This campground is run by the county and is very busy. Sites are small and close and there is a huge snowbird group that camps here in the winter with some reservations 3 years in advance. We love this campground and island for the bike trails, historic district, GA Sea Turtle center, birds, hiking trails etc. It is just a beautiful place to camp. There is a golf course, a number of new hotels, water park, shops and of course the beaches. They have just opened up three new public beaches since we were here last with parking & facilities and the bike trail running through them along the sea. A new convention center, soccer complex and fishing docks. There is only one gas station on the island, some restaurants and a Dairy Queen. Stop at the visitor center before you cross the bridge to get to the island and buy your pass (it's confusing). We ended up with a daily pass for $10 for an RV. Make sure you have all the supplies you need. If we were ever going to snowbird during the winter this would be the place. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The most outstanding quality of this campground is the friendliness of the staff, particularly the boss. PROS: Decent Cable TV (SD only), fair WI-FI, consistent 50-A power, wide sites, lots of bid live oak trees for shade, lots to do and see nearby, nice clubhouse for our group's use, no dog poop on the ground anywhere in park (at least that I saw) CONS: Roads are a bit narrow and tight, lots of sand to track into your rig so you'll be sweeping every day All in all, this is a beautiful, well-maintained bit of history. At one time. the original ultra-wealthy who owned this island represented 1/6 of the entire world's wealth (Rockefeller, Morgan, Gould, etc). You can take a tram tour of these "cottages" (actually very large, expensive winter homes) and even enter some of them. Jekyll Island also has a stunning driftwood beach, which is not actual driftwood but rather mostly huge trees killed through erosion over the years. Some are standing, most are not, but it is a striking place to walk. I do not want to make this review all about the island, but, for RVers, this campground is a wonderful place to stay while exploring, shopping, golfing, touring, eating, or doing whatever you please. NOTE: The campground just paved a bunch of its roads in preparation for opening a whole new section. Unfortunately, they had to cut down a bunch of tall pine trees to make room so the new sites will not be shady like the older part of the park. Our site was not very long but plenty wide, so parking of towed was a breeze. Take your camera. You'll want lots of pictures. When you enter the campground, pull up to STOP sign as directed to. Do NOT stop in front of the office or you'll block the whole driveway (we saw several clueless campers do this). We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park with excellent camping sites for a motorhome. The trees covered with moss is an excellent setting in a very nice part of Georgia. Nice place to spend time. The island is beautiful and the history is very interesting. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This a very nice campground on a very nice island. Our site #E-6 was reasonably level with a little maneuvering. All utilities worked well. Water pressure was good, water tasted clean and fresh. Electric was stable with good voltage. Sewer port was clean and accessible. Cable TV was not bad although I'm getting spoiled by High Def. Satellite reception would be difficult in most spaces here as the majority of the campground is wooded, providing some welcome shade. WiFi was surprisingly good, and Verizon signal strong. Campground hosts were friendly and helpful. When the wind is still the biting gnats are a problem. I would recommend bringing along some sort of screened enclosure if you expect to sit outside. It is low country Georgia after all. Nice place to visit as there is much to do. Bring a bicycle! We will definitely return. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This was a very nice campground and we enjoyed our 4-night stay. The sites were a little close, but with the posts they installed, you know your boundaries and don't cross the line. It was a little cold during our stay so we didn't have issues with mosquitos, but during our quest for the glass globes, we had numerous ticks on our clothing. You can easily tell that this campground caters to snowbirds who were all very friendly. We were even invited to several of their events including a super bowl party. I like that they had recycling and numerous "poop bag" stations throughout the park. They do fill quickly, so make your reservations early. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed for 2 weeks thru Christmas as we have done for many years. Paved main road is a nice addition as it keeps dust down. Lots of cg host to help with any problems that might arise and very fast about it. Office staff is exceptional. Internet is spotty in places and useless in others. After talking with manager there are several things and updates in the works. Place is getting more popular and harder to get reservations. Still all in all one of our favorite places. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We spent almost a week here, and we were hardly ever in the park. For the first few days, we had the park pretty much to ourselves, with only the hosts (and there were MANY), our friends (2 sites over), and a few others. But, come Thursday, the rigs & tenters started rolling in. And they brought a ton of squabbling kids, each with a bicycle, and lots of loud radios and huge industrial fans that seemed to run 24 hrs a day to keep the no see 'ems at bay. The park staff seemed to enjoy riding their golf carts around the park, but I didn't really witness any productivity, other than the occasional raking around the fire pits. The employees (volunteers?) that came out to repair our cable connection was helpful and efficient, tho, not to mention, really quick to respond. The trees have been trimmed pretty well, as compared to our last visit, about 10 years ago. While the main road into the campground is paved, most of the loop roads are dirt, therefore, dusty. They were all pretty narrow, snaking around the mature trees, so you do have to be careful about getting to your site. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You really must take the trolley tour of old downtown. It allows entry into at least 2 of the "cottages" and the guides are knowledgeable and friendly. The beaches here are spectacular, but do be mindful of the tides. They come in fast and high. Our site was one of the largest in the park, allowing us to park our toad onsite and provided a nice, but limited, view of the water and large suspension bridge across the way.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here in late July 2018. Temps were in the high 80s but humidity not too bad. It was pleasant enough. We stayed in site F-17 with friends in site F-18 . These two sites worked well for our purposes. The sites had good space in front of them but limited in depth. We were in the interior loop and other sites behind would put the back door neighbors right up close. Next time I'd reserve one of the pull through sites on the outer edge of the CG on the side away from the camp store. We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and the park was about half full. By the weekend it got full and, although the sites were ok on size, the roads were narrow which made the CG seem tight . The hosts were very friendly and informative and the store was well stocked. Fishing pier and beach were nearby, the drift wood beach was closest but more for sight seeing. For swimming, drive down to great dunes park which is just a short drive. We had a great time on the island and would come to this park again. More for the island than for the CG , but it's an adequate place to stay while you're there. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The campers are pretty well packed in and some appear to be long timers that should attempt to pick up. Our site was a back end and we have a nice size lot although the ones in the front of park we're almost on top of each other. The camp store had a decent amount of supplies and of course souvenirs. The staff was helpful and friendly but getting into the campground at check in was slow. Campers were lined up to the highway. Since the temperature stayed in the low 90's it was definitely nice to have the large oak trees. We didn't bother with the satellite but between the camps cable and my YouTube TV it was suffice! The WiFi is ok and cell phone reception we as good (Verizon). I would like to come back in the fall/winter to play golf and do the bike trails. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

The good-this is on Jekyll Island and is the only RV park there, so can't beat the location. WiFi is adequate to good. Site wasn't cramped and access was easy. Beautiful canopy of trees over the park. Quiet. The bad-roads were slightly rutted and muddy. Sites don't really have any surface other than dirt. Not level, but easy to level. Showers inexcusable. Mixed reviews, some campers look like they live there and need to clean up their site. Lots of returning snowbirds, we were lucky to get one night. If your looking for longer than one night the park has a lot of activities going on. We had to disconnect in order to get our trailer level but not a big deal. Nice park on one of Georgia's "Golden Isles". We came down for "Merry Shrimpmas" Jekyll Island usually has a Shrimp and Grits Festival in September, but Hurricane Irma had other plans. The Jekyll Island Authority decide to do a mash-up with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and we said, " we like grits, we love shrimp... so, Merry Shrimpmas." The park is very convenient on a very small island. The interior roads are a little tight but thankfully with the "5 MPH" Speed Limit you can navigate effectively. This is a nice campground. Our only problem was getting into our spot. It was tight and we had to go the wrong way on the road to get in. Once we did, the spot was good. The campground has a nice little store. Some groceries. Beaches on the island are very clean and nice. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Skip going to Tortuga Jacks. The food was not good and pricey. There is a fee to get onto the island, $6.00 each time so figure out if you think you will be going on and off the island as there is a longer pass. We bought the $6 pass but went off the island a second time.

We stayed at this park for five nights. This is a campground, not an RV park with amenities. It is a flat, heavily wooded area where trees have been removed to make interior roads and RV sites. Utilities were put in, a couple of bathhouses were built and that's about it. Not many plants except the trees and not much privacy. All sites are back-in and campground hosts will help you park. The entire park is dirt that is covered with a thin layer of leaves and pine needles. The trees are pretty and there is lots of shade which was nice because it was hot when we were there. Hookups and cable TV were fine. The park is a little dirty and buggy. It is still worth a stay. It is the only venue on Jekyll Island, which is a wonderful destination. A number of great beaches with good parking, extensive biking and walking trails that cover the whole island and tours of the beautiful and interesting historical district. Development has been controlled and this Island is much more peaceful than its neighbors. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed from Christmas thru New years as we have been doing for a few years now. We love this park and the people that run it. It is a great park for relaxing and bike riding and sight seeing. Some people give it bad reviews because of leaves and dirt. I don't know what else they expect to find in south Ga. but this is not your high end resort type of place. Its nice, quite and relaxing. I guess to sum it up. The island has a lot to entertain you and a lot near by as well. If your looking for a camping experience there is none better. If you want a 5 star yuppie resort go else where or stay at the big hotel. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
