Well maintained, clean, friendly staff. The park appears to be a former all manufactured home park slowly being converted to all RV. The old concrete pad on my site should be removed and replaced with something newer. All in all, very convenient location to shopping and the beaches. - Art_Sheila
May 2019 - $1.00
During winter months, great activities going on. Pretty quiet now though. We stay here a couple times a year, love this area. Personnel, office ladies and annuals area always nice, friendly and helpful. We've been here in October, December, January and May. Usually stay two or three weeks each time. Pools are fabulous, just right temp, gorgeous views, plenty of pool lounges, tables and the hot tub always up and running. - Linda Fuchs
Feb 2019 - $84.00
We came in early in Feb 1st 2019 left Mar 31 2019. Gave no discount for coming in early $84.00 per night I paid $1450 for Feb and $1550 for March the manager wouldn't even give me the average of what Feb 2019 would of been. The propane gas is $5.00 gallon way to expensive and over charged on electric. No WiFi to speak of. I told her I wouldn't be coming back next year didn't seem too care because it seem to be all about making money with out regards to the customer they have. The lots have broken concrete and built for smaller campers 20 years ago. Won't be going back. - Steph-Sharon 2019

This park is a winner! It has a nice pool, beautifully wooded & landscaped campsites, and a wide variety of amenities (including free access to kayaks and canoes along with on site access to a beautiful canal and short distance to the railroad-bed Legacy Bike Trail. - 30 Year RVer
Sep 2018 - $10.00
Stayed here for two nights - back in site on the middle loop. Fast and friendly check-in. In middle loop. Had to bring our 45ft coach around the opposite way to be able to back in our site due to two large trees in front of our site. Luckily, it was raining and beginning of off season. FHU and easy to get around the campground. Easy to get on and off I-75. - RVThatFamily

The park has many things to do at nice facilties. But the sites are subpar. Nothing but dirt, soft sand and weeds. Part of the facility is for park models only. Park models and very long term campers and mixed with available sites. The staff picks up large items of trash, but do not get the little things left at the sites. Some of the activities are: a wonderful swimming pool, 4 tennis courts, miniature golf, putting green, free canoes, Internet in a clubhouse, horseshoes, and others. - Hhtjr

Not impressed. Stayed here in a big rig in April 2018. First, this park is really a trailer park with RV sites. It is quiet with full, easy hook ups. The staff here seems non-existent and the park isn't anything to brag about. The site was grass and sand and small for my 43' rig. It's also a Thousand Trails/Encore park, and really makes me glad I didn't sign up with them because as a full-timer, I've stayed in many of these parks and they ALL are lacking in just basic upkeep and attractiveness. This park is easy to get to from I-75/275 and the full-time residents seem to be a mix of old folks, manual laborers, and the occasional Metallica enthusiast. As a bonus it's also close to Dollar General which seems to be a nightly haunt for the park's residents as every evening I watch them journey to the DG and return with their small bags of treasures. I found the price a bit high for what I got, a staff who didn't seem to know or care that I was there, and a small, barely maintained site. Next time through I will research more thoroughly to find something better. - Beware thyself

We had free nights from our RV Dealer, so we used 3 here for our first trip. Check-in was easy, very, very nice man assisted us. We were assigned to site N-21, a standard site with 50 amp service. All grass (grass a little long) and a picnic table. Seemed OK till we realized that were were surrounded by Park Models and no other Motorhomes. Some full time residents behind us walked through our site and had their dog off leash and didn't pick-up after it. They were partiers. The next day we were allowed to move to the W Section where there were a few motorhomes and TT's that seemed like they had been there for a long time. No real interaction with the campers, they seemd put off by a motorhome that was only going to be there a few nights. The campground was clean, but I would say 90% are Park Models, if this had been high season, the place would have been packed. - TBWard
Feb 2018 - $84.00
Girl at desk on Feb 10 at 1pm was eating her lunch while we were waiting in line for another rep. When she was done eating she took care of us with an attitude like we were a bother to her. The other rep was being nice to the people. This place is gated so you have to enter code to enter. Laundry and restrooms are locked and you need code to enter (I don't know why those are locked when you have to know code to enter past gate at entrance.) You need to buy a card for $3.00 to do laundry. Then you have to pay $3.00 to put money on card to wash or dry clothes (1.50 each). About 85% permanents here. Most are nice. But several were junky. Many, many trees providing shade. Park is next to river. They have a nice picnic area there. No cable TV but got several TV channels over the air. They do a lot of activities here. I liked that this resort was away from city traffic but not too far away. - RonH999
Oct 2016 - $53.00
The Rambler's Rest RV Resort is located about 4-miles south of I-75, at exit 191 (River Road) on I-75. The park entrance will be on the east side of River Road (left turn if coming from I-75). The entrance comes up on you fairly fast. Our GPS took us right to the gate. After turning into the entrance immediately veer to your right into a large parking lot used for registration. The office is located on the other side of the main road across from the registration lot. Rambler's Rest is part of the Encore/Thousand Trails chain. In general, the resort looks good and seems genuinely cared for but some of the seasonal sites look run-down. I didn't see any concrete pads and our site (W-138) was mostly grass over a small patch of old gravel with full hookups. The park does not offer cable TV but we were able to bring in some local over-the-air channels. If you want to use your satellite dish ask for a spot in the "newer" W-section. Most of those sites will have a clear view of the sky for either roof mounted or portable dishes. The trade off will be little shade. And it gets hot in September. The park is pet friendly and the roads are easily navigable even for big rigs like ours. I had to laugh when I tried the WiFi it offered us complimentary 10-minutes of use before asking us to pay. We opted to use our Verizon hotspot instead. River Road can be busy but we heard absolutely no road noise, just the occasional airplane going over. Site spacing is about average, maybe a bit above. But beware if it rains hard as the ground will become saturated fairly easily. Jack pads are a must. This was our first time at Rambler's Rest and as we were visiting family during the day we didn't have an opportunity to check out the amenities at the resort. We may stay here again. - rk911

This is not really an rv park. It is more of a park model community with a few rv spaces to rent. It is incredibly clean and has many amenities, such as a heated pool, shuffleboard, movie night, tennis, coffee & donuts, etc. It is right next to the airport and you do hear plenty of planes taking off and landing. The people who live here (mostly for the winter) love the place and are very friendly. We were here for a week to visit friends who live nearby and it was ideal. The cable hook-ups are weird but there are plenty of regular channels. - virginianola
Jul 2017 - $43.00
This is a very clean community. I really wouldn't call it an RV park. They have 400 spaces, with 40 of them given to RV's as rentals. The rest are mobile homes. It's very quiet here, and very clean. The site is all concrete, and has a picnic table. The laundry was clean and cheap ($1.25 to wash and $.75 to dry) - but no change machine. No wifi at sites. Large pool. Very convenient location to Sarasota attractions. Because the price is good and the location is minutes away from Sarasota, I would definitely stay here again if in the area. - jillhodges
Jan 2016 - $53.00
A bit pricey, but very nice. This is a gated community, with access by card. Almost all are permanent mobile homes, with only a few spots for rv's. Very nice office staff and residences. The only noise was the planes taking off and landing at the very nearby airport. If I didn't know better, I would have thought they were landing on our RV. The spots are super narrow and so are the streets. All the streets are paved and the spots are cement. Many one way streets. Over all, very nice and we will be back again. - esta34950

WiFi was not good. Water pressure was terrible. Lots of tiny ants outside around trees made their way into our RV. Tight spots which were difficult to maneuver into due to narrow roads. Concrete pad was filthy with grease and foods stains. - Pete and Anna
Oct 2019 - $50.00
Let's start with the PRO's: (1)Level site (2) Excellent (if a little limited) cable TV (3) Decent WI-FI (with the exception of our first day and a half when we had little to none (AP's keep crashing) (4) Electric strong and steady (5) Good clubhouse for our rally group Now the CONS's: (1)Water pressure low and no water on our last morning for almost an hour (2) We were escorted to our site but no help was given backing into our site (road was very narrow with other units and trees nearby) (3) While there are three entry lanes, the one we had always used in the past was closed -- except for one evening when they actually opened it but the man moving the blocking posts was as surly as humanly possible (4) There is a "hitching area" where you are supposed to hook up your towed. We could not use it because somebody had left a huge car-hauler trailer in the middle of it. WTH ?? (5) noise. Quiet hours are supposed to be 10 PM to 8 PM, but there were several sites yelling and screaming until well after 11 PM. ENFORCE THE RULES !One site even had a roaring open fire. Again, enforce the rules. (6) KIDS. Unsupervised LITTLE kids all over the place on bikes, some even well after sundown. (7) This park has lot of one-way streets. The cars and RV's drive accordingly, but the staff often speed on these one-way streets going the wrong way. I actually saw one staff member come down a street the wrong way and then stop his golf cart DIAGONALLY across the street so a car coming the RIGHT way had to stop and wait until he slooowly did what he wanted to do and finally went on his (wrong) way. - w3sjkb3aam

Location was convent to shopping, circus museum, and friends. Park was very close to I-75 on/off ramp. Large park but there were some common areas attached that were very nice to walk along the lake. Friendly staff. - LTC & MS

Mar 2018 - $20.00
We are full timers and stayed from July 2012 to June 2017. We left after they sold and were planning to upgrade the park. New owners found getting permits to build on Florida waterways is very strict and they are, after a year, still in limbo. They started allowing RVers back but only short-term and even though there have been NO improvements they are now charging $745 a month, we were paying $515 last year. We had enjoyed the place even though it was very rural and not kept up. Any storms caused blackouts and the water was always an issue. The best part was being able to park under the beautiful trees and not being on a slab which makes it even hotter inside your RV. The wildlife and fishing is great too. I have never understood how people can park in direct sun; it seriously wrecks and fades the finish on RVs and you will burn out an air conditioner if you run it for any period of time. - karen46
Feb 2017 - $40.00
This is an "old Florida" type campground. Roads are dirt, sites are dirt. The picnic tables were beat up and need to be replaced. There is a nice restraunt on site that has karaoke and music on the weekends. They close at 10 pm and the park gets nice and quiet. There is a boat ramp for the river and all sites slope down that way. They are talking about a lot of improvements in the near future. - esta34950
Feb 2016 - $48.00
Forget the campground! We paid $184 for 3 nights and they had the worst facilities of any of the 7 places we camped while in Florida. The showers look extremely old, not even a shower curtain. We talked to some campers who started camping there 7 years ago and were paying $350/mo. They said the rate next year was going over $1,000/mo and they are looking for a new campground. The roads in the campground are terrible, and the place looks junky! There was a small dock behind our site that was falling in the water. Their photo gallery does not show the campground just the restaurant. - c22jrc

Apr 2017 - $48.00
This is a very clean manicured snow bird park. 90%+ of sites are the small snowbird homes. The lady in the office was very helpful. They have 16 pull thrus; but if you are a longer than a 30ft motor home pulling a towed you will need to unhook. Wife asked we would have to unhook; reservations are made by a central office off site not familiar with RV's. and they said we would not have to unhook. That said it is a nice overnight spot, if you do not mind unhooking. Wi Fi works great today. - rmartin
Feb 2017 - $62.00
Office lady was very concerned when she saw our rig. Even looked to see if there was another spot to tuck us in. Had to keep original spot, but it was fine for our 42 ft rig. Could probably hold 45ft. We did back onto fence line and had road noise from Florida rd. 70. Location is not far from I75. But noise seemed to settle down after about 10 pm. Power pedestal was a bit worn, but good power. Good water pressure too. Early morning sunshine and shade would start about 3 pm. Used air for about 3 hrs as coach tends to warm up. Otherwise had windows open till AC kicked on at 79. Lots of permanent homes with RV spaces intermingled. There were some pull-throughs, but really glad we didn't get one. They were full sun. Large square lake in middle with fishing, birds and a gator in 2016. He was removed and none seen this year. Residents are very friendly. Marked gravel, but it was crushed shells. A bit soft, but rig is heavy. Had to be careful backing in due to large power box across street and street sign. Could have used 2 spotters, but made it without a problem. Was able to unhitch prior to site and will be able to hitch tow prior to leaving after pulling out. If in area again will gladly return. - Linda R
Jan 2017 - $1.00
This is a very nice park that has a combination of park models and RV's (about 2/3 stationary park models). It has a pretty lake in the middle, is very well maintained and is in a great area. I needed a place to work from and this fit the bill. I haven't used the amenities other than their gym which surprisingly is well equipped for its size. It's near 75, lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. Our lot was a back in but had plenty of room for our car, picnic table, barbecue, etc. It's a 55+ park. I did a monthly rate and I believe it was +/- $1,200 a month. Very nice people, super quiet. Highly recommended (and I am kind of picky). - User529

Great staff, friendly people, lots of amenities and participation with RVers and full timers in Mobile park. Very nice pool, hot tub. Pool room, library, horseshoes, pickle ball, patanque, shuffleboard, bingo. RV portion of park was nice but a little tight to navigate and most sites were crowned asphalt with cement patios. Partially shaded by nice big leafy trees. Wood shop. On the river with an additional pavilion for outings and picnics. Tight parking for 45' MH and car, most people have to park side ways and on the grass just to stay on the site. - Jimbo1973
Apr 2016 - $19.00
We stayed here one night while heading south to Fort Myers. The $19 rate was a Tampa RV Show special. The normal nightly winter rate is $38. There is an area in the back of the park where RV's are placed. You have to drive through all the park model areas to get to it. It is tight getting around. You have to be careful!! This appears to be a snowbird park with little coming and going of transient traffic.
We had a narrow pull through on an the end of a row by the maintenance shed.
The park was adequate for our needs for the night. - Howard Jaros
Feb 2016 - $39.00
Majority of park is made up of park models and RV's mixed together. The RV sites in this section are on grass with a separate paved driveway; the patio in this area are of various sizes and locations and may or may not align with your steps and awnings. Getting into these spaces can be challenging for larger rigs and there are some size limitations. There is a pull through area with paved pads and more consistent patios, however more road noise in this section. Nice pool and plenty of activities. We stayed monthly and rate was $1190 jumping to $1250 for 2017. - Ohrver
