Overall Rating:

Just spent two days at this park. We had just purchased our fifth wheel and needed a place to try out all the systems. This park is beautiful. All RV sites are FHU, unusual for a state park. We made on line reservations and also checked in on line. Glad I did that as there was no one at the check in kiosk when we arrived. The park is well laid out and no confusion getting to our site. Interior roads are roomy and asphalt so no dust. Sites are clearly marked and our site was tagged with our name and a tag for our truck. Sites are asphalt for the rv and additional space on back and one side is sand and fine gravel and very level. Sewer connection, water, and electric (both 30 or 50 amp) easy to reach. Water pressure was a tad low but did not present any problems. All sites are spacious but ours (41) was almost secluded on the right and left. Some sites were more shaded than others. Each site has a very large picnic table and fire pits are far enough away to avoid smoke in your windows. Only one bathhouse for the park but it was central and fairly new. It held 4 handicap rooms with toilet, shower, baby changing station, and sink. There were additional shower stalls, all were private rooms with just changing area and shower stall. All were very clean. On our second day a ranger stopped by to make sure everything was working out for us. We had no complaints. Park has no wifi, not unusual for state parks, but our Verizon service was strong and we used our hot spot to use our computers with no problems. No cable but OTA TV reception was good with many channels available. Many places to walk dogs (on leash only) but lots of fields to explore. There is a trail around the pond but if you drive to the main entrance there are many things to do in that part of the park. You can rent a boat canoe or kayak or fish, visit the nature store and not to forget Go Ape zip line course which I did before this trip. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Plenty to do in the area but we really loved the food at Grain restaurant only 2 miles from the campground. Brave of heart must do the Go Ape zip line.

Lums Pond is a lovely little campground. When we arrived, our site (#70) was a mud pit on the passenger side of our truck. There was squishy grass all around and more rain was forecast. A gentleman from the site across from us came over to let us know he had been in site #70 before us, but it was too flooded for him to stay in. He wanted to spend one more night and moved across the road. When I booked our reservation online, there was no way to tell from a photo probably taken in summer that this site would turn into a bog with rain. Thankfully, the gentleman encouraged us to move before we hooked up to water and electric. He let us know that sites, I believe #1-4, are "walk-in" sites and not reservable online. He said if they were empty, we could take one. We took our 5th wheel and chose site #2 which ended up being spacious and as dry as could be expected for the rain we received. There was ample room for our 33' 5th wheel and Ford F350 crew cab, long bed pick-up truck. We called the campground host and found out the site was available for the nights we needed. The park itself is very nice with room between sites. We also found friends of ours staying in the park (a nice surprise). One morning, we hiked the Swamp Forest Trail which is beautiful, but pretty wet in spots. We did not use the bathhouse facilities because we're pretty well self-contained. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Our first camping trip for 2019. We love this SP. Sites are quite large and level. Or too many trees to worry about but enough shade. Very relaxing! We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a DE State Park located in the northern part of the state which is a good day's drive from New England. Open all year. We have camped here often over the years before kids, with kids and now as seniors. Every site in the campground has full hookups and the sites are located in two loops with a bathhouse that has showers & laundry inbetween. The park is located on Lums Pond but there is no swimming anymore. Hiking, bike trail, fishing and across the pond there is a boat launch, disc golf, horseshoes, tennis playground, volleyball, basket ball courts, baseball fields. The 8 mile bike trail is for walkers, bikers and horses. There is a host located here all year long. We camped here the last weekend in March and it was full (reservations needed and must reserve 2 nights for weekends). The host said during the week in the spring and fall they are not full but every weekend through Oct 31 is booked. Good stay! We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

The entrance booth was unmanned for the season so self registration is required if you don't have reservations online. Self registration must be cash only, no checks or credit cards. Some sites are unlevel front to back making leveling the trailer difficult. The sites are large and well spaced out. Some sites have the sewer connection near the road so a long hose may be required. Many trails for hiking and biking. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Been 14 years since we have last been here and much has changed as the last time we were here there were just a few electric only sites and now most sites appear to have full hookups. Our hookups were in good working order and our site was level. Our back in site was about 55' long and noticed most sites were similar in size. Getting in with the larger Rv's could be a problem. Geography at the campground was lightly wooded and mostly level. Camp roads and sites are paved. Plenty of trails to walk or bike. Good signal on our Verizon cell. Bathrooms/showers were clean & updated. We would return if back in the area. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Don't use the address for this park campground that's on their website - it's for the administrative offices. When I called to get information about the park, I was told to use this address for my GPS: 3355 Red Lion Road, Bear, DE. However, this wasn't exactly right either, but it got me close (across the street and down the road a bit). These are nice, large, level sites. Very nice campground. Some sites are shaded. When I was there, there were two campground hosts. I arrived late, almost dark, so I picked up an envelope at the front, picked a site, and brought the envelope back to the entrance, with money in the envelope, and put it into the slot. Neither the envelope nor the website, though, told me what the fee was. I asked the campground host, and he was nice about me bothering him after dark. He said the full-service rate right now is $36 ($32 plus a $4 registration fee), and that it was posted on the board at the entrance. It was; I had just missed it when I drove through. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

This should be the standard for all state parks. Paved roads and sites, full hookups, miles of hiking trails, fishing, off leash dog area, non motorized boat rentals, etc. Our site was perfectly level and very spacious (it appears most sites are very spacious). We were only able to stay 3 nights here but would have stayed longer if our plans allowed. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park was redone a couple of years ago. All asphalt streets and sites with full hookups on all sites. The sewer hookup is more towards the front of the site which may require extensive sewer hose. Plentiful space between sites. We were able to get satellite tv although the site was pleasantly treed. The aprons of the sites could be wider or have additional stone as it tends to be a spot for water accumulation. The camp hosts were extremely helpful and nice and worked with us to find the best site for our big rig after rain accumulation was at our front door at our first site. Car just fit in front of rig in the site. No WiFi but cell service is fine. We were pleasantly surprised how nice and big rig friendly (45') this state park is. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

I wish all state parks were like this. Wide paved roads and asphault pads, spacious & level sites, very clean, lots to do, very quiet. It can be muddy after a heavy rain. All road and pads are paved and in good condition. Utilities all worked and the water is very good tasting. They have add a new bath house since we were last here and all facilities are family style - very nice. More parks should go to this style. They were clean and large plenty of room for the family. Check-in was simple with pre-registration the car pass was attached to our reserved site post. Park has trails with some having fine stone to walk or bike on. They sell ice cream and firewood at the office. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed 4 nights while our house was packed up to move. Large sites, with plenty of room in between them. All asphalt pads, although not all level. all manageable with minimal blocks. Full hookups but no WiFi or cable. Our site was shaded and unable to find a location where our satellite would acquire. Minimal camp store, but that's expected for a state park. Three Camp hosts, and all nice. Very clean. New bathhouse and clean, but we didn't use it. All sites 40' long, but just enough to park in front for one vehicle. plenty of space in the overflow field.
