This is a great, small, unimproved campground. I am rating it an "8" because it was clean, quiet, and a great location. This is a Rustic campground. No electric hookups, no sewer, no water spigots for filling camper tanks, and No dump station. There are a couple water "pumps" available. You really do have to crank the hand pump up and down to get water. The pit toilets, otherwise known as outhouses, are surprisingly clean. But they are still outhouses. Probably most of the campsites are tent only. I checked "not big rig friendly" because the entrance road is tight in spots, and some of the campsites are difficult to get into and are not really level. Okay, after all that, this is a beautiful, heavily wooded state park in a beautiful area of Connecticut (Litchfield County). The campsites are large and well spaced in small loops along the Macedonia brook. Our campsite (site 47) was clean, with a large fire ring that had been cleaned out. Our site was not level and when we backed in our trailer it was facing the wrong way, but that did not detract at all from our experience. It was not crowded at all when we were here, and very quiet. The hiking trails are not very long, but a few of them are surprisingly challenging. If you are not in good shape for climbing you may want to check with the Rangers about which trails to hike. The views at the top of the Macedonia trail are great, and worth the hike. There is a lot to see in the surrounding area, including a covered bridge, Kent Falls State Park, museums, and much more within an easy drive. As long as you understand the rustic type of campground this is, it is a great place for a quiet camping trip in the woods. - Tom

Traveling in a 38 foot coach we stayed 6 nights in a site for big rigs. The good....If you desire to stay close to New Haven then this is a good option, maybe your only option. This RV Park only has three sites (full-time residents occupy all other sites). Big coaches need a gravel pad, so we give this RV Park a 5-star rating, for the thick gravel pad. This is a very quiet park even though the main (and busy) road is right out front. The laundry facility is clean and equipped with modern washers and dryers. The bad.....If you're traveling with a dog there's no defined dog area, or any area to walk your dog. If you have satellite you will not receive reception here because of all the tall trees surrounding the perimeter of the sites. Also, none of the sites offer any privacy and if you visit during the hot summer, no shade trees. Today is Monday and the park WIFI is not working. We live in the age of WIFI technology and there is nothing to stop this RV park from investing in doing WIFI properly. For some users such as ourselves, WIFI is an important feature and was one of the reasons for our stay here. We know enough not to count on a good signal over the weekends, but during the weekday there is no excuse. We even have the WIFI-Ranger on our roof with a direct-line-of-sight to their WIFI source. There are no trees in the line-of-sight, and the distance is not a factor. This is not a RV Park where you go to sit outside and relax. However, we enjoyed our stay here and we would stay here again. - JDC10

Old worn out RV park suitable for a overnight. Sites are some gravel most dirt and somewhat level. Utilities are generally placed mid site and work as expected for a park of this age. Cell reception AT&T and Verizon good. - lllkrob

It's ok for a one night stop. There is free internet but the antenna is mounted low and where I was, it was blocked by 3 trailers taller than my moterhome. If you are not in line of site of the antenna, forget it. The laundry is $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry. Cable TV was good. - Darngoodnwell
