Upfront, this review is from the perspective of 3/4 time RVers who mostly stay at State Park type campgrounds. We came to the Fort Walton Beach area to visit family and this campground was the only one close enough that was available to fit our 39' fifth wheel. For us, desired amenities are laundry facilities in a campground. We do not use pools etc. Checked in with no issues then went unescorted to site 65, which was a premium back in costing $96 per night across from the water view sites. Back in was very tight. We consider ourselves adequate backers and had to have the neighbor across the street move his truck. The sites were narrow and really close together but the landscaping makes you feel like you have some privacy. Very nice laundry facility. All sites are FHUs. The back rows butt up next to US98 and you do get road noise. There was a small no-leash dog area but no real trails in the park, or even nearby, to walk your dog. - MK_Willi
Mar 2019 - $60.00
This is a fantastic property with nearby underrated beaches and restaurants. The landscaping is immaculate, and the kids enjoyed having a heated pool in March. The other campers, the majority of whom were from up north, were all extremely friendly and invited us to participate in some of the social activities put on by the resort. Nearby traffic is noisy at night, but you eventually get used to it. - SportDawgs
Sep 2018 - $74.00
If you are going to stay here i would recommend a water site. We didn't and therefore the view was non-existent. Navarre prides itself on being a quiet place and it is. I didn't feel there was much to do around the area (see below) unless you drove to Destin. The entrance is poorly marked and we all drove past it. Small resort and you are on a busy road. Landscaping needed worked on. Very tiny beach area but a great pool. The sites are very large and the patio was quite roomy. - Let'sGo!
Mar 2019 - $75.00
The reviews here are accurate so I will just add a few observations. We stayed in a beachfront site, and the deck at the back adds a lot of space. Our site (66) had a very tall tiki hut in front that was a little distracting so I would recommend a different site. The Premium Beach sites have no one on your patio side, which is nice, but we were always on our deck so these sites would have no advantage for us. This is a quiet stretch of the Panhandle, if you want action you will have to go to Destin or Pensacola Beach. They have some activities here, you have to watch the whiteboard at the entrance because they don't post them all on their website. They had free coffee and donuts, an ice cream social and a potluck breakfast. We missed the breakfast because we found out about it too late. You are allowed to wash your rig, they will bring you an extra long hose so you can use well water instead of the water supply at your site. We enjoyed Dewey Destin's very much. The food was great, and they are on a private beach so they allowed our dogs to play out there. - janci
Dec 2018 - $60.00
This is a private campground, near the Navarre Beach Bridge. It is centrally located to a lot of things to do within a 20-minute drive, such as: minutes to one of the best beaches in Florida (Navarre Beach); A variety of restaurants, bars, etc.; Gulf Breeze Zoo; the Butterfly House (Spring through Fall); a Lighthouse; museums; etc. A lot to do and enjoy! The campground itself is nice. A little tighter than I prefer, but not uncomfortably so. The sites are paved and fairly level. They have patios with a picnic table on each. They are all Full-Hook-Up with cable included. There are even some sites backing up to the small onsite beach. The park has a heated pool, as well as occasional activities at the clubhouse. They also sell propane, if you need it. Although located on US-98, the traffic noise is not bothersome. If you stay near the water, you rarely hear any of it. The staff is wonderful, very nice, and extremely helpful. If you let them know of any problem with your site or in the park, it is usually taken care of within minutes. Really. Most of the guests here are friendly and like to talk. This has become our normal home-base, when we visit the area a few times a year. This is one of the best parks in the whole area! - ben31rv
Nov 2018 - $50.00
We stayed five nights in a 40 foot fifth wheel. Ours was a 60 foot site that was quite close to other campers. The back-in sites appear to be a bit shorter and all are quite close. The site did have an adjacent parking pad for tow vehicle or toad. They have several beachside lots that backup to the beach and the protected waterway inside of the barrier islands. These waterfront sites have a small private patio overlooking the beach. The park is right off the main drag but the road noise was not a problem here in the middle of the park. The front-office staff were pleasant and accommodate a date change and offered a few other sites if we wanted to switch. They seem to have a variety of activities for the snow birds several times each week. There are no sidewalks along the road. There is one restaurant in walking distance and a walk-in clinic right across the street. You can walk the beach but not very far before you hit obstacles. They have canoe and kayak rentals or bring your own. They have a really nice fishing pier on which they say you do not need a license to fish. - Moe and Flo are on the go
Apr 2019 - $74.00
This is a very, very narrow and tight campground. The sites are sand with concrete strips to park on, and a small concrete pad. We did not use any of the facilities, other than walking on the pier onto the bay. The staff was very nice and had a package waiting for us. We appreciated that as many campgrounds will not accept packages for guests. The roads are very narrow and the entrance is bordered on both sides by palm trees that I was concerned I would not get though. They try to make it a festive place by painting bright colors on buildings, and that kind of works, a bit... The sites are so narrow that one feels very cramped. There is no place to connect or disconnect a toad except in the middle of the road, which is only 8' wide. There are a combination of tents, trailers, motorhomes, and rental cabins in the park. It is about 4 miles from Navarre beach which is a beautiful white sand beach. It is also close to a Walmart and other shopping options. We would have given this park a bit better rating except for the cost. We stayed a week and the price was $64 per night for Sun - Thu, and $98 per night for Fri - Sat. The park is barely worth $64 per night, and $98 per night is way too much. - Ccsmith51
Jan 2019 - $50.00
Very nice park. There were some sites that looked out over the bay, need to reserve these early. One of the most friendly places we have been. Lots of dogs and chatting neighbors. Roads were a little narrow. Hosts helped get parked in space. All sorts of RV types and good combination of long term and weekend campers. All facilities were clean and neat. Great system set up to receive mail and packages. Overall nice place. - WeGo2See
Dec 2018 - $64.00
We were very disappointed with this campground because of how close and crowded the campers were. The campground is about 100 feet wide with 4 rows of campers across that width. They also have "cabins" along one side of it. We just don't like crowds and this campground had too many people in too small a space for us to enjoy it. The campground itself is right on Hwy 98 and traffic was very busy. There weren't a lot of restaurants to choose from within a reasonable distance. A super WalMart is just down the road from the park. - Bfytw
May 2019 - $70.00
We recently left another campground in the Navarre Beach area to come to this campground which is newly-named the Hideaway. They are undergoing some renovations but we have found the campground to be lovely great views and beach .... more to our liking. Sites have trees . We don't need to have concrete pads, gravel is fine for us The sites are level, Wi-Fi ,cable great. I hope they retain the natural beauty and charm of the campground with the renovation. I am sure they will. Management very accommodating and quite nice. We travel in a 42 ft. toy hauler. - waterkat
Oct 2015 - $13.00
Great little park close to everything. Location on the water is wonderful, took our dog on daily walks on the beautiful beach for miles. Also great for swimming, fishing and all water sports. Management here is very helpful and accommodating. - dewbon1
Nov 2013 - $30.00
Friendly staff, but it's a run down campsite that still needs a lot of attention. Previous reviewers say it's vastly improved. I know the internet and cable are great but the overall look needs work. The entrance is a dangerous U turn off 98 and signs on the front need replacing. The beach front is small but attractive and there is a dock that makes a nice evening view of the gulf. A stopover night, and that's all. - John WD Smith
Jan 2018 - $20.00
We stayed while house hunting. Owner is very friendly and down to earth. Not far from I10. Dirt roads but well maintained. Very clean fresh water ponds with free fishing. No fishing license required. Good power and excellent water. Great value for the money. - Zettma
Apr 2019 - $39.00
We just did an overnighter here and didn't unhook our tow vehicle. There were spots on the site that would obviously be muddy on a rainy day, but the site was basically level. Large pavilion area for picnics/barbecue next to office. Seemed to be quite a few permanent residents, and some of rvs were rundown. Convenient on/off to highway. - Maga04
Jul 2018 - $39.00
Stayed here due to our favorite campground being full for the 4th of July weekend. Reservation made over the phone. No problem there. Campground is very close to I-10 and we got a lot of road noise. Few OTA TV stations. WiFi was good. 30-amp Electric was TERRIBLE! Only 113 volts without any load. 108 when we turned on our air conditioner. Hooked up our auto-former and we managed OK, but could not run the air conditioner and microwave at the same time. Pull thru was OK, but sandy. Sewer hook up was up in the air. Don't understand why campgrounds don't have the sewer drain pipe flush with the ground. Water hookup was way forward of the electric box. Had to add another section of hose to reach or 25 foot hose. I doubt we'll stay here again. - thetravelkids
Mar 2018 - $39.00
Pull thru sites. No hot water in the men's shower. Mud/dirt, no level site and the grass was not cut. No GS discount as advertised. Convenient to I-10, but not worth $$, so will not stay again. - Alaska2018
May 2019 - $50.00
Great! Park was great, the people however were superb. - scoots46
May 2019 - $52.00
Wonderful little park on the water with super friendly staff, nice facilities, and pleasant scenery. We were parked on one of the pull-in, waterfront sites which provided us with a windshield full of beautiful sunrises, and marsh scenes. The sites are more narrow than we normally like, but with the view, we spent more time in front of our coach than along the side under our awning. All the utilities are nicely placed and all worked well. Our site was gravel with a concrete patio and we parked the Jeep behind the coach. The check-in process was pleasant and the office person provided a wealth of information about local attractions, restaurants, and routes around the various toll roads. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. - glenstmary
Apr 2019 - $52.00
Stopped in on our way back to Canada from Florida and were very impressed. Approx 1/2 mile off I10 but traffic noise was not an issue. Relatively easy access off the highway and checkin was easy. Guided to ur site. We had a drive in site facing the bayou/cove and found it a beautiful and relaxing site. Site was crushed rock with a concrete pad and picnic table. Grass in between sites. WiFi was sporadic. Excellent cable. Site facilities worked fine. We very much enjoyed our stay and would have liked to stay longer then our 3 day stay. Close to Pensacola and the beaches. - Darrell M
Apr 2019 - $60.00
Typical nice KOA with all the amenities. Very convenient to I-10 coming in but have to do a u-turn in highway or business to get out back on I-10. Roads are paved. Sites are level gravel/grass and very spacious and especially long. There are a few trees in the pull thru area but had no problems accessing satellite. There is a picnic table on a concrete pad at each site. This KOA does not pick up your trash. Staff was very friendly and take you to your site. - Tom Willing
Apr 2019 - $57.00
This is a typical KOA. The sites are all pull-throughs and are very long and level. Cable and wifi worked well. Our site had a big tree opposite the electric/water hookups that made maneuvering a bit tight. As noted by other reviewers, the park is next to I-10, but we didn't notice a lot of highway noise. As also noted by other reviewers, the 4-lane highway by the entrance has a divider that cuts off a left-hand turn for a return to the interstate. You have to turn right and go to the intersection by a Waffle House, where you can either make a U-turn in the middle of the road (which could be tricky with a long rig), or you can pull behind the Waffle House where there is a truck fueling area with a large enough area to turn around in (which is what we did and what I would recommend). The park was clean and the staff helpful. The price is about what you will find at any KOA. - farmboy25
Feb 2019 - $57.00
We Thought this was expensive Park. The sites are grass and sand the interior roads are paved. It is ok maneuvering around the park. There seems to be mostly seasonal campers. They have a recreation area and a play ground with miniature golf. The staff is friendly and helpful. One issues is exiting to go on I-10 not easy as you can not cross traffic and have to go left and find another entrance or do a u turn. There alternatives are not hard to navigate it just takes time. Not sure we would return. - JDR
Sep 2016 - $20.00
No frills, two years old, concrete pads, level, lawn mowed, driveway is a loop one way, lawn is solid so if you have to pass someone and drive on the grass you won't sink into the lawn. Worked out perfect for us. If you want a pool or playground and you qualify to stay here then go on base, the commercial entrance is right across the street.
This is not a family campground!! You can stay up to 90 days, first come first serve. Pull in, if there's a site grab it and than go sign in. We called the morning of and found out there were two sites. We were at a Walmart in Pensacola, drove an hour, got fuel, etc. got here and two sites were still available. The other one filled up later that evening. This was late September. We're considering staying here again but for longer, maybe in late winter early spring on our way out way back north or north west.
Couldn't get any signals on the antenna so we were glad we had satellite. - Mountain10
Jul 2016 - $20.00
Stayed for 2 months this summer. Be aware there's NO trees so if you travel in the summer, you'll be cooking in the sun. Everything is nice and new, great space for each site compared to other campgrounds, but you still have to get creative with 2 vehicles. The man who runs the place is pretty huffy at times over the simplest questions. They keep the grounds well maintained and we enjoyed our stay here. This was a nice quiet campground, even on July 4th, we were never woken up. Pretty close to beaches, as well as Destin, Navarre, and Pensacola. For this campground, you're staying for the location, not the campground itself. We had a huge problem with black and brown widows EVERYWHERE in the picnic tables. Supposedly people were being warned, but the new people never had a clue. Could be a big problem for those with small children or elderly. We bought poison though and were able to easily kill the Black and Brown widows, and their dozen egg sacs. Everybody we met was always so nice and friendly! I would recommend this campground and plan to return. - C est La Vie Three
Oct 2014 - $20.00
Nice new campground. Level and flat concrete pads at each site. Friendly person on the phone and at the office. Grass was cut while we were there, trash was emptied 3 times (all in one week.) Campground layout is questionable. One big loop with 1-way traffic pattern. Sites have plenty of space between them. 1 way road is narrow. Only place to unhook is in the 1 way road. Dump station (if you need it, is on the wrong side. No parking at the office. None. Laundry is way to small. Only 2 rusted washers, 1 of which is not working. Very little signage on the property including into the campground. Another example of contracts getting a campground built but not having a very good idea of how campers operate. Sad for a new campground that could be a good one if it were built and run by people who knew what they were doing and/or knew how to get things done. We pulled in to a site and got all set up only to find that the 50 amp was not working. Not sign, no hint to that effect. We were there over a week and don't know if it got fixed. The laundry is a complete embarrassment. Old machines -- at least they ought to get them swapped out and working! - rwarner22
May 2019 - $130.00
Very handy park for Pensacola Beach. We had a premium spot right on the beach, which is on the sound side, not the gulf side. Easy walk across the street to the gulf shore beaches. They have opened up a bar on the beach in the campground. It is supposed to close at 10 each night, but until then, if you want to sit outside and enjoy the quiet, you are SOL. Usually 20-30 people there each night. Sometimes, till 10:30. If you enjoy being right where the action is, it would be great. Further back in the park, it is quieter, and the price is better, but the sports are not on the beach. I feel the price paid would be more worth it without the bar.
During the daytime hours, the beach is lovely, with umbrellas and chairs available to all. The beach is open to the public, as I think they all have to be, so on weekends, it can get a bit crowded.
The campground is clean and well kept. Sites are not large, with not a lot of space between sites. They do help park people, which is a plus. The WiFi is not great. We used our Verizon mostly. - Clfac54
Mar 2019 - $82.00
Two things would keep us from staying here again. First, they should restrict the Tiki Bar and beach area to resort guests only. I don't mind little kids cutting through my site, which happens. I do mind adults who have been drinking cutting through my site all day and after dark. No wonder they send a special email to remind you to lock up your valuables, the place is not secure at all. Also did not care for loud, foul language right outside my rig. Also did not care for the trash on the beach, empty beer cans and cigarette butts that stayed there all day. By the end of the week I was tired of listening to someone else's choice of rock music. Second, they reserve the best waterfront sites for motor homes, and trailers are relegated to the crummier sites even though the price is the same for both. I understand they cannot control the construction on the adjacent property but they can control the clutter of tiki huts that block the view of the water. And they could adjust the price accordingly. Site 22 is bad, 23 is worse and 24 they have no business using at all but you cannot avoid them because the office assigns sites, you cannot reserve one. To be fair, we did have fun there, nice people around us and they had a meet-n-greet for resort guests one night. Our dogs liked swimming in the sound. But this really did not offset the negatives so we would not go back. - janci
Mar 2019 - $85.00
Excellent RV park in Pensacola Beach. Park is on the Santa Rosa sound with a nice beach. Across the street is the Gulf and beautiful beaches. Our site was right off the highway so we did experience some noise, however it was not a problem with fans on. Park is busy, sites are filled as soon as they are vacant. Staff is friendly and helpful. There are many restaurants, bars and stores within walking distance. It was our first time here, however friends told us the Tiki Bar on their beach was a little loud and people walked through sites to get to it which was annoying for those paying premium price for a site on the beachfront. It was recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed, we met some very nice people, some who come yearly for month(s). Concrete pads and blacktop roads, each sites has a patio and pavers which extended it a little bit. Picnic table at each site. Would have given it a 10 if they fixed patio pavers and other minor maintenance items. We will come back and stay longer since we didn't experience even a small part of what's in the area. - Pamela Wick
