Dec 2019 - $47.00
I would not recommend this park. I gave a $100 deposit to hold a site, which they kept because I didn't give them a 10 day notice before canceling. I was told I would get a good site for my 43 ft. Fifth wheel. The first site I was shown was very tight, half gravel half dirt (with big tire ruts) and had an enclosed pad (3 sided) attached to it, I guess from the previous renter, I doubt I could have opened my slide. The next site was all mud with big tire ruts again, was told I could put one set of tire on the broken concrete pad and other in the mud. The 3rd site was right next to a building in the back about 100' from the river and sloped towards the river. I told them none of the sites were acceptable and wanted my $100 deposit back I was told because I didn't give a 10 day notice I would get no refund. I was told later by some locals that this park was originally a 31 site park and the new owners, a year ago, have increased it to 45 sites. The park is so tight I don't think I could have even got my camper in there. - dcarter466

First, this is not a destination park. We chose this park mainly to be near family and because all of the parks in St. Augustine were full or out of our price range. Very reasonably priced at $420 a month which includes electricity. There are very few amenities and only one or two activities the whole time we were there. Very low water pressure. Most of the residents live in the park full-time but for the most part everyone takes care of their site. Management folks are very nice and accommodating who will go out of their way to help you anyway they can. There are restrooms but we never used them. That didn't bother us as we always use our own facilities anyway. The park is right on the St. Johns River so even though we got temperatures in the area fell below freezing a few nights, we never had a problem with hoses or pipes freezing. Since we were parked under a large tree we had acorns, leaves and small limbs falling on the roof and slide awnings which we had to clean off every couple of weeks. The roads are dirt both coming in and inside the park so there was dust when folks drove fast. All parking sites are on dirt/grass as well. In addition to cable TV, the park has the best WiFi signal we have ever seen in an RV park. The owner has nine repeaters located throughout the park that provides the strong signal. We were able to get a DTV signal with our roof-mounted dish in Site 17 but not all sites provide as clear shot to the southern sky. Our Verizon cell phones had 4 bars of LTE signals. The owner likes to get folks to stay for several months. If you are traveling through the area that could present a problem. - StarlifterFE

Jun 2015 - $32.00
Very few RV spots and they could be difficult to get into as road is narrow. Seemed to be a lot of either full timers or people that keep their sites for weekends/summer. We were there for 3 nights during the week. It was quiet and all of the residents were nice. Friday afternoon lots of people came in for the weekend. Pool was great! They also had boat docks and boats for rent. Restrooms were clean and showers appeared to be new. Office did have some supplies like ice, beer and maybe wine and a few t-shirts/hats, etc. The only complaint we would have is that we were very close to the entrance road and people would come through and stir up dust. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will probably be back. But, if you are coming for lots to do, this isn't the place unless you fish, kayak or just want to relax, which is what we like. - Lindaosm
Mar 2013 - $27.00
This place is an enigma. When we arrived on Saturday, the office was closed. We had reservations, so we found our site, the only empty one here. It was a bit rough and unlevel, but it worked. None of the help was around until we got settled. They were surprised that ANY site was open... the owner included. It's very quiet with a nice pool. It's about an hour's drive into St. Augustine, the reason we were here. Folks, as in Florida in general, are very friendly. Not much to see in the town and no hiking trails nearby, but we liked it. - Red Wolf Deux
Aug 2011 - $28.00
Spent the weekend about an hour a little south of Jacksonville in a town named Welaka. It has 1 stop light and 1 gas station with a few places to eat. It looks like it is a town of about 500 or so folks. I went there for some fishing in and around the St Johns River. I stayed a little campground lodge by the name of Welaka Lodge and Resort. There are 4 nice looking cabins for rent, there are about 5 RV sites that do not have RV’s parked in them, some are work campers, there is a nice small swimming pool, and on Sundays they have a big party at the dock. Friday and Saturday evening most folks head to a place called “Shrimp R Us” that has live bands and some good food and drink. It is an easy walk from the campground. The owners of the campground are friendly and stay busy keeping the place up. There is no cable or TV reception so plan ahead if you go there. There is no late night parting that I seen as everyone disappeared at about 730PM each night and were not seen again until mid-morning. There are 2 cons about staying there besides the cable; the first is the “BLIND BUGS” 500 millions of them per square yard and they land on everything, get into everything and are a real pain to even walk through. They get side the camper faster than you can open and close the door and you spend along time killing them, really nasty tiny bugs. The second is you cannot launch your boat or kayak for the lodge; yes, they have a nice dock, but no boat ramps. Next door is a fishing camp that has a ramp but ….also has 100 million of the “BLIND BUGS” that make it impossible to even put the boat/kayak in the water as they get in your ears, eyes and mouth and all over everything including you and anything you have, to include getting in your vehicle. There is a public boat ramp down the street about 2 blocks (they only have about 5 million bugs there) that is one of the steepest I have ever seen about 60 degrees and 150 yards long. Then you have to find a place to park up on top the hill. There was 1 bait shop in town but it has gone under so bring your own bait or use artificial lures. The shrimp was running in that part of the river so the fishing was really slow I talked to no one that had caught anything the whole week. The fish were so full of free shrimp that they couldn’t move. In the evening the wind comes blowing through with such force that even using a 3 spike anchor you still drift. Would I go to Welaka for a weekend or fishing again? I cannot think of any reason to return. - jaxfl

About the Swamp! Water was out in the park for eleven days, no toilets, showers, laundry. Zero help, zero answers from management, they went into hiding. Zero compensation, zero apology for their incompetence. Park has been flooded most of the summer. Everyday it rains, it's a swamp. WiFi is a hit and miss event, out as much as in. I would advise you to avoid San Mateo [swamp] Estates. - oneunhappycamper
Mar 2018 - $35.00
I have been here 2 months, only 31 sites. Fairly close to St. Augustine. There are 14 semi full time, meaning 6 months or less. 5 full times approx. New owners as of Last March 2017. Poor communication to tenants, meaning when I arrived I wan't told to boil water, but received a notice boil can stop 3 days later. They changed cable system with out any notice. They raised laundry 50% with out any notice over wknd. Horrible 911 system, had to call for ambulance for neighbor, and they couldn't find place. Woman died. Google directs you to Grave yard up the road. Beautiful, quiet area, sort of out in the boonies. Manager very nice, but communication problem to tenants. I suggested group text of change, only 31 sites! It floods horrible when it rains. No drainage. Also if you have extra trailer or boat, can't park on your site and charge storage fee in their lot. - Colleen Callahan

Um, an "adventure." Roads into/out of here are really awful, especially in a rainstorm. Sites are bare ground--no gravel, no pavement. Staff was friendly enough, but we didn't receive any printed campground info, so we don't know what all is available and it's pouring and sort of scary outside, so we're not exploring much. The plus side is that it's less than 1/2 mile from where we're getting service on our Sprinter chassis at the nearby Dodge dealership in the morning. That's why we're here. We're planning to leave in the morning by the entrance, since the exit road looked impassable to us. (Pickup trucks could do it, but not our little Class C--too many ruts!) It is pretty quiet here, except for the mosquitoes buzzing. - JCLC

This area is somewhat remote, but on the St. Johns River. Sites are level, wide, with good power and water pressure. Spaces between sites green grass & clean. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Tiki bar & restaurant on site. - Field Trip
Aug 2018 - $54.00
Great place right on the St. Johns River. This campground/marina/tiki bar/restaurant are only 4 years old and family run. All the sites are brick pavers and grass between sites. There is very little shade, as the only trees are high queen palms. Small campground with some cabins to rent as well and a pool. Great if you don't have a car, there is a large restaurant with an outdoor deck and a large Tiki Bar with full bar and entertainment. There is a full marina wit boat rentals and more. Hard to be bored here. Close to Lake George, other than fishing and relaxing, it is a bit removed. Office is located at the rear of the property, hard to find and didn't know if we could drive the rig there, so double parked up front and walked to office. They need to mark better for unfamiliar visitors. - TBWard
May 2017 - $45.00
Appealing place. Clean. Easy hookups to use. Pavers at sites with lawn between. Restaurant looks nice, but it's closed mon and tue, so we haven't been able to eat there. Nice bar on the river. Good value at $45. - ArtD

This is a great but remote state park. Plenty of campsite space, very well run, newer rest rooms kept very clean, level sites on gravel. Get a site in the 40-50s along the Great Barge Canal for a wonderful Florida experience and fishing. Palatka is about 20 miles away, nice old town on the St John river. - dicke
Mar 2019 - $14.00
The campsites are hodge podge at best. One campsite had 2 Class As on it. Constantly see campsite workers running thru sites in golf carts but not doing anything. Was not pleased with this campground. Some campsite have the tables sloping at 15-25 degrees. I would pass up this campground. Not worth the cost compared to other campsites. - Hoth
Feb 2019 - $23.00
Rodman Campground is great park for fisherman with boats. The St John's River canal and lake are easily reachable from the park launch site. Our site was in the Phase 1 section, and was a bit too much like commercial parks for the site spacing, but it wasn't real bad. The Phase 2 section has better spacing between sites. The 30 amp electric and water locations were convenient for hooking up. The dump station near the check in office is easy to use, but oddly, it has two lanes and only one dump port. Our Verizon cell service was very poor here, but our AT&T service was surprisingly strong given the remoteness of the location, so our hotspot gave us solid Internet service and VOIP phone service. We would stay here again if the location fit our schedule, although we'd prefer a Phase 2 site next time. - NYDutch

This is under new ownership so keep that in mind. The new owners are aggressively working the site and changing it, making improvements so the issues I lay out will more than likely be corrected, but keep them in mind when calling/inquiring. Some things to ask about. When you pull in the park there are some pretty good potholes to the left and right of driveway so be careful. You have to park out front and oddly walk through the gate to the office, strange setup. Once in the park, the roads are VERY narrow and super duper bumpy, go slow. Trees are leaning and you really need to be careful not to rub against a large tree, although we made it through fine. We parked in the back of the park in the brand new paved pad with the brick paver sitting area and built in barbeque, the site was nice. The lower sites though are pretty muddy, especially towards the front. Swam in the nice new pool, the hot tub is just a regular top level hot tub, too small actually. Propane is available if they are there but we saved some money by going to local Ace Hardware. We saw a bobcat carrying a rabbit one evening, so....haha. Was amazing. The staff is fantastic, very open to discuss anything so I would rate it much higher if had better internet and less mud. Some shady units in there that look like they have been there for decades, but is amazingly quiet and good people overall. This place will be a five star when completed. Tortoise on site too! - HonestFamilyReviews

Feb 2018 - $30.00
I stayed here for the month of February. Compared to other campgrounds, this one was reasonably priced. Electric is extra. This is an old campground, so don't expect frills or extras. Yes, they have long term people who live here. Yes, some sites are not the best, but I wasn't here for top rate, I was here to relax. What I liked is everyone was nice, friendly and helpful. It was peaceful no loud music or screaming kids or barking dogs, (and there were a lot of dogs). It was safe, (solo traveler). I see a lot of negative reviews, but again for me, it was just right. I don't watch TV, but heard cable was not the best and they are honest when they say there is WiFi, but it's not good at all.(which it isn't). I had no problem with power, water or sewer. All worked. Again don't expect the best, it's an old campground. Just relax and enjoy and leave judgement at the entrance. - HoPInn
Feb 2018 - $33.00
A lot of permanent residents, very close pads, close to main road with lots of semi's all day and night, no picnic tables, no fire pit, no grill, pool says heated but closed. If you're a hunter or Fisherman you would probably be ok, just bring EVERYTHING. We won't be back. Sure looked and sounded better on the internet. - cindyloowho
Jan 2018 - $19.00
I do not like to post negative comments, but I feel compelled to warn others about this park. It's marked "big rig" friendly, but I dispute that. There was no way we could get our 39' 5th into a site. I did see one or two nicer motorhomes there. Don't ask me how, or more importantly why, they chose to stay. The park is a somewhat hilly, jumbled mismatch of site layouts. I saw wet, tire-gutted grass in sites as we drove through. Nothing appeared even remotely level to me. Despite it being later in the afternoon, raining, and our not knowing where else we could go, I preferred to take a chance on the unknown rather than stay here. Also, this campground is nothing like the one in Ovid, New York. While that Sned Acres is a no-frills cg, it is well easy to maneuver and well-managed. Complete opposite in Florida. - Milo&Millie
