We stayed in the electric/water only portion of the campground. The electric was 30 amp. Spaces are small with just enough room to let the slides out. It was hot in Denver while we were there and the power just could not keep up with the demand. Our air conditioner would barely work. There also is no dump on site. There is also a FHU area with 30 amp power. There are no reservations and these sites are hard to get. Wifi is not available on the sites; only in the clubhouse. The clubhouse is nice and spacious, food OK, drinks good. Not sure I would I would stay there again without a sewer hookup. - Phaeton Joe
Sep 2017 - $18.00
Called ahead and was told by the RV park host that there was one full-hook site available. When we arrived site #14 was empty so we took that. Very tight space with a 90-degree back-in. Ok for a motorhome but a large 5th wheel may have issues. Good 30 amp electric with very high water pressure. Make sure you use a restrictor. We went to the bar to pay for our site. Very friendly lodge. Dinner was a huge smothered burrito which was delicious. We will be back. - StarlifterFE
Oct 2014 - $18.00
This park is strickly for Elks Club members and their guests only. A very nice park with 40 sites. 50 amps FHU $20, 30 amp FHU $18. Water and electric only $16. They say they have a dump station. The lounge is very nice and they have lunches and dinners. We would definitely stay here again if ever in the area. - kathiecarlson

I cannot believe this place. We reserved it because it is billed as the only RV Park in the city of Denver. We wanted to be close to downtown, so visit the mint, and museums. Although the park itself is reasonably clean, the neighborhood is horrible. I felt like I was staying in an inner city ghetto. Its on a major street, sirens constantly all night, and hookers walking the park! They actually knocked on our door and offered, well, you can figure that out! We didn't have a car, and when we walked a few blocks to a liquor store, we were approached by someone offering to sell us marijuana, and by a beggar. We had breakfast one morning at a nearby restaurant, where we met a local cop. From her, I learned that the owner of the RV Park also owns the run down, seedy motels and trailer houses surrounding it, and is uncooperative with law enforcement. Her comment was, "Why in the world is someone like you, staying at that dump?" Absolutely avoid this place at all costs. - Mallory
Jun 2006 - $30.00
Good news: Close to Hyland Hill's Waterworld. Bad news: More squatters than RV'ers. Make sure you lock everything as it sounded like the police were busy enough in this area. - dpthdiver
May 2006 - $35.00
A big disappointment given the lovely pictures on their website. The neighborhood is crime central. I witnessed the coke machine being stolen in the middle of the night. I will not return. - BobbieM

The roads are winding and they're not clearly marked, so it is difficult finding out where to go.
We were woken by police officers shaking our tent at 4 AM, as was everyone else at the campground. It was horrifying.
It is always very full, and there are tons of loud children and infants. - Hayley W
Jul 2015 - $13.00
We are full timers and spent late May through August in this park. This is the only park I know of in Denver area that is NO reservations - which is great. You can almost always get in during week days, and often on weekends, just by showing up around the noon check out time. First come, first serve. The 2 catches are that you must be out one day after 14 days, and you can't occupy the park on holiday weekends - 4th of July, Memorial Day, etc. They are reserved for boaters with passes. You can buy an annual $16 senior pass, which eliminates the $7 a day entrance fee. We paid $12 a day, plus the one time $16. Wonderful, spacious sites by the lake, and some not so spacious further back. - charlyhors
Jul 2015 - $19.00
We stayed here about 4 years ago, and the quality has stayed about the same, the sites are spacious, and its a good value for the $$. The fishing is ok and they have one dock near the boat ramp you can also fish from. The rangers are very helpful in seeing you are sucessful in catching something. I wish they had at least a dump station on site. - Fitzjohnfan

We found a gem, but... It is now closed while the county makes rules for the campground. On the northeast side of Denver, we arrived about 8pm. Looking for a stop-over site for 1 night, we opted to avoid the other tacky run-down campgrounds along I-76. We chose to drive 6 miles for a quiet night. Arriving at the clean park/fairgrounds we looked for a sign to find the camp sites. We did find the camping locations using the internet. Parking on concrete and blacktop, all sites were very close together parking-lot-style and were marked "reserved" or do NOT park here. Although their website http://www.co.adams.co.us/index.aspx?NID=396 lists 4 separate camping sites, there is a 5th new camping area with an additional 4 sites with 50 amp and 30 amp hook-ups (no water). The nice sites are across the street - East - from sites 1-8. These new sites back up to the green park surrounding the Mann/Nyholt Lake. The area is gravel and almost level. A picnic shelter is at one end of the new sites. No water at these new sites. Verizon wifi was strong. Although no one from the county administration building was around to help us find a site, a local lady was very helpful. There were no activities the night that we stayed, and it was very peaceful. No late registration box available, so we paid in the morning before leaving. No Verizon phone and MiFi connections. We would return, but call first to be sure it is again open. - AluminumCloud
Jul 2012 - $15.00
This is basically a place to overnight, it is not a destination. Being a fairgrounds, the sites are meant to oblige 4H and rodeo campers who need to be near their livestock, but can be used by anyone where there are no events scheduled. There is an excellent park only a few hundred yards to the east, and good fishing in the lakes there. There is no shade and all RV's must use the dump station which is in the wrong location on the map given to you at check-in. Also, the woman who handles the bookings can be very cranky. A good place to park for us since we were visiting family nearby, and very inexpensive. - je23dr13
May 2012 - $15.00
We stayed here for three nights and enjoyed our stay. We had 30 amp service and water. The first two nights were very quiet. Only one other RV. On night three, ten rigs arrived between 10 p.m. and midnight. They were part of the work crew setting up for an event at the fairgrounds. The place got very busy. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. so plan your arrival accordingly or call ahead. Staff was super to work with. - Traveller101

Oct 2018 - $42.00
This park is located on I-70 about 10 miles west of downtown Denver. It has gravel driveways and site pads, well covered with gravel meaning no dust. We had a pull through site with full hook ups, 50amp electric. The WiFi was excellent. The bathroom/shower were good and kept clean. It's kind of an odd arrangement in that you get a key to one of the 7 or 8 restroom/shower combinations. At any rate, nothing super special here but a good solid experience. We paid $41.80 per night. - Coopsecondact
Sep 2018 - $42.00
This park is basically a gravel parking lot with no extra frills, but it worked well for us. Our space was pull thru, fairly easy to get in and out, and nice gravel. We had full hook ups but we had to run the electric cord and the water hose under the rig to the hook ups on the opposite side. The sewer was on the correct side. They had free WIFI but it seldom worked. The women in the office was very nice. We used the public transportation to go into Denver and the bus stop was very close (maybe a block). There was a lake next door with walking paths. - JackieD
Sep 2018 - $40.00
We were going to stay three nights, but left after two. The office was closed Sunday and Monday so couldn't get number for the laundry room, and I had laundry to do.They had a paper with our site number on it and that's it. No number for the laundry, restroom or shower. The sites are roomy, and the roads are wide. People raced thru here not paying attention to the speed limit. Dogs barked all the time. - Sheila Rosson

If you are thinking of staying here after reading these reviews and wondering 'can it be that bad' or 'maybe it has changed' or 'wow there are a lot of picky people' - well you are wrong. Unfortunately I have a 7AM appointment for service on my RV or else we cannot continue our trip and this was the closest RV park with availability otherwise I would just drive away and forget about the 67 dollars it is costing us for the evening. It is dirty, rocky, not pleasant to look at. Twinned up with your neighbors door so no privacy. Literally a parking lot and dirt lot. Some sites have trees but the majority do not. Drove to the nearest grocery store, saw 4 cops patrolling, homeless people living in cart 'forts', teenage kids hanging around in the parking lot doing nothing (would like to say 'hoodlums' or 'gangs' but trying to give them the benefit of the doubt). So far the worst RV park I have ever stayed in, and hoping it stays that way. - rayzorben

The place is nothing but a big dog toilet, with rude hosts to make your stay even more miserable. Do yourself a favor a find somewhere else to stay. - Jonathan H
Sep 2017 - $49.00
Whilst not good, this was not the worst we have stayed in! You stay here due to the proximity to the city centre (7 miles) as there are no other parks around. We have friends who live 5 miles away so this was a very convenient location. VERY basic sites - water, electric, sewer. Our site was fairly wide pull-thru on a dirt surface. The people we dealt with were very nice and accommodating (had to get rid of wasps in power box!) NO wi-fi, NO cable but there are plenty of channels. $3 per wash!!! 25c per 5 mins for dryer! We stayed at the back end of the park where it was quite quiet even tho the light rail runs nearby. Reading other reviews, I think this park has been 'cleaned up' a lot with respect to permanents/security etc. Would stay here again if unable to get into State Park, (but just for convenience). - OzFrosty

Would not recommend. Nothing more than a parking lot. They turn off the water when it gets cold. They have picnic tables that they place on a hill. Water is every other site. No sewer. No trees. One shower facility. No other amenities. I have been to a number of fairgrounds and like this one the least. Their WiFi requires that you re-login frequently and blocked many sites (Netflix is a good example). Understandable with a large campground, but this one is very small. The wind comes off the mountain with no break. They have no trees or other shade. Don't show up at night unless you have support for backing in. It is pretty dim. - PeteAustin
Jul 2018 - $30.00
Location, location. Finding a spot in the Denver area is very hard. This park is near I70 and U.S. 6. Easy to get to most attractions. Tight spaces and a lot of turnover. Very nice picnic area and playground. Odd requirements to register. You must show proof of ins. and regist. for all vehicles. There are gravel pull throughs long enough for most rvs and nearby tow vehicle parking. A downside is little physical security. Park is open at night with no gate. Sheriff patrols occasionally. We had no problems but would have preferred more controls. Limited 50A sites. We would stay here again. - captaincakes
Jun 2018 - $30.00
Fairly quiet location. Sites are close together so if you have a bunch of slides on both sides and use your awning you aren't going to be happy. Level gravel site. - mrracechaser

If I could put minus stars I would. We have stayed at this park off and on for 3 years due to required surgeries at the nearby Hospital. Our first stay the sewer backed up and flooded the entire grounds under and in front of our trailer. Park Maintenance would NOT clean up the mess or even offer. My wife and I were outside in the snow digging trenches to drain the filth away from our unit. It wouldn't have been so bad but I am was 69 yo and just had surgery. This was 2016 We stayed here again from August 2017 until present due to more required surgeries. The park has the same problems with the sewer backing up, thru-out the park now, and the Laundry Room will flood if all wash machines are used at same time. The water keeps shutting off when the temperature gets above 90 degrees! There is dog waste everywhere and the new Manager seems to not care as her dog waste is not picked up either. The electrical system thru-out the park needs to be re-done. The new manager took her dog into the office when it was a puppy and it peed everywhere on the carpet and left to dry. It smells like an outhouse at times. There is always a sign on the office door on weekends now stating that the "park is full." New management seems to really care about the park though, I guess. They paid some five-thousand dollars to put plants down the side of the Entrance Road instead of fixing the sewer, water, electrical system and the other problems. Word thru-out the park has it that the new manager wants everything taken out of the little store in the office because she doesn't want to deal with it. They have NO WiFi unless you are in the office and have the code, which they don't give out. One more surgery and we are out of here, to never return, if we don't get thrown out first! The new manager is forcing out people she doesn't like! She fought with one couple that had been here for 20 years so much that they just up and left. They were in their late 70's and never caused a problem! - oldman35x2
Aug 2016 - $40.00
I would give this "campground" zero stars if I could! My husband and I were headed to Wyoming, then on to the Canadian Rockies, when we ended up needed to get our transmission looked at. The nearest facility that would even look at our motor home was near Denver, so we needed a place to stay for one night. There are very few campgrounds in the Denver area, and even fewer that had a space last minute. I called Barr Lake while we were en route. The woman who answered the phone said she was about to leave for the day, but would reserve a spot for us, we could do a self check in. Well, after driving and driving, we finally found the place around 6pm or so. I walked to the office, which was closed, but noted that our name was assigned a spot. I should back up and say that we were NOT impressed with the looks of this place before we even pulled in! As another reviewer mentioned, this looks like a permanent trailer park, with lots of junk laying around. We drove thru the place and could hardly believe how bad it was. After 11 years of rv-ing, this is honestly the worst "campground" we have ever seen! The junk was bad enough, but what really turned us off were the people wandering around the place, who looked to be on drugs, and/or were drug dealers. Very creepy place.
We'd been driving all day and were beat, but did NOT want to stay here. We found the site we'd been assigned to, then noticed that the electrical box had a pad lock on it! How on earth were we supposed to hook up? This dump wanted $40 bucks a night, plus an extra $2.00 per night for our little puppy (which is a joke!). We were so creeped out by this place we decided not to stay, it just did not feel safe! Ended up spending the night in a Walmart parking lot. The first time we've ever done that before. Certainly not comfortable or ideal, but it was 1,000 times better than Barr Lake! Oh, and the "camground" was also right next to a busy expressway and railroad track! - fly girl

We stayed in this park for 2 months and did enjoy our time there. There were some negative items, but will start with the positive. The creek was close by and a walking/biking trail close. The grass was maintained by the park and it was well shaded with mature trees. Shopping for anything you need is close by. The negatives: close to a busy highway, but that didn't bother us. Try to get a site away from the highway if you can. There were problems with sewer at times, but management promptly took care of that. The Denver area is extremely hard to find places to stay and so this was the best we found. Would stay again. People very friendly in the park. Price reflects monthly rate. Wi-Fi only available in the office. - happy travelers
Jun 2013 - $35.00
I stayed here for over a month. At first glance, this place looks shabby, and it has an inconvenient entrance/exit, but once you're there, you start to see it's actually a pretty decent place to stay. It's 20 min to downtown, about 45 min to Red Rocks and it butts up to Denver's amazing run/bike trail. - riding_on_air
Jul 2012 - $38.00
This is a former mobile home park. The park has lots of shade and level concrete pads to park on. The location is nice because it is next to the creek. However, the grounds could use some updating. I don't think anything has been updated here since it was first constructed 60 years ago. Price seemed a bit steep at $38. We were charged for four people even though we had only two adults and two children under two years old. Good Denver metro area location. Most people staying in the park are long-term residents. - je23dr13

Senior mobile home park with mostly permanent residents. There are about 15 transient sites. Site was small, but adequate. Restrooms and shower were Ok, but need paint and maintenance. - Wayne B41
Jul 2018 - $49.00
Location was good for us visiting family in the area. As others have stated, the speed bumps in the park are jarring. Our site was VERY tight, and there was a puddle of water to the rear left of the site. I suspect the puddle was from their sprinkler system leak. We parked our tow vehicle perpendicular to the RV in front, and had just enough room. This is essentially a mobile home park that has a limited number of sites for transients. We had no problems here, and it was pretty quiet during our 3 night stay. - novastorm
Jul 2018 - $66.00
I stayed at South Park twice in a two week period and I will NEVER stay there again.
A Walmart parking lot would be a much better place than here.
Both times I was treated rudely by the groundskeepers and swore at twice by them!
And, when I went to the office to ask for one more night they brought up my reservation on the office computer, then said..."Sorry, we are all booked up until next spring!"
So I said, "Well, I guess I have to leave in the morning.", to which the park manager said "Yup!"
Well, at my next stop the very next night I was looking at my paperwork and realized that I had indeed already paid for that night...but they just let me go and still haven't refunded me for the extra night they charged me for.
I have several friends that live there and have been told that since I left 3 1/2 weeks ago nobody has been in the site I was in both times.
The park is very nice, laundry facilities are good and the swimming pool is awesome, but the RV spaces are so close and tight to back into, plus there are cars and trucks parked in the street that makes backing into the sites even more difficult since the sites are barely long enough for the RV's, let alone the tow vehicle.
30 amp plug was loose and had to use a padlock to hold my surge protector plug from falling out. Found out later that it is against park rules to padlock the power pole.
Plus, the pool and laundry room closes at 8 pm...hardly enough time for travelers to take advantage of these amenities.
It is almost like they really don't want RV'ers to stop there...only year round residents! - John_D
