The park is 10,000 acres in the middle of 80,000 acres of cow country at 8000' MSL. Beautiful mountains and streams. Fished the Rio Costilla and visited the lakes (4wd recommended). No hooks ups, closest other camper was 1/2 mile away. This is where you go for fresh air and to avoid the crowds, not the cows. Cleanest porta potties I have ever been in! The park is not open year round. - Rivercityjeff

This older park has a new owner and is making many improvements to the property. On-site propane, convenience store with gas. Affordable Laundry facilities. Great wifi. Adding 50 amp full hookups. Highway noise during the daytime quite at night. - pattipanuccio
Jul 2017 - $20.00
Showed up on my motorcycle needing a tent site, the people running the park were super nice and very helpful. Place was very clean, nice showers, great people. Stayed one night on my way to my destination, and made sure to stop on the way back. They were having a hog roast for local people and invited me to join in. Met a lot of very nice local people and will definitely stay there again when I get out that way again. Highly recommend this park. - OhioBiker

Booked this campground after reading other reviews. Very disappointed upon arrival. Staff disorganized, spaces extremely close to another. Basically a dirty parking lot with hookups. Moved out after 1st night. - PackerBob
Jun 2019 - $19.00
We were there towards the end of June and we still had snow at our site making it hard to get to the fire pit and picnic table so we didn't use. Our first site that we reserved was too small (internet was incorrect) but host allowed us to pick any walk up site that would work. The campground was full. Great weather of 68 for the high and down to 33 at night. Plan for a slow journey of the 4 mile gravel road and we used 4X4 in some spots to get up the hill and make the turns. - Bosleys Mom
Jul 2018 - $30.00
Staff is completely uninterested in seeing you, it's like you are an inconvenience for showing up. They seemed put out I was interrupting their conversations by checking in. The spot was dusty and not even close to level, our jacks fully extended on one side couldn't compensate. There was no view of the lake which appears to be drying up, and the store wasn't stocked with anything mostly empty shelves. We had planned on 2 nights, left after one. There are many beautiful spots in Colorado, this isn't one of them. - The Reverse Snowbirds
Jul 2014 - $32.00
This park has gone down hill in the last 3 years. Needs a lot of maintenance. Restrooms and showers were filthy. Grass in sites needed mowing. Lake store is very overpriced. And park roads are in very poor shape. This park could be very nice with proper management. Would not stay there again. - Allan wager
Jun 2013 - $28.00
Beautiful park at Monument Lake, about 10 miles west of Weston. The Highway of Legends is very scenic both ways, from La Veta in the north or Trinidad in the east. Park has cabins, RV spots, and tent sites, all under big Ponderosa pine trees. The lake is stocked with trout every 10 days, and we managed to catch a bunch with salmon eggs. There is a restaurant, and you can even rent a motel room for the night. Lake is gorgeous. People are friendly. Bath house very old but clean. We spotted a bear that was roaming around. Glad we drove the extra miles. - texasbirdie
