We had free nights from our RV Dealer, so we used 3 here for our first trip. Check-in was easy, very, very nice man assisted us. We were assigned to site N-21, a standard site with 50 amp service. All grass (grass a little long) and a picnic table. Seemed OK till we realized that were were surrounded by Park Models and no other Motorhomes. Some full time residents behind us walked through our site and had their dog off leash and didn't pick-up after it. They were partiers. The next day we were allowed to move to the W Section where there were a few motorhomes and TT's that seemed like they had been there for a long time. No real interaction with the campers, they seemd put off by a motorhome that was only going to be there a few nights. The campground was clean, but I would say 90% are Park Models, if this had been high season, the place would have been packed. - TBWard

Girl at desk on Feb 10 at 1pm was eating her lunch while we were waiting in line for another rep. When she was done eating she took care of us with an attitude like we were a bother to her. The other rep was being nice to the people. This place is gated so you have to enter code to enter. Laundry and restrooms are locked and you need code to enter (I don't know why those are locked when you have to know code to enter past gate at entrance.) You need to buy a card for $3.00 to do laundry. Then you have to pay $3.00 to put money on card to wash or dry clothes (1.50 each). About 85% permanents here. Most are nice. But several were junky. Many, many trees providing shade. Park is next to river. They have a nice picnic area there. No cable TV but got several TV channels over the air. They do a lot of activities here. I liked that this resort was away from city traffic but not too far away. - RonH999

The Rambler's Rest RV Resort is located about 4-miles south of I-75, at exit 191 (River Road) on I-75. The park entrance will be on the east side of River Road (left turn if coming from I-75). The entrance comes up on you fairly fast. Our GPS took us right to the gate. After turning into the entrance immediately veer to your right into a large parking lot used for registration. The office is located on the other side of the main road across from the registration lot. Rambler's Rest is part of the Encore/Thousand Trails chain. In general, the resort looks good and seems genuinely cared for but some of the seasonal sites look run-down. I didn't see any concrete pads and our site (W-138) was mostly grass over a small patch of old gravel with full hookups. The park does not offer cable TV but we were able to bring in some local over-the-air channels. If you want to use your satellite dish ask for a spot in the "newer" W-section. Most of those sites will have a clear view of the sky for either roof mounted or portable dishes. The trade off will be little shade. And it gets hot in September. The park is pet friendly and the roads are easily navigable even for big rigs like ours. I had to laugh when I tried the WiFi it offered us complimentary 10-minutes of use before asking us to pay. We opted to use our Verizon hotspot instead. River Road can be busy but we heard absolutely no road noise, just the occasional airplane going over. Site spacing is about average, maybe a bit above. But beware if it rains hard as the ground will become saturated fairly easily. Jack pads are a must. This was our first time at Rambler's Rest and as we were visiting family during the day we didn't have an opportunity to check out the amenities at the resort. We may stay here again. - rk911

Nov 2018 - $1.00
The pictures here make it look like a mobile home/park model park, but there are LOTS of RVs coming and going all the time on the WIDE paved streets! The lots are level and well drained, and really large for the most part. Grass, or paved. Management is new and VERY improved! The activities are many and varied, lots and lots to do in the park, and outside the park, including harbor, river, intercoastal waterway, and the gulf, all within a short distance. Accessible by boat or land vehicle, Training camps, shopping, dining and bike trails are close by too. Harbor Lakes is VERY close to the bird sanctuary and the birds can't tell where it ends so they come here to fish, bathe, and spend time! - Journey On
Apr 2017 - $40.00
First up, would I stay here again.. absolutely. The rate reflects the price for a week long stay. Convenient to the training sports park for the Tampa bay Rays and local amenities. 50 amp service, pet friendly, good WIFI coverage from both Verizon and the paid provider. We had just purchased our motor home and this was our first RV park location. We lived in the area and picked this park based on location and the ability to get set up in our new home. The park has excellent WIFI coverage from Verizon and 5 meg download speeds from the JABBA wifi provider which is a little pricey. No free WIFI is available at the site but free WIFI is available in the club house. The very professional & friendly staff is excellent and the park is well maintained with the streets in pretty good shape for the most part. Nice and wide for large rigs and few, if any, bad spots. The site is considered grass but most of the grass has worn away from heavy use which leaves mostly sand and dirt that is easily tracked into the coach even with an outdoor rug to mitigate for the lack of a pad. However, the site is very spacious and very well maintained with rock solid 50 amp electric and the water pressures were very good. There are a lot of permanent modular homes in this park but it is still a quiet and very safe location. No garbage pick up at the site, you have to take your garbage to a central location near the entrance. The garbage drop off site is large and it's not difficult to use with plenty of space to turn around in. Overall, this is a great park for the most part and would have received 5 stars in every category if the site had a concrete pad and garbage pick up had been provided. The price was a little high for being in April and charged as peak season which should have ended at the end of March when most snowbirds head North but that seems to be standard for Florida's west coast parks. We stayed 2 weeks. - Denny C
Mar 2017 - $69.00
This was an acceptable park, especially since our choices were limited in the Fort Meyers area due to availability in the peak season. We had a standard back in site, dirt with concrete picnic table pad. Getting in was somewhat tricky due to the narrow distance between the power pole and keeping the door side wheels off the concrete pad to assure being level, as well as a caution not to back the trailer wheels over the buried water lines near the rear of the site. Mostly park models in our area of the park. The staff was friendly and professional. There seemed to be plenty of activities for long term residents, mainly snowbirds. The pool always seemed crowded and there were pickle ball and tennis games played at courts across from us each night. This area is not as flashy as the resort areas further south on both the Gulf and Atlantic Florida coasts, but not bad. There are plenty of eating and shopping options not far away. - one_strange_texan

Stayed here for two nights - back in site on the middle loop. Fast and friendly check-in. In middle loop. Had to bring our 45ft coach around the opposite way to be able to back in our site due to two large trees in front of our site. Luckily, it was raining and beginning of off season. FHU and easy to get around the campground. Easy to get on and off I-75. - RVThatFamily
Jun 2017 - $30.00
The park has many things to do at nice facilties. But the sites are subpar. Nothing but dirt, soft sand and weeds. Part of the facility is for park models only. Park models and very long term campers and mixed with available sites. The staff picks up large items of trash, but do not get the little things left at the sites. Some of the activities are: a wonderful swimming pool, 4 tennis courts, miniature golf, putting green, free canoes, Internet in a clubhouse, horseshoes, and others. - Hhtjr
Aug 2016 - $20.00
We have been coming to this park since 1976 and have watched it evolve from a great RV park to a permanent park mpdel community. There are not a lot of rv sites. Of those, most good sites are annuals. The remaining are grass and in times of heavy rains the outer loop road neat Shacket Creek will flood. Sites are slow to drain. Tall pines limit satellite reception. The staff is excellent as is the large pool. Recent develope of the area has brought major stores within 2 miles. We used RPI rate for $20. Seasonal rates are quite expensive, comparable the suster Encore park of Ramblers Rest at approx. $4800 + elec for 4 months. - venice

Dec 2018 - $27.00
Price reflects monthly rate. We stayed here because family was nearby, convenient for that. Luckily we had a site that was towards the back, off the main road. Concrete pads are nice but parking our motorhome on the grass for a month, we sunk in quite a bit. Nice level site, friendly people. Easy in and out and interior roads easy to navigate. Fitness center was an added bonus and lots of activities at the club house, very active community. Only downside is spaces are pretty close together, but it's to be expected in an urban RV resort. Home Depot, Publix Grocery, Walmart, Walgreens, etc., are all conveniently nearby. - Roaming Together
Jan 2018 - $1.00
We were here as a 'guest' of Thousand Trails. You'll need a long sewer hose. Many of the sites have semi-permanent residents, but there was also a nice number of temporary sites. We stayed 4 nights. - Bastion
Nov 2017 - $10.00
Convenient location just a few miles off I-75. New cement patio at site. Office, pool, clubhouse, etc all like new and in beautiful condition. Lots of well cared for trees and shrubs all throughout the beautiful park. On canal. Nice area to have a group campfire. Adjacent road is busy however it does quiet down at night. - Todd Fogelberg

First of all, call to get all the details about wifi and cable. Deceptive advertising is becoming rampant! 2nd, we were pre-assigned a site, but when we went to it, it was already occupied. They gave us, at no extra cost, a "premium" riverside site @ no extra charge..........."Thule Marsh" side is more appropriate. I had to spray ant hills, the water connection leaked a steady stream, every general rule in their pamphlet was broken by most, if not all permanent residents. Wifi is available, at extra cost, and somehow, they screwed it up 2 straight days, to where it was out 2 hrs one afternoon and out all night, from 5pm until we left the next morning! The cable TV is also an extra charge, but OTA is just fine! The managers don't seem to know what is going on, and are never available. Tried to call, but the phone was on answering machine, every time! Suggestion.............Go somewhere else!!! - Dennis H

This park is small which makes for a homey and cozy environment. The club house, screened deck and pool were nice and made for casual community socializing. The sites were comfortable and the views of the river pretty. - The Ellis Family

Owing to its state park-like appeal, the place is lovely and I'd give it a 10 because we love coming here, spending time with friends/family, and being on the river where we enjoy kayaking and the beautiful view. Positives: 1) The retreat is nestled in next to a gorgeous river and in sort of old-growth forest area. Many have dinghies and kayaks to take advantage of the access to water and more beautiful scenery. 2) Venice is a wonderful area with plenty of recreation, events, nearby golfing, close beach access, and shopping. 3) The retreat is next to a VERY popular restaurant that has constant entertainment that locals enjoy. 4) The hosts and volunteers at the retreat put on events like a rib cookout and appreciation dinner while we were here two wks. 5) Most people are yearly repeats and sites are neat and tidy--no "trailer trash." 6) Wonderful clean swimming pool. Shuffle board. Paths thru woods. Fishing. 7) Very nice tent/small camper area! 8) Pet friendly. 9) Boat launch is very good and accommodating. Improvement potential: Beautiful and desirable as it is, there are things that could be improved. 1) Not only is the main road to the retreat really dusty, but is full of huge potholes, but the campground roads are dust/gravel and the resulting dust inside the camper was impossible to keep up with! Barely room for two vehicles to pass, let alone two campers. 2) The hosts will NOT trim trees and for us that meant that the neighbor was several feet into our campsite and our awning if fully deployed would touch theirs, and our door opened facing their sewer a couple meters away. No place for table. The overlap was unavoidable. Most sites aren't so tight, though many are small. We wanted a river access site which are most popular. Take what you get. We'd do same next time. You're paying for the location and access to everything Venice has to offer. 3) Small but up-to-date laundry. Only one small table for folding. - HollyLouise
Feb 2015 - $68.00
It's a Retreat, not a Resort. If you're comfortable boondocking, you won't give the entry road a second thought. (Keep to the middle of the road - there are some thick low hanging branches on the right side.) If you are a person who isn't happy without a paved road and a concrete pad, I'd recommend moving on down the road. Once you're in, the grounds are *amazing*. Tons of old growth, nature trails along the Myakka river, it's quite lovely - though it borders on being *outrageously* expensive. (Worth it to me, because it was the last place that had room for the weekend...) - YarrVee.com

If you like rustic, this is better than a 5. That being said, it was hard for us to get passed the dust and ruts in the narrow 3/4 mile drive into the campground. And, be extremely aware of overhanging tree branches. The poor fellow who camped next to us lost his awning. The sites are somewhat small and just grass, but mostly level. The restroom/showers are adequate. We found the staff good natured and helpful. - manarkee

Beautiful park with plenty of nature to enjoy. Ample sized lots, paver sites, making it clean and easy. Staff was helpful. Follow driving instructions provided by the resort staff, rather than GPS, to avoid roads that are not easily accessed by big rigs. Great walking trails and pier on river to enjoy sunsets and wildlife. Won't disappoint! - WILL2ROAM
May 2017 - $108.00
This is an extremely well maintained class A Resort. Staff was helpful and friendly at check in, and escorted us to our site. The interior roads are paved and wide, so big rig access is good. Our pull in site was very spacious, plenty of space for our towed, but there was little privacy between sites, and no shade trees. Patio furniture was the absolute bare minimum, which we found surprising at a Resort of this caliber. Our level pad was lovely brick pavers, and it was very quiet and peaceful both day and night. We had a river front site, well worth the extra money, as we had a truly wonderful view of the lovely Myakka River through our front windshield. The spotless bathrooms and laundry are located in the clubhouse, along with a fitness center. A pool, spa, pickle ball and tennis courts are located behind the clubhouse. There is a security gate 24/7 which we appreciated. Very pet friendly with a fenced dog run and plenty of pick up bags and disposal stations located around the Resort. Wifi and AT&T were both good. We would stay here again. - tobyjug
Jan 2016 - $47.00
Price reflects monthly rate for December 2015 for a front-in site facing out towards the river walk and river. We additionally paid $248 for electricity for the month. Class A only resort with superb amenities and activities. Owners live on site and are very hands on and cordial. There is a security gate and large dog run. Streets are paved with concrete sidewalks and brick sites. Some sites are privately owned with casitas. Park is fairly convenient to shopping and restaurants. We would definitely return. - BigRigTravelerUSA

As previously stated, very clean and convenient but located amid residential and business area. In general, what is here is very nice but focused on the ~150 park model residents, rather than the 20 RV sites. No pool, no pets (sound like a Roger Miller song?) but almost nightly game/card nights and in and out of park activities. As is usual, not a lot of mixing between permanent and RV residents. This area in general is more costly than similar or higher grade facilities in AZ. - OK Chandler
Feb 2011 - $30.00
We found this place looking through our Camp Club USA book. While it's mostly a mobile home park, they have sites set aside for RV's at the front of the park next to the street. That said, I was surprised that traffic noise wasn't a problem for us. I'm not 100% certain but I don't think they allow pets so if you're a pet owner, call ahead. Finding someone in the office can sometimes be a bit of a challenge but if you're just looking for an affordable no-frills place to park your RV in Venice, this place just might fit the bill. Of all the towns in Florida we have been to, Venice is the cleanest town we've seen. One day while driving the five miles to the beach to hunt for fossilized sharks teeth, I counted ten pieces of litter -- nothing big, candy wrappers, etc. It's a tidy town of tidy homes and Florida Pines Park is no exception. If it is possible to be too clean, this park may have found that level. I felt like a slob when I kicked my flip flops off like I always do next to the steps before going into our RV. Driving around the park, there is very little ornamentation outside the mobiles. You won't find a lot of tiki lights and stuff cluttered around RV's and mobiles here. Venice is a lovely town of really friendly people who will actually let you out in traffic. Smoking and dogs weren't allowed on any of the beaches we visited. Speaking of beaches, they are beautiful. Some of them are a little rocky but still lovely. The first time you reach down and pick up a whole fossilized sharks tooth, you will remember that feeling for a long time. The ocean is a gorgeous turquoise and watching the dolphins from the wharf was perfect. All in all, Venice is one of my favorite towns. If you're tired of litter and stepping on dog "bombs" left on beaches by lazy owners, Venice could be one of your favorite towns as well. - Travelfish

We were lucky to get two nights available as we were making last minute plans heading south. So glad we finally got to visit this park! Trees and bushes provide privacy between sites. Lots of gators, rosette spoonbill, ibis and other birds. Nice gravel level site. Lots of space to drive or hike around. Enjoyed the view from the top of the tower on the canopy walk - treetops in every direction as far as you can see, without any man-made obstructions, is a rare thing in Florida. We would stay here again. - Roaming Together
Oct 2018 - $16.00
Attractive campground with wild flowers and shrubs between sites. Unfortunately our experience was disappointing because of a problem with the water purification system. We understand problems but although the staff was aware, they did not inform campers. After two days, we finally asked. Wildlife viewing, places to walk, ride bikes, and drive. - lce3
Sep 2018 - $26.00
There are 3 campgrounds in this park, I stayed at the Big Flats campground , which is only a 5 minute walk to Kayak/canoe/bicycle rental and the park restaurant and boat ramp. Lots of wildlife, plenty of alligators , raccoons, turkeys , birds, birds and more birds, deer and wild hogs, which they aggressively trap. Miles of hiking trails both in shade and in sun, flat lands and hammocks and a " canopy walk ". Had a little issue with their 30 amp receptacle making contact with my plug in, poor design on the electrical box, at least that's my opinion. Sewer not at this site, dump station on the way out of the park. Fresh, drinking water hookup was available on this site. " I will be back" Lots more to explore. I hiked and kayak at this park. - Cdr Bob
