We've stayed in Phase 3 and Phase 5 of the resort. We prefer the Phase 3 because it is the most comfortable for us- large spaces with lush greenery and privacy. Phase 5 , overlooking the water, is beautiful, but no cover or lush greenery. The resort is expensive for everything, but it offers so many amenities (for grown ups and kids!) - zip lining, rock climbing, mechanical bull, mini golf, a real rodeo, archery, skeet range, restaurant, general store, hotel, luxury tee-pees, cabins, fishing, and more. My questionable issue is that they say they promote veterans and the American flag, yet offer NO discount for active or retired personnel. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Great place to bring kids and or grandkids. Just bring some extra money for their things to do. Also, come to the resort with the necessary groceries/food, as the nearest grocery store or Walmart is 25 mikes away. Note, there is a General Store on the resort that carries plenty of nice to have and necessities, just know they will cost you more...much more.

We enjoy staying at River Ranch. Since each site is individually owned, each is unique and generally all are far superior in quality to the average campground site. The prices at all the amenities operated by Westgate Resort are on the expensive side. We also noticed that the maintenance of many of amenities areas appears to be slipping. Given that these areas are the primary attractions since nothing else is close-by, the declining up-keep of these areas is impacting the overall quality of the experience. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The resort is in a rural area of Polk County with nothing major nearby. However, these is on-site dining and a fairly well-stocked general store.

There were 5 couples that made reservations and we were side by side in the RV Park on a canal. We did make the reservations for 7 nights. The checking in at registration was difficult because of lack of parking for the motor homes. The accommodations at each site was wonderful. The Rodeo was a must see event. The men did do trap shooting at their range and the ladies enjoyed the archery. Four of us went to The Pro Shop to play golf. We were told that we had to go ALL the way back to Registration to check-in and pay. We did this. Once at the 9 hole course, we were highly disappointed. There were no directions from hole to hole. There was absolutely NOTHING on the course to drink. The course itself was terribly maintained. The fairways were OK. The rough was, if you could even find your golf ball was like it had NEVER ever been mowed. Some of the greens looked as though the cattle had been on them for several days with deep holes in them. Later, we found out that only ONE lady maintains the entire facility. We played the golf course twice that day , our first time and our last time. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We've been coming to River Ranch for many years, but won't be going back. We always stay on the water and the rental sites are becoming run down. We had power problems for 3 days, finally fixed by an Electrician and the power company removing the meter base for repairs. The power pedestals are old, worn out breakers, cable wires hanging loose, missing plug covers, etc. We attempted to have dinner at the Smokehouse and after 1/2 an hour of no service, 6 of us left. The local residents near our site commented they haven't been there in 8 years, we now know why. This is a beautiful Florida location, but is falling behind on upkeep and customer service. For 90+ bucks a night, it falls way short. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

River Ranch RV Resort is an ownership RV resort in the Westgate River Ranch resort development. While many owners leave their rigs permanently at their site, several others put their sites into the rental pool when they are not using them. Since each site is privately owned, each one is different in terms of set-up and layout, however all are first class. River Ranch RV Resort is co-located with the Westgate River Ranch Resort and Rodeo timeshare facility. Both are owned and operated by Westgate and form one integrated complex, but each is ran separately. Thus, when booking, make sure you have the correct location since the timeshare facility also offers RV sites, however they are "no frills" and lack sewer. Also, while owners and renters at River Ranch RV Resort can use the timeshare amenities on the property (including a petting zoo, "adventure park," marina, and full-service restaurant), they do not receive any discounts. While the rates here are expensive, the overall experience made it worth it. We definitely plan to return. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Keep in mind this resort is located in rural Polk County. Lake Wales is about 30 minutes or so away and is the closest town. If you need anything major beyond simple sundries carried in the on-site general store, get them before you arrive. The on-site restaurant was very good. Tried it a couple times and the food was good both times. Service was a little lacking the first time, but the server we had next time was spot-on.

River Ranch is a very very nice location. We got a rental in phase 3 - the shaded/landscaped section. There is also water front/no shade phase 5. Phase 1 & 2 are older park models with the signs of the past. I got the impression some people live here year round or just come on vacations. Office staff very outgoing and helpful. Check in parking is kind of confusing as you park in the middle of the road. Its a walk back to the office. Best to call ahead. Site had a beautiful lush landscape with paving, seating and trees. Huge cable, wifi extra cost and no att cell. Pool open with repairs going on. Long horn cattle and buffalo to be seen. Some things closed except on weekend this time of year. Bring a book. A long drive to town for food choices. Captive patrons at the onsite grill pay $10.00 for a burger and $5.00 for a domestic beer. Other choices UP from there. The general store has sandwich's and stuff. We cooked in.

We love, love River Ranch. The sites are individually owned, and some are in the rental pool. They range from no shade all the way up to lots of shade. However, there is lush landscaping between most sites. The place is very clean and well kept. There's tons to do...pool, airboat rides, swamp buggy rides, mini golf, golf, petting farm, horseback rides, zip line, Saturday night rodeo with street dance, Friday night line dancing in the saloon...some free and some cost $. There's a little "town" with a western motiff that has a general store, post office, laundromat, etc. The prices in the general store are a little high. It also has ice cream, sandwiches, etc. There's a restaurant, and the food was excellent. Walmart is a straight drive up Hwy 60 and is 30 minutes away, so is doable if staying a longer time and need groceries. The rate reflects a weekly rate. We only live 45 minutes away and have been here many times. We'll definitely be back. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This place is amazing! So much to do and the lots are the best I have ever seen! We stayed in phase 3 Lot 349 under the Oak trees, the lot is awesome! Sites are very large and private, have stuff like HD TV,lights, swings, fire pits and nice seating. Countless amenities on site including two bars , restaurant and marina I would highly recommend this place. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

River Ranch offers you good recreation for children. They have a zip line, rock wall, archery, fishing, etc. There is a restaurant on site that is okay. We take our granddaughters there and they enjoy all that is offered in the way of recreation. However, almost all the activities come with a cost, so it can be pricey to stay here. I rated this campground a 9, I would have rated it a 10 if the camp store wasn't so expensive. We bought a quart of milk at $5.00 and 2 pastries at $4.50 each. The biggest problem was that the pastries were old and we couldn't even eat them.

Now for the park.

We were on the water in space 448. The reason they gave us that spot is because they said it had shade. It did not. 449 had the shade. The grounds are immaculate. All RV spots are individually owned, so each spot can and will have different amenities. The RVs share the property with Westgate timeshares. They can't use the RV amenities and we can't use theirs. Everything that Westgate offers has a cost such as the rodeo, the entertainment areas; miniature golf and so forth. They have a petting zoo which is free. The workers at the petting zoo really take pride in the animals. When I talked to the 2 guys that were working it you could tell that they really wanted to be there. The pony ride was $5.00 per child and it was a really long ride. 3 of my kids did archery and that was $8.00. The rodeo was $17 per adult and $9 per child. We enjoyed ourselves very much. There had to be 500 people there. The performers were very talented. They had barrel races, bull riding, and horse skills. The kids participated in the calf scramble, which was hysterical.

The sites on the water have a pier at each spot. we had a porch swing. There is a separation from each space by foliage. You don't feel like you're on top of each other.

The RV spots that were not on the water seemed like you were in a forest. The trees were so old and there was Spanish moss hanging from them.

The 2 pools and hot tubs that are available to us seemed to be adequate, however the park wasn't very crowded.

The bathrooms and 3 laundry rooms were very clean.

The closest town is almost an hour away, so make sure you have everything you need before getting there.

Most of the people there are owners and everyone was friendly. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a great place to stay. There are plenty of things to do and see for people of all ages. It was easy to locate and the access to the sites was great. Each site is privately owned, so the amenities on each site varies. Ours was set up so the people next to us shares a common area which was great because we were in two rigs. Love this place. It is super clean. The sites are concrete and level with extra patio space for table. Cable has lots of channels. Lots to do - pool, rodeo, air boat rides, putt-putt golf, petting farm, tennis, & more. There's a general store with supplies and a restaurant. Site was considered a premium site. The standard sites are $10.00 cheaper. Rate includes a discount - pay for 5 & get 2 free. Wi-Fi was $15.00 for 1 week and worked well. Will definitely stay here again. What a great campground. Was on site 308. Very nice spacious site. Good shade, wooden deck, fire pit, jacuzzi. Good water pressure, good electric, good cable, and good sewer. Did not use the wifi. Lots of things to do around the grounds. Petting zoo, wildlife, rodeo, saloon, arcade, fun zone, mini golf, airboat rides, buggy rides, hay rides, and an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos for Easter weekend. Very friendly staff and quiet all around. We will definitely be back. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The listed daily rate was for a special rate of stay 5 days and get two days free. This is a very nice park with lots of activities on site; although, some are only on weekends. We had a site on the canal, and one day rented a pontoon boat from the marina. A two hour rental was $110. The biggest draw back to this park is it's location. It is a long way from everything, so be sure to stock up with everything you need before you get here. There is a store on site with some staples, but for any more than a day or two you will need to pack it in with you. I would stay here again. We camped at River Ranch RV Resort in a Motorhome.
