RUSTIC ALERT! We love Devil's Den, but be aware it is sparse. If you are a scuba diver, this is a great place for training, practice, and the dive in the underground lake is pretty cool. During low water levels you may need to walk over a few rocks, but most days you swim in from the platform and it is a nice spring dive. There is a full service dive shop on site for rentals and fills. The campground is large, quiet, shaded, and relaxing. We go there with friends and have cookouts, campfires, and enjoy the weekend. The signs say NO PETS, but in the campground it is no problem and everyone there has a pet. If you want excitement and entertainment, this might be too quiet for you. If you want to relax and camp in the woods (even in a large rig), Devil's Den is for you. - Scuba_Diver
Oct 2010 - $22.00
Second time we have been here. Not much has changed. Fewer picnic tables, and now they charge to use the pool. It is really for the divers to train in, not for the campers to use as a swimming pool. Be aware that some of the back flow preventors on the faucets do not work correctly, and will cause an issue. Check the faucet before you set up in a spot. The place is very quiet, it was a great spot for our group of 9. - MODguy
Mar 2009 - $22.00
Park is mainly for diving. They have a different sections for tents and RV's. The sites are not real level, but not bad. Roads are dirt. Lots of grass. A few picnic tables, lots of shade. No fire rings (bring or make your own). No playground. Very quiet. You will be asked to sign a waver, whether or not you are diving. Camp ground looks very under used. Our group of 5 had the place to ourselves. - mod guy
Jan 2017 - $20.00
very good. nice sites, quite a few are reservable, we drove in early and got an open one. have a part of the lake for swimming in warm water and at the same time swim with the manatees. they were there every day, rented a kayak, paddled out and let them swim to you! good gator watching, fishing and a lot of different birding. - yosemitesam
Jun 2016 - $30.00
We have camped here many times before. We came across a private owner on craigslist renting their lot cheaper than the official resort was. I was a little worried that the park had gone down hill because of some negative reviews on here but we had no problems. There was $5 fee for our car and golf cart at the gate but we were told up front so no problem. They have added a large dog park since we were here last. We normally spend one full day at the springs, but once you have done that the state parks have nothing else to offer. Love staying here because we have constant access to the lake and pools. We dropped our boat in the lake on Sunday and didn't put it back on the trailer until we left on Friday. Stayed anchored on the beach and were able to jump in and go whenever we wanted. The bathrooms are not fancy but they were very clean. We used them every night instead of bothering with our tiny camper shower. At first I was disappointed the site was not closer to the water, but our site in the back of the park was very shady and quiet and we didn't have to worry about through-traffic while the kids were out playing. Plus the lot was long enough that we were able to leave the truck hooked up to our 30 ft trailer and still park the bikes and golf cart in the back. We plan to book same site next year. - FloridaRVfamily
Jan 2016 - $37.00
This older park is considered a private, condominium community, that is open to the public. It has many owners and long-term renters. A $5 cash fee for non-owners is charged at the gate. We rented a site through the Elite Resort Management company by phone. They do have an office just outside the park. The sales person was very helpful and made sure we knew there would be no cable television due to the cable company digital conversion process. We use a Verizon MiFi and had okay service for the cell phone and internet. Internet was available in the Lodge. Everyone we met was very friendly. The family pool was closed, but the other pool and hot tub were being used quite a bit. A book and puzzle exchange is located in the Lodge. Our pull-through site (#3) was long and wide enough so the Jeep could be parked next to the coach. We did have to position the car and the picnic table to stop golf carts and people from walking through the site. Have to admit, it didn't stop all the walkers! Electricity, water, and sewer were all in good condition. - DiplomatTraveler
Jan 2019 - $18.00
Very clean and a good park. We will return. Wish the showers had warmer water. - JandPaul
Dec 2018 - $22.00
I usually wait a bit after leaving a camp ground to write a review, but since the neighbors @ 3 am are still going strong with their party, now seems appropriate. There are a lot of staff at this camp grounds, they all have golf carts and are very actively driving around, yet not one enforces dogs running freely or the 6 foot leash rule. There are large dogs loose every where, some are on 20 foot long ropes, some run freely, and the barking is crazy annoying. I did report this as 2 decided to visit my camp site and pee on some of our items and forced us inside. That was 8 days ago, still running freely. One night a large lab was running after a squirrel and ended up under our RV pulling loose the sewer, elec and making for a rude surprise wake up call. Part of the issue is there is no ranger or other authority person to enforce the rules, the park is run by a private company. Quiet hour will also only work if enforced. I have to give the neighbors a solid "10" for hitting the pickup bed every time when throwing their empty beer cans into it from their fire pit. Pros: nice biking around the area, hiking and had many sightings of gators, manatees, turtles and birds. Sites are level and full hook ups, big trees and squirrels every where. Price for senior NP is nice. Cons: wifi is close to non existing, cell service is good about 25 minutes from the camp ground (ATT), bath houses are not heated so the walls and floors are wet from humidity, no laundry room, dogs can be off leases, quiet hours not enforced. lots of road noise. I won't be back. - hiker13
May 2018 - $29.00
We stayed a week in our 5th wheel travel trailer. We found the park the be clean, well maintained, and conveniently located to all of the kayaking runs we intended to visit. As others have noted, the Salt Springs are wonderfully refreshing and enjoyable. We stayed in site 56, next to the restrooms. Good WiFi reception, and while not blazing fast, it was adequate for getting mail and checking web sites. We also had decent Verizon LTE speeds. - Red Wolf
Mar 2015 - $14.00
Just a warning to others....... Their website is VERY misleading. We needed a place to stay for a month in Central Florida. We called from the previous campground that we'd been staying at to see if they had availability. The lady on the phone said "we only have one left". Since the campground that was our first choice was already full we went ahead and booked it. She wanted our credit card over the phone. I know better than paying for a site before seen but she said it was the last one! So I gave her the credit card number which she said would be charged that day. (Absolutely no refunds)
This could be a very long story but I will cut to the chase and comment on discrepancies with their website.
Concrete pads - I don't see any. We are parked on grass that sinks when it rains.
Restaurant- There is no restaurant on site much less that delivers. There is a mini mart at the entrance. Don't expect to get your milk and bread there, but if it's beer and soda you are after you are in luck!
Beach/Swimming footsteps from your site - There is no beach on the property. There is no water that you can swim in on property unless you don't mind swimming with alligators! There is a beach that you can see from the property but you need a vehicle to get there. It is part of the National Forest system so you have to pay fees to get in.
Laundry - Yes, there is a laundry "onsite" but it sits facing State Highway 40 and has a big sign with the hours written on it (the hours on the sign are incorrect) so it is open to the public. There is only COLD water wash available.
Boats and jet ski rental (As described on the Passport America site under 'highlights') - None.
Don't bother sending an email inquiry as their website suggests. I never did get a response. I also would caution you to NOT get anything of importance sent to you here via mail. We never did get the FedEx "overnight" envelope that was sent to us. Everybody that we met that was staying here was very nice. - RunAroundSue
May 2015 - $40.00
Park is pretty and quite, way off the road. Lots of horses, ponies, a lama, and wild birds. Site was level, however, grass was not cut and was ankle high. Lots of snowbirds winter, but had left before our arrival. There is a pool which looked nice but we didn't use. The park is over priced and they charge $5 per guest even if the guest just visit during the evening for a few hours and do use the facilities. - Jackhal
Jan 2014 - $35.00
We have stayed here more than once at the per month rate. Our first consideration was its proximity to the many attractions in Florida both on the Atlantic and Gulf sides coupled with its competitive rates. We were looking for a shaded, friendly and safe place to stay while we bicycled, kayaked (the famous monkeys in Silver Springs just down the road). But perhaps our favorite aspect is how nice the owners are and how dedicated to providing activities for their guests. - PassingThru
Feb 2009 - $1.00
The Lake in the Forest is a beautiful park. It is off of the road in a well shaded area surrounded with big trees. If you like country settings and not a concrete city, you will like this park. The owner goes out of the way to please everyone. There are activities for the kids and adults. All of the guests in the park were very friendly and did things together. Shopping and places to eat are close. When we left we felt as if we were leaving family. This was our first year there but we have already booked next year. The owner's mother is a wonderful person too. If you visit the park, be sure to say hi to the owners and the owner's parents. - Tom And Sharon
Oct 2014 - $25.00
The only way to get this rate is weekly; daily, it is $30. This is a mobile home park as well as an RV campground. There are many permanent residents and, although many of the mobile homes are nice and well maintained, quite a few of them are in bad shape. The roads are terrible, sand with giant potholes. They advertise cable TV but the only way to get it is to pay a full month ($85) plus a $40 installation charge. There was no Wi-Fi and no cell service with our phone which works almost everywhere. The laundry was a screened-in shack with no doors and no air conditioning. The only restroom/shower we could find was not in very good shape and, again, had no air conditioning. We understood that it was under new management and there seemed to be a lot of workers cleaning up but there is a lot more that needs to be done, There are many other campgrounds in this area that look much better for the same money. We would never stay here again. - SandyA
Feb 2012 - $10.00
We totally enjoyed our stay at Lake Bryant. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. We were made to feel at home here. It had a great family atmosphere, and the calendar was filled with fun activities for all ages. We wish that we could stay longer. - Trisha3
Feb 2010 - $28.00
Lake Bryant is a trailer park that and falls far short of the ratings in RV reference books and the info and photos posted on the site. RV sites are scattered between badly maintained trailer homes. Street are packed sand, holes and mud when it rains and dust from the numerous golf carts and 4 wheelers used by permanent residents. The beach is there but the swimming area has grass growing in most of it. When making reservations the management will charge you the cost of your full stay (week or month) rather than a portion, and the is NO REFUND REGARDLESS. Laundry facilities are small and in a small screened in shed. There is no way we would return or recommend this to others. - Bill J
