It's 6 miles from Rutledge to the campgrounds - very few signs and what signs there are were misleading or had so many things on them it was impossible to read while driving. The park road are wide enough for one RV, so if someone is coming while you are on the road somebody has to find a pull-off. AT&T had one bar and sometimes one bar of LTE. Free cable TV at the sites about 16 channels - lots of sports channels. Bathhouse was HOT. Family bathroom/showers were roomy and clean and ADA. Laundry at the back of the bathhouse - one washer and one drier with a table and chair and hanging rod. Site 20 was back-in 16'X50'. Utilities worked good and water wasn't bad tasting. Mini golf across from the office. Pull down passed the office to a parking area to unhook or to park while checking in. We were under an oak tree that the tons of squirrels where climbing and knocking acorns down on top of the RV that sounded like bullets or limbs hitting the roof. Sites are well prepared for guests. Be careful finding the dump station - it is across from the host campsite. There are 2 paved dump stations that are pretty level and easy to use. Rate reflects a 20% senior discount. There is a one time $5.00 park entrance fee. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This state park has made great improvements since our visits in the 70's, it has great facilities and the pads are tops, but it is not very large motor home friendly, the section we were in we had to pullout of our site then back out to turnaround. The loop on the end of the drive is not large enough for large motor homes but may be suitable for fifth-wheel units and travel trailers. Other than that we enjoyed our mid week visit, nice & quiet, nature at it's best. Nice & friendly staff. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

One of the very best GA state parks. Location, campground, amenities, - nothing but superlatives for this park. Super friendly staff and hosts. Came here to evacuate from Dorian and would love to come back. We are noticing many upgrades in recent GASP campgrounds, i.e. Crooked River, and hope to see other parks follow this. Nice, more upscale gift shop items also, mugs in particular. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful state park but quite a drive from I20. On the drive to the park you will drive "downtown" Rutledge which is very narrow streets in a quaint little town. You also go over a rather steep climb to cross a railroad, but we did not have a problem with clearance. The park sites are very scenic, wooded, and level where you hook up. We have a 40 ft MH with toad. There are only a few sites that (in our opinion) will accommodate our rig. No cell service, but the park does offer free cable to all campers. In addition to the campsite fee, the park does charge $5 for your car (toad) which is good for the entire stay. No restaurant or cafe in the park, but the little town of Rutledge did appear to have some. The park only offers 4 large pull thrus. Some areas have very long sites, but the turning circle to exit is very tight. Although it was a beautiful park, we probably would not stay there again unless necessary. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This has to be one of the nicest places we have stayed thus far. The campground was very clean. The camp hosts cleaned each campsite between campers. They were very friendly and took obvious pride in the park. Cable TV was included with the campsite. There was a security gate with an access code for after hours access to the park. The campground hosted "Pioneer Days" while we were there. It was informative to see a blacksmith at work as well as a reproduction chuck wagon. There were several family friendly entertainment options, such as mini golf, hiking & biking trails and a lake. Exit 101 from I-20 is a better way into the park than Exit 98. Plan extra driving time for any activities in Atlanta due to heavy traffic. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very large park with lots to do. Golf course, putt-putt, lots of trails, both hiking and biking, ranger programs. The roads are in good shape but some are a little narrow for fifth wheels and long motorhomes backing into sites. Many sites situated along Hard Labor Creek. Sites are flat and generally level, and most are long enough for a big rig. However, check the online map before reserving because some sites are very short. The site length given online is accurate. Bathrooms are excellent and toasty warm in the winter. Nice private uni-sex bathrooms/showers are available. There is a 50% discount in the winter, but it is not offered online. If you book online, you have to ask for a refund when you check in at the office. Well maintained property, and laid out well with the terrain. Sites are private with lots of room between sites. Many Geocaches in the park. Cable TV was provided at each site (approx 20 channels), but some channels didn't work. Free WiFi is available at the park office but not in the campground. Very poor / spotty cell phone coverage for Verizon and ATT. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Well maintained park. Our site was on a small pond with grass along the bank. The campground filled up over the weekend but it didn't feel crowded. There were activities available we opted for the beach and kayak rental. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice, quiet park located close to lake Brantley. It feels like in the middle of nowhere, but the park is actually just 15 minutes away from I20. Most sites are spacious and under trees. The loop closest to the lake is only accessible via a Reserveamerica.com reservation. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very large park. Looks brand new- Behind the bathrooms, there is a washer/dryer which is not seen in state parks. Staying on site 5, FHU, which is a wide and very long pull through. This is one of the nicest parks we have stayed in and have been traveling for the last year and a half. Camp host introduced himself and was very cordial and helpful. Park also has camping facilities for the equestrian folks. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here many years ago and the campsites have been upgraded a lot since then. Full HU's with 50-amp electricity and cable. We stayed in a pull-thru site as we were there only one night. Had to leave because they were closing the park for 3 days for an annual hunt to thin the animal population. Site was very long and level. Well spaced from others. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We only stayed over-night here and the site we had was a pull through. The park had re-done all the camp sites last year--50 amp, water and Cable TV on all sites and sewer on 1-10. Sites 1-4 are pull through. But the sites are not necessarily level but the park host advised that they are going to address that. Very bad cell service. Neither 3G or 4G were spotty. We were able to text but it was slow. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was great, they have redone the campground, both bath houses are new and there are 10 full hookup sites 1-10, every site that we checked had 30 and 50 amp. Took my two grandsons for a 2 night stay at this State Park near my home. The park has recently undergone a large renovation and in my opinion it was tax money well spent. Campsites have been upgraded with new gravel, roads repaved, underbrush cleared, etc. Park has lots to offer. We played real golf, putt putt, and the boys went swimming at the beach area. A few sites added sewer hookups and the cable was being re-done while we were here. My only complaints were no wifi or cell phone service, and my pull thru site was a little off level. If you have stayed here before, give it another try. Much improved. We camped at Hard Labor Creek State Park in a Motorhome.
