is you do have some freeway noise you do have some secondary street noise, but it seems to quiet down at night. Power could be an issue come summertime or when weather gets hot it seem like the voltage was low and the amperage was low for 30 amp it may be a struggle if everybody has their air-conditioning on not sure just something I noticed . This lodge has a lot going on every night something is happening . They have an excellent Park area behind the lodge that is for members only that you can walk your pet in just remember to pick up any Pet deposits . Overall I felt very safe in the area there is a campground host here which is very helpful the dump station is very accessible. We would definitely stay here again . My only suggestion is parking try to park in the sites 4 through 18 you will be a little bit buffered from the street noise and you won't feel like you're sleeping in traffic , lol. They do have a coin operated washer and dryer set up the park is set up very good for RV'ers. My biggest suggestion would be call ahead let them know you're coming so you can make sure you have a spot when you get here.We camped here in a motorhome. - monaco cruiser

The maintenance on the campground is excellent. Everyone is friendly. The pool is well taken care of. Showers and bathrooms are cleaned and disinfected everyday. There are plenty of tall trees for shade on the lots. Plenty of picnic tables to sit on. Wi-Fi provided by the owner through Boingo Wireless. You can see the fireworks from Disneyland everynight: 9:30pm. If you like a camping atmosphere, this is the place. There's no crime in the park. The place is very secure. The park has been here since Disneyland opened 50 years ago. I have enjoyed it greatly! - k.wettlaufer

The man who runs the park was one of the worst people that I have ever delt with. Not a friendly man. Told me there are no other parks in the area which was a total lie. The sites are very small. All back in sites. Cats running around. Ants are a major problem in the park. There are a lot of trees in the park that shed a lot of shade but also a lot of seeds and leaves. The only nice thing about the park is Disneyland was with in waling distance. - Mrs Anne
Sep 2005 - $47.00
This is a private RV park to definitely stay away from. The listing in Trailer Life Directory states it has 35 full hookups (30/50 amps) sites. We made our registration for a space with 30 amp. Upon arrival the daily rate did not include a 13% tax. They tried to put us in a 15 amp plug-in telling us to use an adapter. We have a 30 amp coach. After a few words they moved us to another space that had a 30 amp plug. The park is run-down and does not have an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The park rules are outrageous and state that you are not allowed to walk your pet around the park, ride bikes, check oil levels, or even open your car hood. The spaces are small and you have to park your vehicle away from your RV where it cannot be seen. The park manager is not a friendly person. We will never come here again nor recommend this park to anyone. - Darla15468

Since we were arriving on a Saturday the office told us that there would be information for us clipped to the office door which included a map of available sites to use. The sites were very narrow (we were actually hanging over the next site with our slides deployed) and it was a challenge to get on the site. Very quiet park and the permanent residents that we saw kept their double wide mobile homes very neat with attractive landscaping. We stayed here since the other options was full for the week end, and the cost wasn't out of sight! It is close to lots of restaurants and attractions. - Rick & Karen
Sep 2014 - $59.00
Stay elsewhere. This is a neglected RV park that is part of a mobile home park with virtually no management. Basically, it's is a free-for-all with no manager on site for more than a couple hours a week. People came and went regularly without even paying. The dumpsters were usually overflowing with couches and mattresses from the trailer park. The bathrooms are inexcusably bad. The shower head is mounted at chest level and the rest of the bathroom is just decaying. They were never cleaned in the time we stayed and smelled terrible. No locks on the doors. Prepare to use your RV shower exclusively. Many sites are pretty uneven so if you do stay here, bring a lot of leveling blocks. Beware of the cockroaches living in the sewers. They have a pool but seeing they never cleaned the bathrooms, it's hard to believe they did much to maintain the pool. The trailer park residents don't have any qualm about cutting through the RV sites as shortcuts. Overall this is the worst park we've stayed at in our cross country travels. It's sad because it has potential, but management just doesn't seem to care about the place. - wantahertzdonut

Campsites are very close to the Metrolink railroad, so expect loud train noises regularly throughout day and night. The campsites are tiny, barely enough room for 2 average size tents. Also, there is only 1 water faucet shared by about 1/2 dozen sites. Restroom cleanliness is acceptable. Not awesome. The only upside to this campground is its location right on the beach. Some sites are literally sharing real estate with the sandy beach. I can see that for some campers this unique feature more than offsets the weaknesses of this campground. - splitpeas
Aug 2018 - $60.00
We stayed in what we thought was an oceanfront space, but actually had NO view of the beach or water because of the huge sand berm. Every day a tractor pushed sand higher and higher to protect the park from ocean water surging up and (eventually?) going into the park should there be a storm. The beach was right on the other side of the berm, we just had to climb up and over to get there. The pictures on the park website show a view of the water (from the "ocean front" sites), but it's not so. The train goes by several times a day and also at night, but it doesn't blow the horn or sound too loud. It's dry camping at a clean and relatively quiet park right next to the beach. We enjoyed our stay, but were just a little disappointed we couldn't see the water. - CoachCathy
Mar 2018 - $65.00
Another CA state beach campground, pretty much just like all the rest. Only providing the basics, and at a high price. Again, no dogs allowed on the beach, as instructed by a rude park ranger guy, but lots and lots of dogs were on the beach that evening, and with no enforcement at all. No sewer at site. No power at sight, so lots of generator noise. Not a whole lot to do if you don't have a tow vehicle with you, as walking distances are considerable. All-in-all, this is the only SoCal state beach campground that earns a rating over a two from us. Mostly due to the fact that they have an actual beach that you can access rather than just cliffs. Not a lot of choices for RVers in the area, so if you must... - xyz-123
