We stayed in Lakeview, top of the hill not close to the lake, very windy. No Verizon cell service, drove through the canyon to golf course for cell and hot spot. Nice level sites, concrete. Golf course was very nice with cool canyons. We were there one week wish we would of been 3 days. Very clean with spacious sites we had full hook up. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in the Cedar Loop, electric only. We have a Parks Pass so didn't have to pay the daily fee, just the camping fee. We were only staying 1 night, so didn't need FHU. Cedar Loop only has about 15 sites, but all of them would have fit our 32 foot MH. Our site (58) was mostly level. Electric worked well. No cell service. Short walk down to the lake, maybe 50 yards. Site had a shelter with table and a fire ring. All gravel roads and pads in this loop. Roads were easy to negotiate. Main roads in the park had all been freshly repaved with asphalt. Showers looked clean, but we didn't use them. Camp host was directly across from this site and was really nice. The park has a dump station we used on our way out and it was very clean. We would return if in the area. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground, big rig friendly, lots of space between sites. Site has concrete pad with a black top driveway. Picnic table has a covered roof. FHU at every site, quite surprised since I have found that most state parks do not have full hook ups. Dumpsters are conveniently spread throughout the loop. The only disappointment is the day use fee charged by the state. After paying the camping fee, the state charges an additional $8 per day for use of the park. It seems to me that fee should be included with the camping fee. I also discovered from other campers that Colorado omits the day use fee for veterans for the month of August. I had to go back and request a refund of the fee. Satellite reception is excellent, had good cell service with T-Mobile. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

The town of Rifle is great to visit. Don't miss a visit to the museum, worth every bit of the $5 fee. Rifle Falls SP is about five miles away; visit the falls, very attractive. Entrance fee is free since we already paid our day use fee.

Really Nice state park. Of note, must pay CO state park daily admission or annual pass. Sites are terraced up a hill with full hookups. Some have nice lake views. All are nicely spaced. Cement pads with gravel patios and tables. Lots of space for walking dogs. Very friendly camp hosts. Rifle a cute small town to visit. Be sure and check out Rifle Falls SP as well as Rifle Mountain municipal park where there were several rock climbers. Only drawback- no cell service or OTA TV. We are already planning a return. Overall Rating:

The RV park is well maintained. Sites are good size and ample space between. The sites are raked after each occupancy. We arrived on Friday afternoon and by 6 p.m., the site across from us was occupied by a camper, 2 tents (one on a truck bed), several vehicles and several dogs. Our beautiful view of the lake was completely blocked because of where they parked their cars. The rules say 6 adults per site, but they well exceeded that. We complained to a camp host, a ranger, and the park office. No one did anything. By Sunday night, the spot was empty. If it bothers you that rules go unenforced, suggest you avoid this campground on the weekend. Additionally, on the weekend, the lake really ramps up with boat and jet ski traffic. Lake activites, swimming. Would be really nice if they rented kayaks and canoes, though on weekends that might not work with all the boats, skiing, and jet skis. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We had an excellent view from our full hookup site #14. Rate does not include the purchase of a CO State Parks annual pass. That or a daily entrance pass is required in addition to the camping rate. We purchased the annual pass in January since we are planning to camp at several CO state parks this year. The lady working at the gate gave my husband a hard time when he drove in to the park a couple of times. She couldn't read the annual pass that was attached to our windshield and practically accused him of not having a valid pass. He had to find the paperwork and prove to her that we really purchased it. Not very pleasant being treated like a liar or cheat when entering the park. Anyway, other than that, the rest of the staff were very nice and friendly. The park is beautiful with well spaced out sites. We travel full time and work remotely, so we rely on cell coverage. Verizon and AT&T data did not work at all, but T-Mobile worked surprisingly well. Verizon phone worked only if we used the phone near our booster. This was a great place to stay to visit Rifle Falls and Glenwood Springs. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice and beautiful area! The campground is very well maintained, clean and all hook ups are easy to use. Would have giving it a 10 however NO shade at all. Sites are large and all utilities are accessible and the sites are easy to pull in to. We were in site #22 in the lakeview loop and loved it. The lake was really low and they really need some rain and LOTS of snow to refill them. Would recommend this park!! Wild life seen every morning and every evening really close to our campsite. One shocker was the additional $7.00 per day for the use of the state park above and beyond the nightly site rental price. Be prepared for the additional cost, however it is good at any State Park in Colorado. I think it was like $70.00 for a entire yearly pass!! We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We went to Carbondale and did the loop by the Fry Pan River to Rudi reservoir and saw some really beautiful color! Hit it just right. Also drove towards Redstone and up the Roaring Fork River which was also very pretty. Did some kayaking in the Rifle Gap reservoir which was really down, but still lots of fun. Plus you MUST go see Rifle Falls, beautiful!!

Park is about 10 miles from the interstate. The last 5-6 miles of the road are slightly narrow with a few curves but doable in motor home. A couple of sections of the roads inside the park are narrow for two way traffic but they are well marked. The sites are very large and level and parking is very easy. Good price for full hookups. The rate does not reflect the $10.00 reservation fee and the daily park entrance fee. We are staying several nights at Colorado State Parks so we purchased the annual pass for $70.00. This pass went on the motor home. Our tow vehicle was free as long as the vehicle is towed into the park at check in. You will receive a tow vehicle pass. We stayed here in a 40 foot motor home. Tips for other Campers:

Live music jam sessions on Saturday nights. Good location to visit Rifle Falls, fish hatchery and Glenwood Springs. Good location for a day trip to Aspen and visit to Maroon Bells. We rode a portion of the Glenwood Canyon bike trail, parked at the rest area at mile marker 121 and biked east along the Colorado River. Nice ride. Trailhead parking in Glenwood Springs was limited.

Rifle Gap State Park / reservoir is approximately 15 minutes north of the town of Rifle, Colorado. The Lakeview Loop is the only FHU loop at the campground and appears to be the newest, built within the last 10 years or so. Main interior roads are well paved as is the Lakeview Loop. The other, older loops, are gravel roads with electric or no hookups. A large variety to choose from! Our site, #014, was VERY level and has a good view of the reservoir. Asphalt road with a concrete pad and gravel patio space much in the fashion of other state parks. No issues with electric, sewer or water. Some previous posts complained of low water pressure when the campground is full, but we had no issues whatsoever! The main draw of the campground is the reservoir. Rifle Gap reservoir is an irrigation reservoir and water level was down 28 feet during our stay. The long, narrow reservoir is a great place for water skiing and boat traffic was very low despite the weekend. Boat ramps were long and wide, but there is no marina or store. Cell service was spotty, but we did have 4g with T-Mobile at our site. It did get very hot during our stay (102+) with some wind at night. Not much in the way of trees anywhere. Camp hosts were wonderful and friendly! We will be back! We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The main draw is of course the reservoir and water activities. But Glenwood Springs is only 30 minutes away! The town of Rifle is small, with only a few touristy shops. here is a City Market and Walmart for supplies. A MUST SEE is Rifle Falls just 10 minutes north of Rifle Gap! Amazing waterfalls and campground! (See our review)

Its a 6 mile drive up the mountain from Rifle, and absolutely worth it. Our site (114) was an easy in and out pull through and pretty private. The site is gorgeous. Everything worked well and was well maintained, but no WiFi. Highly recommended. We should have stayed longer. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go up the hill from Rifle. My GPS indicated that there was no RV access but this is not correct. I went up from New Castle, which is well out of the way and 12 twisting miles up rather than the 6 from Rifle. (New Castle is a cool little town, but take the RV up from Rifle.) Going down through Rifle was much easier and a lot shorter.

My wife and I stayed at Rifle Gap State Park for 2 nights. The park is located up on a hill outside the town and the views are wonderful. The park was very clean and quiet ... well except for the birds in the morning but no complaints about them. The cement pad was long enough for our 41' 5th wheel. One word of caution, the area next to the pad that has the hookups is filled with rather large, rounded, rocks. Make sure you give yourself enough room on that side of your rig so you don't have to navigate your way through the ankle breakers each time you have to access your utilities. Other than that, it was a wonderful place to rest for a few days. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.

There is more than one campground at Rifle Gap, CO but we stayed at the Lakeview loop since we were not boating. This is one of the cleanest public camp sites we have been in, both the spaces and roads are paved and the family area with fire pit / picnic table is small gravel vs dirt, so your RV stays cleaner. These areas were actually raked when we got there. I do not know if the raking was due to the campground host they had or if it is a rule at the campground but it is a nice touch. The spaces are a comfortable distance apart and they have a nice restroom / shower facility in the middle of the campground. You are not a long way from the lake but it is uphill all the way home so if you take a anything other than a car you need to be aware of that. We stayed near the bottom of Lakeview loop, the upper ones have a better view of the lake but are more susceptible to winds that kick up from time to time. We will definitely stay there again. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

Rifle Gap State Park is 7 miles north of Rifle, Colorado. We stayed in Lakeview Loop in sites 13 & 27. Lakeview is full hookup with excellent water quality but low (<40 psi) water pressure. Large, well groomed sites (thanks to the park hosts). Pads are level paved concrete pads. Wide asphalt roadways. Great campsite views of the lake and mountains. Clean restrooms. Pay showers. Very quiet park (no large roads or railroads). We would stay again. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Fifth Wheel.
