Small camping area, about 30 total sites. There's a separate horse camp. The park itself is huge with several hiking trails ranging from less than a mile to 8+ miles. Located on the beautiful Little Manatee River, there are canoes and kayaks for rent for a modest price and the river is an easy paddle with lots of wildlife (turtles, gators, wading birds, etc..). We saw several deer on the hiking trails. The campsites are well maintained, mostly fully shaded, all with fire rings and picnic tables and afford good privacy. The main shower house is down for rehab but the portable was clean, well maintained with abundant hot water. Stick to Nov-March, as with any Florida Park, summer bugs can be brutal We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

Bath house closed and cramped not well-cleaned trailer is the substitute. Plenty of hot water but you need to keep pushing the button to keep the water flowing. No laundry as that was part of the closed bath house. A notice at the trailer stated that they are awaiting contractor bids for construction of a new bath house. Sites are close but most are separated by vegetation for visual privacy. Lots of trees but we still managed good Dish TV reception. The river is shallow and narrow but still ok for kayaking. Main activity here is hiking the many trails. Generally the park needs some upgrading and better maintenance as things are getting rundown. On the positive side we had to leave a day early to meet a commitment at home and were given a days refund without asking for one. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night because it was close to family we were visiting. Friendly people, smaller park, a couple corners were a little tight with other campers and their trucks sticking out in the road. But it was manageable. Trees and bushes provide privacy between sites. Very quiet here, it's set way off the road. We saw lots of deer. Very level site, gravel/sand. We would stay here again. I don't understand how the reviewers say that this park is big rig friendly. The trees over the roadways and sites are so low, that I broke my spotlight just getting from the ranger station to the site. Once at the site, it was plenty long enough, but the undergrowth had not been trimmed in a long long time. The site was so over grown that I could not put my slides out, without trimming back some of this undergrowth. The limbs and vines hanging down over the entrance to the site, made it a real challenge to get into the site. The sites are dirt, the roadways are paved, but are pretty narrow. It rained almost everyday we were there, and the sites drain fairly well, but you will have mud holes for awhile after the rain stops. The campground itself, seems to be pretty nice, if they would trim up the roadways and sites. The bath house was close while we were there, and the temporary shower / restrooms offered no heated water for a shower, so we opted not to use them. They were clean, but small and the water will only stay on for a few seconds before cutting off. I do not plan to return to this campground, unless they clean up this park.

Don't come here if you are in a 38 or larger motor home that requires a high clearance. My motor home requires 13 1/2 foot clearance, that you do not have here. In some sites and the roadways in to the campground, there are a lot of limbs hanging down at the 11 1/2 to 12 1/2 foot level, so be prepared to get your motor home scratched and banged up. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

Roads are paved and easy for big rigs. Sites are sand and dirt with good growth between sites. Our site was sunny with good satellite viewing. Electric was 20, 30 and 50 amps. T-mobile was weak but worked with booster. Kayaking was very good with a good launch site. The launch area is a good walk from the parking area. Hand carts are available to pull kayak down to launch area. Some of the hiking trails were sandy so were hard to walk. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 10 days and absolutely love this park; we already have reservations for next year. The work campers are friendly and helpful. They host a coffee hour (with sweets) each Wednesday morning, which is a nice way to exchange information with other campers. Each site is very private because of vegetation in between sites. The regular bathhouse is closed due to termite infestation. The temporary bathhouse was just as convenient and always clean. There are two washers and dryers and the cost is $1.75 for each. Lots of over the air stations that come in well. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for two days on our way to South Florida as we have done many times before. Park is well maintained, has friendly staff and is very quiet. Our site was of ample size to accomadate our motorhome and tow vehicle. It was a back in site with mostly snd and some grass. No cable but good over the air tv reception. Our Verizon worked well. We hope to continue coming here for a long time. Roads are paved and easy navigation. Good water pressure and good electric. We will be back. Tips for other Campers:

There is a Wal-Mart a few miles away and a good many restaurants. We used the Wal-Mart to pick up a few supplies. If there during Christmas time, the Masons have a very nice light show just a few miles from park. Easy place to get to and easy to get back on I-75.

Stayed here for 5 nights, and we will definitely be returning! Our site was well separated from the neighboring sites, and there was no site directly across the road from us, making it one of the most private sites we've had in some time. The water and electric hookups were well placed, but there are no sites with sewer hookups here. The dump station is nearby and well laid out though. The walking trails are well marked, but some have lots of loose sand, making walking difficult. Our Dish satellite service worked well, and our Verizon and AT&T voice and data signals were strong. The sites are very sandy, and that could be a problem if it's rainy. There are a number of restaurants and stores within easy driving distance. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Little Manatee River for a second visit in a couple of years. The park is very quiet and typical of a FL state park with sandy sites and brush, palms and pines between sites for privacy. Each site includes a picnic table and a fire ring with grill. The bath house is old, but clean and is convenient in the middle of the campsites. There is also a laundry shed with two washers and two dryers ($1.75 each for use) which are in good shape and worked well. The park also includes an equestrian center/campground, playground, day use area, kayak launch area and nature trail. It is an easy drive from I-75 convenient to a Publix market, Walmart, and a few restaurants. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The staff at the office were very helpful & friendly. Almost all of the sites are very sandy, which is a mess when it rains. Sites are smaller and heavily wooded with a fair amount of shade. It was cool when we stayed, but still pretty buggy. The campground roadway is paved. Each site has a picnic table, grill (ours was partially rusted out )& a fire ring. Restrooms were dated & fairly clean, except the shower curtains were very moldy & are a cheap item to replace. If you enjoy activity, look elsewhere. If just being at your campsite is enough for you, this will work. There are 3 paved handicap sites. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Stayed over a three day weekend. Campground is an easy drive from Interstate 75. Four horse sites are there for horse trailers separate from the other 30 sites. One bathhouse sits in the center of the circle, 2 washers and dryers located by the bathhouse. Fire rings at each site along with tables. Most spots were shady and privacy between sites was nice. Only 2 handicap paved sites available next to bathhouse. Clean, close to town of Wimauma, restaurants, Walmart, Grocery Stores. River runs right next to campground but is a small river at the park area. Very quiet and no noise at all. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.

We arrived at the park at 5:10. The office closes at 5, but fortunately there happened to be someone still there closing up. They gave us our choice of sites for the night. Mosquitos were horrible, but this is Florida. Sites were small but adequate. We chose one of several paved (handicapped) sites next to the restroom and with some minor difficulties was able to back into the site. We stayed here just one night on our way to the Keys and I cancelled the reservations I had at the park for our return. It is a basic state park relatively close to the Tampa area. If that is what you're looking for then it might be a good choice, but I doubt that we will return. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice, quiet state park. Campsites have good screening for privacy. There is an older but clean bath house. Long walk from the campground to the kayak launch so it's best to rent from the nearby canoe rental / haul back firm. The main hiking trail is also far at about a 3 mile drive to trail head. Good Verizon signal. Will return. We camped at Little Manatee River State Park in a Motorhome.
