Extremely over priced even for California. We had a back in full hookup site. Room to park tow in front. All amenities for kids including heated pool, bouncy, playground. Okay wifi. This was prime season and it was full every day. Hundreds of kids everywhere having fun on bikes etc. You pay for the location and amenities. Will stay again if have to for the grandkids! We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

You pay for location here - this is an expensive park. It also has many features and attractions for kids, and more are being constructed, so this is becoming a "destination resort" type of park. Uncrowded when we were there. We had one of the back-in sites with a rear wood deck hanging over the hillside leading away from the park. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Monterey aquarium. Santa Cruz pier. Since this park is actually in Watsonville, neither Monterey nor Santa Cruz, for dinner we highly recommend The Fish House & Grill on Main St. in Watsonville - much closer, and still great seafood. But if you want to drive a little further, in Moss Landing you really should go to Phil's Fish Market and Eatery where the seafood is freshest and you can buy more fish to take home.

We love it here! So much to do right in the resort but perfect location to visit Santa Cruz (30 minutes), Capitola (one of our favorite beach towns) Aptos, and Monterey. The site we stayed in, 180, has a paver patio. We have a 40' RV and still had room to park our jeep in front. Sites are close together so not much privacy but the plus way make up for that. Make sure you pack a broom, sand will end up in your RV. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

In three years of full time rving all across the continental US, this is the most expensive place we have stayed. Seven days cost us a little over $700 for a site with water and electric only, no sewer hook up. That's over the top even for California. Nice facility that is fairly well maintained. Very busy especially on weekends. It's popular for families and there are a lot of children. OK reception on Verizon. Park WiFi was hit or miss depending upon time of day. Late at night most of the time it was very good. Large store with lots of beer/wine/soda/ice cream plus souvenirs and some groceries. Sunset Beach is a short drive and it is a long, beautiful beach with nice surf waves. Only real problem we had was no hot water in the showers for a couple of days. We had to report it twice before it was fixed but otherwise staff is good and helpful. Rest rooms and shower facilities were nice and well maintained other than that water temp problem. They are spending lots on a new patio area near the bouncy pillow, some major cabin foundation repairs, and a few newly paved parking sites but I'd like to see them spend more time on routine things like grass, peeling paint on picnic tables, etc. They do go around every day and clean out fire pits but the guy does not look around and pick up around the camp sites. Our fire pit was cleaned out and raked around a little before we arrived but I had to pick up some cigarette butts, a plastic fork and some other small debris. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

Didn't realize the site included a separate dog pen which is awesome for those who have dogs, we don't do would have preferred to use the space. Unfortunately our VERY close neighbors didn't have a dog pen so we heard their dog bark, whine and scratching on the windows for over 9 hours! The staff was amazing though! We spent 4 days here from Friday to Monday. I had originally requested a spot at the back in expectation of peace and quiet. When we hooked up power our surge protector showed problems with the ground and would not allow power to the trailer. I returned to the office and they gave me a new spot over the office. This spot was the 7th in a line of 9 sites, all vacant. After setting up we saw another party arrive 2 spaces away, shortly after that another party arrived to the site between us. We soon found out that these 2 rvs were a group. So here we are next to the group of 10 or so people occupying the 2 sites next to us with 6 vacant sites on the other side and another 8 or 10 vacant sites across the street. I have no complaints about the people next to us, they were not unreasonably noisy or up at late hours, it just seems that with all those vacant sites there was no good reason to put us all together. I think the neighbors would have preferred having some space as well. Overall, it's not a bad park but they really need to look ‌into how they assign spaces when they have so many available.

AT&T cell coverage is decent if you are toward the front of the site. Towards the back it goes away completely. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Nice campground for children. Medium sized sites. WiFi good (but the campground was nearly empty). But we were there in late December, and none of the bathroom/shower buildings have ANY heat, making them almost useless. Luckily, our daughter lives close to this campground, so we could shower at her house. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

We reserved a back in site near the playground for our little one to enjoy. We were not disappointed, we were right by the play structure. The site itself had a picnic table a patio table and the patio area was paved. The pad for the trailer was packed dirt and mostly level, I was barely on the anderson's to get the trailer level. The play area was large and had a very large sand pit as well. The park is very pet friendly with Dog waste stations found around the park with a supply of bags and a bin for the waste. The trash is picked up from in front of the site daily, although the recycling left something to be desired. I also found the park to be very dark at night which made walking the dog difficult. We would visit again it was excellent and we enjoyed our stay. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very expensive KOA but it has a lot going for it. They have very friendly staff, activity sheet and lots of stuff for the kids. Heated swimming pool and hot tub, 2 dog parks, and convenient store/ souvenir shop. My boys (13,16.) loved the jumping pillow and activities like mini golf and tie dye workshop. They rented banana bikes and went swimming. We walked to the beach on the old railroad tracks (about a mile away). Since we were traveling in our 35' RV there isn't any parking for large vehicles. It was a really nice weekend before school. Even though it's expensive we'll be back. The showers/ restrooms were very clean and nice as well. Loved this place. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here on a trip with our 12 year old son. This park has lots of family recreation type amenities. Family type resort means lots of kids. If you prefer something slightly less noisy, request a space away from the play area(s). Nice pool and hot tub. This is a large park and I was surprised at how clean the restrooms and other facilities are kept. Well stocked store with gifts, a few groceries and other misc items. Great dog park with grass and room to run. Cost was approx $140 per night. We stayed one night in a 60' pull through and 3 nights in a smaller 40'. The 60' (space #225) was higher rate of around $150 (I believe) and included a stand up gas grill, larger concrete pad and concrete surrounded fire pit. The smaller space (#50, which we preferred of the two), cost slightly less and backed to the tree line of the park which gave more privacy. Smaller space had smaller pad and more dirt including around the fire pit. The smaller site was large enough to park both our 28' camper and truck. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great family park in a nice location. It has lots of activities for children. We stayed there due to its proximity for a family get together. The rates are the highest that we have encountered in our years of RVing. The park is extremely busy (the busiest that I have been to) with lots of children riding bicycles and having fun on the weekend! You need to be very careful maneuvering your RV and driving through the park because the kids aren't watching out for you. Summer is most likely just as busy. The spaces that back up against the trees were quieter if you want or need more serenity. The staff was great. I would not stay here again due to the high rate unless I had children or no other close by park. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

The park is great if you have alot of money and kids! The site was nothing special and not big enough to fit our motorhome and truck (tow vehicle). There was a pretty worn out picnic table at the site. Gravel area to park motorhome, and dirt / gravel mix where you walk. We can say "been there and done that" and will not return. Too expensive. We arrived the afternoon of Labor Day. The park had been at 100% of capacity for the weekend. When we arrived at 1:30 pm, we found the staff friendly, the camp sites clean and bathroom/showers ready to use. The camp site was large for our R-Pod trailer. The only thing we didn't like was the $5/day fee for the dog. We plan to return. We camped at Santa Cruz / Monterey Bay KOA in a Travel Trailer.

We went with 3 trailers- our spot was the biggest - the other spots were a little small. It was a clean park - nice staff. Wish the grocery part of the store was a little bigger. Nice pool and spa area. It was a little hard to find the park. We were charged $10 extra to request spots together- camped at other KOA's in other states and this was a first. We splurged and booked one of the back in sites with the patio overlooking the newly remodeled pool area below! It was a bit pricey, but the spot was spacious, clean and very nice. Our kids loved all of the fun amenities, including the game room, jumping pillow, bike rentals, playground area and beautiful new pool. During our stay, we visited Big Basin Redwood Park in Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Monterey Bay Aquarium and nearby beaches (1 mile away)!
