On the east side of lake istokpoga ..the camp is actually in LORIDA....10 cabins to rent..40 RV sites .. some are full time. Beautiful cypress trees, amazing sunsets.. well maintained facility with a boat ramp, fuel and some basic provisions at the office. The site managers are amazing. - Frankie dee
May 2012 - $30.00
Small park 5 1/2 miles off of Hwy 27 in Lake Placid. The park is rustic & offers Florida at it's finest. Located on Lake Istakpoga (fifth largest lake in all of FL - 25,000 acres large), this is a fisherman's paradise. There are about 20 covered boat slips & a ramp that are at your disposal & they sell bait as well. management was beyond friendly & dog's of all shapes and sizes are welcomed here (keep em out of the gator infested water). Their monthly rental's ran $390 - annual monthly were only $245 & you hook up your own power with Glades Electric . I would stay there again. - wendylynn
Mar 2018 - $50.00
Park starting to clear out this time of year. But still charging in SEASON prices. Nice sized site and all grounds well kept. Staff all very pleasant. Drive to the casino and no shuttle. Pool looked fine, but the weather was cool and did not use it. Clear view for satellite. If you need it, its best to bring it with you. Some food available at the store or its off to the casino. Would stay again but not at in season prices. - Libby
Feb 2016 - $35.00
Lovely park. Recently renovated top to bottom. Has fuel, 'trading post' and Subway on site. Other than the campground amenities (pool, shuffleboard, day spa) the only entertainment around is the casino, 3 miles north. Okeechobee is +\- 30 miles. - Jules Simon
Jan 2016 - $22.00
This is a relatively new park run by the Seminole Indian Tribe. Park seems to be almost brand new. Each concrete pad had full service 30/50 amp, water, with good pressure, and sewer. WIFI only at the club house and no cable. Over the air channels were good, we did get about 20.
Located about three miles from the Seminole Tribe Casino. Nearest town was Okeechobee, Florida about 30 miles. - Dixster
Dec 2016 - $40.00
Sunshine is a retirement village with a small handful of transient lots. I was informed I had to arrive before it got dark (I assume they don't want people setting up in the dark and disturbing the residents???) It is a beautiful and very well maintained by the ground staff and residents. The residents welcomed me with open arms and checked in on me often. (I'm a woman traveling alone). The pool area was great, clean and plenty of lounge space. I appreciated the the use of the floats you are able to borrow. The staff were friendly and helpful, even loaning me the cable I needed. The free wifi is limited to the club house, so I didn't really use it but T-mobile and Verizon worked well. - Samantha Day
Oct 2016 - $44.00
Went to this location because its listed in the Passport America book. Called on Sunday to make reservation but no answer. Left name/number for call back. Received no call back on Monday either. Drove 3 hours on Monday to get there and find they don't take Passport anymore. Office staff explained there policy's. Would have stayed anyway, but told they are already on winter rates. In October? I don't think so. Looked to be mostly permanent RVs with some transient spaces. The road in from hwy was paved. Narrow roads and had some trouble getting turned around. We moved on. - Libby
Oct 2012 - $16.00
This is the perfect park. Location is quiet, right next to an orange grove. Extremely well kept property with excellent staff. Lots to do, rec room, library with internet, very clean laundry with lots of machines, great pool. They even have a seat in the pool for handicap access. The streets within the park are blacktop, great for bike riding. Level sites. Can't say enough great things about the park. The manager and two of the hosts are great people. - getawaygirl
May 2014 - $15.00
They gave us the Passport America rate. Not fancy but the people are friendly. Over-55 park with a nice clean laundry room. Not many amenities but very peaceful. We have been there twice and will go back again. - esta34950
Apr 2018 - $40.00
Outdated park, Management has no clue what they are doing, rude residents, roads are to small for a big RV. Park floods. No privacy at all. Just Rude senior citizens, not friendly at all. Town shuts down at 10 pm. - Unkown1
Mar 2018 - $35.00
Small older campground but clean. Has some seasonal residents but very nice. Everyone waves hello. On a lake so bring your kayaks. Very quiet and peaceful. Not big enough to keep tow attached at site if you have a 40 ft rig but you can still keep your tow at your site. - janandjack1
Apr 2016 - $26.00
This is Not a campground. This is a very old, run-down mobile home park that somehow got designated as an RV park. It is filled with old, dirty trailers or old RV's permanently parked. Individuals appear to be low income and are allowed to run businesses out of their personal trailers and the roads are filled with potholes. People are rude and crass and management is even worse. The only good thing about this park is the lakefront, but all these lots are reserved for year-round persons only and there is no access for transient people. Rules are used and enforced at-will. If you want to be treated with respect, have a level lot and meet nice, decent people, do not stay here. This is an ill-maintained park with no designated lot lines, dogs running off leash, and no additional parking for extra vehicles. DO NOT STAY HERE! - unknown123
May 2016 - $40.00
Nice Park....more upscale park than just down the road. Easy access to grocery store and Dollar General. Nice lakefront too. Many permanent homes for snowbirds too. Clean and would recommend. - unknown123
Feb 2013 - $38.00
We stayed here for 2 weeks while between homes. It is very clean and neat. We saw no evidence of activity for kids, although they may be welcome. There are many park models and winter residents in RV's. The sites available for rent are bank owned, and DO NOT have cable TV. Reception on antenna and Mi-fi are strong, with all networks available. There are two circles for pets. Since we will still have business locally, we will stay here again. - Yeager
Apr 2010 - $38.00
This is a great site and is really convenient to everything. The common facilities are very well kept, including the pool. The entire place is kept clean and the sites that are occupied by permanent residents are all very nice. A new owner has taken over and they are in the process of selling lots and it seems that for what they are giving, the prices are cheap. Very nice place to camp in Central Florida. They have docks for small boats. - laringrp
Dec 2017 - $25.00
Very clean and friendly park. This is mainly a mobile home/permanent rv park. No pull thru's. All sites are concrete and flat but a little tight. No picnic tables. Lots of amenities. Big pond w/fountain, catch and release but the majority of owners here are fisherman out on Lake Okeechobee. Biggest drawback here is remoteness----23 miles to nearest major groceries and restaurants. Stayed in 45' MH for 2 months. - Jimbo1973
Nov 2016 - $38.00
Very nice park. Mostly seasonal & park models. The lots are well spaced and easy to back in. Services were easy to access.
Beautiful, well kept grounds. Very nice pool area. Everyone was very friendly.
Only downside was our site backed onto Hwy 27 which is very busy & noisy with sugar cane truck traffic.
Would stay again but request a site away from the road. - Our-Wandering-Casa
Jan 2016 - $42.00
We spent the month of January 2016 in North Lakes Estates in our travel trailer. It is located in the countryside at Lakeport on Lake Okeechobee, but you never see the lake because it is surrounded by levies all the way around. The park is not really set up for travelers and have only a few spots that are not occupied by park models with an abundance of add-ons like enclosed patios, Florida rooms, sheds and carports. The spot we had was hard to back into, and had our trailer been just a little longer, we would never have fit in there. We had both power and water outages during our stay, and the WiFi and internet only works occasionally. Roads are narrow but paved, and all sites have at least a level concrete pad - some are totally covered in concrete. It seems like everybody has at least one golf cart, and there are many boats parked at the units. There are activities in the club house, but apart from that, there is nothing to do here if you are not a fisherman. - Jensvilhelm
Mar 2019 - $90.00
Park as previously noted is an ownership resort. But it is a resort. Some sites are fully improved, some are grass parking with paver patios. We enjoyed it here, and found the people extremely friendly, owners and renters. - Field Trip
Feb 2018 - $91.00
This is an ownership type resort, but with rental sites available. Mostly fifth wheels and class A motorhomes. Some sites are fully improved by their owners, others just a small paved patio area and otherwise unimproved ... our rental was fully paved and faced the shuffleboard area. Has to be one of the cleanest/well maintained park we have visited. Lots of dog waste receptacles around the grounds and everyone uses them. Outside the park there is not a lot to do and dining options are pretty limited, but we used Okeechobee as a home base to explore both west and east coasts with our towed vehicle. Port Saint Lucie, and even WPB, are only about an hour drive away ... we even ventured there for foodie dinners a few times. - NCrog
Dec 2017 - $40.00
This is a great owner's resort but they let people come in for a preview stay. They have every amenity you could think of plus dinner dances every Saturday night and live bands by the saltwater pool twice a week. Five days a week they have a bar and grill at the pool with great and reasonably-priced food. They have pickle ball champions that live here and give lessons. They have a library, a gym, a card/activity/craft room, a billiards room, an activities director, petanque, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, horse shoes, a hot tub, fire pits, beautiful landscaping, and a great community! - Yggm
