New owners , couldn't have been more helpful . Highly recommend Cozy Hills Campground! Great place to relax with family! - Cgoody
Jun 2016 - $60.00
We planned a trip here to celebrate our daughter's 4th birthday. We booked six sites that the owner/staff selected to accommodate the needs for each of the families making the trip (i.e., travel trailer, pop-ups, and tents). From the moment we all arrived we loved our stay. Each of the staff were professional, funny and extremely helpful. The campground was clean, had nice tree-covered sites and a playground the kids spent hours playing on. Those who visited the on-premises cafe raved about it. As funny as it was for our 4 year old girl to want to have a family camping princess party, it was the perfect place for it. The owner was extremely helpful with some last minute arrangements that we requested to make her day, the perfect day. We WILL be going back and STRONGLY recommend this campground. - Johnny0924
Jun 2016 - $60.00
Check-in was easy since you paid in full at the time reservation was made. Campsites were dirt or mud depending on the weather, thought they should have been gravel at least based on the nightly fee. No sewer hookup on the sites. WiFi was excellent. Sites were full shade. The pool depth was just 3.5 feet.
Will not return to this campground based on the high nightly rate. - Nautilus

This is the place for you if you want to enjoy a peaceful campsite with good fishing nearby. Our site, #9, was right on the lake. Sites are well spaced and private with plenty of foliage in between. The location feels isolated, but close by are many restaurants and shops. We attended a couple of flea markets the weekend we were there. If you have children, there's not much for them to do (as in the "resort" type campgrounds). We have reserved a weekend in September and look forward to returning here. - poodlecamper
Sep 2011 - $17.00
We tent camped here for years, but have returned in our motorhome. Not too many sties for big rigs, but this place is just beautiful. If you like a primitive, lake front site, this is the best. - Doogiesmom
May 2010 - $17.00
Camped at Folly Point which is a peninsula on Bantam Lake. Very attractive area with lots of nature and biking trails plus great fishing. Campground sites have no hookups and has pit toilets that were adequate and clean, as was the entire camping area. There is a camp store nearby but it's only open on weekends early in the season. Camp road is rather rough and very narrow, so I would hesitate to bring a large rig here. (Ours was a small 16 ft trailer). We would camp here again (hopefully next time will be warmer and less windy). - jerry T160

Resort? I don't think so. No cable; no sewer; no WiFi - how is that a resort? When I called to book the site I was told that it was the last weekend for camping so the pool and hot tub were closed, there were no activities planned and the store would be closed. We really only wanted a place to park the motorhome while we did some leaf peeping so that didn't matter to us. I was surprised that we were still charged the full summer weekend rate, even when I asked for a discount. The campground looks like it is mostly seasonals and the sites are not kept up very well. Driving to our site seemed like we were driving thru an automotive junkyard. Our fire pit was overflowing with garbage and brush. Truly disappointing experience. - Bonnie66
Oct 2015 - $56.00
We first camped here in 2014. There is a lot to do here on the weekends. From Luau's and pig roasts to country hoe downs, carnivals, family dinners, dances and community fires, this place makes you feel at home. I heard all the bad reviews when the prior owners had the place but the new co-op has turned things around and are constantly improving the look and grounds of the campground. They have 2 well maintained pools and a hot tub. Large play space area for the kids, a covered pavilion, and well maintained laundry facilities. The bathrooms are heated and very clean. Free showers with large dressing areas. Everyone we have come across treats you like family. We have had such positive experiences here we are becoming seasonal campers next year here. - Nk1996
Jun 2009 - $55.00
Rate was the highest we paid in 2.5 years of full timing. We expected luxury, but it was substandard. Gravel road into park. Entrance to the park <very> unlevel. Check-in behind the pool, 50’ away from where you stop, and you walk across gravel/dirt/mud. After you register, you have to go forward, then back up to make a difficult u-turn to get to sites. Very friendly and concerned staff. Few sites for big rigs. Interior roads very tight and full of ruts; we almost bottomed out. A disaster. Wi-Fi was very slow; no cable and only a few TV stations with antenna. 30-amp hookup did not have a circuit breaker, electrical wire tied to trees. Don’t follow GPS; follow directions on website if you <really> want this experience. Weekend we were here was a “backyard carnival,” but they charged for almost everything. Laundry had one washer and one dryer. We will NOT be back. We’d rather stay at a Wal-Mart. - bbonnell

This campground is all about the lake, Lake Waramaug. Although no "waterfront" sites, most all sites have a view of the lake (many partially blocked by other campsites, though). Canoe and kayak rentals are available from a private operation on most weekends. Many people bring their own canoe or kayak. A smallish beach is great for kids. Sites are not large and maneuvering with a bigger camper can be a little challenging for most sites. Bathrooms were "state park clean", which I thought were fine. Not a lot of showers, each bathroom had one shower. Also, large sinks for washing dishes are at each bathroom building. Water faucets are available at a few spots providing fresh water, and you can fill a camper tank from them (but you can't stay hooked up). This is a good campground for families wanting a little bit "rustic" while tenting but still have some facilities (like bathrooms). Staff is polite, helpful, and outgoing. - Tom
May 2009 - $13.00
This is one of the gems of the Connecticut State Park system. Extremely affordable with a view of the beautiful Lake Waramaug from many sites. Litchfield County has so many great things to see and this Lake is one of them. The campground closed its concession/camp store for 2009 which is a real bummer. You used to be able to get coffee, breakfast and lunch here but no more. The beach is nice and you can walk or bike around the lake. We camped here in a tent and for $13.00 per night this is a true bargain. The sites overlooking the water are prime and book early. The only downside to this State Park are the bathrooms - they are always dirty. The security at the Park does a nice job and they strictly enforce quiet time and no more wood on the fire at 10 p.m. Our family of 5 camped here in a tent with friends and had a blast despite the rain. I would highly recommend this park to folks looking for a get away from it all back to nature camp experience without 40 foot RV's blocking the view. - User889

We spent two nights in site 53, a level large site backed by woods. Overall this park is green, shady, and clean. Nice little lake/beach area with a lifeguard. Staff are friendly, nights are quiet, and the rangers do rounds regularly. Unfortunately we won't be back because unlike 85% of US State Parks and 100% of US National Parks, CT state parks are NOT pet friendly, and we are unable to leave our dog home alone. Otherwise we'd be here for multiple stays. The rate is a state-resident rate. - poodlecamper

Aug 2018 - $50.00
Campsite hookups on the wrong side, site not clean when arrived, broken sewer hose connector in drain, unpleasant site attendant. Front desk was pleasant. New Owners, electricity erratic, 30 AMP NOT PROPER - Air conditioner would not operate, and refrigerator would not operate on electric. Brand new trailer. Took it back to the dealer, no problems with the unit. Sight next to mine told me he had same problem previously. Putting up new sign instead of taking care of immediate problem. Site 23 Terrible. Needs work primary seasonal. Will Not return. - cispet
Jun 2018 - $50.00
This is a fine place for an overnight. The pool and bathrooms make up for all factors that could be negative. Positive: pool is lovely and clean, bathrooms are new and clean, staff is very very friendly, laundry room is clean and new, quiet Negatives: not convenient to get to, lots of dirt as it looks like they are trying with the grass but no results quite yet, $50 seems a little high for a little parking spot in the dirt - Zeus16
Jun 2018 - $41.00
Maybe a 6.5 right now but I gave the campground a 7 for direction. This is a park in transition. New owners purchased the campground in Feburary of '18 and they have been making major improvements. Even in the week we were here we saw major changes. There is a lot of landscaping and hardscaping going on. The new shower/laundry building is very nice. WiFi is available at the sites if not super fast. Some things like wood decks and stairs are pretty rough but they are on the list to be repaired or replaced. The store is new but there is not much inventory yet. Electricity was an extra metered charge. Sites are pretty close but everybody was very friendly and considerate and we are pretty social anyway. The staff was excellent. There was a mixup in our paperwork and we arrived after the office closed. Ten minutes after calling the posted emergency number someone was there to check us in. There is a pretty busy road adjacent to the campground so traffic noise is noticeable. While not what we would consider a "destination ", we would not hesitate to stay here again when in the area. - Bandguy

Jun 2014 - $17.00
Nice State Park with excellent (water front) access to the Housatonic River. Also has a few "rustic cabins" for $50 a night available, on excellent water front sites. Not "big rig" friendly, some areas (especially sites along the river) have a lot of trees that can make maneuvering difficult. Sites up by camp office are a little easier for RVs to get into. Campsites in general are pretty good size. There are supposed to be a couple water faucets available where I believe you can fill a water tank, but we didn't see them. Camp staff told us a dump station is available, but off site, and we didn't see it as we didn't need it. Camp staff are polite, friendly, and helpful. Bathrooms are "state park clean", and the bathroom buildings have one shower each in them. Bathrooms also have a couple large sinks for cleaning dishes. Great campground for semi-rustic camping. Lots of fishermen and the river has great fishing. Also, just down the road is access to the Appalachian Trail, with a neat, quick loop hike - Pine Knob Loop Trail, about 2.5 hour hike with some climbing. - Tom

Oct 2016 - $45.00
Very dirty, the pool isn't open from viruses in water. Creepy neighbors, trashy, it's more like a very nasty trailer park. Took an hour to back into our spot! Our camper was the nicest there. Barley big enough for our camper. We would not have chosen to stay here but the rest of the campground were about closed for the year. We've seriously thought about traveling all the way back home 16 hours to take back our camper and stay in a hotel here..that's bad. Not A very nice town either. There is quite a few playgrounds here but they are very old, falling apart and very dirty. I would not recommend this campground. - M holmea
Jun 2016 - $45.00
I've never posted a negative review ever but I would be remiss if I didn't post that my husband and I would not recommend or return to this place. The memories of camping here are not positive. The topography is NOT travel trailer friendly AT ALL. I have a teardrop trailer and had difficulty navigating to our site. The owner are very nice. Many of the campers appeared to be intoxicated and seemed irresponsible. The views are of dumpy dilapidated trailers -- ownership has not taken pride in it's upkeep. Lawns have knee high grass, debris from former seasonals still there, platform "patios" with missing and rotten boarding. I would not suggest this place even at $10/night. We paid $45/night. We will never choose a camping site without checking reviews first. - dneilson2
Jun 2012 - $42.00
Called ahead for reservation. Told them the size of our motorhome. Told no problem with full hookup. Got there, and we were "too tall" to get up the hill for full hookup. Because of low hanging power lines had to stay in no sewer site. Campground is terrible. We bent our tail pipe coming in due to driveway not graded or kept in good condition. They wanted to charge $5 per person to visit. My family was coming for dinner. Guests are not allowed to use the pool, so why the charge? Probably because of the low life looking, permanent campers at the campground. Lots of aggressive dogs tied up outside of old, run down, dirty campers. This was absolutely the worst campground we have ever been in. Please take my advice and don't camp here. I only used this campground because it was the closest to my relatives. Next time, I'll drive 50 miles if I have to in order to not stay here! - jenbeau1

Jun 2010 - $14.00
This is a great, small, unimproved campground. I am rating it an "8" because it was clean, quiet, and a great location. This is a Rustic campground. No electric hookups, no sewer, no water spigots for filling camper tanks, and No dump station. There are a couple water "pumps" available. You really do have to crank the hand pump up and down to get water. The pit toilets, otherwise known as outhouses, are surprisingly clean. But they are still outhouses. Probably most of the campsites are tent only. I checked "not big rig friendly" because the entrance road is tight in spots, and some of the campsites are difficult to get into and are not really level. Okay, after all that, this is a beautiful, heavily wooded state park in a beautiful area of Connecticut (Litchfield County). The campsites are large and well spaced in small loops along the Macedonia brook. Our campsite (site 47) was clean, with a large fire ring that had been cleaned out. Our site was not level and when we backed in our trailer it was facing the wrong way, but that did not detract at all from our experience. It was not crowded at all when we were here, and very quiet. The hiking trails are not very long, but a few of them are surprisingly challenging. If you are not in good shape for climbing you may want to check with the Rangers about which trails to hike. The views at the top of the Macedonia trail are great, and worth the hike. There is a lot to see in the surrounding area, including a covered bridge, Kent Falls State Park, museums, and much more within an easy drive. As long as you understand the rustic type of campground this is, it is a great place for a quiet camping trip in the woods. - Tom

Aug 2018 - $34.00
This campground is located at Lake Compounce amusement park and it features cabins, teepees, a tenting area, and, of course, a large RV area. The campsites are laid out with water-electric hookups located in a shared grassy area on the driver's side of the sites. If the place is full, there will be a shared front yard between campers as well. Most people, I think, come to spend a few days at the amusement park. There's even a shuttle operating from the campground to the main gate of the park. The campground is about 10 minutes from I84 and the campsites are all pull-through, making it a handy place for an overnight stay. The sites are all water/electric (30/50 amp), no sewer. Individual shower rooms are available. There is campground WiFi - ours got slower as the evening progressed. There's a nearby power plant that can be heard non-stop in the near distance. I had a strong 4G signal and, since the campsites are pretty much out in the open, satellite TV is no problem. The campground has a play area, but the main recreation is the amusement park. - nazpaz
Oct 2017 - $28.00
Big rig friendly, large gravel sites, easy access in and out. We are two old people looking for safe places to overnight. This park was quiet and safe. Perfect stop for us. No sewer but it did have a convenient dump station. - Lama79
Jul 2017 - $60.00
This is a tricky review for me to write. Did we enjoy our stay? Yes, for the most part. Would we stay again? No. Here are the pros and cons of our visit. PROS: Easy entrance and friendly staff, we received our requested site, all pull through RV sites, level sites, clean bathrooms/showers, beautiful store/office, shuttle service to the amusement park, discounted tickets to Lake Compounce, convenient to grocery store and interstate CONS: Hot, dry sites with no shade (newly planted trees not large enough yet), W/E only-no sewer, limited amenities (they need a pool), not much to do at campground for older kids and adults, not enough space between sites, garbage truck coming through at 7 am, constant 24/hr droning of power plant and horrible sporadic odors from same. This park has a ton of potential and I don't think they're done with it yet. The cabins and teepees seem very popular and looked great. The tenting area is a bit tight but was well maintained. A staff member did tell us that there are rumors of a pool for next year. However, not sure what, if anything, they can do about a 650-ton a day solid waste incinerator for a neighbor. And frankly, that is a deal breaker for us. The constant sound and frequent odor were simply intolerable for us. We can't go back because of that. Too bad. - BDD
