May 2018 - $22.00
Located on navy sub base king's Bay. Easy to get through the gate with our big class a providing you use the directions on the DOD lodging website. This park is medium sized and in right on a beautiful lake. The concrete pads look short but are just long enough for a big rig to put down jacks. Hookups were nice, well-positioned and more than adequate. This base is spread out which gives the feeling that there isn't a lot going on. Also, there was a pistol range nearby but hardly bothered us with the noise. This place is quiet and clean and out of the way. I will stay here again. - Beware thyself
Mar 2018 - $17.00
Best military rv park of our trip! I can see why it is rated so highly. Free laundry, cable, sewer at site, level concrete pads, thoughtful layout with wide interior road and plenty of turning space, overflow parking with shared utility post (30/50 and water), very nice community center with full kitchen, card room, and lounge area, very nice ladies room/showers with toiletries and air freshener and upholstered benches! Even a community swap shelf for trading over unwanted items to someone else who might find them useful. Nice location on a lake, and the area seems to offer a good amount of supporting business. We'll definitely stay here again! - Tin Can Twosome
Nov 2017 - $20.00
Outstanding! Clean, neat and plenty of room between each site. Free laundry and great facilities. Each site has a concrete pad, patio, fire pit, picnic table and a well kept lawn. The utilities are in a little fenced area surrounded by bushes so they are not unsightly. Whoever designed this RV park was an RVer. It is set up with plenty of room to maneuver, wide roads, large sites. I have nothing bad to say at all. We would go back again and again. - jomark

Nov 2018 - $21.00
A lovely, small, well maintained campground with winding roads and live oaks draped in Spanish Moss. We arrived after the office closed, so were told to just take our site when we got there, which we did. No resort folderol here - just a nice, quiet campground full of pleasant people. Our concrete slab site was level and the utilities were convenient. The staff was very helpful. We found an excellent dog sitter who lives in town, you can get her name at the office. - ShoreXplorers
Jul 2018 - $42.00
Place hasn't changed. Been here before and it's always been good. Rained here pretty hard the evening we arrived but the area drained quickly and all is good. Front office friendly and helpful. Park is convenient to down town St Mary which is a very nice little town and worth a visit. Our 2 night stay went well, as usual, and we will return again. - Gerry9
Jul 2018 - $39.00
Had site number 1 - very nice concrete pad across from the rest rooms, showers and awesome laundry. The park is clean and well kept with a beautiful canopy of trees and Spanish moss over the sites. The owner was very nice as well as her staff. They know the area well and were helpful with information and the history of St Marys. We stayed for 6 days and were really able to relax. We will stay with them again and highly recommend anyone in the area to stop for a few days and take in St Marys. It's a very historic town. - Tfrout

Feb 2019 - $27.00
A well managed park. It is what you would expect for a rating of 9. The registration staff were pleasant and helpful. We came in a couple of hours before check-in(1pm) and asked us to wait in an adjacent parking lot for the site to be cleaned. Fifteen minutes later we got the call. The campground is very clean, spacious, open and easy to manage your rig. All sites are level and long. There is several camp host and they are alway busy doing something. The roads are like-new blacktop with gravel sites. Half of the campsites (east side) have sewer hookup which is not mentioned on ReserveAmerica. Good Verizon and received ~20 OTA channels. There are several well maintained hiking trails that can be biked, a bird watching blind and a couple of raised stands for watching wildlife. We would definitely stay here again! - Land Wanderer
Jan 2019 - $36.00
We spent 12 nights here before moving on down to Florida, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The recently rebuilt sites are spacious and kept very clean by the great volunteer staff. We were on the full hookup loop, and the electric, water, ad sewer hookups were well placed and easy to use. The restroom building on our loop was brand new last year, and has four family style private bathrooms, two of them handicap equipped. The building also houses two washers and dryers, with loads just $0.75. The park is located about 20 minutes from a large number of stores and restaurants in St Marys and adjoining Kingsland, including a Super Walmart and many others. We will be back here for another week when we start our northward trek in the spring, and very much looking forward to it. - NYDutch

I have been so impressed with the quality of Georgia State Parks and Crooked River is no exception. Beautiful park with spacious sites. Our site included sewer. No wifi or cable, but hotspot was fine and we could pick up major networks with the antenna. Good size fire ring that came in handy on a chilly night. Restroom facilities were conveniently located. Camp Ranger and Campground Hosts were very friendly and helpful. We were treated to a spectacular viewing of the Wolf Blood Moon as there was no light pollution. A wonderful camping experience. - g8r80

Nice park for overnight. Close to I-95. Nice shopping in St. Mary's several miles down the road. TV cable so fuzzy at our spot could not watch. But it's clean and there are a few full time residents here. - archbarb
Dec 2018 - $40.00
This was a great overnight RV park. All pull thru sites. The ladies shower area (back area) had alot to be desired. It was clean where the sinks are but there was alot of "curly" hairs inside the shower. The shower area itself was very small . The mens shower area light was out. (notified staff on leaving, so probably fixed now). They do have a nice gym room. They offer a waffle breakfast but bacon/sausage was extra. The interior roads were nice and this is easily off I-95 and has a PFJ on the corner to gas up. Would return again iof only for the night. - WVnewbee
Nov 2018 - $43.00
Very nice convenience store. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice selection of cable TV channels. Our site didn't have sewer and the dump station was too tight for our 42 foot 5th wheel. Staff allowed me to pull into a site with sewer to dump. Live music on weekends. - Mnolasco

As Joe Friday would say,"Just the facts Mam." The name of this park is accurate, there are many country oaks here. Some of the oaks have big branches which hang over the roads in the park. These trees and their branches are not marked as being a hazard in any typical method. What is used to mark them is a rope tied to one of the offending branches with a noodle attached to the bottom of said rope. Yes, a noodle like you play with in a pool. Since it was dark and never having been here before and not recognizing the noodle rope method of hazard warning, I hit the branch. The awning was partially torn off and numerous holes torn in the roof. The manager appeared and help me identify that indeed I had hit a big limb with a noodle tied to it with a rope and I was not the first person to have done so. She showed us to our site where we hooked up to utilities and tried to go to sleep.Things did not look better in the light of day. The manager was kind enough to loan me a ladder and hacksaw to cut off the remains of my awning. She then requested payment in full and offered the card of a local RV repair service. The manager, who was pleasant, was not overly concerned with my plight. Maybe it is such a common occurrence she had become numb to the customers pain. I wired the remains of the awning to the fifth wheel and covered the holes with duct tape and continued on my journey. The damage is being repaired and the bill is close to $11,000. My daughter in law, the attorney, said, well you can guess what she said I should do. I chose instead to give this warning. Don't drive your RV until you are tired and try to park in the dark. If you see a tree with numerous large chunks knocked out of the bark and a noodle tied to it with a rope please avoid it. I think you might want to avoid this campground too! - Shady Spring

Friendly Staff. Pull in sites. Sites are gravel, Level. Small and quiet. Clean. Perfect for a stay while traveling through. Close to Interstate and gas stations. - Jan Orlando
May 2018 - $38.00
Small campground close to I95. Most sites seem to be long term. There are about a dozen pull thrus for transients (us). Site was adequate for overnight. Hookups easy to reach. Roads are paved and a bit tight, but not scary. Pads are gravel and seem mostly level. Bathrooms and showers basic, but clean. Lots of trees and a small pond. No amenities. No cable or WiFi but we had no trouble with satellite and Verizon. Good evernight stop. 34' Class A towing. - Donauw

Jun 2018 - $40.00
Updating other reviews - NO DISCOUNTS AT ALL AS OF JUNE 2018. Asked about everything, the answer was no Passport America, no Good Sam, no AARP, no military... Nothing. The rates are $40/day, $250/wk, $650/mo. All plus tax. Very simple park, a row of pull-throughs and a row of back-in spaces. Clean and organized, well groomed grass and concrete pads that are solid. The location is convenient to the highway, but is right behind a RaceTrack gas station and adjacent to a Waffle House. After a moderately heavy rain, a significant portion of the spaces are actually under several inches of water. I actually have my RV stored in this town and needed someplace to do some work on it, and paying for the site was cheaper than feeding the generator. Other than that, $40 a night for what you get doesn't seem like a great value, the Petro truck stop next door offers the same basics (a parking place and not much more) but lacks the hookups. So this is $40 for utilities. - GatorFan2
Aug 2017 - $40.00
This is a nice, clean, well located park for a day or two in the area. Some of the other parks around have some unusual occupants; however, this one does not have that problem. Personnel is very friendly and helpful. Sites are long and driveways are wide. Petro next door for diesel. Lots of grass. We have been here before and will return. - Freedom Bus
Mar 2017 - $38.00
This is a small campground attached to the nearby Econo Lodge. Check in is at the motel office. Advertised as a Passport America park, the PPA basic rate is $30 plus $5 for a pull thru. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to pay full price. There are 4 pull thrus available for travelers. The rest of the campground is full of long term campers so not back ins are available at the lower price. Campground is easy on/off the interstate and there is some noise associated with a nearby truck stop and busy road. Bathrooms and laundry are available in the motel but no additional bathhouse is available. Parking pads were concrete and very narrow and close to neighboring site. Utilities were adequate with good Verizon cell and hotspot. No issues getting our roof top satellite locked in. We normally would stay at a nearby military campground but since it was full, we opted for this campground for the full hook ups. We would stay here in the future if needed. - roadking

Mar 2018 - $40.00
We had two nights of vacation left and really wanted to visit St. Mary's historic district before heading north. This campground showed on our map as just off i95 which we considered perfect. As mentioned in most of the reviews, this is an older park with a large population of residents and many older homes. Sites are extremely small, but without a slide this wasn't a problem. Water pressure, WiFi and TV were good. Site was level and hard. What I really liked were 1. Friendly staff and 2. Friendly neighbors. Everyone at least offered a greeting and one fellow stopped by each night and visited for some time. We didn't have time to take advantage of the hiking trails or lake. The only real downside was the traffic noise. i95 is really close and the traffic doesn't let up during the night. - Mark Ramsden
Mar 2016 - $44.00
Mostly permanent residents with lots of clutter around the units. Cracked concrete pads. Very narrow sites, some not conducive to multiple slides. Clean but very old bathrooms. Game room dumpy. Staff friendly, clean laundry, and close to interstate for those just traveling through the area. Great Internet, able to stream without a problem. - dkTennessee
Aug 2015 - $30.00
Had to stay two nights but will never stay again. Directions were useless. Billboard hadn't been changed to reflect the new name, nobody working in office and cell phones apparently not in use because we tried several times to call and had zero luck. Place was packed with seasonal campers and very close quarters. I asked my wife to pass the pepper and the guy next door brought it over. - Mr. Camper

We stayed here in a motorhome using our Passport America discount. It was a hot few days, so we did use the pool which was crystal clear and refreshing. Good electric service was a plus as we had to run our AC most of the time. The clubhouse was nice, though it didn't seem to get much use. People were very friendly. The park is very convenient to I-95, though far enough away so you don't really hear traffic noise. There is a walking trail, but we didn't realize it until our last day when it rained. We were able to hook up to WiFi and got good telephone service. The campground was very tight, especially for bigger rigs like ours with slides out on both sides. Our awning just about touched our neighbor's slide out. However, there were many people who seemed to be spending a week or two or more there. It is convenient to St. Marys, St. Simmons Island and even Jacksonville. There's not much right close by, but we did go to Brunswick shopping one day. St. Mary's is also fairly close. - GypsyQ
Oct 2018 - $39.00
Just an overnight stop for us. I found this park on Passport America so was expecting half price. Was told that all of the PA sites were taken and the best they could do was 10 percent off. We took it anyway because we needed to stop. My complaint is that we arrived at 1:00 which was check-in time. Most, if not all, sites appeared to be permanent set-ups with lots of stuff outside. So how can PA sites be sold out at check-in time when everyone has been there for months? Sites are very tight, gravel, dirt and grass. Nice dog park. New restrooms and laundry. We would look elsewhere before spending almost $40 to stay here again. - thekites
Aug 2018 - $35.00
We have stay here 3 times on overnights..in 2017 and twice in 2018. In 2017 there were making improvements to the Camp/RV park...and it have a new restroom/shower and other areas. Never used the pool or recreational area, but look nice and the staff are very nice an helpful. We will always stay here on our way home to Florida. - Madjack

If you want to visit the area of Fernandina Beach, then this is the most convenient place to stay. Fort Clinch is closer, but it is very difficult to find a spot there during the summer months and at times you are overrun with Mosquitos. The spots that are held open for transient guest are fairly large and lever and it does adjoin Lofton Creek that has a boat ramp and dock area. Other then that the campsite has no other amenities to offer. I think the manager attempts to keep the bath and shower area clean but it is old and difficult especially with the permanent residents continually dragging in mud and dirt. Notwithstanding, until there is a better alternative, this is the best place to stay if you want to visit the Fernandina Beach area. - laringrp

Nov 2018 - $26.00
One of the problems with this campground is that it set the bar really high for us with other Florida State Parks. After passing through the main entrance, the approach road to the campgrounds is long and "canopied" with tree branches arched over the road and draped in Spanish moss. Our site was on the ocean side, very windy and raining when we were there. We parked nose in to enjoy the view of the sand dunes and ocean, and ran our water and electric under the coach. We took our chairs and books over to the river side (by the other campground, more protected from the wind), watched boats and saw dolphins! Also saw several deer in sea oats near the beach and around the campground. Site was hard packed and level, easy in and out. We would definitely stay here again. - Roaming Together
Nov 2018 - $28.00
Driving down the state park road towards the campground is like driving into a fantasy land. There is a canopy of live oaks with Spanish moss swaying in the breeze. Be careful as you drive as a few limbs are low or close to side of the road. In a couple places we had to drive in the middle of the road. There are 2 campgrounds here we stayed at Amelia River. This is beautiful and shaded with many trees. Short walk to beach but no swimming as current is swift. You can however fish, collect shells, or sunbathe. The Atlantic campground is a newer section right near a swimming beach. There are no live oaks here but there are a few palm trees so there is little shade. - CindyL
May 2018 - $28.00
Overall it was a great experience. We camped in site 54 (river campground) which was large enough for our 40' motorhome. Did not use the restrooms or showers. The camping area was clean and most sites were spacious. The edge of the campground is the river, which has a beach that extends to the Fort. Great spot for a sunset. We scraped a few branches on the canopy road from the gate to the camp site. Larger limbs which could be hazards are marked and can be avoided. If your under 10' height, probably will not be an issue. We would camp here again. - DJR CMR
