Our experience was that Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park campground was huge, very reasonably priced, had spacious campsites - many with views of the lake, was well-maintained, and offered lots of all-age activities (e.g., Frisbee golf course, covered picnic pavilions, beaches, children's playgrounds, climate controlled pavilion with a view of the beach and lake, full-service marina, and a lake-view restaurant.). Not all campsites were BIG RIG friendly, but park staff were available to offer advice on pros and cons of individual sites. We visited in early March, so gnats, ants, and mosquitoes were not a problem. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park is very pretty with lots of trees. The open spaces are heavily used by frisbee golfers but they weren't bothersome. We stayed four nights while attending an event in Macon. Our site #37 was so uneven that with jacks completely out, we were not completely level. Some other sites were similarly uneven, but most appeared to be much better. Sites 40-45 have concrete pads with sewers, are fairly close together, have lake view and 7-night limit, and are $25. The rest are roomier, have no sewers, and have asphalt pads. On sites with sewer, the sewer and cable are on the wrong side of the site, so be prepared to work be inventive to get set up. This is pointed out on the map that they hand out. The park is close to some restaurants, lots of fast-food places, and some shopping (Kroger, Walgreens, Lowes, etc.) Overall the place was lightly populated and quiet. Cable worked reasonably well. We considered it an excellent value for the low price. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is an excellent casual restaurant in walking distance - the Fish and Pig. They have genuine grouper served in several different ways, plus shrimp, scallops, and barbecue. Prices are reasonable, but they are closed on Sunday. The Margaritas restaurant on Zebulon was quite good.

Pretty setting, second time to use this campground. Lake is lovely. Fun watching people play Frisbee disc golf, especially when they landed their frisbee in the water and had to retrieve it. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Spent 2 nights here on our way south. At this time of year, the park is lightly used, mostly by transients like us. We walked the interior roads of the park and had no traffic to contend with. The park facilities (pavilions, restrooms, entrance station, etc.) appear to date from the 1970s when the park was created. They are formed from one or more hexagonal modules with spaces between the poured concrete pillars filled in where exterior walls are needed. The roofs appear to be concrete, as well. It is worth walking through the park to see how this was done. Sites 40 - 45 have level concrete pads and are reserved for RVs with a 7 day limit. Many of the other sites have substantial front to back slopes that make leveling a motor home difficult. While the sites are on the side of the hill so that most have lake views, a unit on 45 blocks the lake view for 44 and a similar blockage occurs in the 40 - 43 group. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Gem of a park! Close to everything but quiet and beautiful views of the lake. The park is sloped towards the lake so most sites have the lake view. We only stayed there for one night as we traveled South but we will be back for a longer visit. Staff was courteous and very helpful with suggestions on dining. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Only stayed here two nights but if in the area would definitely stay here again. The park is very clean, with multiple campsites and other facilities (marina, beach, pavilion, picnic shelters, disc golf). The park is close to Macon, so there are lots of options if you need a city. The park is very quiet at night (at least while we were there) and there are lots of places to walk in the park, as well as bike. I imagine this may be a very different experience in the summer, but in the fall it was quite nice. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful homes to tour. We enjoyed Downtown Grill Restaurant for excellent steak which is Located in an alley but they have valet parking so don't be afraid to turn down into the alley in your tow vehicle.

We were in site 40. It has a large, level concrete pad to park on. It was long enough for all 6 tires of our 38' motorhome to be on the pad. It is also wide enough to serve as a patio. There is a picnic table, a grill, and a fire ring. It is a pull-thru site. Utilities are all logically placed, including a sewer; however, the water hookup is below ground and the cable service was shut off throughout the park the night we were there. Management said they were "having an issue with the cable company". You may want to double-check if TV is important to you. As stated, there is no wifi, and we had only 1-2 bars of Verizon service at this site. But all this, plus a water view, for $25 a night! We've paid much more for much less! We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park next to a lake. The campground is amongst rolling hills so not all the pads are level. We are in a 40' class A and on space 1, had to drive front tires up on 3" of blocking to level front to back. I will list lots that are mostly level. If you are in a fifth wheel or bumper pull you should be okay from a level stand point. There is a nice swimming beach, playground, frisbee golf and fishing. The park is quiet except at 6 pm there is a small amount of traffic on the road outside the park. The rest of the time it is very quiet. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

We had a "lake front" level full-hook-up cement pad site with sewer but the site was not set up properly. They did warn us before we took it (sewer & water on one side. Cable and electric on the other). The other sites did not have this issue. There are not really any "lake front" sites, but we could see the lake, which was beautiful. The water hook-up was below ground and full of water when we hooked up, so I sanitized our hose. Very hard hook-up if you are physically challenged. The bathrooms were acceptable, but needed that closer attention (lots of spider webs & stalls without latches). The staff was friendly. They mowed and weed-wacked very close to our equipment, which was concerning. They stopped when we mentioned our concern. Many sites are not very level. Just a few miles off I475 It was reasonably priced and we would stay again. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

Not only are the views of the lake absolutely beautiful the service was also great. We seem to always arrive after hours and it's never been a problem. We call while we are on the road and let them know it will be a late arrival and they simply ask us to register the next morning. I have never showered in the restrooms but the restrooms have always been clean. This RV Park was a favorite of my parents when they used to travel through Georgia now it is a favorite of ours ! I like the park. It has great views of the lake, and a nice variety of spots. But, it is not being taken care of. I saw cleaning crews in the bathrooms but they did not sweep, mop, or clear cobwebs. The sites had trash in them. It has such great potential but whoever is responsible for insuring that the worker are doing their jobs, is not doing their job. Gem of a campgroud with easy access to interstate. Flat concrete sites with nice picnic table and fire ring. There are five sites which are big rig friendly with lovely views of the lake. It's a very peaceful and scenic campground.

Our only complaint is the indifferent reservation staff member was not aware if sites where satellite friendly (they are) or seem to care. There is also a $4 fee per kayak irregardless if you are going to launch them. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Tobesofkee was a disappointment for us this time. We made reservations at least 30 days prior to our arrival and were told we had a pull-through site. An hour before we were to arrive while on the road, their office called us to tell us that due to electrical problems we would have to do a back-in site. Our promised site was level, this one was not and it lacked a sewer hook up. In talking with the workers who are fixing the electrical problem they said they knew of the problem 6 months before we arrived. My complaint is why didn't the office personnel tell us of this situation when we made our reservation. Maybe they were afraid of losing revenue. For those stalwart campers who will still come to Tobesofkee, many of their sites are torn up and their men's restrooms/showers were less than inviting/closed leaving only the woman's side. Their picnic tables had what appeared to have black mold growing on the table top and while they offer cable TV we had to guess each channel's network since we were offered no listing handout. If I had a camping crystal ball I'm not sure that I now see Tobesofkee in our future. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.

Like many others we have had reservation problems with this park. We called exactly three months to the day before our desired stay and were told we couldn't have a week at any of the pull-throughs, but they could only give us four days as the weekend was already reserved which shouldn't have been reserve able by itself since it was longer than the three months away. It seems they play favorites with their friends? We had a FHU pull-through which was very nice with a lake view and enjoyed it very much. All utilities were fine and the grounds crew kept up the mowing as needed. The sites are large and you can't beat it for the price. We had good Verizon coverage and a clear shot to the DTV satellite. If they would improve their reservation process, it would be unbeatable for this area. We camped at Lake Tobesofkee Claystone Park in a Motorhome.
