Overall very clean, nice and peaceful park. Since the hurricane a lot of trails are closed and there are a lot of trees gone so not much shade. Enjoyed our stay and will come back. Staff very nice.

30amp only and water hookup. No sewer. Bathhouses are close by. Stayed in site 1 with our truck and 37’ trailer.

Verizon cell and data was good. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed for 3 nights in a 38Ft motorhome with tow car. Our site was #28. We had no problems leveling. Is was a sand back-in site. It was soft sand, but didn't pose a problem. The roads into the Campground were gravel/dirt/sand. No real problem driving on them but the dust coated our tow car. There was no shade at our site. Satellite reception was great. We took the tour of the Torreya House, $3.00 per person, it was great. The Campground and the whole area is still recovering from hurricane Michael. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

I am completely confused at the glowing reviews of this park, especially from those who camped here in a motorhome. We travel in a 43ft Class A with a tow and based on the reviews we felt this was a place we could enjoy. Mistake. The road up is sand, the sites are sand, soft sand, there is no shade, no open area, no view, and frankly basically impossible for us to even back into our site. Please understand we love Florida Parks, we love state parks which is why we wanted to give this a try. Based on what we saw, we actually just drove away and ate the $56 bucks. Final comments, big rigs beware. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

We had site #6 and were blowing the 30 amp breaker so they moved us to site 30. That site was vast. Keep in mind that the name of the camp is actually Weeping Ridge. Watch for the sign! Site 30 is their emergency site and can not be booked. Pleanty of room for toad and RV. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The park is very pretty, on a ridge above the Apalachicola River. There are good trails which are well-marked and well-maintained. There is a nice view from the Gregory house and the tour is very good. This park is fairly far from the interstate. Coming from the west there are no services between the interstate and the park. Sites are sandy and fairly level. Sites 1 - 16 are fairly close together, but there are bushes between sites which provide visual separation. Some of these sites are short. Sites 17 - 30 are wider, around 50' wide. Our site (28) was easy to get into with our 38 foot 5th wheel. The dump is fairly far from the sites and would be hard to hand pull a portable dump. No Wi-Fi or TV reception. The water connection is double sided and located at every-other site, so even numbered sites are OK, but odd sites have to stretch their hoses across the site. Be careful of the time zone change. The park is close to the line and sometimes cell phones pick up central time, even though the park is in Eastern Time. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Remote campground located on a ridge in the State Park. W/e back-in sites heavily treed overlooking Apalachicola river basin. Lots of so bring plenty of Deet. Showers are tiled and very clean with plenty of hot water. It rained heavily over night but there were no puddles the next morning. Hiking the many trails was the main activity. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

Not for everyone but I love this park -- a rustic camping experience with great rangers. Not many sites, all shady backing up to ravines, and amazing NC like hiking trails in woods and along the Apalachicola River swamp. Everyone should visit the Gregory House which is a restored historic house onsite. Registration done in office on site. Can get supplies in Blountstown about 20 minutes away. Registration office carries pretty good selection of typical camping stuff and there is a laundry on site. Lots of warnings about copperhead rattlesnakes in the area. Have a few spaces that can hold really large RVs. Mine is 27 feet with a tow vehicle and can fit in pretty much any of the spots on the left hand side of the park. Website explains about size of sites. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

This park is a hidden gem. The area surrounding the Appalachicola River is known as "Little Appalachia" due to the improbable terrain found here. Hiking is the main attraction here and the trails are beautiful and well kept. We stayed here during the week and it was delightfully quiet. It is quite remote, so make sure you are well provisioned before you come. The sites are level and we found ours beautifully raked and ready for us when we arrived. The showers were very nice. They had handicap showers in a separate building. We came on a Monday, and were one of only a hand full of campers. As the weekend came, the "reserved" signs began to fill up the sites and on Thursday we saw several early birds coming for the weekend. We left early on Friday, so our time in this campground was quiet, peaceful and absolutely wonderful. The dump station on the way out was very convenient as was the layout of the park. We found the staff very helpful when engaged and yet they kept their distance when not called upon. Seriously, if you want to spend some time in the woods, in the quiet in a place of incredible natural beauty, this is where you want to be. As there is nothing close by, folks only come here for just such a thing, so we found several kindred spirits here. Highly recommend spending at least 3 days here so you have time to hike the trails. The only bad thing about this place is that you won't want to leave it. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Neat small, shaded park. Several miles of challenging hiking trails (elevation changes, rocks, roots). Sights are level packed sand. Some are close together, some have ample space and foliage for privacy. One yurt, one cabin. Staff is very friendly. Facilities are clean. Historic plantation house, Gregory House, is interesting tour and view of Apalachicola River. In the middle of nowhere. Nice. Well maintained. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Far from anywhere. Make sure you have ample fuel and provisions before going there. Visit the Gregory House and hike the trails. Two challenging 5-6 mile trails, several connector trails. All trails are uphill/downhill, but great hiking. Interesting history here. Enjoy the views and quiet. Sites on one side of the loop are close, other side have ample space between for privacy.

Beautiful, very quiet setting close to the Apalachicola River. Our site had plenty of shade, so much that it was almost dark in the back of our coach. Be sure to visit the Gregory House and take the short tour, it is very informative. Not much nearby, Bristol is about 15 miles away and has limited stores. Park staff very helpful and friendly. Several over the air digital TV signals available and cell phone coverage is good. No Wi-Fi in the park but our MiFi card worked fine here.

We would return in the future just for the quiet time. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

In a very remote area, but roads were okay. You can't see river from the campground you must take a park road several miles to a day use area. We were here during spring break and campground was very busy and noisy. Sites are not as big as posted and are not level. The restriction on number of people per site is not enforced which meant the number of restrooms was not adequate. Staff was helpful, but overwhelmed. Not a place I would come back to. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park has a very different feel than any other of the many Florida parks that we have visited. It is only about 15 miles off of Interstate 10 but has a very remote feel. The road to the park is good but very narrow and at times slow. I suggest you use Exit 166 off of Interstate 10. There are numerous well-placed signs leading you to the park. There is about a half mile of dirt road leading to the campground and the drive and sites in the campground are dirt/sand. There were some pretty big potholes and standing water during our visit. There is a gated entrance but the gate was not working during our visit. The sites are fairly well separated with moderate privacy. Our site, number 19, was a strong 50 amp. Our water hookup was some ways away next to another site, so we just used water out of the tank since we were only staying one night. There is a dump station along the entrance road. It was stopped up during our visit and not draining. We had a very strong Verizon phone and data signal with 4G service. We were able to find a hole in the fairly dense vegetation to get satellite, but it is not easy. There is a historic house with tours at 10:00 during the week, so we were not able to participate because of our brief stay. This is not a park that I would recommend for a simple overnight while traveling I-10, it takes too long to get there and it is too difficult. We plan to return at some time and spend a few days there to relax. That is the type of park that it is. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

Friendly and informative staff. A little ways off the I-10 but well sign-posted and well worth it if you like an isolated and beautifully scenic location. The road in the park is sandy and bumpy. Our site was long but many are not. Reservations are critical as this is a small popular park. You're on your own for Internet service. Beautiful walking in the park along the river. We loved it here and would definitely revisit. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful views, clean (although small) heated restrooms, dirt roads and pads. Did I mention the beautiful views? Hiking trails we were unable to take advantage of due to our limited stay. Small park with only 30 sites, definitely a "come back again" park! We camped at Torreya State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Campground is located about 12 miles off of I-10 Exit 166. Directions to the park are well marked once off of I-10. The road is hilly and curvy, and a bit narrow until you reach the Liberty County line, where the roads become a bit wider. Some speed limits to the park are really low for such a rural area (35 MPH) because of an uptick in driveways. At the entrance to Torreya, there is a night gate. If you have reservations and are arriving late, be sure to call ahead to get the keypad number. The campground is reached on a packed sand and gravel roadway. Each site is sandy, fairly level, and firm. Sites 1-16 are pretty close with little privacy vegetation separating the sites. Fire rings are located behind each site. Each site has 30A max. Sites 17-30 are a bit larger, further separated, and have more vegetation. These sites have 50A service. Water pressure and electricity operated perfectly. Bathrooms were spotless, and kept that way. Staff friendly. Quiet and dark at night. Coyotes howling. A CCC barracks building serves as a sitting area and office, with a book exchange. Washer and dryer available for $1 per load. Yurt and camping cabin looked clean, each had a nice deck overlooking the ravines. DTV service was outstanding, with all major networks represented two and three times. CSpire phone service was 3 bar voice, consistent 3G service. Cell phones operate confused as to what time it is. The park is in the Eastern Time Zone, while across the river is Central Time Zone. If you have minutes vs. free minute times, you need to be careful. Rangers said Copperheads are a problem in warmer months, and warnings were posted. Torreya is primarily engaged in being the premier hiking park of Florida, especially given the spectacular topography (about a 200 ft range from ridge tops to the Apalachicola River banks). It is also a botanical and birdwatching wonderland, rich in biodiversity. More akin to the Appalachian Mountains than Florida. The Gregory House, an antebellum plantation house, is worth the $3 tour fee. Small but nice gift shop. Group picnic facilities are vast, looked new. Children's playground located there, excellent for family reunions and large picnics. We would camp here again. We camped at Torreya State Park in a Travel Trailer.
