Love this campground especially in the boarder season. Kids back in school although location was still quite busy. Clean grounds and well maintained. This particular Park is part of our Thousand Trails Package(not Trails Collection) so the price is right. Everything worked as it should utility wise, T mobile was good both for cell and Data to stream Net Flix. Always a Great time here. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Close by to plenty of eateries and Casino's just down the road. Two good Breakfast locations bear by....Ernie's Cafe and across the street Bert's Cafe. Great Mexican food up the road a piece going toward Fallen Leaf CG...the name isn't coming to me...Oh well. Oh also Brother's Burrito near by....excellent.

Almost left due to poor front desk service which we never considered important before this experience. The maintenance guy saved our stay. Desk people tried to park our 37 ft. Motorhome in a 34 foot space. Lots of trees and lots of people. Kids have a lot of entertainment. Many kid activities including a park, movies, crafts and pool. Bathrooms were closed due to remodel. Difficult for big rigs to maneuver due to trees. No cell service for Verizon. No Wi-Fi. No satellite due to trees. All the right ingredients- movies, pool, activities, amenities- but, unfriendly check in. Luckily the guys on golf carts are helpful and kind. Trees are beautiful! We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a large Encore park with plenty of activities/amenities. There were lots of families and it can get a little busy during the day with lots of people out and about on bicycles, skateboards, etc., but all of our neighbors observed quiet hours. There is some nearby airport noise but it's minor. Nice and quiet in the evening. Park is pet friendly and there is a large fenced dog park on Loop G. The roads are well paved but narrow. The sites are soft dirt and leveling is somewhat challenging but not terrible. Some campers with larger rigs were not able to fully extend their awnings due to the trees but we did not have a problem. Try to avoid arriving after dark, as the site numbering system is a little chaotic and not visible after sunset. The picnic tables are old wooden tabletop/benches with cement bases. They are NOT comfortable or movable. It appears they are slowly replacing the older tables with aluminum frame tables that can be moved. Amenities vary by site, so I recommend pulling up the online park map and calling the reservation number directly. You cannot pick your spot online and I've seen some other reviews stating they didn't get what they thought they had reserved. By speaking with the representative directly, I was able to pick our space in advance. We reserved a spot in loop E and were quite happy with it. WiFi and LTE connectivity are definitely a problem here. Because this park is so large, I believe site location may be a reason for many mixed reviews. In Loop E, AT&T hot spot did not work at all. Verizon hot spot worked some of the time but was very slow and sometimes did not work at all. We purchased the park WiFi and had troubles immediately. We called the support desk number on the login page and they worked some magic on their end to get us connected. We camped here for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. We will return. Tips for other Campers:

Great restaurants within walking/biking distance. Strongly recommend Ernie's Coffee Shop for Breakfast/Bruch. Food is great, coffee is great, bloody marys are fantastic. Lake Tahoe Pizza Company (across the street) is a MUST. Some of the best pizza I've ever had and the salad bar is great, too. Smart and Final within biking distance and other grocery stories, pharmacies, etc. nearby.

Overall Rating:

I like this campground, but let me get the negatives out of the way first so you are forewarned. It is crowded and noisy in peak season. Fully of groups and families which can be loud. Lots of kids on bicycles, sometimes riding through your campsite. Some sites are extremely sunny, others are very shady. VERY dusty. Campground is old so facilities are poor (our electrical post went out and our picnic table needs replacing). Extremely poor Verizon data signal - basically useless from 8 am to midnight. But, despite those negatives it is a good place to stay. Absolutely AMAZING, friendly customer service. They did fix my electrical post quickly and even had maintenance staff on duty to 9 pm. They have teams of friendly "rangers" patrolling the campground that provide security and maintenance. They are really on top of things. Great for kids - activities, movies, concerts, playgrounds, ice cream store, etc. Positive energy from campers and staff. Not near the lake, but great location - you can go north, south, or east very easily with little of the traffic that gridlocks streets near other campgrounds. All the stores you can want within 1/4 mile, including a great Railey's (supermarket). Close to several bike path systems. You can do a wonderful bike ride to Pope Beach. Camp is very quiet at night and in the mornings (there is the rare noise of airplanes taking off from the nearby airport, but it's not an issue). So, not a bad place to stay while in Tahoe. But I would suggest to Thousand Trails to invest in this campground - replace the utility posts, new picnic tables, level the sites, and spread some sort of mulch (perhaps cedar mulch that won't wash away) Also you have to wait on hold forever if you need to modify your reservation during the summer. But they do a good job with what they have. Their outstanding customer service helps a lot. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Chicken in a Barrel is the best BBQ place I've been to anywhere. Crazy Good Bakery is also great. Tour the Pope mansion and visit Taylor Creek Visitor Center. Few crowds, but is as grand as Vikingsholm. It's a flat, easy, beautiful, 8 mile round trip bike ride from camp. To avoid crowds and have incredible Sierra scenery (mountains, lakes, meadows, and flowers), drive south over Carson pass to Caples Lake and Kirkwood. Dare I say it, but it is more spectacular than Tahoe. Hike to Margret Lake.

Great park, clean and friendly staff. Heated pool and so many activities for children and adults can't list them all. You can enjoy your stay at the park or go into South Lake Tahoe that has the casinos and of coarse you can't beat the lake or hiking in Tahoe. Live music Saturday nights and the best $5 breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings. We will be back! We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here the weekend before Christmas. We had two families and two motorhomes. The kids all used Uber to go snowboard every day, and the adults relaxed and visited downtown. The campground was less than 1/2 full. Nice people, and festive for the season. It is about 10 minutes from downtown near Heavenly Resort, so a little bit of an Uber ride. Each trip cost us around $30 each way. There are a few stores close by as well as a pizza parlor. We had an amazing time, enjoyed the people, and the environment. My guess is this campground is amazing in the summer as well as the winter. Roads and sites were easy to get in and out of, and level. With the slushy snow we had there was mud, but nothing horrible. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is difficult for big rigs to maneuver and back into sites. Don't arrive in the DARK! Have to ask neighbors to move vehicles so you can back in. Don't take the 'assigned' spot they offer-ask for a listing of available sites and go look at the path to each and verify you can get into/open sides at sites. We requested 50 amp-the only site they offered us with 50 was too tight. The park had 'closed for season' sections but there were well over 3/4 of the open sections available. Cement Picnic tables were awful. Huge price increase from last year: $58 to $84. When asked why such an increase was told it was to 'keep the riff raff out' and that 'big rig owners had no problem paying it'. We are not Thousand Trail members, with the unprofessional behavior of staff of this very worn out campground wouldn't even consider joining. The only good thing about this park is location. Too bad it's so user unfriendly and expensive. We will keep looking for 'better' parks when returning to this area. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

This is our first stay at a Thousand Trails campground and was quite disturbed by a LOUD karaoke party that went until 9:30. Talked to the manager the next morning and he let me know that it was the employee end of season party. He said Thousand Trails is known for its concerts and parties and folks really like it. Other than this experience and a very slow check-in process, our stay was OK. The campground is very large and the sites are spacious and wooded, but there is no privacy. Some sites have fire rings, other sites have grills. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This campground had excellent reviews. We have a 43' Class A. We reserved a "Premium" site ~ however, not every "Premium" site has 50 amp service which was shocking! There are 50 amp sites, but those must be reserved previously which is not clear on their website and reservation site. Tragically we visited here during a very hot week. We had 4" on either side of our slideouts. It took nearly 15 minutes to park. The park does not provide parking service. You are pretty much on your own. All sights are dirt. Some have wood chips, but otherwise dirt. You will need a carpet if you want to sit outside. THERE IS NO WIFI ~ unless you want to pay $6 per day. The sites are heavily wooded, so no satellite. Cable was intermittent. Very. Very disappointed. Most campers are TT or tents. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Second stay at this Encore Park. Price reflects Thousand Trails discount and $4.00 "Resort Fee". Nice place. Great amenities. Tight maneuvering for big rigs but beautiful campsites. Most are fairly level back in dirt 30/50 amp full hook up sites. Good location next to the "Y". Nice pool and courts. Personnel very friendly and efficient. Will stay again. This is a very large park. The spaces are average size. Some are very hard to back into because of the large pine trees. On the whole it is a nice clean well run park. We have stayed there before and would stay their again. Site 250 in the "F" loop would be one I would stay away from unless you are in a very small tent trailer. One of our favourite stops on this trip,it reminds us of a state park with all the tall pine trees. Our original site was 176 but with all the trees there was no way we could open our slides. Went back to the office and they gladly switched us to a pull thru site. If you love the sun as much as we do then site 102 is the one for you. Hookups are conveniently placed towards the back of the site. Restrooms and showers are neat and clean with plenty of hot water. Interior roads are asphalt and the sites are sand. Each site has a picnic table and a charcoal grill. Good fast wifi signal was just upgraded this week although it was out for a bit as some of the bugs were ironed out. The campground store has limited supplies but within a five minute walk there is plenty of shopping. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here as Thousand Trails members with the Trails Collection. Again, Thousand Trails and Encore love the word "resort." This is a nice campground but not really a resort and it's huge. Only two of the four loops were open and very little of the amenities were in operation (May at Lake Tahoe is called winter in most places). The lodge had a decent store but the lounge areas were severely lacking for such a large campground. The laundry was good to go but again, kind of small for the size of the park. The sites are hit and miss but that's due to the hundreds of pines on property. We barely wedged our 32 foot motorhome in ours but friends next door had plenty of room for their 40 foot rig and a large sitting area. The sites are level-ish with good power and water. The best part about Tahoe Valley is it's in South Lake Tahoe. There's diners and pizza joints within walking distance, a Raley's half a mile away, a Big 5 and more just down the street, not to mention Lake Tahoe! We'd stay here again if we're in the area. This large park is called a resort, but it isn't what I would call a resort. Sure, there's a pool, a basketball court and kids playground, but that doesn't make a campground a resort. A very rustic, woodsy setting makes this very nice, though. We have a picnic table and a rusty, lopsided grill, but no fire pit. Some sites have fire pits, and others don't. All dirt, with lots of pine needles. We are in a back-in site, up against a wooden fence. We have just enough space for our 37' motorhome without our front end sticking out into the road. Pleasant enough atmosphere and lots of room around our site, although the neighboring sites are fairly close. Sitting outside is a pleasure, even at night. Our Verizon cell service has worked well here and using our Jetpack we have had no issues being online. The wifi isn't great, even with a cell tower close by and it didn't work at first but then it did. It has not been consistent, though, which is typical in most parks. We camped at Tahoe Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

South Lake Tahoe has lots to see and do if you enjoy nightlife, eating and shopping. The Nevada casinos are a short 20 minute drive away if that's your thing. There are also many hiking opportunities out by Emerald Bay and beyond, as well as beautiful scenic vistas and the awesome Vikingsholm Castle.
