Overall Rating:

We've camped here many, many times on Battleship side and always enjoy our stay. Nice fairly level concrete sites and wonderful views site 1 - 11 are the best. Negatives - terrible entrance bumps (way too high), I lost my front bumper protector and noted it on the survey. The person in charge noted it was to protect the people crossing from one side to the other. Now people are going the wrong way to avoid the bumps. Speeding is an issue (I worry about children getting hurt). We had several issues with the person in charge when we finally had enough & complained about him, he finally got off our back, we have observed this was the case with several people. Customers should be given camp rules when checking-in as they seem to change continuously, however, the rules are posted in the laundry areas. We've been to many military sites which are much better organized. This is really a wonderful place to camp and would be so much nicer if the person in charge was more people friendly and enjoyed his job. Nice little store, kayaks, paddle boards, sailboats & lessons available to rent on-site. We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Loved this place! Host was fantastic, park was clean, quiet in the evenings. Sites are first come first serve once you have a reservation, so if you want a specific one, I recommend you get there early! We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

This has been a very good weekend camp. Reservations guarantees you a spot but they are first come first serve when you get there. It's a very clean campground. Beach area is very nice. I am 5'9" and I was able to walk about about 100 yards or maybe even a little more before it would be over my shoulders. No pets on the beach, however the campground is pet friendly. There is putt putt golf, frisbee golf, hiking trails and small play areas around for the kids. There is primitive tent camping, tent camping on wooden platforms, small wooden cabins, 30 amp hookups and 50 amp hookups all grouped together in their respective areas. The 30 amp area does not have septic hook-up but there is a dump station. There is also no Wi-Fi however we use Verizon and had a very good signal. We used our own grill to cook on. We noticed most people just used the site grill as a fire pit. The roads through the 30amp campground are dirt but in good shape. We could have stayed in what they call a "prime spot", spot number 6, but ended up in spot 19 and feel we made the best choice of the two. The camp welcome center employees and the camp host were all very nice people. Check-in is at 3pm but we were told we could check-in early. Check-out is at 11am. We will happily stay here again in the future. We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Park has 2 separate RV camping areas separated by an old concrete runway. Old area has 30A, sandy roads/sites with electric, water, fire rings/grill, tables and tree cover no sewer, modular toilet/shower combo building is available. The new section has 50A, paved roads, concrete pad, electric, sewer, water, fire rings/grill, tables, some sites have tree cover,, fixed building with laundry ($1 wash and dry), vending, wash sink, shower/toilet. Care of the showers/toilets is spotty and can use improvement. Out on the main road a left turn takes you to a nearby Alabama gas/diesel station and steak house, a right takes you to a Winn Dixie, fast food and the NEX/commissary. There is a large lot for secure long term storage. Rentals for sailboat, catamaran, kayak, paddle board. We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed a week's stay in the Anchor Cove section of the park, site 48, which provided a sense of being in a lightly wooded glade. It was serene and picturesque (see photo, one of the best from our 6 week trip), although a bit more like "camping" than the Battleship Row section of the park. Our pull-through site was unpaved and offered no sewer hookups as in Battleship Row, but our site was very spacious and had an awesome fire pit! Someone came through the park occasionally with a trailer loaded with wood to purchase. The bathhouse was cleaned every morning and had plenty of hot water. Dump stations are available. Arriving after dark was a bit challenging due to the trees in the park and the leaves covering the unpaved "street" looked exactly like the unpaved sites. What a nice surprise to wake up to such a beautiful site! The only negatives for this park, no wifi, sewer at site would be nice, no laundry facility in Anchor Cove, a level concrete pad would be nice, no cable, only 30 amp available on our site (some sites offer 50 amp). We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed here several times and really enjoy the campground. The campground is located about 2 miles off the highway so it is very quiet. We stay in Battleship Row which has full hookups. No cable but our satellite worked great. We had a back-in site on the front row facing the water. Sites are spacious, concrete, level and shaded. Lots of room to ride you bike or walk the dog. Stores and restaurants are a short drive away. Marina and a mini golf are on site. We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The Battleship Row side of Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area is a wonderful RV park. We would stay there over and over again. We were there 3 months from December to March. The sites are far enough apart that you have plenty of elbow room - don't feel crowded at all. Each site is a concrete pad and very level. All roads are paved and in excellent condition. The grassy areas are kept up and I never saw any trash around. Even though there is a 90 day limit, none of the sites look like people have taken up homesteading. Its a great place for daily walks and bike riding. There is a paintball place behind the park and also a frisby golf course. All utilities worked perfectly. The host was really friendly and helpful and the location on Perdido Beach is very scenic. Our only complaints were there is no wifi - none at all. The location is out of the way. It's about 10 to 15 miles from the most popular things like Walmart, restaurants, etc. The 2 mile road (Bronson Rd) off of Hwy 98 is rough going and after awhile it gets on your nerves. There is no clubhouse for pot lucks or get-togethers. Now, if wasn't for those 4 things, this park would be perfect! We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots of family stuff to do: natural trails, biking, swimming, kayaks and sailboats for rent (unless you have your own), basketball court, volleyball, discus golf, paintball, and even a putt putt course! Has two camping areas: Battleship Row (concrete sites with FHU) and Anchor Cove (lots of trees, dirt sites, electric, water, and dump station)! Great view of Pedido Bay and fantastic sunsets! Close to Gulf Islands National Seashore! Not far from downtown Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, Fort Pickens National Park, and more! This facility is hands-down the best and most relaxing campground I've ever been. For $15 a night w/water and electric, it's really hard to beat. Staff are very professional. I'm definitely keeping this site in my book. Bathrooms are kept absolutely clean. Hot water shower is the best. We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Tent Trailer.

This is a military campground. There are two campgrounds on site. We have stayed at both campgrounds. Anchor Cove is more rustic with 30A electric, water and dump station. The road and sites are sand/gravel. Not big rig friendly but I made it with 36' travel trailer. The restrooms are clean but older. Some sites look out over Perdido Bay. Battleship Row has full hookups and paved sites. Big rig friendly with some pull thru sites. Mixture of sunny and shaded sites. Modern restrooms and laundry facilities. Even the front row sites are 100 yards from the bay. Battleship Row is in high demand (particularly during the winter and summer) so book early. Still no wifi at either campground yet. We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

This is really two campgrounds. Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area is several square miles in size with a primitive area, hiking trails, boat ramp, paintball area and two campgrounds that are a mile apart. One is called Anchor Cove and the other is called Battleship Row. Many of the reviews apply to Battleship Row, which has 75 huge concrete pads, full hookups and wonderful amenities. Anchor Cove is a much more primitive area with 83 dirt pads, water and electricity. Battleship Row has two laundry facilities; Anchor Cove has none (they will tell you it is okay to use a laundry facility a mile away in another part of the park). Reservations can be made for either, so be sure which you have a reservation for if you book in advance. Battleship Row is a wonderful facility and it fills up fast. There is no Wifi anywhere; they said a contract is working its way though the government purchasing system to hire a contractor to construct a new system for the park. We camped at Blue Angel Naval Recreation Area (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Cub's Crawfish has good food and it is close by. Warning; it is little more than a shack with a few picnic tables. I don't eat crawfish, but loved the boiled shrimp and red beans and rice. If you get tired of burgers, it is a great place to pick up some take out.

We stayed in the Battleship Row area of this beautiful park. Sites were level with full hookup for 30 and 50 amp service. Several sites had water views while others were more sheltered in the trees. Bathrooms, laundry and shower areas were clean and conveniently located. There are a marina, two beaches, and 2 picnic pavilions on site. The recreation areas had a small playground and a miniature golf course. There are 2 disc golf courses within the park. Tips for other Campers:

This park is not located on the Naval Air Station. The base itself is worth a visit. Pensacola Lighthouse and a Military Aircraft Museum are both Open to the public. Also on base are Fort Barrancas which is part of the Gulf Island National Seashore.

You can see the Blue Angels practicing in the Spring.

Nearby are Pensacola Beach, Perdio Key and Fort Pickens.
