Overall Rating:

Long and spacious sites - some among the pines and shaded, some out in the open and sunny. Interior roads are gravel and dust with some tight spots. We had to pay a little more because we are 44' but our sites were plenty long enough for coach, car & tow dolly. No WiFi but Verizon was good strong signal. OTA TV was limited, but sufficient. Plenty of places to walk the dog, but no off leash area. Vet office right next to FamCamp, must register dog with them if stay is 2 weeks or more. Busy train tracks, with horn, right next to FamCamp. Didn't bother us, but beware, sounds like train will be coming through your site. Lots of bird activity, some bear sightings recently, but none while we were there. Office staff were extremely helpful and nice. Charcoal grills provided, chimineas available for rent. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Close to Co Springs, so lots to do. Farmers' Market on Sat. Be sure to visit Manitou Springs castle and Broadmoor Hotel, Seven Falls, Old CO City. Commissary is smallish, but Fort Carson is just down the road and much bigger commissary & BX

Great park. Sites far apart in the pine trees. Large enough for my 40’ motorhome. Roads are very wide and easy to navigate. Sites and roads are gravel. All connections are conveniently located. Staff friendly, bathhouse nearby. Did not use. Able to use my satellite, even with the pine trees. Lots to do in the area. Would definitely come again if in the area. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Park was maintained in a pristine condition. The employees cared. Scenery was fantastic. Site was level with full hookup. Water pressure great and water clean. Charcoal grill vice fire ring. Brought own metal fire pit. Had to get approval from office but easily done. I plan to stay here on every trip thru the area. Sunset picture taken 20 feet from trailer. Two thumbs up. I have stayed at a number of military famcamps but this one is far and away the best. The sites are nestled in pine trees, and yet surprisingly, I was able set up my satellite with no effort. The park is relatively quiet despite proximity to I-25 and some railroad tracks. Check-in was quick and efficient. The interior roads are easy to navigate although big rigs will need to exercise some caution. There is no WiFi in the park per se. There is WiFi hotspot at each of the bath houses and the office. If that is not sufficient you can rent a mifi hotspot for $5/day. I had very strong cell service and was therefore able to hotspot my phone for internet needs. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Despite an earlier tip the Academy Chapel is NOT closed, nor was it ever scheduled to be torn down. It was scheduled for extensive repairs and refurbishment, however, that was put on hold indefinitely as the funds were diverted to Tyndell AFB for hurricane damage repairs. There is ample shopping and dining out of either the north or south gate of the base. A wide variety of nightlife is available in downtown Colorado Springs which is about a 20 minute drive from the Academy.

Pull thru site with no one next to us. Great views from our patio area. Had to use leveling blocks to level. Utilities worked fine & easy to connect. Gravel site long enough for RV & towed. Patio area also gravel with metal picnic table. Good AT&T cell service. Friendly, professional & helpful staff. Have stayed here several time & will keep coming back when in the area. Stayed here 3 nights in a motorhome, $25.00 per night. Military or DOD civilians only. The people at the check in station were very nice and helpful. This campground is located in a beautiful setting, the sites are gravel but mostly level with the utilities in a good location. The bathroom facilities were up to date, roomy and clean. We sure did enjoy our stay here. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Wonderful campground nestled in a pine tree forest. Our gravel pull thru was extra long and level. Lots of space between sites. FHU and picnic table. No wi-fi or cable but we had no problem using our satellite. Weak ATT signal for my cell phone. Lots of room to walk the dog. Great price on propane and friendly staff. Great place to stay and visit all the area attractions. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Small but adequate commissary and exchange on base. Great visitors center (be sure to watch the film). They will be tearing down the iconic chapel in January so I am glad we visited now. The reconstruction of the chapel will take 3-5 years.

This is an Air Force FamCamp for use by military ID holders. Reservations for retirees accepted 60 days in advance, gravel sites and roads, high water pressure, less & less satellite friendly sites each year because the beautiful pine trees are flourishing. Strong Verizon signal. Park mostly full Sun-Thurs of our stay in early Aug. Park is a pleasant, place to stay for a few days and we recommend more than just a stop over. Multiple trains each day, while noticeable, were not offensive. No diesel on base. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This is an Air Force FamCamp, so of course you must have a military ID card to use it. It is very beautiful, full of Ponderosa pines, but still just open enough for DishTV to work. The roads and sites are gravel. The sites are fairly level, with only a little leveling needed. The back-in sites are widely spaced, about 30-50 feet between sites; I didn't inspect the pull-though sites. There is no camp-wide Wi-Fi, but they rent Mi-Fi for $5/day or $25/week, and it provides a very good internet connection which I used to upload hi-resolution photos to Facebook. Didn't try streaming video on it. There are lots of places to walk your dog, but no dog park. If you want to play catch with your dog, you can do what I did, and walk them to the lasertag area. It is secluded and out of the way, but still close to the FamCamp. This is technically against the rules, but the lasertag area is heavily wooded, out of sight, mostly. The laundry is $1.50/load. There was a burn ban while we stayed here, but gas grills were allowed. I would definitely stay here again if in the area. The Academy itself it beautiful, widely spread out with miles of undeveloped forests. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Excellent park and convenient to many towns, activities, and local attractions. Sites are fairly level dirt with gravel topping. Roads are easy to navigate pulling 40 foot fifth wheel. "Somebody" either took our after hours check in information or forgot to put it out. We just occupied and empty spot and figured it out in the morning. Staff are friendly but busy and seem to do better at returning messages rather than answering the phone. It all worked out. They say the park is open year-round with full hookup sites including freeze plugs on the water lines. If I wanted to winter in Colorado, I'd certainly consider this location. The area is suffering a server drought so be sensitive to burn issues. They do still allow camp fires in approved containers or you can rent a chimaera from them. I liked it. There are about 100 sites and it appears that all have some shade from towering pine trees. Train tracks on back side of park on which the coal trains run several times per day. They were not noisy. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent campground. Full hookups. Water pressure is high. Did not use Wi-Fi but Verizon worked well. About 100 sites in large pine trees. Pull-throughs and back-ins. Plenty of room in pull-through for our 34' fifth wheel. Generally pretty quiet except loud train whistles on occasion reminding me of the movie "My Cousin Vinny" at 0430 in the morning. Park requires military association or military sponsor. Was told that long term residents were limited to one month stays during the summer when camp is normally full. Advance reservations pretty essential during summer. A pretty campground in the pines... highly recommended for those that can tolerate the loud train whistles. I'll stay there again. Tips for other Campers:

USAFA North gate is closest to campground (exit 156 off I-25). Commissary and BX not far away but too far to walk. Stop in Outdoor Rec near the BX to get base hiking maps. For those looking for an extreme hike visit "the incline" in nearby Manitou Springs where Olympic caliber athletes often work out. Colorado Springs is home to USOC.
