Roomy! Lots of space between each site. It looked like the sites are different lengths, so you need to find one to fit your rig. Shorter rigs, please do not take a site meant for a forty footer! The park is clean, well kept and the utilities worked fine. Verizon cell signal was good. The park is located adjacent to the base runway so, if they are active, it could be loud. The 4 days we were there we heard 1 helicopter and 2 jets - that's it. The roads are wide enough to get around easily and backing in or pulling through a site is very easy. We had a concrete pad surrounded by grass. We enjoyed our stay there and would go back. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great place to stay in Denver. The sites are spacious and the pads are concrete. It has beautiful views of the mountains and very close to the PX and commissary. A little windy in the afternoons, so you have to keep an eye on your awning. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Roads are rather narrow to drive and turn. Most people end up driving through part of the dirt. Only nice thing is spots are spacious and the water has been fixed. There are no trees so I bet summers are really hot here. There's not a single thing for young kids to do, no playground or place to play. They end up running around all over. You can tell most people do not clean up after their pets including the camp hosts. The running track was nice to have close by for a morning run. We tried the commissary, but it was small, pricey and not well stocked. There's a Safeway not far down the road. Outdoor rec could do better with taking care of campgrounds in general. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

One of the best FamCamps I've had the pleasure of using. This is attested to by the long lead time for reservations. You can not reserve more than 30 days in advance, wait to 29 or 28 and you likely won't get in.

The campground and spaces are spacious, clean and for a Military Base very quiet. Many pull through and back in sites, first come first served so arrive early on your reserved date to get the best sites. Most sites have sloped entrance / exit, but the pads are flat & level.

They have a long term issue with water in the campground so the normal $24 rate was reduced to $10. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We came in after hours without a reservation. The camp host's wife pointed out a few open pads to select from. The following morning we registered at the MWR office which is about 3 miles away. The pads are excellent concrete with full hook-ups. No shade. No view. There was an adjacent grassy area where bombing range target vehicles are stored, that was a good place to let my dog run off lease. It was fun watching F-16s take off close by. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed our stay at this campground very much. There are nice concrete pads with full hookups. Shade is pretty much non existent so getting your satellite to connect is easy. What we really appreciated was the WYFI service. With a $50 refundable deposit you received your own MYFI unit with unlimited data. We have never encountered this before and were very pleased with this great service.

Camphost was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival. Reservations in the summer are a good idea. The campground was very busy throughout our stay with little availability.

Grass is very shaggy around your sites but remember this is a high desert area.

We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We just spent 3 weeks at Buckley Famcamp, and enjoyed our stay. The Famcamp is located away from the city and majority of the base with quick access to the base facilities. It is quiet except for the "sounds of freedom", F-16s, taking off and buzzing the runway which is located right across the street. Don't get me wrong, we loved hearing and seeing them and took many great pics! Bath/restroom facilities appeared clean, we did not use them. Sites are level. Although there were some families with children in the Famcamp they were quite and not bothersome. Over all we really liked this campground and will use it again if we return to the Denver area. Now the not so positive: the campground is run by MWR and has NO emphasis placed on it from the base/MWR commanders consequently MWR employees pay no attention. There were 5 sites with broken water pipes that have not been repaired and no one shows any signs of wanting to repair them. The streets within the Famcamp are narrow, not enough maneuver space when you must turn corners, as evidenced by the mud on the roads and ruts in the grass areas. At least one site is all but impossible to get into even with a small trailer due to the sites positioning and the narrow roads. The Famcamp sits on a hill and many of the sites are low, when it rains they retain water. Mowing happens only before holidays so the grass was high, due to all of the rain. They mowed just before Memorial day weekend and brought a street sweeper in and cleaned off the interior roads. What a difference! We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do not trust your GPS, even with the coordinates, ours took us to the 6th Street gate. Call ahead and get the physical address of the Mississippi gate, much easier to maneuver!

Lots of shopping and site seeing in the greater Denver area. Tour of the US Mint in Denver was superb!

We are presently parked at Buckley and very pleased to see improvement. We were here 2 years ago and the weeds and grass were shockingly high. This is a pretty new facility, with large spaces, concrete pads, picnic tables at each site and full hook-ups. Buckley is a really nice base and Aurora is a nice area and very close to Denver Int'l Airport. You may make a reservation, but not for a specific spot. In fact, this place appears to be so busy I would say that you MUST make a reservation and not just assume that an empty one is yours for the taking. There is now a camp host on site(we were greeted promptly and very nicely) and you WILL have to move if you wind up sneaking in and taking another's slot. There are a few longer stay folks, but n actual homesteaders ... just folks waiting to make settlement on a new home. the grass is not being mowed on a regular schedule and the facilities are very clean. Laundry is FREE! We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This is a military campground located in an urban area. The reservation system was down so it was "first come, first served" during this time period. Reservation system is supposed to be back on line 1 Oct 14. Must access the base via the commercial gate which is open 24/7. Sites are well spaced from each other with a mix of back ins and pull thrus. We found an open space. parked, and then headed to Outdoor Recreation, Bldg 1022 to register. There is no place at Outdoor Recrearion to park RV to register. Utilities were fine but did not use the boathouse/laundry. Verizon cell/MiFii and ATT MiFi worked well. Campground is located right across from the runways but noise was not an issue. There appear to be some long term campers in the campground. Good BX and Commissary. No diesel fuel on base as far as we could tell. We would stay need again if in the area, We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

This FamCamp is managed by Outdoor Recreation. There are no reservations. You just drive in, pick a spot, get setup, then drive your vehicle over to Outdoor Rec and let them know which site you’re in so they can give you a pass and a MiFi. That’s right, I said MiFi. For a $50 refundable deposit, they will sign out an unlimited Verizon MiFi for you to use during your entire stay. The FamCamp itself isn’t maintained very well. The weeds that cover the ground are occasionally mowed. There is no playground or other amenities. But with its close proximity to Denver, free MiFi, free laundry, and very spacious sites, its definitely worth the stay. The BX and Commissary are also right down the road. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

While it is apparent that there is very little management associated with this CG, I'm not one to look for dirt, or grass, when given a pile of gold. There are a lot more positives than negatives. All sites are absolutely level, concrete pads which any sized rig can fit onto with plenty of extra space for another vehicle. The interior road is asphalt. There are a handful of pull thru's, but don't expect to get one since this is a no-res CG. The bath house is modern with a couple showers/toilets each. The laundry room has two new wash/dry machines and they are free to use. Voltage is on the marginal side if you're a two AC RV and want to pop on the microwave or electric water heater. The CG was full and it was 90+ degrees at the time of this review. There are no trees to provide shade but then that makes it a cinch to lock in the sat signals. They do something with respect to WiFi that I have never seen done before. You can check out a Verizon 4G MiFi for a $50 refundable deposit and take it to your RV. It was fast, free access, and you're on your own network. If you happen to be a bandwidth hog, then you will be delighted. This is not a "kid friendly" park since there is no play ground, but there are plenty of kids here now and they seem to make do. Check-in at the rec center, albeit can't be done on the weekend, is easy with friendly and helpful staff. This is not your typical AF base in that there isn't a lot of base amenities. There is a commissary that is well stocked. You don't have to use the commercial gate. The base powers to be figures that everyone is totally without any RV driving skills, so they want you to use the gate that can accommodate a cruise ship. I always use the 6th street gate because it is the closest to the FamCamp. I am a 38 ft without a tow. 5ers or TTs may have a bit more of a challenge just due to the lack of backward visibility in turns, but if you are an experienced driver then it's doable. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This is a good campground. Sites are pretty level and spacious; however, no trees. It was quiet, clean, and close to Denver.
