We really love this campground. We stayed there a week in November two years ago, and 5 nights this year. Registration is easy and the staff is friendly and helpful. After checking in, we detached and then had our propane tank filled up by a friendly and knowledgeable campground employee. Roads are good and easily navigable. Our gravel back-in site # 145 was level and the utilities were fine. WiFi was slightly above average. Our premium site had a deck and barbecue. These premium sites are near the entrance, so the roads in that part of the park were fine. Our site had a clear view to all three Dish satellites. No enclosed dog park but plenty of places to walk the pups. I thought $65 per night was fair, plus there's a one-time $20 entrance fee. The entrance gate is scary narrow for motorhomes. Daily trash pickup at the site was a nice perk. - mtmsf

Beautiful park setting. Not a bad site. Great exploring and hiking. Lots to do with the kids too. - Nonna Rose
Oct 2019 - $59.00
Big rig friendly with level sites. Cost $20.00 to get into park before entering campground. Showers, cable, and Wi-Fi was good. No problem with our satellite. No dog park but several grassy areas to walk dog. - Fulltimersrv

The lady at the front desk was very accommodating and helpful. Full hook ups are good, water pressure is very high so you need a regulator which they have in the office. Most sites are back-in, a few pull thru. The entrance to the campground is not obvious...small sign which is not lit at night. Call for specific directions. Very quiet, peaceful campground. - Teb
Jan 2019 - $38.00
Stayed a month in this RV park. The office staff was very kind and provided clear directions on how to maneuver the park roads to my site. The site was level and had an elevated patio which was perfect for my RV. The patio was old and had broken concrete but it was very good to have when it rained. The park is quiet despite being close to a major roadway. Wi-Fi - very good signal T-Mobile - 4 of 4 bars. Electric - no issues Water - no issues Sewer - no issues Satellite - no issues. - Peter G

Close to Stone Mountain and Atlanta! Quiet, spacious sites, (not much shade). Friendly professional staff. This former trailer park is primarily an RV Park now with nice level sites, quality utilities (high water pressure-bring a regulator), - dbcnc

We parked our motorhome here for 4 nights while we stayed with our family in Atlanta. We have been full-time RVers for 2+ years and this ranks near the bottom of our ratings. There was little to no grass around our site, close together, but not really trash around. There were a number of dog poops though - the residents don't seem to think they need to pick up after their dogs! Location was a little sketchy but there's really not much other choice. I would consider for an overnight stay or two but definitely would not want to be here very long. - Honey-Poppy
Apr 2019 - $35.00
A close stay for seeing Atlanta. Stayed here for 5 nights. The good: Good power; Bathrooms get a B- The bad: No cable and poor over the air channels. Had to use Satellite to get good service; Wi-Fi very spotty, used Mi-Fi a lot. - AvalonDF41
Jan 2019 - $35.00
This park is a great place for an overnight stay or to stay while seeing the sights in Atlanta. The park has two sections, one ofr longtime residents and one for short stays. The short stay is near the entrance, very well kept up, easy to navigate, and all pull thrus, long enougth for our 40' motorhome with toad attached. Sites were close together, but each sight is wide enough for easy in and out. All sites were gravel/dirt. Ours was level and the others all seemed to be level as well. - Lou Ellen

The road going into the park was under construction, so it is a good idea to get specific directions. This park truly loves speed bumps, they are every where. I was a little surprised that there were only two dumpsters but the nice thing was they were emptied Monday, Wednesday and Friday about mid afternoon. The park itself was kept very clean and all of the staff were friendly. - witchey1
Aug 2019 - $37.00
We didn't use the restrooms or other amenities but the place is clean, neat, not shady where we stayed but pretty quiet and orderly. The check-in process was speedy and easy. One note about getting here: as is the case with most of Atlanta, the roads are under construction and it's a bit confusing getting here, especially if you arrive at night as we did. There are not many places to stay close-in to Atlanta so these guys *could* neglect things and probably have a brisk business; but they don't. We'll come back here if we need to stay around the south side of town again. - Jim Tadlock
Aug 2019 - $37.00
Nicely kept campground. Paved roads, gravel sites with small grass area between sites. It was a bit tight to maneuver out with the towed so had to unhook. Utilities worked fine and had no issues. Good water pressure. Sites fairly level, and were able to use auto levelers. Easy on off I75. A lot of speed bumps and road to campground was a bit rough. Unable to get satellite signal due to trees. Good Verizon signal. Did not use available wifi.
We would stay again - Vicki K

Disclaimer: I was in town for a family gathering and wanted to check out this park out so I stopped by. My first stop was the MWR office. The excellent value rating is the price. There are a lot of services available at this office, unfortunately, caring that there was an RV park on-site wasn't one of them. The young lady answered my questions but couldn't provide a map or brochure for the park. She also wouldn't take reservations either...call first before coming here! I got directions to the park and headed out. There is a sign at the entrance for new arrivals. Step 1, pick a spot. Step 2 check in at the office. Too bad there aren't any empty spots. One possible spot had somebody's car in it. Very heavy tree cover throughout. The road is narrow and trees are close. Every occupied spot had evidence of long-term occupation; semi-permanent steps, PVC poo pipes, fences and in one case a lawn! Yep, a honest-to-goodness real grass lawn! To his credit he had a sign for the "FAMCAMP spot of the month"!! I think that since this is a reserve base the rules may be different as far as long term/permanent party occupation of the FAMCAMP. I don't think we'll stop here. Good Luck! - CGRetired

I agree with the other camper who said not to bother. We have camped at several military campgrounds and have always had a good experience. This is an exception to those other campgrounds. First we called the office number numerous times on different days and got a recording, left messages for call back and nothing. 3 hours before we arrived we called the office# and finally a woman answered and said there were 5 open sites. We arrived to find one site taped off with yellow caution tape, another site with a van parked off to the side in the woods but no vehicle on the pad. We pulled out and parked in parking area in front of the office hut and husband called base security to ask if it was OK to dry camp for the night. He was told to go to a building and check in which he did but guy in office had no idea why he was told that! Husband came back and drove back into campground to look at the site where van was parked and another camper told him the owner takes his rig out and is gone for days meaning site is not paid for but discourages someone from using it. We paid and used the site for the night. The remaining sites were occupied by long term people but not all workers. 1 retiree had been there since October so 2 week rule not in-forced. Another site had a 35' motorhome, 30' tow trailer, the truck to haul the trailer and 3 cars. Another site had a portable garage frame with tarp setup in front of the trailer. I would dry camp in a Walmart parking lot before returning here. - petpeople
Dec 2012 - $12.00
Nice park with several sites available but the bathrooms, specifically the men's was atrocious. One toilet was severely messed up and wasn't cleaned for two days! The women's was fine and I had no problem. A few sites were 50' long and nicely separated from your neighbor. Quiet and nice park. There is a little bar that is busy during the week. Our neighbor, Jeff, who is responsible in some fashion there, was extremely helpful when we were concerned about getting to the dump station in the morning - someone was parked there and he made sure they moved. The biggest issue we had was on our departure GATE 2 (which is the only RV accessible gate) is closed on the weekends, which we did not know!! Luckily for us the security spotted us heading for the exit and flagged us down to wait while he brought someone up to open up the gate for us. So it all worked out fine, but if you're planning on arriving or leaving on the weekend you should call first to find out the proper procedure. We camped here in a motorhome. - Bill & Debby's Wild Ride

Aug 2018 - $46.00
We made an overnight stop here on our way to Indiana. This park is conveniently located north of Atlanta in the Marietta/Kennesaw area. Lots of shopping/restaurants nearby. It is an older park that could use some updates - the asphalt park roads are pretty cracked and uneven in areas from the trees, and the buildings are showing their age some. I will say they have a nice, air conditioned bathroom setup with two toilet and shower combination rooms - shower suites - which are kept pretty clean. The showers have a "rainfall" shower head in an extra large, tiled shower area. The shower suites are located in the same air conditioned building as the laundromat, next to the office. Our site was slightly sloping to the front, as the whole park is situated in a hilly area. Even though the sites are rather close together, it was pretty easy to get in and out of our site. It was a good overnight stop, overall. - Maga04
May 2018 - $54.00
Parked our 5th here for overflow family visiting from out of town. According to them everything was fine and they had no issues of any kind. Was assigned Site 11 ( back in) which was mostly level. No issues with any hook ups. Couple of RV parked in there that looked abandon, at a minimum they need to be washed once a year. Overall appearance was O.K. but I think with some minor refurbish this would be an excellent place. Staff was very friendly. - Joelbjr

This is a very small back in park in the woods. Most spots are long term TT and fifth wheels. Ok for a quick overnight. Not much walking area for dogs. No fenced in dog park. - KMK

This place should be burned to the ground. It's beyond words how bad the infrastructure is. Many sites have power poles that are destroyed or worse, bare wire with electrical tape. The roads are narrow and pothole laden, and the water can range from normal to green slime coming from the water tap. The majority of the guests are monthly renters who have turned this place into a worse than trailer park situation. Avoid at all costs. - cjcoombs
Jun 2015 - $25.00
This is the most horrible park we have ever stayed at. We were wishing that we had just parked in a truck stop for the night. the site was horrible uneven We could not even put our slides out because we could not put down jacks as it was so uneven. They have only 30amp service . Tthis place has some potential but it needs a lot of work to get up to what people want in a RV park . - indian
Aug 2013 - $30.00
This place was beautiful on a lake with water side camp sites. It would be a solid 10 if they would install AC in the restrooms. Paved streets, paved sites, very clean. When it is 95 degrees outside, it is over 100 degrees in the restrooms. Just cool them down and this is a great park. I will be back. - aliner man

There appear to be nice sites here. Made reservation about 2:30 p.m. got the "last drive through site" - #26. (We pull a 35' 5th wheel). It's a miserable site where the RV steps open right up onto an internal road. WiFi weak and variable. The lady who manned the shop was very nice and helpful, so that wasn't any problem. For $50 a night - after Good Sam discount and a $1 discount after I noted the truly questionable site. it's truly the least value place we've been (Central Oregon to Marietta). If this site is the only on offer, skip it. - William Bolitho
Aug 2018 - $55.00
By far the worst experience of our whole trip, 2-night stay. One (1) single shower and rest room functional for 51 sites, muddy water, and when we left the site for a few hours the manager had given it to someone else. - AlfNew
Mar 2018 - $45.00
Definitely a mixed bag. Mostly long term, working folks with a few transient spots. Nice clean new showers and laundry. Sites are a little tight and there is a surplus of mud when it rains. But is is very peaceful and quiet at night (except for train whistles in the distance). Tucked into a residential area with narrow but navigable streets to get in and out. Call for reservations - don't bother with the web site form, it won't be answered. Friendly staff though when you call. Quite expensive for what you get but supply is quite limit near Atlanta. We stayed 3 nights. - MNroadie

ADMIN NOTE (February 2017): It has been reported that this park is now only open to event participants.
NOTE (October 2015): THE RENOVATIONS PLANNED FOR THE SUMMER OF 2015 DID NOT OCCUR, BUT ARE NOW UNDERWAY. THIS PARK WILL NOT BE OPEN AGAIN UNTIL EARLY 2016. - ramblin' vagabonds

April 9, 2015 ADMIN NOTE: The manager of this park has reported to us that the facility (Jim R. Miller Park) is undergoing MAJOR renovations and will not have RV Sites available until AFTER SEPTEMBER 2015.
We were at this park for 16 nights. The rate is $15.00 per night for 1 night or 16- very reasonable. The staff is very helpful. It's one of the Georgia State Fairgrounds, but the campground is separate from the Fairgrounds. It can be quite busy with many police related facilities in the area. There is a police shooting range nearby that can be heard at times. The fairgrounds is also used for many police and ambulance related practices and training. In most cases you would never know it's going on. - dthurk
Aug 2014 - $15.00
Giving this an extra point for being so affordable. One set of restrooms was locked and leaking water under the door. The other wasn't very clean and the trash hadn't been emptied in awhile. Not much to do, BUT it's quiet (if there are no events), pleasant, spacious and HUs work well. Only 1/2 mile to Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield National Park and as convenient to Atlanta as anything else we could find. Enter through Gate 1. Stayed several days and will definitely be back. . - TheRollingJones

This RV park has a very bad practice to ask anyone who want to stay more than a week to provide social security number, driver license number, date of birth, credit card number and bank account information to conduct a "background check" with additional $40. This is the first ever RV park we encountered to request such a detailed list of your personal information! I can understand the need for background check for real long timers but for a short stay, no way! Avoid this park. - hotpepper
Apr 2018 - $13.00
The park is very old and needs major updating. The roads are bad, 1/2 of the homesteaders' trailers are in real bad condition with canvas covers over them. A lot of them need a wash real bad. There are pot holes on every corner. No one follows the rules. There are a lot of stray cats around park. Could not get any one in charge to deal with them!!! There are junk piles in front and along side of a lot of trailers. Some homesteaders let their dogs poop any where and don't pick up after them, they just let them out, no leash and they go where ever. Some of the C section pads are missing concrete in the middle row so they are not usable. Water pressure was hit and miss, some times of the day there was no pressure. - USAF
