We usually try to stay at least two weeks in this wonderful park every visit to Florida. Some really nice, large sites, some of which are full hookups, some truly beautiful walking trails, but the main attraction to this park is the incredible springs and river. Easily some of the best paddling in freshwater anywhere in Florida. If you don't own kayaks, do yourself a favor and rent them here. Super clear water allows for great views of the fish, gators, and manatees. Book well in advance if you want a full hookup site. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

We stayed in cabin #10. Liked this location because it's at the end of the row and secluded. Cabin was very clean although there was a strong odor of flowery fragrance from cleaning materials in the kitchen. 2 good sized bedrooms 1 has queen bed and other 2 twins. Gas fireplace but doesn't let out a lot of heat because it's glass enclosed also on a timer. There is central air and heat in cabin. Bedding is provided as well as linens. Very basic kitchen stuff. Has a dishwasher and microwave. Says cabin will fit 6 but only items for 4 provided. Bring extra if more people. We could see have a family gathering here easily. We hiked 2 trails-River Trail and Sinkhole trail both were easy hikes, River trail was wet from recent rain. During week not much going on but weekends are busy with the museum and activities. We went to Silver Springs one day which is included in camp fee, check in and get your receipt before going over. It does not include glass bottom boat tour though. Restrooms and playground in park very clean. Staff was pleasant. Not far from restaurants and Walmart if supplies needed. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Cabin.

Silver Springs next door admission is $2 person free if camping. Glass bottom boat tour $11.95 person. Not much else to do there in winter. We hiked there one trail but didn't see the monkeys. Kayaking is available.

Very nice location. Huge site. Rangers/ staff keep all sites spiffy. Sewer on some sites. Portable dish may see out between the trees Antenna pretty useless. All restaurants/stores very close on RT 40. Short drive to spring to walk the grounds. Very very good ice cream at the concession. This is a really nice state park. Check in was easy and the staff friendly and helpful. Interior roads paved and easy to navigate. Our site was a pull through and was very long and wide and required only a little leveling.. Lots of space between sites with trees and brush for shade and some privacy. Each site cleaned by camp hosts before they let the next camper in. Restrooms were kept clean and though they are not airconditioned they do have ceiling fans. Water and electric well placed and no issues. Several OTA channels available. We would stay here again if in the area. Tips for other Campers:

While staying here be sure to go over to Silver Springs and go on the glass bottom boats. Also rent a kayak or canoe and do some exploring on the river. There is a small cafe with good burgers and sandwhiches and an ice cream shop inside Silver Springs. This is the old Florida adventure before Disney and Universal.

We were lucky to find this park on our way to southern Florida. The campground is about a mile from the road so there's no road noise. Sites were mostly level. Everything worked fine and interior roads were easy to navigate. Lots of trees but we were able to get a satellite signal. Good walking and biking trails. Nice quiet place. We would stay here again. Take a canoe or kayak trip at Silver Springs. We saw 5 alligators! The trails in the park are great for walking, okay for biking but they are all dirt/sand trails.

The Florida state parks are some of the best in the country. Most have a lot of trees and large sites. This is a two park system. The state took over the park on Route 50. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The glass bottom boat is a good value. The rv park is not the one on Route 50. It is west of the state park that is on 50. However they are both part of the same park system.

Very nice campground. Sites were all Spacious. Fire pits. Bbq grills. Graveled and most sites had fair amount of trees. Restrooms were very clean. Paved road and level sites. Only downfall I can mention is lack of swimming facilities. You aren't allowed to swim in the springs and there is not a swimming pool We will come back here but not during the summer months. Way to hot When my husband was riding his bike thru one of the trials he encountered a few monkeys. The big one started hissing and chasing him down. He got out of there and we told the rangers. They went looking for. the monkey Hopefully find it before someone gets hurt We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Travel Trailer.

What a wonderful, delightful hidden gem! We had site #36. It had water & electric (the utility hook-ups looked to be brand new!), but not sewer hook-up (typical for most FL state parks). There are a few that have sewer, they just weren't available when we were there. Dump station is convenient, easy in & out with 2 sewer areas available. There's also water to flush or clean up. Our site was level, wide, and deep with tightly packed gravel. Plenty of room to accommodate our 32ft. trailer and a large tent next to it, as well as 2 large vehicles. There was a picnic table, fire ring AND a separate free-standing grill. Lots and lots of room between sites with foliage/trees all around, making it very private and roomy. Restrooms/showers were clean and nice, an easy walk from most any site. The showers had good water pressure, lots of hot water and the door to the shower area even locks for privacy (instead of the usual curtain). Good cell phone signal for calls & internet (AT&T). Only about 6 channels over the antenna. Very pet friendly with several doggie poop bag stations around. There's hiking paths in the area too. The ranger station/check-in staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The actual entrance to the Springs park isn't far but it's on hwy 40 so you have to drive to it; entry is included with your camping fee. The camping fee is reasonable at approx $28.87 per night (3 nights=$72.00+$6.70 reserve fee+$7.92 tax= $86.62 total for 3 nights). I love this park and the campgrounds! We will definitely be back again and again. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You have to check out Silver Springs State Park! Do the famous glass bottom boat tour (only $11). It's worth it! You can kayak (bring your own or rent theirs) and enjoy the crystal clear waters and scenery in this lovely park. Take a walk around the beautiful grounds too. There's a gift shop, ice cream shop, and coffee shop there too. You can bring your dog on a leash to walk the grounds or in a kayak if your want; they just aren't allowed on the glass bottom boat tours. Outside the park, there's lots of restaurants and stores nearby. Just head west on Hwy 40 and you'll find the WalMart as well as lots of fast food and sit-down restaurants.

Entrance is not at Silver Springs State Park but at the campground entrance 1 1/2 miles south on rte 35. Sites are huge and spotless. The sewer connections far back, but more than enough room to position so it is not a problem. Quiet and peaceful. This the epitomy of camping and the price can't be beat. Not very many full hookup sites (12 out of 30) but nice when you can get one during a longer stay. Each site is very large, with lots of space between you and your neighbor. Being a dedicated campground, it is separate from the very busy day use area that has the kayak ramp and glass bottom boats at the headspring. Cuts down on the traffic, keeping it quiet and peaceful. Will return again, and again. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Massive (almost twice what you'd expect), level sites with privacy. Our site (48) was full hookups, but not all have sewer. Water and power both good. Hosts keep the place spotless! Pea gravel and good drainage round out great sites. Newer, very clean bath and showers with very hot water. Washer/dryer at the bath for $1 each, very convenient. Great cell and good OTA TV coverage, good for satellite folks as well. No wifi at campsites, but the nearby springs area with glass-bottom boats and snack shops has strong wifi. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Travel Trailer.

We loved Silver Spring State Park from the moment we arrived. Sites are spacious with pretty good privacy, the entire campground is filled with towering trees, and strangely enough, the campground had a wonderful oak/pine smell which we weren't expecting in Florida. We had no sewer at our site, but the bath house had very nice and extremely hot showers. Roads were wide and paved and we had no trouble with our 42' motorhome. There were some nice trails to walk our dog on. A mile or two away was the main park entrance where we rented a kayak and paddled the river looking at alligators, turtles, birds, and fish. Just past the main park entrance is a great 20-hole disc golf course (bring your own discs). Verizon and AT&T both worked well. We were able to receive mail and packages during our stay. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Restaurants and shopping are a short drive away, and we found a giant fenced dog park about 10-15 minutes away. We were sad to leave and wished we had booked two weeks instead of one! We're looking forward to returning in the future. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

We spent one night at this park. The signage was pretty bad and we ended up where the boat rides originate from. We called the park and were told this happens often. They are supposed to get better signs. We were directed a mile in the opposite direction. The sites, while quite nice, are NOT longer term rv friendly. The sewer is so far away from the electric that we couldn't hook up to it even though we are in a 35' rv. Most of the sites in our section are pull thru sites. All looked nice but the ones we saw all the same problem with sewer hookups. Setting this aside (which is difficult to do) the site was clean and had a nice picnic table and fire pit. The bathrooms are very clean. The laundry units are in good shape and only $1 per load to wash or dry. The park is about nine miles from I75 down busy but easily driveable roads. The interior roads are tight but not too bad. We might check elsewhere if we visited again strictly due to the inability to hook up to sewer. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Pretty park, large spaces, easy to get into, great little area next to RV to sit outside with fire. We did have to pull back at an angle to have our hose reach the sewer as it was rather far back. We did not get satellite because there is a scattering of trees around. Verizon signal was 2 bars. While camping here, our parking pass allows us free access into Silver Springs Amusement park, which has glass bottom boat rides. Not sure if they are free. We only stayed one night as we were passing through, but would love to have stayed longer. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.
