This would be a quiet stay if you are willing to put up with the owner who is in the wrong business. When we called for a reservation for the night, we were told, quote "We do not want overnighters, there is a minimum 3 night stay, if you are planning on staying overnight don't come down our road as you will have to turn around". All this was said in a very unpleasant manner. This is an adult only park with no bath house and no amenities. There are so many more choices in this beautiful area of Georgia. - lkthaler

This is a very basic option and is intended for use by people with some association to Toccoa Falls College (parents of students, visitors, family and friends of college staff, etc). To book a site you have to call the college business office and pay by credit card over the phone. We stayed a couple of weeks over Christmas and New Years and were the only ones there. There are about 10 sites, all on a large gravel parking area. If the lot was full it would be a pretty tight fit. The gravel lot is backed by tall bamboo and is very near Toccoa Creek which is very nice to hear at night. When school is out, as it was when we were there, it is very quiet and private. I imagine it would be a lot busier when school is in session. There are no bathrooms/showers for campers. There are full hookups. - JPen365
Jun 2006 - $20.00
Great park for passing through. Can see the beautiful Toccoa Falls while on campus. Campground is located on the southeast end of a beautiful 1100-acre wooded campus. Sights are all gravel and level. Not much to look at, but the on-campus scenery is nice. Just call the college and make a reservation; pay at the guard-shack. We loved it! - dandagreer

Small park with mostly pull-thru sites for short timers. Long term residents are in a separate back-in section. Few full hook up sites but owners are undergoing improvements (adding sewer to more sites and adding another row of full hook up sites). Excellent wifi and we were able to position our rig to receive satellite. Sites are dirt covered with pine straw. Park is on a lovely creek with several small decks, and is fairly quiet. Easy access off road. We will return next month on our return north. - lovinretirement
Jan 2018 - $20.00
Easy in, easy out. Water connection is in a box below ground, so might be a little PITA for some people. Utilities worked well. Park wifi is fine for email and Facebook. Very few OTA channels. Sites are wide. Many long term residents. The few I spoke with were friendly. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Provided suggestions for dining. Nice big field (open, unfenced) to run the dogs, just remember to pick up after them. Would stay here again. - TH travelers

We camped here attending a Forest River Rally. The staff is awesome. Very friendly and even helped with setting things up. There is a community campfire in front of the campground, beautiful pool, laundry and a huge pavilion. We were on site 28 which is fairly level and has morning shade. Water, sewer and 30 amp electric are very short runs. The only reason we did not rate a 10 is because there is very little cell, television and wifi service. However, there is wifi at the office and a nice room for tv and games. If you have a tent there is a beautiful tent area along the creek. We are looking forward to coming back next year. - wduff
Nov 2017 - $1.00
This park is ideally located to visit the many waterfalls and autumn colors of Northern GA. The roads and sites are gravel, just a bit our of level. Plenty of room to park our pickup beside the fifth wheel. Plenty of trees. - Tom-MNAK
Oct 2017 - $28.00
It was an exceptionally cold winter and the bathhouses and Clubhouse were not heated properly. Sporadic clean restrooms had a horrible sight and they would not move us even though other sites were available did not warn people to wrap their pipes and most have frozen water lines. Our front right wheel was 18 inch off the ground after leveling. No one seems to want to address the problems. The best thing about this place is the employee who operates the clubhouse. - Msbunny1414

If you are a light sleeper do not stay here. Road noise is bad. The campground is right beside a busy road. We stayed at site 40, sites are close together not big sites. Only one bathhouse but kept very clean. Going to bathhouse you have to climb a hill early mornings wet with dew could be slippery. - Harry Gordon
Oct 2018 - $33.00
Very hilly. Extremely steep hill down to access all sites. I scraped my front jacks descending. Our site was a challenge for leveling. Had to raise one side and lower front to lowest possible level. Some travel trailers nearly had their hitches on the ground to level. I dread the climb out. The wi-fi was excellent. No cable tv and very limited antenna reception since campground is in a hole with mountains surrounding. If we return to this area, we will probably look for a nicer campground. - Rsunde

This is an excellent RV Park. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The grounds are extremely well maintained. I was to stay for 2 weeks but enjoyed the park and area so much that I stayed for 4 weeks. - Papa Frank

If your interested in just a place to park, this campground might work. One thing is for sure, there wasn't any kind of customer service when we were there. The office is only open Thursday through Saturday. The sign said to go to the manager's trailer to check in but there wasn't anyone there either. There was power, water, and sewer hook ups and the site was level. From the looks of this campground it was built in the 50's and hasn't been updated since then. Don't waste your time here! - ranier1315

Check in was easy. Nice mountain view. Very well maintained. Grass was cut, bushes trimmed. No trash laying around. Restrooms stocked well. Overall very neat appearance. Hiking trails and beach were great. No problem pulling in or out of spot. Close to town. I would stay again. - Josh-Paimemi-mone

Open Season: May 1-November 2. This is a National Forest Campground - but it has water and electric hookups. Campground has 53 sites with just water and 32 sites with water and electric. No reservations but we have NEVER had a problem getting a good site; the campground is off the beaten path and a hidden gem. The campsites are well spaced, quiet and heavily wooded. There is great hiking and a beach within the park. Plus it's a short drive to Tallulah Gorge, Lake Burton and many other sites in North Georgia. If you are pulling a big trailer, 5th wheel or motorhome DO NOT enter the campground along Old 441/Terrora Rd. This is a VERY NARROW twisty road. Instead come in via Burton Dam Road from Highway 197 and you'll have no problems. There are two entrances to the campground off Lake Rabun Road - if you want hookups take the 2nd entrance - but DON'T miss it - there is nowhere to turn a rig around past that entrance and then you're into that narrow twisty road. - Buddy Ray

Manager escorted us to the site. Very clean, well kept, many permanent residents but very nice area. Manager very talkative (beware he may be hard to get to leave) but very helpful. Somewhat shady gravel and level sites. Near Helen GA which is a wonderful place to check out. So much to do and see Plus many wine tasting rooms! I would gladly stay here again. Oh, they provide fire rings and wood if needed also have a nice patio to sit out on if you have time. - Gloria S.
Jul 2018 - $25.00
This park is very conveniently located near Helen, GA (about 6 miles to town) and about 3 miles past Unicoi State Park. There are full hook ups and WiFi/ cable at each site. The bath house is clean but definitely dated. The toilets are private only behind shower curtains. The owners live on site and are readily available if needed. He is very helpful and VERY friendly (would stop by for a 20 minute chat every time we were outside). We took several day trips to Black Rock Mountain State Park and Moccassin Creek State Park from this location (all within 35 miles from here). - Dutchlady

We happened upon this hidden gem while looking for a short-term rental for ourselves and little chihuahua. When we arrived, the owner met us and welcomed us as if he'd known us forever. Nearly four years later, we can honestly say we will call Cherokee Campgrounds our home from now on. We enjoy the peaceful setting, the abundant wildlife and hospitable owners & neighbors. There are several other appealing qualities as well: great wi-fi, cable tv, communal dumpster, firepits (firewood offered as well), fireworks provided by the owner several times a year, a playground for the kids, large pavilion, and social hall. Since it is a campground, we also have the luxury of meeting new friends all year round. - Charles-Tami-Pixie-and-Cash

From the moment you roll in to Creekwood you get the feeling that you are visiting family. The owner will email you when they are open. She called for an ETA and when we arrived, she was out of the office to meet us. The owner directed my husband into the very long spot better than anyone! Definitely let her assist. She knows what she is doing! The camp WiFi password makes you feel warm all over. I can't tell you what it is, I guess you will have to go there to find out. But it's something your mom would say to you when you arrived home after a long trip! Even though it is located next to the road, we were downhill from it and it was not a bother. The graveled patio was very spacious and clean. The fire ring was stone, not a rusted tire rim like so many. Owner's advice of what to do and where to eat is excellent. Take notes. I know it sounds like I must be related, but I honestly just met her! She answers every question and truly takes care of you while you are there! Thanks to the owners for a very wonderful stay. You made us feel very welcome. - Islandcpa

If you want to find a quiet oasis in the North Georgia Mountains, you must visit Creekwood Campground. We usually camp in state parks and was reluctant to stay at a private campground, I was extremely surprised with this gem of a campground. We lucked out by having Unicoi State Park booked solid on veterans day weekend. After driving thru Unicoi State Park Campground to compare the 2 camp grounds, Creekwood is excellent and Unicoi is a good campground. Creekwood has paved, level sites, with a picnic table on a nice pad of rocks, and a large grassy area with a fire pit. There is plenty of space between each campsite, and towering trees for great shade. They also had cable tv with over 80+ channels. The WiFi was the BEST ever in a campground. If you are ever in the Helen GA area or the North GA Mountains you should Call Creekwood Campground to see if they have any space available. You will not regret it! - On the Road Again with Dave and Christie
Jun 2017 - $44.00
Creekwood is truly superb RV Park. It is a small park with only 17 sites. Aesthetically, beautiful and towering hardwoods provide a canopy of shade to all sites, and provide for a magnificent, relaxing and tranquil setting. The owners live on-site and are two of the nicest and most accommodating RV park owners I have ever encountered. They each take immense pride in their respective roles. He is in a perpetual state of maintaining the grounds to immaculate standards. You will not find one shred of trash anywhere. He is also very knowledgeable about fly-fishing the area for trout (which is primarily why I was here). She takes perfect care of reservations and concierge. She knows the area well and can provide you with an accurate itinerary of things to do, dining options, etc.
And by the way, despite what others may have said in past reviews, she is an absolute expert in helping you back into your site. Put your ego aside, listen to her and follow her directions because she knows what she's doing.
All hook-ups worked perfectly and without fail, including cable television. And unlike most RV parks I visit, the Wifi signal at Creekwood was fantastic. The showers and restrooms were conveniently located and perfectly maintained.
While here, I visited other RV Parks in the area and can state without equivocation that Creekwood is, in my opinion, hands down, the best! These owners do everything within their power to make the campground and your RV site the perfect home away from home during your stay. Simply put, you cannot go wrong with Creekwood. - Sjcjr

State Campground - very peaceful. Sites are all gravel but level. All roads are paved and well maintained. This is in the forest so all sites are very shady. A small stream runs nearby offering a very nice water running sound to lull you to sleep at night. Fire Rings are provided, restrooms clean and well maintained. Late arrivals check in at the Lodge. Super nice people working there. Elec (50 amp) and water only, no sewer but nearby dump station is available. - Eric & Michelle Newton

Unicoi State Park is just outside of Helen, with quite a few hiking trails and ziplines, did some hiking and noticed some of the park is in need of minor repairs. Good sites a little close to neighbors. - Jan Gemeinhardt

Campground was clean and quiet. The front desk was helpful with directions. If you have to check in late , you have to check in at the lodge which is just past the entry to the campground coming from Helen Ga. We plan to stay there again if we are in the area. - CAMPING01
