When we first arrived we were a late arrival. We had asked for a pull through site as we were 64' with tow. The first site was D13, unfortunately because of weather the park had gotten flooded out and that site was under water. We were able to move over 1 site to D12, there was plenty of room, slide space was not an issue. Very friendly maintenance and office staff. Cable and wifi both worked well. Originally we were staying 6 days, but because we liked the resort we stayed another 6 days. Pool was great. Very dog friendly park, as we have dogs (3 of them), the rules stated only 2 dogs. Only complaint is the communication between the reservation people and the actual park. We had notified the reservation people of the 3 dogs, but it was never relayed to the actual park about the dogs. They were fine with it, just said to clean up after them and keep them on a leash. The dog park was a good size and kept clean. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Poor site, no electricity or Wifi, run down old park models, narrow roads with major concrete damage, confederate flags-- We should have read more reviews before picking this RV park. There is a large number of permanent run-down sites with obviously no standards for upkeep. Our site had recently been dug up for replacement of wiring/cable and had not been leveled off. It had a 4' wide hole, piles of dirt, wiring scrap on it, and a water faucet bent almost to ground. We asked if we could change to a much better site beside us, and were told it was rented. First night we found out when our electricity went out, that, yes, that site had been rented but the RVer left because he was fed up with the power problems that had been occurring for several weeks. As I sit writing this review, our power has been out for 4-5 hours. We absolutely need power to run my husband's breathing machine. The internet is also out. Roads are narrow and in places are missing four foot wide areas of concrete. The new owner, Sun, did great work in Sarasota with Sun 'n Fun, but has a long way to go to bring this campground into the 21st century. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Visit little town of Homosassa a mile up the road. Wonderful little pottery shop and glass garage with excellent finds. Don't miss the Homosassa Wildlife Park nearby, amazing animals, including manatees.

We have stayed here about 4 times. It is under new management, Sun Resorts. They are in the process of upgrading electrical boxes. The manager told me of the coming improvements....but they are charging "Resort" rates now. No Passport America honored during tourist season, no surprise there. But every time previously during the season we paid PA rates. There are many "tired" units here. They do look like they have put in some concrete pads for "6 month guests"....but only if you sign up for 2 years. The pool area still the same, nice. This is NOT a Resort! The manager stated, it is a Resort. I laughed and said, I am a zebra....but you can plainly see i'm not. I am voting with my wallet and will not return! Folks seem pleasant. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

This large, clean, well-maintained park has a lot of seasonal and permanent residents in park models. Everyone is friendly and courteous. The staff is welcoming and very responsive. Our damaged picnic table was being replaced before I returned from reporting it at the office. Our site was wide enough for our awning and room to walk around. We backed up to the managers house, and the low area to the rear of our site flooded with water (we had occasional rain bands from Hurricane Harvey), but never impacted our rig. The laundry is huge, and immaculate. It is also a public laundry for the area, but there were plenty of machines to spare. Unlike most places we camp, this campground collects recycling. The campground is very convenient to old Homosassa Springs, where we went out on a scalloping charter, and the State Park with Florida native species and a hippo (you have to visit to get the story). There is a post office just down the road. This part of Homosassa is quiet, and feels like "old" Florida with old trees draped in moss. A few miles away is the typical bustling Florida town with strip malls, huge grocery stores, and any other kind of store you might need. Crystal River, known for manatee tours and pretty in its own right, is just up the road. There are no beaches along this part of the coast, but there is a nice public park/beach in the fresh water of Crystal River. Swimming in the part of the Florida coast is in glorious fresh water springs. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Very disappointed in campground. While staff very nice, that couldn't overcome the negatives. Our site E15 had no picnic table and was so narrow we couldn't put out our awning. Many year rounders with tired looking units. Also near adjacent highway, so a level of noise. Just expected more, hence the big disappointment. If there had been another campground choice, we would have foregone deposit and headed elsewhere. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

We were here for a week at the end of March, the campground was still pretty much full of folks that had spent the winter or lived here full time. This is a nice, quiet park that is mostly occupied by the 55+ crowd which pretty much means that everyone says hello but respects your privacy. The laundry is huge, clean and we'll maintained ($1.75 wash and $.75 - $1.00 dryer). Be sure to take in the wildlife state park that is just off of the main drag. Plenty of shopping nearby for just about anything you need. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for a week in a 40' 5th wheel toyhauler at site A3 across from the water pond/culvert. Name is somewhat misleading as it is down the street from the river but there is no river access here. Our site across from office was probably one of the better ones for a large rig. Pull-thru. Narrow and right next to neighbor but very long (at least 100 feet). Wifi was crappy Tengo internet but could perform basic tasks. I paid to upgrade of $15 for a week of better internet and it didn't work at all, so don't bother. Got good cable tv. Laundry facility is excellent, pricey but very, very nice with lots of washers and dryers and extremely clean. The park itself is very clean. Mostly seasonals but at least 20 (maybe more) overnighter spaces. Nicely paved roads to navigate within park with no obstacles. Lots of activities and good looking pool (didn't use). The best of this park, for me, as the location. Old Homosassa right down the road. About two miles to launch kayaks on Homosassa River. About 25 minutes to Three Sisters Spring and Crystal river. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a large park with a lot of long-timers, but everything was neat and attractive. Close to everything in Homosassa Springs. The sign at the gate says Homosassa Springs, they were formerly Turtle Bay, and our book called them Carefree. This was rather confusing. We had little contact with the office, but they were friendly and helpful. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Homosassa Springs was a great place. We went on a boat to snorkel with the manatees and visited the Homosassa Nature Center which is outstanding. There are lots of little restaurants and bars and we enjoyed an afternoon of music at the Old Mill. The roads in the park were ok, but cars were parked close to the road which made it a little difficult to maneuver.

Mostly full-timers. Our site was nothing fancy, but easy pull-through. Pool was nice. Kid pooped in the pool when we were here. I thought a pool had to close for several days to sanitary reasons, but it was open later that day. (We never went back in). Laundry room was clean, but also open to the public. I never had to wait for a machine. They also had an ice machine which was convenient. Great location. Close the great marina area with casual dining/bars/music. Great if you like fishing, kayaking. Manatee area. Might stay here again because of the location and price. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

1/2 hour to Weeki Wachee (cheesy mermaid show, but fun). Kind of overpriced for what they offer. Boat ride was cancelled because the captain was stuck in traffic and they didn't have a replacement available. Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is worth a visit. Great for fresh seafood and cheap beer prices!

Pulled in and asked for water view. Was given last site on stream which was mud and green slime. Great place for mosquitoes to breed. What looked like a nice little river online was actually a little tiny stream. I think many of the online pics were taken at a nearby state park and not this place. Got settled and decided to check out clubhouse. It was closed due to renovations. Was not told when I arrived. Then informed there were no activities as season hadn't begun yet. Walked around and talked to upset woman as she rented a trailer for a month and was charged $200 pet fee for her little dog. Everyone I talked to seemed unhappy so cancelled the remainder of my stay and moved on to another park. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Arrived after office hours to find an envelope on the door for us. The site was not level, so the next day we were able to move to another site, which was much better. The park has a decent laundry facility, which is also open to the public. We enjoyed bicycle riding on the park's flat roads. The pool is heated and looks very clean, though we did not use it. Bug bites... there was some sort of tiny bugs that would bite us and leave whelps. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

The park was OK but not a destination. We felt there were too many fulltimers there. There are some quiet spots away from the clubhouse and pool that seem to be the center of the park but then you are getting a little close to the main road. It is rural and quiet for the most part. It is close to the Homossassa River. Clubhouse has a restaurant. We were told there were nearby hiking trails. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Motorhome.

Rate is Passport America. Very disappointed here. We arrived and were taken to site L08. Barely fit there. "Caution" tape across the back and side, they were trenching for new utilities. Had to park in alley next to site. Clearly the worst site they had, I guess because we were PA. Many 'nice' empty sites. While most sites were narrow, ours was ridiculous. Our slide was 2" from the power box, and the next site Water and sewer was a foot under our awning. I guess that would have been nice for a neighbor if it was raining when they arrived. I don't think we will stay here again. We camped at Homosassa River RV Resort (formerly Turtle Creek) in a Travel Trailer.

Entrance looks great. Some RV's here are unsightly and not maintained giving CG a bad look. Staff is friendly. Lots of birds and turtles in river. WiFi is Tengo and very expensive ($5.95/day). Staff does NOT control barking dogs during day, and this is a real turnoff. Park has 30 amp. It is located close to state park, grocery stores and other services. Very quiet and restful at night. Some activities most days for guests. I would come again but only if WiFi is improved or included in price. We used Passport America.
