Like most Encore parks, this is an RV resort, NOT a campground. Many parks in Florida are designed for the multitude of snowbirds that come down from the cold, frigid north. They don't have very many spaces for transient customers, but that's really to be expected in this part of the country in the winter! We needed a night to fill in our stay at a nearby state park because we couldn't plan far enough in advance. This worked, but just barely. Because of our size, it was a challenge to get into our space. Fortunately for us the site was wide, because the roads in the park are narrow. Not much room to back up a 45' fifth wheel, but we managed. Restrooms were clean, and the park was very tidy. We wouldn't choose to come here again, but because we had an activity planned and needed to stay in the area we were glad it was available for the one day we needed it. - Denise and Glenn

I made reservations for this campground through my Thousand Trails membership, which I shall not renew because this is the kind of campground they feature: closely packed spaces, difficult to navigate, poor site maintenance, but lots of "resort" activities. Nonetheless, snow-birds and retirees seem to love it. They flock down by the thousands to nest in such places for the month or the season or the year. Not me! Ain't my type of place! I visited Florida as a kind of "bucket list" item. Now it's over, and I won't go back. - Jim Fulton

If you're looking for a campground, you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for a convenient location to see the Tampa sites, it's great. The park is clean, restrooms older but well kept. Sites are small and interior roads are very narrow. The employees are very nice and there's usually an activity almost every day. About 75% of the sites are annuals, but they're generally show models and the majority are well kept. - dseipel2

Worn out campground. Sites are tight. No cable, and wifi is an additional charge. Probably wouldn't stay there again. - Roadkingfl
Apr 2018 - $54.00
Yes the trees were beautiful, but sites were very tight and close to your neighbor. Also, about 90% of the campers were either full timers or extended stay. The hookups were a little confusing and we even saw sewer drains without a led. The indoor pool looked ok, but the outside pool wasn't close and was shared with the 200 homes behind this park. There is no playground for the kids. There wasn't a picnic table, no satellite or cable and we couldn't pick up any local tv stations - Georgiagirl10
Jan 2018 - $1.00
The people were nice and the spots were a little hard to get into. The Laundry was nice and reasonable. The bathhouse was ok. They could use an update and to be cleaned. There was an indoor heated pool and hot tub. We took the kids there and they loved it. The residents seemed to be pretty close knit which was nice. There was no park or dog run. There is no playground.
There are 2 parks side by side. One is for the permanent residents. This park was really cool because it had a ton of Old Mans Beard moss hanging from the tress and there were even ferns growing from the tree bark. It was very shady. Not big sites but the park seemed roomy enough. - TravelinFam

Jan 2013 - $21.00
Very tight and small spaces. We needed help from an employee to back into spot. When opening our door, it was very close to the neighbor. It seems to be a trailer park, with spots available in between the regulars. If you have a long RV, you will block the driveway for others to get through. We were only here for 2 nights. - Brenrett
Jan 2010 - $28.00
The entrance to the park is lovely. Once past that, however, its appearance is seedy. Sites are extremely close together, muddy, and people don't seem to be picking up after their dogs. The park could be nice but, sadly, there appears to be little pride in keeping the park up. - geotraveler

Jul 2018 - $19.00
We won a coupon at a trade show in Tampa so first night cost $9.95. They must have strengthened the wifi as we had excellent strong service the two days we visited. Very nice heated pool. Long asphalt pads and FHU's. Very quiet park. Only negative is that our TMobile phone service had no coverage We were able receive it by going on to their wifi however. - Part timers
Apr 2017 - $19.00
It was great, laid back, friendly people. Small store for necessities. Close to gas stations & shopping. - 883piglet
Jun 2016 - $18.00
This is a great little quiet RV park. We have stayed here a couple of times before our current stay here in June. However, this time after checking in and being there for the day we had an issue with their electric and ended up having to replace our electronic thermosat and control unit for our A/C unit and did not get to use our 5th wheel there. The other neighbor had no issue (noticed they had a surge protector), so I won't stay here again with out a surge protector. Just a heads up... - Mmketeer

Sep 2018 - $14.00
Small campground, well maintained throughout, friendly staff. Bathhouse is dated but clean. Nice day area adjoins the campground. Loop road is gravel, a little rough (keeps the speed down). No tree overhang. Sites are all back-in, grass/gravel and fairly level. Most are at least partly shady and fairly level. Has boat ramp. Nice nature walk along the Withlacoochee river goes to Cypress Glen campground. In the area are 23 miles of hiking trails and a trailhead to the Withlacoochee Trail nearby. While close to I-75, the road noise is quite dampened by the trees. Easily tolerable. Not a problem even at night. Rangers patrol the park. When I arrived my fire ring was ready to light and ample firewood. WOW! Thanks hosts. - GDoug
Dec 2017 - $15.00
This is a nice, remote campground located on the Withlacoochee River where it widens into a large lake. The campground is covered by huge live oaks with grassy areas. The Withlacoochee bike trail is outside the entrance so miles of paved rail to trail biking. Only negative is that it's close to I-75 and traffic noise, but not too bad. - Blue Highways Traveler
Apr 2017 - $15.00
Just stayed overnight. Extremely tight driving /avoiding tree branches and trees, unable to avoid a few low hanging tree branches that had not been trimmed. Sites are spacious back ins, but the maneuvering can be quite challenging. There was a boat ramp available. Payment was via a drop envelope at the front after finding a spot. - Road Less Schooled

Most sites are not level and some will require major leveling on your part, be prepared. Showers & restrooms un heated and outdated. No sewers, no dump station at this campground, dump station up the road at the Silver Lake campground. Very quiet, lots of great trails to hike including the Withlacoochee State Trail/Bikeway and a portion of the FT ( Florida Trail). Kayak/canoeing is very good. - Cdr Bob

Stayed 6 days in a pull thru. Paved roads, wide concrete site and beautifully kept scenic park. Wi-fi worked, showers and restrooms clean. A little off of the beaten track but very nice. Site was a touch more out of level that hoped for. All services worked well. - Kbob

Nice campground,Small sites, not friendliest people staying there, but overall nice park.Women taking us to site made us park with wheels off the ground after leveling. - john55
Mar 2018 - $51.00
This is a top shelf RV park where the vast majority are snow birds staying most of the winter. We stayed in a pull thru site which was an extra wide concrete pad and long enough for both our fifth wheel and truck. Shower house was cleaned daily with great detail. A friendly staff, an immaculate pool, and several daily activities to choose from make this resort park a "ten" in every category. My only complaint is the cancellation and early departure policies are very strict and inflexible. - Ohio Camping Family

Aug 2018 - $1.00
We spent a night here visiting friends who live at Traveler's Rest ... who picked up the cost of our site for the night. Our site was large, level and I wish I'd brought my golf clubs as they have what appears to be a nice 9-hole course. Staff very friendly and helpful. Plan to stay here in the future. - dandd
Jan 2018 - $38.00
The only reason to go here is if you are a snowbird that likes a friendly community and plenty of activities to choose from. If you are visiting (and don't own) you will be placed "on the hill", which is a big grassy field. Yes, it is unlevel and the utilities are a little strange but that did not bother us. The focus is on activities since it is so far from any real attractions or even stores. We enjoyed the bike club, very nice people. We thought the entertainment was mediocre. There was a very talented pianist but they have to keep the volume down for all the hearing aids in the audience. The burgers at the Snack Shack are delicious, as are some of the soups and chowders. The rest of it is just okay, salads with standard lettuce, tomato, etc. with sliced lunchmeat and cheese on top. Nothing fancy. There is a nice produce market 3 times a week, great bakery twice a week and the food truck was good. Two things bothered me: the water is rusty so all my white towels came out dingy. I had to go to a laundromat in town, 35 minutes away for my new white sheets. Also, the dog park would be better if people understood dog park etiquette. One gate at a time, don't let your dogs crowd the gate when a new dog is coming, use the small dog section. I never saw anyone use the small dog side, probably because there is not a bench in there. Instead, they set aside prime hours in the big dog section for...well, honestly I think it is so people can practice agility with their small dogs. - janci
Nov 2017 - $38.00
After staying a couple of nights in Tallahassee at a county park which had great views and a horrible bathroom, we spent two nights here, which was a marked contrast. Well-maintained park with full-time, mostly seasonal over-55 residents and a variety of RVs (many Airstreams), park models and mobile homes, plus a large grassy RV area off the golf course. Spots are roomy and generally flat (it had been raining, and the area was a bit soft when we were there). No pads, tables or fire rings, although this is generally not what you'd call a fire ring crowd, so seems fine. They do now have some sites with hookups that are not shared with another rig, so that is becoming less of an issue. We were at the very back of the parking area, with a view of a creek and golf course. We enjoyed seeing the Sandhill cranes on the course. Otherwise, not much in the way of views, and pretty much no trees or shade, other than at the far side of the park where some trees separate it from the golf course. Amazing restrooms, however, that have been updated recently. Tons of amenities if you want to use them, from a dog park to hot tub and pool, tennis, golf, etc. They even have free entertainment some evenings. Obviously, this is a real draw for the folks who live there, but you can partake as well. As you might expect in a retirement community, they have a lot of rules, especially regarding where you can walk with pets. The folks in the office, and the guy who takes you to your spot are all super nice and helpful. The park seems isolated, but it's just a couple of miles to I-75, and a quick drive to Tampa, Dade City, Brooksville and other cities. We enjoyed our stay and really appreciated the first-timers discount. Certainly worth a visit and a place to consider retiring to if you're in the market! - RKR001
