OMG. $45 to dry camp. Right, no hook ups of any kind, with the choice of a very unlevel site or an open parking lot marked off with site numbers, right up by the freeway. Pay showers, bring plenty of quarters cuz it takes the first couple to warm up the water. If I had thought this thru I would have driven to the closest Walmart. The saving grace was the beautiful view of the ocean (looking away from the oil rigs) and lovely rocky beach and trails. I must be spoiled by gorgeous quiet Arizona and New Mexico campgrounds. California coast will never be a destination camp site for me again if this is the norm. - Mizz Nizz

We use it for a quick break. It just an 45 min drive from home. Price has gone up $10 more this year. Love to walk the bike trail or along beach. They added picnic tables for the 130 to 132 sites. - Baddad53

This was our first visit in over 20 years. My wife's family loved camping here when she was growing up, so it was a nice return visit. The trees provided nice shade and privacy. However, since this is a state park, it's showing the effects of California's budget crisis. The facilities aren't in very good shape, and the restrooms aren't kept very clean. There was standing water in one of the men's shower stalls. But, it was still a great visit. We only heard the train 3 times in three days, and those were in the middle of the day, never at night. We enjoyed listening to the surf at night, and the beach made for some great surf-side running. - John Sims

The trees are becoming overgrown and need major trimming. It was difficult to get my fifth wheel in my site due to untrimmed branches. The pool and spa area were spectacular. I was very irritated at the fact that I was paying $115.00 a day for an RV site and they wanted to charge an additional $5 a day for there "fast wifi". The free wifi was unusable. Nice location but not worth the outrageous daily fee. - derwood210

First time camping at Ocean Mesa. The office staff were awesome. Nice site. This place has everything you would need and more. - White Bear

We stayed over a weekend. Plenty of families in for the weekend Friday and especially Saturday night. Sunday night was dead quiet. There was plenty of kid noise, but it was all happy and quieted down early in the evening. Everyone I talked to were very friendly. The pull through sites are not spacious, but not cramped either. Being on a hill, you don't feel too much like you are looking in your neighbors window. Plus there is some shrubbery between most sites. My site was quite level, but I had a little struggle getting unhitch because it tilted down enough that the ball didn't want to come loose immediately. The park is right off of 101 and a set of train tracks, but the noise was less than I was expecting. Internet is not free, but our cell phone hotspots did the job. The price did seem a little steep and we prefer more space between sites, but this park is by far the best option for visiting Santa Barbara in our opinion. - jas18
