Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived after the park ranger went off duty, but we easily found a site without a "reserved" sign attached to the site marker. The site was small but worked for a one-night stay with our 31 ft. Class C and a tow vehicle. Site had water and electric, and we had no problems. Our only complaint, and it's not really a complaint because it's just Florida reality, is ticks. Our dog walked through some scrubby weeds and got covered in baby ticks. Quite a nightmare bathing our English Bulldog at midnight. Like I said, this is not really a complaint, it's really just a warning to be careful where your dogs walk. When we pulled out the next morning, we still couldn't find a park ranger to pay for our stay and no instructions other than to return at 3:00 p.m., so we left $20.00 in the donation box. We would not hesitate to stay at this park again. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great example of a beautiful Florida State Park. It is easy to locate right off of Route 90 and the entrance is well marked. The road in goes over a set of RR tracks and under an arch which are not a problem. Check in is fast and easy, everyone is very professional and extremely helpful. There is one road within the park which is narrow but easy to navigate. Our site was #20, back in, hard packed sand, level and utilities were conveniently located and in good order. Be forewarned, water pressure is low to none. This is the only park that I don't - can't -use a water pressure regulator in. Site separation is good and there are plenty of shade trees which keep the temperature in the rig under control. Bring plenty of bug spray! The park is well groomed and well taken care of. We were able to get a few over the air channels and even able to get a satellite signal with our Dish antenna. Verizon WiFi is very weak making any kind of upload or download slow to none. The trails are well worth hiking. Take time to discover the historical sites in the park. If you like to canoe the river is right there. A big shout out to the Park Staff. Due to a medical emergency we had to extend our stay and they provided us with a site for as long as needed. Live Oak is 15 minutes away and thought it is a small town it has a number of gas stations and restaurants. Everyone in town was very friendly. Lake City is about 30 minutes away and has everything you might need. There is a hospital in both towns. We would return here again. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Motorhome.

We (accidentally) booked a handicap site (#27). This back-in site had a very large (Long/wide) level concrete pad. All other sites appeared to be gravel. Lots of beautiful mature trees throughout the park and campground area. The river and surrounding trails are lovely. Most trails are easy walks and under 1 mile. THIS IS WHAT FLIRIDA CAMPING SHOULD BE. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Motorhome.

WARNING - Not Big Rig Friendly. The audience for this review is owners of big rigs. If you are not a big rig, then this park is probably a great place to stay. We reserved a site for a 45' motorhome. Glad we disconnected and scouted in our tow vehicle before driving the motorhome into the park. Although our site was long enough to accomodate a 45'er, the curvy loop road to get to the site is narrow and lined with trees, posts, stumps, etc. No reasonable way to back into the reserved site. There are a few sites towards the back of the loop where this is not the case, however they were occupied. You can navigate the loop to these sites if you are slow and careful, and the park is not crowded and other site occupants don't crowd the roadway. The staff was great and understood our dilemma. They attempted to find another available site that might work, and when none were found, agreed to refund our money including reservation fees without issue. Also note that sites (with a few exceptions) are dirt and sand, not very level, and at least ours had large tree roots that if we could have fit, would have had to navigate placement of our tires and jack pads. If we were in a smaller rig, we would have stayed and enjoyed the park. Seemed peaceful. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Motorhome.

Sometimes the ranger is not on duty at the check-in station, just proceed to your reserved site, or if you don't have reservations , drive on thru look for a unreserved site , occupy it then go back and register. Sites can be unlevel , some sites had concrete pads others were dirt & sand. Restrooms and showers were excellent. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Small shady campground with full hook-ups and a new rest room in state park right on the Suwannee River. Boat launch has small dirt parking lot next to launch. A playground and hiking trails are the only attractions other than the river. A very quiet and peaceful place to stay. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was our first visit to Suwanee River State Park, we stayed 3 nights. This park is lovely with wide open spacious sites, shaded and clean. All had fire rings, picnic tables, electric, water and sewage hook ups. The bathrooms and showers were clean, not air conditioned but had huge fans that kept it comfortable. If you bring a kayak or canoe or are a hiker then you will like this park. Otherwise, there isn't a whole lot to do here. There is a few historic areas that you can walk to easily within the park and all can be done within an hour. We were bothered by gnats, a few mosquitoes and ticks, so be careful, wear your bug spray and check each others bodies for ticks. The park was quiet and we did not have any issues. There is a convenience store immediately to the right of the park when you drive out that has a deli with prepared food or you can drive about 15 minutes into Live Oak for a few choices of restaurants. We camped at Suwannee River State Park in a Travel Trailer.
