Stayed here one night during Labor Day weekend because it was the only place that didn't require a 3 night stay. We were traveling from Wyoming back home to Dallas. Park was very crowded and there is no water at the sites - only electric. We couldn't find anywhere to fill our rig! We were told the dump station but no potable water was available. No ac in the bathrooms and it had to be 100 degrees in there! The nightly rate was $36 but unless you have a Colorado State park pass they hit you up with a $9.00 entrance fee. Also there was a tree next to our site with low hanging limbs that scraped the top of our rig! My husband had to climb on top of our rig to clip off some of the branches. For $45 a night we'll find an rv park somewhere with hookups! Many of the sites are pull through but any rig 30' or more would probably have to unhook the toad. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We were in Loveland to attend the annual Sculpture in the Park event in Benson Garden. The state park was convenient to the event otherwise I would not have stayed here. The pull through sites are close together.....it feels much like a parking lot. We used it mainly for sleeping and made sure we had something to do during the day so we did not have to be in the park. For most of the people staying in the park, I think they liked it because it is on the edge of a large lake and there were plenty of water toys that were brought in. It just wasn't a place that I loved. The facilities were clean. We did not use the laundry but it was there. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

I stay here at least once a year, usually in the fall, and it's usually my last trip of the year before winterizing. I try to always stay in site 58 at the end of Loop B, what I feel is the best site. I always have a fantastic time and I hate to leave. The sites are pull-throughs with electric hookups only. There is a lot of room, and most sites have a tree or two. Because you don't need to worry about water or sewer, if you stay here with a friend you can both face each other if you're next to each other, making a common area that is really nice. There are some good views of the lake here and there, but you usually have to walk down to it to see the whole thing. There is a nice, cement path that goes along most of it, and you can use it to walk into town or to the swim beach. Be sure to walk out to the hunting areas to get out into nature a bit. The dump station can be busy on Sundays, so prepare for a wait. There are water spigots in a lot of places, so there is usually not a line for those. The picnic tables and fire rings are in good shape, but the pavement can be a bit rough. Sites are level, though. Bathrooms are in great shape, and the showers are nice. There is playground equipment, but note that the equipment at Loop C can be squeaky and loud if kids are on the swings. This is a great place for winterizing. If you run out of time to do it at your campsite, just go to the huge parking lots near the marina (if it is closed then the parking lots will be pretty empty). Everyone here is really nice, and no one seems to mind. The marina isn't big, and neither is the visitor center. There is no store or restaurant, but there is a gas station nearby outside the park. This place is awesome! We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

This place has NO SOAP IN THE RESTROOMS. Like EVER. They just don't stock it, and there are no dispensers. You have to remember to bring hand soap each time or else you can't clean yourself. There's no sewer, only a dump station, and you have to share the water because there are only spigots intermittently throughout the park. You also have to hit the change machine and insert quarters in order to take a shower. It's a pretty setting, though rather brown and empty in fall. AT&T cell service was not good, and functioned somewhat intermittently and quite slowly despite the fact that signal was available. The additional fee to park your car is annoying, as is the fact that if you buy an annual pass, it's only valid if you physically, permanently attach a big sticker to your windshield. I added $5 per day to the cost above, as we stayed 14 days and bought an annual pass for park vehicle entry for $70. It's not too far from Loveland or Fort Collins, but it's not particularly close either. We stayed here more as a last resort because all of the other parks were full, even in October. Book early near Denver! We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed hear while visiting relatives nearby. Things to remember is the price of camping does not cover the cost of the $8 daily entry rate. Also, the check in was extremely slow as the office at the park also registers boats- an extremely slow process. Although there is no sewer hook up, there are bathrooms and showers. The showers require quarters and I think it was $1 to get the shower started. All of the sites are pull through but area not big enough to leave the tow vehicle attached. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park has both good and bad qualities. The proximity to the lake is fantastic, and there is a lot to do. Sites are big and you are relatively far from other campers. You can have a motor home and two vehicles, or a motor home, tent, and one vehicle. The bad qualities are largely what you get for the price. They only offer electric hookups, with plumbed toilets (bring your own soap for hand washing) and showers nearby (showers will cost you some quarters as they are not included in the price). You also have to pay to get into the state park ($8 or so per day). There is no store and they do not sell firewood. With that said, I would stay here again because of the views and access to the path that goes along the lake. Just get ready to spend some money. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Find a site at the end of a loop to see the lake from your window, or a site at the other end of a loop for a mountain view. There are no sewer hookups so you may want to be near one of the restrooms. The playground next to Cottonwood D has very squeaky swings so it's pretty noisy during the day.

We spent 2 nights here as we were traveling through. The location worked well for us to visit friends and relatives. Fortunately they have 50 amp here as we had to run AC because of heat and campfires nearby. It worked out that we took a day to visit Rocky Mt. Nat'l Pk. Sites are asphalt and curved and not long enough for MH and toad to stay attached. Electric was fine; no sewer or water, restrooms and dump station nearby, many channels on broadcast tv, no wifi. Price high for limited utilities/ camping & daily fee, but typical of Co.state parks. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We have been to Boyd Lake several times. The last time we were here was 2016 and not much has changed. Still a good campground for the money and the proximity to the lake for boating is great! Not much to add as previously stated. Out site was level, good power and clean. We do use our patio mat to keep the gravel out as the sites are asphalt with gravel. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

$21 was the Aspen Leaf Senior pass price. We were a little disappointed at first because Boyd isn't nearly as nice as other Colorado state parks we have visited. Asphalt is pretty rough, sites are kind of short, only electric hook-up and not much privacy between sites. But, it grew on us and we enjoyed our stay very much. Great bike path. Nice view of the mountains. Lots of grass for dog walking. We didn't use the restrooms but the laundry room was nice. More trees in A loop where we stayed the first night and then moved to C loop in order to get satellite TV. Verizon wasn't very strong but I was able to use the hotspot. We would return. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

The nightly fee was $24 plus $8 per day use fee. If you going to be there longer than 10 days it would be better to buy a buy a yearly pass for $80. No water or sewer at the sites, but there are several water spigots on each loop that you can park at and fill up your tanks, or if you have enough hose you could fill without leaving your site. There is a dump station. Lots to do, hiking, biking, boating, many cities to visit near by and RMNP. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

All sites are short pull thoughs, electric only and very close to neighbors. For a quick overnight stay, it was fine, but I wouldn't want to spend any length of time here. The nightly fee is about $22 per night; but you also have to pay an $8 day use fee per day. The park is great; no water or sewer at the sites however. There are water spigots on each loop that you can park at and fill up your tanks and there is a dump station near the campground. I've stayed in many state parks around the country and this is one of the first times I felt kind of disappointed with a state park campground. It felt the closest to being more of a commercial campground where everyone is crammed together, though sites are spaced far enough apart where campers can pitch a tent next to their picnic table. We only stayed 2 nights which was enough for us. I don't ever plan to return to this park as a destination stay. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access from the interstate. Rate reflects the state park daily camping rate. Water spigots located in each row in all loops not at sites. Parking pads are curved but pull through. Great bike trail runs through the park. Great access to the lake. Easy access to the dump station. Reserve site online, there is a fee. Rate above includes having to pay a daily admission fee to access the park. Overall, a nice place. We had an end site near a bath house that was quiet, clean, and level. Only complaint would be that there was no soap available in the bath house to wash hands with! The showers are coin-operated but have good water pressure and are hot. We didn't have time to check out the lake as we were visiting family nearby but it was nice to camp by. We camped at Boyd Lake State Park in a Tent Trailer.
