Big Park! This park is very big and offers a lot. Ocean on one side and lake on the other. Several biking\hiking trails. Gated which is a plus. Even though the park is big the campground is tight. Mostly 1 lane roads. Our site was plenty big enough for us and was very private. Lots of kids running around but no issues at all. There were hosts at almost every loop but never once approached us or stopped by. Honestly, I have no idea why they are there, they didn't seem to enforce any rules either. That is my only minor issue. Wonderful park, good hook-ups although the sewer is strange. Decent OTA tv. Also close to the PGA tournament which made it convenient. We would certainly stay here again. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Get to this park while it is day light. There are a lot of trees that hang over the road. Our neighbor hit one while coming is and did some nice damage to his front cap.

The bathrooms at this park are "serviceable". They are not always clean and a lot of the time things are broken. But we love this park. The reasons: 1. Sites - they are great. If you go more than once you will make note of the sites you like best. 2. Beach - is great! Access is easy. Advice on booking so you don't loose as much money if you can't make your reservation (this came from a park employee) - you can pay just the minimum deposit when you reserve online and pay the rest when you get to the park. *This is important, if like me you thought you had to pay all of it and suddenly you can't make it. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is our third visit to this wonderful park. Great access to the beach, great hiking trails and great mountain bike trails. My type of place. We are here the last week in Feb and the weather is in the low 70's. Go two miles inland and it's 80. It took me about 20 minutes to land our 5th wheel in our site. Very close quarters and limited room to maneuver. I only had to put an 1.5" block on one side to level out. The septic connection is a horizontal connect (first for us) but it makes you use the screw-on attachment device that comes with your hoses (sure way for no spills). Good power, good water pressure and good OTA TV reception. Our Verizon hot spot strong and our T-Mobile cell strong. For on-line reservations, you have to create an account with the Jacksonville Parks (easy to do). This park is very busy and fills up fast. We made reservation 6 weeks in advance. Advice..Get a site much longer than your rig, you will be glad for extra room to maneuver. We will definitely come back here again. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a real diamond in the rough for us!! Planned to stay 2 nights and ended up staying one more! Very nice open sites, and the people there were very helpful when we arrived. There were lots of trails to walk with/without dogs and well as bike (which we didn't have time for) and it was only about a 5 minute walk to the Atlantic Ocean beach, which was beaUUUtiful!!! We will definitely be staying here again any time we are going through the Jacksonville area...hopefully for longer stay! Of note, if you are visiting soon, know that because of the weather, the tics are bad this year so be sure you and your pets are protected...we didn't get any, but always good to be aware and prepared!! We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite campgrounds, and we make it a point to stop each year as we enter Florida from the north. The campsites are spacious and clean. It was clear that the hosts had raked the areas around the utility post and fire pit. Most sites have a very private feel, as though you are surrounded by Florida jungle. It's just a short walk to the beach or a fresh water lake. Many guests use the park for off-road biking. Beautiful. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Site 269 looks like a pull-through, but it's not. We pulled in nose first so that we'd have privacy in our sitting area, but you could back in if you prefer. We parked the car on the other end of the "pull-through-looking" site, with the fire pit between RV and car.

Overall Rating:

The park location and beaches are wonderful - and kudos to the city of Jax for providing for all citizens such a wonderful facility to enjoy, but much needs to be done to improve the overall camping experience. We camped here beginning Nov 17, a Saturday, and the park was over-flowing with unattended children and groups of young students using the park for partying and binge substance abuse. After 9 or 10 pm we were puzzled that no law enforcement presence was visible. Well past midnight no one seemed to be patrolling the park, and there was plenty of loud, drunk and disorderly conduct to observe. The next morning was even worse, with (as noted by a previous reviewer) disgustingly trashed toilet facilities (we saw feces and vomit on bathroom floors) that would encourage anyone to use the woods rather than the park restrooms. Smokers in the bathrooms seem common here as well. We are veteran campers and cannot understand such negligence on the part of park administration or fellow campers. The camp sites are also bizarrely arranged - large class C motor homes mingle next to tent campers. Great location and beach access – but the campground needs more aggressive monitoring and bathroom facilities need badly upgrading. Overall, a disappointing stay. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Water and electric good. Site mostly hard "sand" in amongst a LOT of Florida beach vegetation. Oaks, Spanish spear, et al. Roads paved but narrow - "you can do it" (if that fellow in a classic 40' Continental Class-A can do it). Beach is a 5- min. walk - or bike ride. Great place to see how things likely were 100 years ago on the Florida coast. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Hanna Park is a pearl in a raw oyster. It's wonderful but you have to dig it out yourself.

I stay there often for its proximity to Mayo. Others because of the beautiful beach, tropical forest, and good fishing. The park is lightly occupied during the week, locals come for the weekends. Holiday weekends pack the park.

The online reservation system is greatly improved and is usable now. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Large site with lots of shade and full hook-up. A 2 minute bike ride to a very long and nice beach. Small store with some things like firewood and bike rental. Did not go anywhere but the beach. There was an air station just inside the park for airing up your bikes. There are also some very nice bike trails if you have a mountain bike. Very clean campground. This campground is awesome! It is a little tight when talking bout getting big rigs in and out of there but you can. I would not try to navigate this place at night though a lot of mature oaks. Easy access to the beach very close to the campground and the park always looks clean. I've been here a lot and the only bad thing about the park is the staff, not management, they have always been great; it's the useless people who "just work" at the counter and open the gate for you to enter...no smiles, no thank you, no have a nice day...Just annoyed faces. Please don't let that stop you from enjoying this place. This campground is truly one of the best parks I've been to. I still keep coming back and just shrug off the rude staff as "I guess good help is hard to find around here" We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed 11 days. The park is hard to rate. Its not a place i would choose because the sites are close and unlevel. However given its location next to the ocean I am rating it higher than I might otherwise. It was a longer drive to St Augustine then I planned but doable. It's relatevely quiet during the week. Our spot was decent and our 35' with tow and dolly fit on the spot. The utilities were unusual (sewer) but worked well. There are two gates you must enter and exit. The campstore is okay. Our site had a lot of vegetation making it private. Some sites would have been a disappointment but ours was good. The staff is very friendly. We found a publix about 5 miles away and Walmart about 8 miles. We would stay again because of the location and privacy on the beach, but the road conditions leave a lot to be desired. They're narrow, twisting, treed, and there's missing pavement on the sides of the roads. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

We love this park for a couple of reasons: 1. great sites 2. the beaches. This is our second stay at the park. We stayed 2 weeks. The bathrooms are dirty and not all things work. The park seems slow to recover from the hurricanes. It is a great place to stay with dogs because of all the places to walk and they are allowed on leash on the beach. This time we made a list of sites that we liked for when we return. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are a lot of great seafood places in the area. Go to Safe Harbour Market & Restaurant BUT do it at a non standard meal time and NOT on a weekend. Also, the entrance to the military base is VERY busy early in the morning. Avoid leaving the park during that time if possible.

Hanna Park is a beautiful city park located northeast of Jacksonville on the Atlantic ocean. The interior roads are narrow and winding and can be a challenge for big rigs. But we were able to negotiate our 45'MH just fine by taking it slow. The map provided by the park codes each site by the size RV it can handle. This isn't always accurate. Some of the 40' max sites could handle our coach. Recommend you tour park before deciding on site. The park has many live oaks which provide wonderful shade and many sites have foliage in between for privacy. The park is well-maintained and camp hosts are available and helpful. We did not use the bathrooms or showers so cannot comment. Our site (#171) is a back-in with a view of the lake. This is a very popular park and was very busy on weekends. But during the week, it was quiet with few campers. Note: The park has recycling bins for plastic, cans and paper only - no glass. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.

Clean well kept park. Roads in camping area narrow and tight for large RV's. Have to watch trees when negotiating interior roads. Most sites level and a little narrow. No cable. Did not use rest room facilities so can not comment on that. Small camp store and front of camp area with limited stock. Bike rental available. Short walk to beach. Several bike and hiking paths. Staff cleans each site as people leave and ask if everything works OK shortly after you arrive . Would stay here again. We camped at Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park in a Motorhome.
