Our RV club camped here for a week end rally. The park is very well maintained and clean. The restrooms are older but immaculate with lots of hot water in the shower, and extra hooks to hang your clothes and a good exhaust fan. Our club used the community room kitchen and eating area. It was too warm the first night, but that was corrected promptly and we never had that problem again. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Beach is 2 miles to left out the gate. Free parking before 9:00 AM, so we enjoyed an early beach walk. Beach access signs are posted, numbered and indicate if there is parking. Downtown parking is metered at $3 an hour. Walmart and Publix are 2.5 miles to right out the gate. Site 4 probably had the most noise as it is across from the open gate. The rest of the park is walled.

We stayed eight nights, at Christmas, in a great spot along the water, facing the mangrove islands. Each day we watched fish jumping, herons and pelicans, and some days dolphins played near us. The sites are small, people are friendly, and pool was warm and clean. There is a dedicated group of regulars who come every year and know each other. We really enjoyed the small Park size and location--easy drive to Sanibel and Captiva, and shopping is nearby. But traffic on San Carlos Blvd is horrible heading to Ft Myers Beach, and is the main complaint for the location. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a very tightly spaced but nice location to see Ft Myers beach and the surrounding attractions. Some sites are right on the water for launching boats or kayaks. The park appears to have many long term residents as many structures looked like they had been there for a while. Utilities worked as expected and site was level. The park smelled strongly of sewer gas much of the time, so much so that at times I went into the rv instead of sitting outside. Restrooms and showers were very old but clean. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

As others have said, it's a pretty tight campground. I guess water front property comes at a premium and they try to get in as many as possible. Having said that, it's not as tight as some other places we've stayed. We were in a travel trailer so we just unhooked at the office and they moved us to our site using their tractor. Backing in problem solved. Short walk to the beach and downtown area. That's a good thing because the traffic is terrible going to the beach plus parking at the beach is expensive and hard to find. The walk is not hard and you can see a lot from the top of the bridge. Lots of eats and drinks close by. I would absolutely stay here again if I was in the area. February is peak season in this part of Florida and we had to change sites mid stay but again, the tractor did all the work. Everybody at the campground was friendly and helpful. Space for dogs is kind of limited but we managed. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Try to get a waterfront site. They have docks available for a nominal additional charge. Plan on walking to the beach during peak and on weekends. Driving is nearly impossible. WalMart just a mile or so away.

This is a good place to stay to visit Ft. Myers and Sanibel. The park is very clean, and we had a site on the water. However, I have never before stayed anywhere that was this tight. Interior roads are very narrow with campers cars parked on both sides right up to and sometime sticking out into the road. I had a back in site just long enough for a 38' motorhome with space in front for my toad. I don't think I would have been able to back into the space except that the two spaces across from mine were empty. It still took a lot of jockeying back and forth to get into the site. That be said, it's a great park, and I would stay there again. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed on their new premium sites, which were paved and drove up to a sea wall ten feet in front of our coach. Manatees and dolphins swam within ten feet of the sea wall in the morning. A boat launch exists and some sites offer boat slips. The waterway feeds into the Gulf of Mexico. Site was manicured very nicely a with foxtail palms and other beautiful foliage. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Not a bad little campground although big rigs have to use the higher priced sites but these have nice water views. Friendly and helpful staff. Sites are varied gravel or grass, all are back-in. Large, concrete patios with picnic tables but no open fires permitted. Asphalt roads. FHU/30/50 but all utilities are at rear of sites, saltwater pool, hot spa, laundry, dumpsters and recycle bins. No propane sales, minimal CG store. Gas/diesel gets more expensive the closer you get to Ft. Myers. We saw dolphins out our back window. They also have a sizable marina but we only saw 1, small fishing boat. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Mini-golf at the Smuggler's Cove, a really nice albeit pricey facility. Dinner at the Gulfshore Grill (Ft. Myers Beach) was very good but also, a tad on the pricey side.

Nice park with most sites on water. Spaces are tight and close, but fine if using as a base for exploring area. Had a problem with 50 amp power, told office and problem was resolved in 5minutes. Actually, maintenance man was at site before I could get back from office.. We would stay here again. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Wonderful week there! Staff was very accommodating when we wanted to change sites-we saw one empty we liked better. View of bay was gorgeous. We kayaked right off our site. Beautiful and clean boat docks. Park was very nice, spaces are small but able to accommodate big rigs. Pool nice. Very close to bridge to Ft Myers Beach- we walked over to avoid the traffic. Definitely would go back. We were advised that this was a subpar park by someone who was there 3 years ago. We learned that the kids took it over and upgraded a lot and continue to make improvements. We loved it. Very pet friendly. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stay for us while traveling to a state park destination and we're not used to staying in a wall-to-wall RV resort. It was March and a full park so we had very close neighbors. The sites are very narrow and small. Our site, as most are, was right on the bay and quite lovely to sit outside with a cool March bay breeze. Nice facilities and boat docks. Conveniently located and filled with folks who stay for months at a time - year after year. Our preference is more of a natural setting such as a state park with a fire ring and grill, but for the RVers who like to have all the comfort facilities right there for long stays, this seems like a good place. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a decent campground. Friendly people and staff. Nice ocean breeze. Grass sites with cement area with picnic table. Pool was nice but small. Hot tub as well. We were in site 60. Nice view but very tight to get into. Was very difficult. My tire of my truck was literally on the cement border of the ocean. I mentioned it to the front office and they informed me that they would have never put on that site because of my vehicle and rig. A limit to late though. Would stay here again if on a different site and looking at the map. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Yes, this is a smallish place with sites close together and not exactly great for a dog. If you want to be on the water, bring your boat and going out into the gulf then this is your place. Enjoy the mangroves and local waterfront restaurants. Lovely area to explore. Great local dive type restaurant across the street. Really nice docks if you bring your boat. You see dolphins every day, lovely birds everywhere, and we saw a manatee at our waterfront site. I would only get a waterfront site. For the extra few bucks it is well worth it and, yes, the other sites are a little painful. Great TV reception and my Verizon cell coverage was perfect. Easy access to the beach down the road across the bridge. All the local conveniences. We want to come back in their off season. The best time there - no one to bother you and the close sites don't matter because it is very slow in May, June, September and October. We will do a month rental this September or October while we are finishing up our summer travel. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

To me, this parked seemed very much geared for the extended stay guest and not for the guest staying a few nights. The sites are incredibly close together (at check-in the desk clerk advised us to call him if to many cars were parked around the sites preventing us from backing into our site), and my neighbors awning was within 2 feet of my slide. Pets are allowed but per the rules, quoting printed Resort Rules, "No dog waste on or off the campsite." The Wi-Fi did work at our site and the utilities were directly next to the motorhome and worked as they should. We camped at San Carlos RV Park & Island Resort in a Motorhome.
