Jul 2018 - $30.00
They charge $15 for dumping when you leave! The connections were all buggered up and hard to connect to, leaking badly! There were no trees close enough to the campsites to provide any shade..... only sagebrush, weeds, and stickers! They didn't even have water hook ups so you had to either leave or carry bucket by bucket... It had a dead man's valve so you had to stand and hold it for it to stay on!! When we stayed there, the water was very low, therefore hard to get to! We still hiked down the hill and played in the river, though it was quite a maneuver especially to try to carry chairs, inner tubes, towels etc. There was no way that we could take our little paddle boat! There was some beautiful riding for us to do on our motorcycle though! - Nyna

There is a lot of good about this campground but some issues. Main issue is electric, the power grid is out dated and fails daily in summer. They actually tell you that you can't run your AC (on check in) or the power will go out. Problem is while you sweat it out, someone else will turn their AC on and your power is still out. So if you don't need power it's a great campground or if you don't mind paying for an electric site and not having electric. Has a dump station, but they want $15 to dump even if you have paid to camp. - Kevincolorado
Jul 2018 - $24.00
This is the second review I have made on this park but things have changed or should I say deteriorated. Don't get me wrong, I love House Creek because of it's remoteness and quiet atmosphere. There are around 50 sites and a couple of group loops but when we were there even over the 4th there were very few campers. There has been no maintenance done in the 4 years since our last visit. The roads have cracked and in some places broken up. The electricity is only 30 amp and even with the sites not even half full it would go off if you tried to use the AC. And you pay $8 per night for it! The boat ramp which is the reason most people come there was only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and there are tire spikes to keep people out of the ramp area at night and week days. The forest service road leading to the CG is breaking and sliding down the bank so you have to drive around on the wrong side of the road. The dump fee is now $15 even if you paid the $32 per night fee. - rhianna

If you enjoy camping "off the grid" in gorgeous surroundings, then this is the place for you. It would have gotten a 10 if there was water and a dump station. Several sites have 30 amp electric which is very convenient but you will have to fill your fresh water tank. Located right on the West Dolores River, you can fly fish or just enjoy the sights and sounds. There are pull-throughs, back-ins and tent sites. If you want to use the electric, which we purchased, it will cost $6.00 a night. Site number 10 has wonderful shade and privacy and is only a few steps away from the river. Having to drive to the city of Dolores (20 miles) to dump tanks is not convenient but the beauty and grandeur of this campground definitely make up for that. We would come here again. - Cat Gypsy
Aug 2015 - $22.00
There are both electric and non-electric sites at this Forest Service campground and water faucets. We stayed in one of the pull-through electrical sites for four days. The five pull through sites are very close together--your door opens into the next camper's space. If the neighbors had a fire, it filled our trailer. And NO cell service at all. I probably would not camp there again. - travelingran

This was a nice, clean, spacious park. Some sites are close but we loved site 16E with a beautiful backyard view of the reservoir. This is 30 amp, no water hookups, but spigots to fill water cans. A few sites have full hookups. Bathrooms had flush toilets and were spotless! Camp hosts were very helpful, friendly, and seemed to want campers to enjoy the area, offering recommendations about the local area. We will definitely return. - Mary Scott
May 2018 - $25.00
Great location.... But hardly worth it. The BLM/USFS fee schedule is excessive and complicated. We stayed in our RV on an electric only site but the base rate works out to $28/night for a non-discounted tent site. According to the sign it's $20 for the site less $8 discount plus $6 for the 30 Amp service plus $8/day access fee . Booked on line and paid $25 a night? Our site was an uneven pull-out (pull-through?) that had a tree, pedestal, and site post making for challenging maneuvers. We may visit the McPhee Recreation Complex in the future but we'll either find somewhere else or Boondock it. - JC Penny
Jun 2017 - $18.00
The rate reflects a discount with a Federal Senior Pass for a 50 amp electric site. We found this to be a great Forest Service campground. The camp hosts were pleasant and helpful. There is no dump and no fresh water fill for a tank. Dump and available for free, and water for a nominal fee, in Cortez, courtesy of the city. We were pleasantly surprised to find a site with good 50 amp service. Some of the sites are first-come, which we were able to secure easily. It does not seem to be a very busy campground, which is surprising given its great location. The sites are well-spaced and it was very quiet and nice and dark at night. We had to work a bit with our portable dish to get DirecTV, as it is somewhat treed. We had a good Verizon voice and data signal. We would certainly stay here again. - TheJim

Sep 2018 - $44.00
This is a beautiful park and very well maintained. Lots of beautiful trees, and grass at each site. It was by the highway, but the traffic noise was minimal. We stayed 5 nights and would have stayed longer, but had other commitments down the road. We will definitely stay here again. I have already chosen some river frontage spots for next year! The laundry was also very clean. - Marilynintexas
Jul 2018 - $42.00
We have stayed at this campground twice. We always make reservations for next year. We always go with several other RV friends. Elevation is high around 8000ft, my wife has COPD and had slight problem breathing the high altitude. We love the campground and the surrounding area/towns. There is about 100 sites with full hooks ups and just a few permanent residents there. There are a few cabins for rent, a nice club hall to have your potlucks for free use, free fire wood. Each site has a fire pit but we used our propane fire pit. I have stayed in sites on both sides of the Dolores river. When we were there the river was maybe a four deep, kids were having fun playing in the water and some fishing. All the sites that backup to the river of course are all back ins and they help you get into your spot. The office makes cinnamon buds on Saturday mornings. The office has a few food items and fresh ice cream cone dispenser. I use a Dish Network Satellite and always got great signal on both sides of the river. I'm sure there are a few sites that might have a problem getting a satellite signal. The OTA Chanels is like 2 or 3 if you have a good OTA antenna. We have T-Mobile for our cell service and it was not very good. Most of the time no signal in my trailer. I had to go outside to get a signal. It was very spotty so it didn't help trying to use my "Hotspot". The park has 2 wifi antennas. I was able to watch a couple Netflix shows and other times I could not. - Earl Balentine
Jun 2018 - $43.00
Very serene and scenic park. The park straddles the Dolores River with sites on both sides. We had a site on the back side right on the river (I am actually writing this review with the river at my feet and sitting behind my rig). They escort you to your site and the man backing me in is an expert. My wife wants to take him with us the rest of the trip. Lots of trees so plenty of shade. Several seasonal people with nice grass yards. I guess the only complaint is that there is only one bath house and you may have to walk a ways to get there depending on where your site is. The bridge to get to the back sites is pretty narrow, but doable. The park is gated. It is pretty far from civilization and is about 20 miles to Dolores and further to Cortez where the Walmart, gas stations, and grocery stores are. You only get three OTA stations - CBS, Fox News, and Movie Previews. Phone service seems to be OK. There is a nice short path in the park that follows the creek. - akeller156

Sep 2018 - $45.00
This park had spacious sites, most with trees. Many pull through sites and the roads were easy to move the biggest rigs. Easy checkin and they took us to the site and got us parked. Everything was very clean. They brought a portable fire pit so we could have a fire. They even brought some fresh baked cookies on our second day. We would definitely return here and make this a base to explore the surrounding area. The only minor thing was the sites could be a bit more level. - Donskiman
Jul 2018 - $50.00
Very spacious sights. HUGE pull through sites. The cleanest park I have seen. Convenient for Cortez, Mesa Verde and all the four corners has to offer. Three rental tents, if you can call them that, queen bed, coffee maker, heater and a huge deck that overlooks the valley and Mesa Verde. Super dog friendly. Owners are very attentive. Two other camp hosts to help you feel at home. McPhee lake entrance is across the street. Very quiet. Nice breeze comes up every evening. Common covered bbq/ movie watching/ gathering building with the views. Stayed four nights and will be back. - Mark McNown

The Views was perfect for us, clean, spacious, shady, private. Easy to get around. We were able to walk our dogs around the 42 acre property before heading to Phil's World for early mountain biking. Great park to explore from. Our kind of RV Park! - Pam D

Site was clean, gravel and (almost) level. We are 45 feet and tall and wide, therefore require open areas without encroaching trees. This site fit the bill perfectly! Great mountain views to the west. Close to Cortez and Mesa Verde. Basic internet was fine. The real stars here though were the wonderful managers. They not only helped us back into the site (which was easy anyway) but then were gracious enough to help us get our Traeger grill set up and even came back to help stow it away! (DH hurt his back a week ago and is unable to do any lifting.) In addition they gave sightseeing and restaurant suggestions in the area. Can't say enough good things about them. We will definitely return when in the vicinity. - Miss Ruthie
Jul 2018 - $17.00
The owners were very helpful and gracious. They took time to show us around, help us park and make sure every thing was to our liking. The sites are spacious with lots of room between sites. Some very open sites and some in trees. Our site was level. Power and water were great. AT&T signal was good. Activities include game night, yoga, and musical entertainment. - Ernie & Toni
Jun 2018 - $38.00
The new owners are working hard to improve their site. The sites are nice size with newly planted trees, picnic tables, and fire pits on a cement block. Two bands practice there so you can listen. The owner took us to our site then made sure all was well. Later he came to introduce us to folks that wash and wax Rvs and trucks. The price was very fair so we had both done. You have a wonderful view of the mountains and close to Cortez which is a cute town. Sadly the Durango fire was burning up the forest so there was smoke in the valley. Lots of things to do in this area. - Landa

Excellent USFS campground with clean sites, restrooms and grounds. Some sites have electric. Camp host and his wife were on top of things. We camped here in a 30' Class A with toad for 3 nights. Best reservable sites with electric in order are 4, 15, 5 and 3. Best non-reservable electric sites in order are 10, 14 and 6. If you don't need electric then go with 1, 9, 16, 7 or 8. Really enjoyed our short stay here!!! - Graybird
Jun 2011 - $15.00
Located up forest route 535 on a paved road this pretty campground has some sites with 30 amp power. Some sites are more out in the open and others are along side of the West Dolores River. We stayed in site #1 (non-electric) which was along the river and very private. It was a huge site with a picnic table and fire ring/grill. We loved this site and it was on the reservation system. The site faces south and we were able to get our dome satellite in. Didn’t see any mosquito's, just lots of butterflies and hummingbirds. The camp hosts, were friendly and very knowledgeable of the area. The bathrooms are located at the far end of the campground. Water is available with a threaded faucet and there is trash service. The closest dump station is Dolores River RV Park in the town of Dolores or Priest Gulch RV Park which is just off of hwy. 145, 35 miles north of Dolores. No cell service here. Great campground!! - jannie5

I spent 6 nights at this relatively new park, located about 2 miles north of Cortez. As I was staying after peak season, the park was relatively empty and very quiet. Although office hours were very sporadic, someone was usually just a phone call away. Staff was very accommodating. Nice new paved roads and level pull-through sites. - Phaeton40AH
Oct 2018 - $45.00
We stayed at West View RV Resort for two nights in October. This was in the off season so we were one of about eight units there.
Everything was pretty much perfect. Long flat pull thru site, beautiful and clean bathrooms, spotless laundry room.
The only negative was the Park WiFi which was pretty much useless. We had strong AT&T cell signal so it didn’t matter. - User3581
Sep 2018 - $24.00
I concur with TMN-15 June, 2018 review. Once the trees around the property mature, this will be a five star RV park. Only things I have to add in addition to TMN's review is cable TV is provided as well & there is plenty of overflow parking. Cable TV worked 100% of the time. WiFi worked 95% of the time. Excellent park. - Biggie2016

Nice shady park right on the Dolores River. We stayed twice this year in riverfront RV sites which are worth the extra cost. Showers and grounds are always kept clean and the owners are very nice, personable folks. Once a week in summer they host various food trucks including a portable pizza oven, the ones we've tried were very good and a nice convenience since the town is fairly small. - cfmelville
Sep 2018 - $45.00
From the road the park does not look like much, but once inside it is very expansive host any type of camping you desire. It is adjacent to the Dolores River and also has two small ponds between sites and the river. Staff is very friendly and they keep the CG spotless. My only gripe is that the gravel site for the RV is very narrow, but my rig fits. Nice quiet park and I would definitely stay here again. - Mike123
Jul 2018 - $35.00
This is a very scenic place. There are 2 ponds just off the river. You cross a bridge between the ponds to get to the path that goes along the river. The people are very friendly. It is quiet and relaxing. They have a ice cream social, pizza night and other various events during the week. - FatDash

This is a very well kept KOA. Landscaping is lovely although trees are sparse in some areas. It's well off the highway so very quiet at night & quite dark. There is an unobstructed view of the valley & mountains. There is a short walking trail to a small lake & city park. No swimming but we saw people fishing. The KOA pool was closed for the season. We would definitely stay here again. - storms

Close quarters as advertised. Amazing dog park Pool was great - could have been open longer hours Not a lot of shade which makes it very hot when in the sun. Could have more trash cans around the park. - Mabyl Magie
May 2018 - $47.00
This was an excellent family operated KOA whose leadership and staff take great pride in the campground. The facilities and grounds were exceptionally well maintained. We had to adjust our reservation twice because of RV mechanical issues and the staff were very accommodating. Our site was long, level, gravel with a couple trees (rare) on the door side. We had a nice view of the surrounding hillsides. This is an excellent location for getting out and enjoying Colorado's public lands or for just hanging out. - Moe and Flo are on the go
