Overall Rating:

This has got to be the nicest campground i have ever stayed in. This was our 5th time and never have been disappointed. We were in 400 l00p close to the top this time. The internal buses take you to the top to catch the boat to Magic Kingdom then on to the Monorail. Or to the Outpost to catch a bus to the other parks or Disney Springs. You can save time and rent a golf cart to take you to these locations. There is a very nice dog park that we encountered deer in one night. Deer and Turkey wander around. Preferred site are very big. All the locations are convenient to Comfort stations and laundry mats. Settlement end has excellent restaurant that has a wonderful buffet. Another store, Meadows in the middle. Close to the Campfire, sign along and nightly Disney movie. Pool is very kid friendly now. There is a snack shop at the pool where you can fill refillable mugs. Road to Wilderness Lodge was closed. I've also been in loop 1200 1500 and 800. None of them were bad.

We put a request in for 400 loop because i had never stayed at the top. It is convenient to the store and the boat. I called the week before and had a note put on our reservation. I did on line check in a month in advance. I indicated that i would be there before 3:00 check in because i had to leave the other park at 11:00. We arrived early and they accommodated our request and our site was ready when we got there. Disney is the best at making your trip magical. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Oh Ft wilderness how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. 1. My site was big enough for my 40ft truck conversion and both the RV pad and the patio were concrete. 2. The 50 amp power was clean and worry free. 3. The water pressure was spot on. 5. Golf cart friendly (well more likely required) We LOVE cruising around and site seeing on the golf carts. 4. I know, I skipped 4. The pools are VERY clean and heated and open until 11pm. 6. (no I didn't skip 5) Fireworks. The view from the beach is IMHO better than the park itself. and the crowds are smaller. 7. The other campers are friendly and easy going. (and we have camped here at least a dozen times). 8. (is this guy not done yet?) The stores are well stocked and not (too) overpriced (it is on Disney property after all). 9. Disney transportation. We love to take a boat to the contemporary and ride the Monorail around and people watch. And (finally) number 10. There are many campgrounds around Orlando that are nearly as much money as Ft wilderness. But only Disney gives you that "Disney charm". We leave smiling after every trip. Consistently great is a standard every campground should strive for. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Over the last 20+ years we have come to love this campground and come back every year. We stayed one week in a 43' motorhome in loop 1700 Full Hookup (pet loop) with our daughter & Gdaughters. Check-in was easy... we preregistered online. Main roads are big rig friendly. Roads inside loop are a little tight for big rigs but doable. When making reservations they will try to give you a loop and site preference but no guarantees. They have always accommodated us. All sites have running water, electricity, wifi, cable TV hookups, charcoal grills and picnic tables. There are wild turkeys, rabbits, ducks, geese, deer, and armadillos roaming the grounds and the horse stables at the Settlement. Our site, 15' x 66', had partial shade and was across from the comfort station. Air conditioned comfort stations are found throughout the resort. They have restrooms, private showers, laundry facilities, an ice maker, and phones. The transportation system is free and takes you everywhere within Disney. The Meadow trading Post sells gifts, groceries, snack and beverages. There's also a Settlement Trading at the Marina. The grounds are sprayed regularly for mosquitoes and during our trip was bug free. So much to do or not. We will continue to return. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Fort Wilderness is the best campground in the US. Period. It is expensive but you get plenty. At $150.00 per night it can be overwhelming when the bill comes in. However, we were in a premium site during peak season. Lower rates are available. The campground is closed to other Disney guests so it is not overcrowded. It offers two large pools, several playgrounds, two camp stores, a restaurant, transportation to and from the parks, and the nicest restroom/shower facilities I have ever seen. We have stayed there about a dozen times in everything from a tent to an RV. Most sites are shaded and offer full hookups. We have even stayed there when we were not visiting Disney parks. Our average stay is two weeks. This trip had no problems and lots of quiet time. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

This is the gold-standard of campgrounds (with a gold-standard price to match). The check-in process was efficient and easy. We had completed online check-in, so our paperwork was ready when we arrived. We requested loop 400, but we found we liked our site in loop 500. It wasn't as difficult a walk as we had projected. We walked to the settlement anytime we wanted to go that direction. It was a 13 minute walk from our campsite to the marina for us. We used the internal bus transportation to get to the outpost or the Meadows area (pool, campfire singalong, store, etc.). We also used the bus service for some of our non-MK park days, and it was efficient. We rarely waited more than five minutes for any bus. The pool was nice and clean. Cast members had games going on mid-day with kids that wanted to play. The toddler play area was closed for scheduled maintenance one day we were there. I think they could have chosen a time other than July to do that. We enjoyed the campfire singalong with Cowboy John and Chip and Dale. We ate breakfast at Trails End. It was good. It didn't wow us, but it was good. We enjoyed sitting in the rockers on the porch at Crockett's Tavern. We saw lots of wildlife while there. Turkey, deer, rabbit, birds (especially cardinals). We saw an alligator in the water while we were riding on the boat to the Magic Kingdom. We did not see alligators or snakes at the campground itself, but you should certainly keep your eyes open for them. We had zero trouble with mosquitoes. We liked the boat transportation to the Magic Kingdom and to the Contemporary. Our site was not as private as most, but it was still nice. Our site was very quiet and pleasant. The restrooms were incredibly clean. Laundry facilities were clean. The washing machines are HE machines. Campsites are very clean and well maintained. We found the loop roads to be tight. We scraped our truck with branches while backing into our site. The roads are narrow and difficult to navigate even when vehicles are parked within their own campsite. Often, other vehicles will park in the road. None were in the road when we left, but one group of campers were stranded in the loop road because a truck was parked partially in the road. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Okay, it's Disney so you are going to pay a lot. Keep in mind this is an old campground not built for today's RV's. The inside roads in each section are very narrow and the sites are on the small side for a large RV. Our check in went like a Disney fairy tale gone crazy. Our 1st campsite in section 1100 was too far from the dog park (1/2 mile in 90 degree heat and high humidity) so we asked for something closer. Keep in mind when we made our reservations we said we had dogs. They gave us a site right across the road from the dog park in section 500 which is a dog section. The site was good for a small RV not a 35 ft 5th wheel! We tried but couldn't make the turn due to the narrowness and they have these monster metal fixed to the ground garbage cans that obstruct your turning radius! They gave us another site and right before we started to hook up a Disney utility truck pulls in and says the power is dead to that site and he found us a another site. This whole process took 90mins after driving for almost 7 hrs! Since the RV Park is very large, they do have shuttle buses, that take you to the main entrance to the park so you can get a bus to the theme parks. You can also rent a golf cart for $60.00/day to get around in the RV park. They have 2 pools, one for kids and kids activities and one quiet pool. The quiet pool is at the other end of the park and to get here from the Lagoon end campsites (where you get the ferry to the Magic Kingdom) you have to take 2 buses, the yellow bus to the front then another bus that gets you close to the pool so you can walk there. Lots of walking paths. 2 stores for supplies that you pay double for so bring all you food with you. 1 Restaurant, which we didn't use. A bar which we didn't use, and a take out connected to the restaurant and we got food twice and it was good. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is everything you would expect from a Disney property. Our price was high due to our late reservation and the site was a premium 45 footer; the last site available or our dates. Other sites are not this expensive. I've always wanted to stay here and now I have. The campground has 28 loops, each with about 30 sites. The buses run regularly to a y place in the park. Our site in the 400 loop was walkable to the Settlement and boat to the Magic Kingdom. Most folks further away rented golf carts for $59 per day. Every site is spacious surrounded by trees so you hardly know you have neighbors. Satellite reception may be spotty due to trees but the cable has just about everything. Although this is Disney World, it's surprisingly quiet. Would definitely stay here again, just longer. There is a disconnect area on the way in to the park. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

I'm not 100% sure about the price but I'm close. I booked the campground with park passes and when I asked for a breakdown the day we were leaving they "couldn't" give that to me. As I was told by a friend, "It's Disney, nobody does it better but you pay a premium". The site was nice, level with easy back-in access. We were in the 200 loop so we had great walking access to the bus, the marina, the Hoop-De-Do Review and laundry. My favorite experience was after watching the show at the castle in Magic Kingdom we exited the park, walked 30 yards to the marina, immediately board the water taxi that took us on a lovely 10 minute ride to the marina at The Fort. Best departure from a Disney Park ever! We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We spent four nights at The Fort but only had two days of park-hopper passes. The rest of the time we explored the resorts via the monorail, explored the campground, saw a show on the campground property, took a boat ride and watched the fireworks visible from the campground marina. We had a terrific time.

We were happy to get a site on short notice with a 20% discount; just not a busy week. The site was wide and level on concrete and everything was immaculate. Cable worked very well. Each site is reasonably private. Loop 700 is within walking distance of the marina where you can catch a boat to Magic Kingdom. Easy access and the signage is excellent. It's an expensive stay but the grounds are so well maintained and the staff so helpful, it's hard to complain. Strong 50 amp service which we needed to run our AC on several very hot days. You will enjoy it! We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a "Preferred" site in the 100 loop, closest to the marina and Pioneer Hall. The site was well shaded, level, paved far enough to accommodate our 32' MH and our toad SUV. 20/30/50 amp service. Had a problem with TV cable which was quickly corrected by the on-site technician. The campground is very large, sites are well separated, most are well shaded. Sites are quickly and thoroughly cleaned (swept, blown clean, then hosed clean) as soon as they are vacated to make them ready for the next guest. All in all, a very relaxing atmosphere, and the Cast Members (employees) are top notch. Pets allowed in most loops. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Hands down, best park we have ever camped in. Hands down, the most we have ever paid. But, it's Disney and you get all the privileges afforded on-property guests including early entry and free transportation. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. The grounds are gorgeous. We saw deer every day, including a 12 point buck right behind the trailer one night as I set out to walk the dog. The sites are from an era when trailers were smaller, so they too close together and you have to be careful with initial parking. But, there is still plenty of room at each site and the utilities are perfect. The 100 & 200 loops are closest to Trail's End, Crocketts and the boat to Magic Kingdom. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Attend a campfire program at least once, they are so much fun and you get to meet Chip & Dale. The food truck at the campfire has good snacks and adult beverages. Crockett's Tavern is a great place for a drink; they have a nice line-up of flavored moonshine cocktails. We drove to every park except MK. We found it faster coming & going than taking two buses (one to the front, one to the park) and it was free for resort guests.

Outstanding park as far as amenities go. Everything you could ask for. Swimming, fishing, boating, transportation to the parks, shopping, dining, biking, and more. It is beautiful and immaculately kept. The site sizes are TINY! We stayed in one of their Premium sites - the largest they offer. The first site we were assigned was on the end and required us to position ourselves across the main road and then back in at an extreme right angle. No way. They graciously reassigned us to a site that was easier to maneuver into, but STILL ridiculously tight - of course, designed in an era when RVs were not monsters like they are today. Their service was incredible, as my husband had an accident while on property (our fault) and ended up in the hospital for FIVE days! The Disney folks watched over our RV, offered to bring us food, send transportation for us, and helped us with our accommodations and park tickets since we were unable to use them all and ended up having to stay additional days. So, while prices are, indeed, high at Disney - the customer service is outstanding! Would we stay again? Not sure in light of the high prices - but sure glad we did it once! We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
