Stayed here for two nights - back in site on the middle loop. Fast and friendly check-in. In middle loop. Had to bring our 45ft coach around the opposite way to be able to back in our site due to two large trees in front of our site. Luckily, it was raining and beginning of off season. FHU and easy to get around the campground. Easy to get on and off I-75. - RVThatFamily
Jun 2017 - $30.00
The park has many things to do at nice facilties. But the sites are subpar. Nothing but dirt, soft sand and weeds. Part of the facility is for park models only. Park models and very long term campers and mixed with available sites. The staff picks up large items of trash, but do not get the little things left at the sites. Some of the activities are: a wonderful swimming pool, 4 tennis courts, miniature golf, putting green, free canoes, Internet in a clubhouse, horseshoes, and others. - Hhtjr
Aug 2016 - $20.00
We have been coming to this park since 1976 and have watched it evolve from a great RV park to a permanent park mpdel community. There are not a lot of rv sites. Of those, most good sites are annuals. The remaining are grass and in times of heavy rains the outer loop road neat Shacket Creek will flood. Sites are slow to drain. Tall pines limit satellite reception. The staff is excellent as is the large pool. Recent develope of the area has brought major stores within 2 miles. We used RPI rate for $20. Seasonal rates are quite expensive, comparable the suster Encore park of Ramblers Rest at approx. $4800 + elec for 4 months. - venice

Unfortunately, the overall condition is deteriorating (we have stayed 3 times over 3 years). The restrooms and showers need some serious attention. On the plus side, the location is very good ... Walmart, Publix, and HomeDepot within 10 minutes ... excellent beaches within 45 minutes. - BruceVero
Feb 2017 - $160.00
Went there for a quiet time to rest and relax the noise from the interstate was horrible couldn't hear yourself think..also the noseeems bugs were bad couldn't hang out out side the camper. The people for nice and friendly...the boat ramp is bad - never maintained.... Probably won't go back there even for free.. - Camper goer

We were in a premium site but were still very close to I75. The noise from the highway is difficult for sleeping if you like it quiet. We left a day early because of that. You're also packed like sardines next to other RVs. You have to empty your own trash at the dumpsters by the exit of the facility. I would expect trash service at the rate they charge. Overall, the worst place we stayed at in our 3 month trek throughout Florida. - Lnskaye

Jul 2018 - $1.00
We had free nights from our RV Dealer, so we used 3 here for our first trip. Check-in was easy, very, very nice man assisted us. We were assigned to site N-21, a standard site with 50 amp service. All grass (grass a little long) and a picnic table. Seemed OK till we realized that were were surrounded by Park Models and no other Motorhomes. Some full time residents behind us walked through our site and had their dog off leash and didn't pick-up after it. They were partiers. The next day we were allowed to move to the W Section where there were a few motorhomes and TT's that seemed like they had been there for a long time. No real interaction with the campers, they seemd put off by a motorhome that was only going to be there a few nights. The campground was clean, but I would say 90% are Park Models, if this had been high season, the place would have been packed. - TBWard

Girl at desk on Feb 10 at 1pm was eating her lunch while we were waiting in line for another rep. When she was done eating she took care of us with an attitude like we were a bother to her. The other rep was being nice to the people. This place is gated so you have to enter code to enter. Laundry and restrooms are locked and you need code to enter (I don't know why those are locked when you have to know code to enter past gate at entrance.) You need to buy a card for $3.00 to do laundry. Then you have to pay $3.00 to put money on card to wash or dry clothes (1.50 each). About 85% permanents here. Most are nice. But several were junky. Many, many trees providing shade. Park is next to river. They have a nice picnic area there. No cable TV but got several TV channels over the air. They do a lot of activities here. I liked that this resort was away from city traffic but not too far away. - RonH999
Oct 2016 - $53.00
The Rambler's Rest RV Resort is located about 4-miles south of I-75, at exit 191 (River Road) on I-75. The park entrance will be on the east side of River Road (left turn if coming from I-75). The entrance comes up on you fairly fast. Our GPS took us right to the gate. After turning into the entrance immediately veer to your right into a large parking lot used for registration. The office is located on the other side of the main road across from the registration lot. Rambler's Rest is part of the Encore/Thousand Trails chain. In general, the resort looks good and seems genuinely cared for but some of the seasonal sites look run-down. I didn't see any concrete pads and our site (W-138) was mostly grass over a small patch of old gravel with full hookups. The park does not offer cable TV but we were able to bring in some local over-the-air channels. If you want to use your satellite dish ask for a spot in the "newer" W-section. Most of those sites will have a clear view of the sky for either roof mounted or portable dishes. The trade off will be little shade. And it gets hot in September. The park is pet friendly and the roads are easily navigable even for big rigs like ours. I had to laugh when I tried the WiFi it offered us complimentary 10-minutes of use before asking us to pay. We opted to use our Verizon hotspot instead. River Road can be busy but we heard absolutely no road noise, just the occasional airplane going over. Site spacing is about average, maybe a bit above. But beware if it rains hard as the ground will become saturated fairly easily. Jack pads are a must. This was our first time at Rambler's Rest and as we were visiting family during the day we didn't have an opportunity to check out the amenities at the resort. We may stay here again. - rk911

Dec 2018 - $70.00
Okay, so this review comes with a caveat. It's under new management (when we arrived) so I think a lot of the issues will be addressed in time, will see. On arrival, impressed with the entrance, the huge water slide and the check-in. We were escorted to a unhitch area to unhitch our trailer from our fifth wheel and then escorted to our lot around a very, very tight turn. The lot didn't impress us at all, lots of gravel, not kept up at all. We were close to the pool so the area we stayed in was grand central, trucks, diesels and movement all hours of day and night. I think the biggest kicker was their bulldozers / bobcats going back and forth, shook our RV regularly. The slide was only opened on Saturdays for a few hours. And we were VERY surprised they didn't open it on Christmas day with all the families present and the sun very hot. They have a full woodshop, art studio, billiard hall, shuffleboard and pool. The pool is amazing, backs right up to a full bar with alcohol and music. We visited the park because it was kid friendly, but on many occasions that was not so. One staff member rudely yelled at us for bringing my 10 year old boy into the gym to workout with me, "he can't be here". Same happened with bingo, except the lady was rude over the PA system. Having played bingo at Jellystone, the kids looked forward to playing and instead had to feel the sting of a rude, cranky person. That is pretty prevalent throughout the community so if you have kids, be ready for it. The price they charge is just not worth it in our opinion (with kids), but the place is HUGE and lots to do. Beach is a drive away so its the park or a long drive. - HonestFamilyReviews

Been here many times and have always enjoyed it. Nice pool, hot tub, pool bar, lake for the kids to fish, lots to do. Place is always adding to the amenities and doing a great job. For a larger motorhome, ask for the Queen section. Nice pull thru's. - Lostinfla

We normally spend four months here during the winter/early spring. Our summer trip was occasioned by a need to visit a very ill friend. This is our favorite Florida campground! Staff wonderful. Incredible number of things to do, in and out of the park, even in the summer. - dandd

The site we were in was nice size. The biggest negative was that our site faced a city street with homes on the other side of the road so no real ambiance. - David and Debbie
Feb 2018 - $55.00
There is NOTHING the staff here can do to make this park better! I agree with all the positive reviews and would add that the washrooms/showers (tile throughout) and the well-equipped workout room are immaculate, the upgraded WiFi is by far the best I've encountered in 18 years of RVing, the cable provides over 50 digital channels and the meals (prepared twice weekly by a professional chef) continue to be delicious and nutritious. The office and grounds staff are dedicated to making your stay easy and enjoyable and the mail is delivered, sorted and put into the pigeon holes daily. Very friendly folks live here. The park was recently acquired by a corporation and I really hope they don't spoil a very good thing with staff and procedural changes. I cannot recommend Sarasota Sunny South strongly enough as it is run now. - ebdavis

Feb 2018 - $72.00
This is a nice campground right on the beach. The campground is small and all the sites are back-in. We didn't have any problems backing into our site as we have a small RV, but I could see it being more challenging to larger units. There are a few trees and small shrubs between sites, but you are very close to your neighbors. It was mostly sunny with a small bit of shade. We had full hookups and the water, electric and sewer were located toward the back of the site. The restrooms and showers were clean. The laundry room/rec room was large and they had a table set up with a jigsaw puzzle. All the fellow campers were very friendly and helpful. The staff in the office were nice, although the office does close at 4:30 and they do not take cash--only credit card-even for a bag of ice. We did not use the WiFi. There are no pets allowed. The star attraction for this campground is the beach--you walk out the back of the campground and you are right on the beach. Absolutely amazing sunsets! We will definitely be back. There is a Publix supermarket just before you get on the island and a small grocery store in Siesta Key Village (free shuttle to the village). - gatorbaityogi
Jul 2017 - $40.00
We stayed over the July 4th weekend and had a good time. The park was clean, the restrooms were clean and the staff very friendly. The sites have full hook ups with cable and I got a strong signal with my remote Direct TV dish. The Wi-Fi also work very well. It is very tight to back in and pull out with trees in bad spots and campers on the other side of the single lane dive in road. Enjoy the fishing and the restaurants directly across the street. Plus it has a few trolley service with a pickup stop just out side the park gate. I will be going back. - TD225

Love this place, it is a little tight, bit worth it because of the amazing beach, tip, if you are towing a car, use the large parking lot next door to unhook/hookup, also you can get a pass to park car for $5 a day. - Eastyorkie

We were lucky to get two nights available as we were making last minute plans heading south. So glad we finally got to visit this park! Trees and bushes provide privacy between sites. Lots of gators, rosette spoonbill, ibis and other birds. Nice gravel level site. Lots of space to drive or hike around. Enjoyed the view from the top of the tower on the canopy walk - treetops in every direction as far as you can see, without any man-made obstructions, is a rare thing in Florida. We would stay here again. - Roaming Together
Oct 2018 - $16.00
Attractive campground with wild flowers and shrubs between sites. Unfortunately our experience was disappointing because of a problem with the water purification system. We understand problems but although the staff was aware, they did not inform campers. After two days, we finally asked. Wildlife viewing, places to walk, ride bikes, and drive. - lce3
Sep 2018 - $26.00
There are 3 campgrounds in this park, I stayed at the Big Flats campground , which is only a 5 minute walk to Kayak/canoe/bicycle rental and the park restaurant and boat ramp. Lots of wildlife, plenty of alligators , raccoons, turkeys , birds, birds and more birds, deer and wild hogs, which they aggressively trap. Miles of hiking trails both in shade and in sun, flat lands and hammocks and a " canopy walk ". Had a little issue with their 30 amp receptacle making contact with my plug in, poor design on the electrical box, at least that's my opinion. Sewer not at this site, dump station on the way out of the park. Fresh, drinking water hookup was available on this site. " I will be back" Lots more to explore. I hiked and kayak at this park. - Cdr Bob

Mar 2018 - $20.00
We are full timers and stayed from July 2012 to June 2017. We left after they sold and were planning to upgrade the park. New owners found getting permits to build on Florida waterways is very strict and they are, after a year, still in limbo. They started allowing RVers back but only short-term and even though there have been NO improvements they are now charging $745 a month, we were paying $515 last year. We had enjoyed the place even though it was very rural and not kept up. Any storms caused blackouts and the water was always an issue. The best part was being able to park under the beautiful trees and not being on a slab which makes it even hotter inside your RV. The wildlife and fishing is great too. I have never understood how people can park in direct sun; it seriously wrecks and fades the finish on RVs and you will burn out an air conditioner if you run it for any period of time. - karen46
Feb 2017 - $40.00
This is an "old Florida" type campground. Roads are dirt, sites are dirt. The picnic tables were beat up and need to be replaced. There is a nice restraunt on site that has karaoke and music on the weekends. They close at 10 pm and the park gets nice and quiet. There is a boat ramp for the river and all sites slope down that way. They are talking about a lot of improvements in the near future. - esta34950
Feb 2016 - $48.00
Forget the campground! We paid $184 for 3 nights and they had the worst facilities of any of the 7 places we camped while in Florida. The showers look extremely old, not even a shower curtain. We talked to some campers who started camping there 7 years ago and were paying $350/mo. They said the rate next year was going over $1,000/mo and they are looking for a new campground. The roads in the campground are terrible, and the place looks junky! There was a small dock behind our site that was falling in the water. Their photo gallery does not show the campground just the restaurant. - c22jrc

This is not really an rv park. It is more of a park model community with a few rv spaces to rent. It is incredibly clean and has many amenities, such as a heated pool, shuffleboard, movie night, tennis, coffee & donuts, etc. It is right next to the airport and you do hear plenty of planes taking off and landing. The people who live here (mostly for the winter) love the place and are very friendly. We were here for a week to visit friends who live nearby and it was ideal. The cable hook-ups are weird but there are plenty of regular channels. - virginianola
Jul 2017 - $43.00
This is a very clean community. I really wouldn't call it an RV park. They have 400 spaces, with 40 of them given to RV's as rentals. The rest are mobile homes. It's very quiet here, and very clean. The site is all concrete, and has a picnic table. The laundry was clean and cheap ($1.25 to wash and $.75 to dry) - but no change machine. No wifi at sites. Large pool. Very convenient location to Sarasota attractions. Because the price is good and the location is minutes away from Sarasota, I would definitely stay here again if in the area. - jillhodges
Jan 2016 - $53.00
A bit pricey, but very nice. This is a gated community, with access by card. Almost all are permanent mobile homes, with only a few spots for rv's. Very nice office staff and residences. The only noise was the planes taking off and landing at the very nearby airport. If I didn't know better, I would have thought they were landing on our RV. The spots are super narrow and so are the streets. All the streets are paved and the spots are cement. Many one way streets. Over all, very nice and we will be back again. - esta34950
