Aug 2019 - $1.00
Love this campground especially in the boarder season. Kids back in school although location was still quite busy. Clean grounds and well maintained. This particular Park is part of our Thousand Trails Package(not Trails Collection) so the price is right. Everything worked as it should utility wise, T mobile was good both for cell and Data to stream Net Flix. Always a Great time here. - acampingfan
Aug 2019 - $75.00
Almost left due to poor front desk service which we never considered important before this experience. The maintenance guy saved our stay. Desk people tried to park our 37 ft. Motorhome in a 34 foot space. Lots of trees and lots of people. Kids have a lot of entertainment. Many kid activities including a park, movies, crafts and pool. Bathrooms were closed due to remodel. Difficult for big rigs to maneuver due to trees. No cell service for Verizon. No Wi-Fi. No satellite due to trees. All the right ingredients- movies, pool, activities, amenities- but, unfriendly check in. Luckily the guys on golf carts are helpful and kind. Trees are beautiful! - RV Mimi

This is a large Encore park with plenty of activities/amenities. There were lots of families and it can get a little busy during the day with lots of people out and about on bicycles, skateboards, etc., but all of our neighbors observed quiet hours. There is some nearby airport noise but it's minor. Nice and quiet in the evening. Park is pet friendly and there is a large fenced dog park on Loop G. The roads are well paved but narrow. The sites are soft dirt and leveling is somewhat challenging but not terrible. Some campers with larger rigs were not able to fully extend their awnings due to the trees but we did not have a problem. Try to avoid arriving after dark, as the site numbering system is a little chaotic and not visible after sunset. The picnic tables are old wooden tabletop/benches with cement bases. They are NOT comfortable or movable. It appears they are slowly replacing the older tables with aluminum frame tables that can be moved. Amenities vary by site, so I recommend pulling up the online park map and calling the reservation number directly. You cannot pick your spot online and I've seen some other reviews stating they didn't get what they thought they had reserved. By speaking with the representative directly, I was able to pick our space in advance. We reserved a spot in loop E and were quite happy with it. WiFi and LTE connectivity are definitely a problem here. Because this park is so large, I believe site location may be a reason for many mixed reviews. In Loop E, AT&T hot spot did not work at all. Verizon hot spot worked some of the time but was very slow and sometimes did not work at all. We purchased the park WiFi and had troubles immediately. We called the support desk number on the login page and they worked some magic on their end to get us connected. We camped here for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. We will return. - WM Guthrie

Jul 2011 - $18.00
This a great find during the busy camping season. We stayed there the weekend after the fourth of July. Everywhere else was booked but this nice little place had several spaces. It is heavily wooded in tall evergreens with incredible mountain views and near a rushing creek (the West Fork of the Carson river) the sound was pleasing. The sites are short, we have a 22' class C but over 24-26' could be a problem. A few spots were longer but I saw only one pull through. Not for big rigs! Tent campers and small rig paradise. No hook ups but clean restrooms, some road noise. We loved it and with senior pass $8,(US Forest Campground) a bargain. Definitely will stay here again. - Syncro

This is a old forest service campground which is now being run by concessionaires and is keep up very clean. Primitive in the sense, no-hookups of any kind but very relaxing. - monaco cruiser

We prefer actual campgrounds with hookups to resort style RV parks. That being said, I personally would give this campground a 10! However, I know that most RV'er expect a 10 to only be given to resort style places. This has to be and will most likely forever be the BEST campsite we have ever had in an RV. I don't know what it's like when it gets really busy as we were lucky to almost have the place to ourselves. The scenery amongst the pine trees, mountains and with the river rushing by are exactly what I dream of in a campsite. It was difficult for us to get into and out of our site, however, the camp host was not only extremely helpful but also very knowledgeable and how exactly to accomplish getting in. The site was very large, it's just a windy and a little steep road nestled in the pines so it took some maneuvering and we were so grateful for his assistance. Which didn't just happen by chance I must add. The host told me in advance that he needed to be there to help us and he also called me that morning to find out about our expected arrival. I can't say enough about the excellent service we received. Another bonus was, we got to have a fire! This is almost unheard of in the CA forests anymore. We thoroughly enjoyed that every night! There are plenty of places to get delicious meals either close by or 15 minutes away. South Lake Tahoe is only 20-30 minutes away. The Hope Valley is one of the most beautiful places. We even decided to go back for the fall colors this year and stay at the cabins which are owned by the same people as the campground. I only wish this wasn't so far for us because I would make an annual trip there! - Ohanamama
Jul 2014 - $38.00
We loved this RV/tent park! Almost all the sites have water, sewer, and power. Some of the 'walk-in' tent sites don't have any amenities except gorgeous views. The host is fantastic! Very helpful and very friendly, as is Ryder, the host dog. All of the sites are spacious and nice. Some of the lower sites are right on the Carson River, but all are within walking distance of great fishing. There are restrooms and showers in the lower campground. If you are in the upper campground be aware that it's a longish and steep walk to the restrooms and showers! During business hours the cafe has a restroom available...but not in the middle of the night. There is some road noise from Highway 88 but at night it's very quiet. All sites have a fire pit and a picnic table- but at this time you can only use the fire pit at night since they are in a drought season. No fires during the day! The cafe is awesome- great meals and amazing pies, cookies and scones baked all day. There is also a small store with ice, some supplies and cold drinks. Sorensen's is 1/4 mile away and has a full restaurant. Everyone is very helpful and nice. We loved staying here but we aware that there is no phone service at all. Wi-Fi is available at the cafe during the day but very spotty. Sorensen's has Wi-Fi and no phone service. We will be back. Wonderful place! - Michelelyl

Small hillside/creek site in wooded valley. Eric was very friendly host. Pretty quiet site. Didn't use restrooms or showers so don't know about them. Really enjoyed a coffee and home-made scone and cake at the bar by the entrance. Would return if in the area. - visitor to usa

Avoid this place. We were with a group of friends with whom we camp on a regular basis. We have fun and can be a little loud, but always respect the quiet time restrictions and don't play loud music. No cussing or drunken brawl type activity. We were constantly harassed by the resident park ranger. He had zero people skills (I am retired law enforcement who taught tactical communication...he would have failed). He even woke up a friend of ours who was asleep in his hammock and threatened to take him to jail for public intoxication. We told them that our trailers we 25 and 26 feet, but got chewed out because the max length was 24 feet. Why weren't we told when we booked our sites? No dump station on site. We had to go to Tahoe and pay $10 to dump.We all left saying "Never Again!!!" - 5-0 on the road
May 2012 - $35.00
Stayed during Memorial Day weekend. The park is far from everything, closest town had a population of 200, no cell nor Wi-Fi for the teens. Most camp driveways were a bit short and narrow. Restrooms and showers were kept fairly clean but showers need updating. Bring coins for showers. Nice hike to the waterfalls! The park has two pools, a warm swimming but full of kids and hot wadding pool with brown-green hue but no sulfur odor. Get to the pool early, waiting lines can be long in the afternoon. - RetUSAF
Jul 2011 - $35.00
Great park. The hot springs pool is inexpensive and open daily. Well-spaced sites allow lots of privacy. Nice hikes in the area. - MysticRaven

I guess you could say this is a back to back to back review, not sure what I can add to what I've already posted but I have a couple things that caught my attention. Since last visit they have posted some specific RV rules which some of these are common sense and then some reminders . The RV sites were occupied by myself and another fifth wheel other than that that was pretty much it for the week. Given the fact it was so cold having 50 amp power was a plus we had to use plug-in electric heaters, when it gets down to single digits these thin walls just aren't enough to hold out the cold . We always try to take on something that's going on when visiting the Elks Friday night was a Bingo night so that's what we did Friday night . I would say this is probably one of the cleanest and most manicured Elks RV parking you will find it's too bad they do not have a dump station but maybe in the future who knows, but for the price you pay it works for me . - monaco cruiser
Aug 2018 - $17.00
I very seldom get to post back to back reviews specially when they're 9 to 11 months apart . But let me just say this, coming from Reno area where I had to pay at the Grand Sierra what I had to pay and resort fees it completely takes the fun out of what you're therefore, this lodge is a short term stay for anybody passing through yet it has 50 amp power it does have water if you need to fill your tank there is no dump, but remember it's just here for short term stay. For some reason the traffic wasn't as bad this time as the last time we visited not sure if the gravel/road repair yard across the street was not in full swing but it was more quiet , but I will say this you better have your nights sleep in by 7 o'clock in the morning because the traffic does get cranked up and it does get noisy. Another thing I noticed this time is there was more people here, the lodge said that the campground's five spots have been pretty much booked all summer . I will say this when you are backing into the spots make sure you have a good spotter the spots are kind of pie shaped and it is possible to get closer to your neighbor than you should be when backing in be careful. We definitely would stay here again . - monaco cruiser
Sep 2017 - $17.00
Very nice place to stay for elks members only . I agree with previous post the traffic on Kemmerling is getting more used during the daytime very very busy there seems to be a gravel yard across the street that trucks are continuously running from seven in the morning till 3 o'clock this goes on six days a week at least this was my observation how long this goes on through the year can't tell you . The RV parking is set up very nice we actually backed in with a 22 foot enclosed trailer the only thing the sprinklers washed the trailer early in the morning but that was OK we did not have to unhook. Electrical hook up was nice 50 amp was a plus specially if you were there in the summer time were you needed to run air believe me it would be hot, there is no trees to shade. We attended a breakfast at the lodge on Sunday was excellent very very good I would stay here again but definitely bring earplugs there is still some traffic noise at night if you can park away from the street as far as possible is a plus, motorhomes or trailers between you and the street might create a little bit of a buffer on noise. We camped here in a motorhome for members only . - monaco cruiser
