The sites are grassy, level, and big. The grounds are well taken care of. The restrooms are very unusual. Looks like an outhouse, but has flush toilets. We weren't sure where to find the showers. There is a nice pool, but it needed some cleaning. Lots of space to walk the dog. Very close to Savannah and Tybee Island to see the sights. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Very close to Savannah and Tybee Island. There is horseback riding and nice trails on the property. They also have carriage rides, a sand beach, playground and petting zoo with goats. The grounds are lovely and has lots of room to walk. Enjoyed our stay here and would come back.

A little different campground than we are used to. Large sites with lots of walking trails and farm animals to visit with. Only a 15 minute drive to downtown. My only complaint would be people spending up and down the road to the back of the property where there are several houses and the Mackey house where events are held. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful place to stay. So near Savannah and everything the town has to offer. This setting here is so relaxing on this 440 acre farm. Plenty of things to do from fishing to a beautiful swimming pool to swinging near the pond, walking, looking at all the farm animals and horses & the beautiful huge Live Oak trees. Lots were spacious and the staff was wonderful. Very comforting place to stay that is very inviting. I will definitely be back again. ? For the record I'm not 100% sure of the price but it is close. I was a little disappointed when I first pulled in because the sites are in an open field that along the perimeter do backup to trees. We were here to see Savannah and Tybee Island and would not be spending a lot of awake time at the site so no biggie, really. That and because the sites are big-rig accessible, I had the opportunity to drool over a vintage Liberty MH and a lovely Marathon. When we did have time to explore the other parts of the park, it really is beautiful. My wife also had the chance to engage in her favorite pastime - stalking weddings - as there were two during our time there. Savannah is just minutes away and Tybee is less than 30 minutes with a bit of traffic. The folks in the office were wonderful. We'd stay here again if in the area. This is a comfortable campground with interesting surroundings. It has horses and goats near the campsites but not too close. Close to Savannah and a easy drive from the campground. All the sites are in the grass and most in an open field. Gravel pads for the RV with no patios just grass. The sites are basically level and will fit any size RV. Most sites have full hookups with 50 Amps. There is a pool in the campground but is a short from most sites. This my not our favorite campground but is cute and close to amenities. Great for a short stay in Savannah. We had to move sites because it is a popular place and is full quite often. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Love this park! Since we moved to various sites, the rate varied, so this represents an approximation. The staff is hard working, friendly, and excellent. It is an RV park, a "farm" and also an event venue. Several FHU back-in sites arranged in a square, plus some water & electric water-view sites on one of their many lakes/ponds, some sites nestled under beautiful old live oaks dripping with Spanish moss, and some "dry" sites, with no hookups. The staff worked hard to accommodate us, as we hadn't made advanced reservations. This meant we spent a night in dry, but were able to move to hook-ups. The "farm" (I use quotations because it's very pretty pastures and woods, but didn't see any crops) has horses and goats, catch-and-release lakes. There's a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. My favorite site was C-2, water and electric only, overlooking a beautiful lake/pond. The park has a club house and screened in shelter. The office is interesting - a manufactured home, which has been re-worked to contain the check-in desk, a fitness room, 2 full bathrooms for guests, laundry room, etc., and it works very well. We've done a lot of RVing, and this is one of my top 5 favorites. Its location is convenient to Savannah's river-front dining, and Tybee Island, as well as shopping. We very much enjoyed our stay. We bought fire wood at the office and had campfires, too. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed this park (but I acknowledge that could be biased based on the fact that we de-winterized here and so that first shower was awesome!) The pros: Wide sites, close to shopping and Savannah/Hilton Head, nice gravel roads for walking (approx 1.3 miles once around), beautiful horses and cute goats, nice saltwater pool - not that we were brave enough in January - and a large and very well equippd "clubhouse". The cons: nearby trains may disturb your sleep during the night (they were not nearly as disruptive as our cat!), occasional military helicopter flyovers (but our son is a pilot so we are used to always looking up, LOL). We would definitely return here on our way to or from Florida. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Traveling full-time in a 38-foot coach we stayed 3-nights in a site for big rigs (site #10 - Pd $49/night) This was our first visit here. We've stayed in over 400 RV Parks and as far as WIFI goes, this RV park places in the Top Ten! We give this park 5-Stars for the fantastic WIFI! Our AT&T phones worked great here too. This park is a small well-maintained family owned park. The owners are very friendly and fantastic hosts. Big coaches need a gravel pad, so we also give this RV Park a 5-star rating for the thick gravel pad. Some RV Parks also have very narrow roads which make backing up very difficult, we found this park to have plenty of room to maneuver our coach. Some RV Parks are so dusty that one has to clean their coach after a stay, but not here, the dust on our coach was very minimal compared to many other parks. Our satellite did receive reception. There's plenty of places to walk your dog here. The bad...the road coming into the park has some fairly big potholes. This is a nice place to stay and we recommend it! We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Savannah, GA -November 2018 - Red Gate Campground - about $50.00/night. For four nights, we had the pleasure of staying at this small park. It is gorgeous. The site was plenty large and we had full hookups. The park offers a game room that has a pool table, tables for card games, a large tv, and seating. The pool table was great fun... but it was a billiard table with broken pockets and the balls often hit the floor. We couldn't play a true game of eight ball because some of the balls were missing. The park has horses onsite. Guests can go on a horseback ride for a fee. Four lakes make the park the most water friendly site we have been on that isn't on a river or the ocean. My one main criticism for this park is that the electric hookups did not have a breaker. I was shocked (literally) when unplugging on our way out. Overall, it was a great park. We were a short car ride away from downtown Savannah and Fort Pulaski. The park is located just off of the highway and was probably the easiest on/off of all time. The unpaved road to the park and the signage weren't so good. There were potholes galore and the signage did not make it clear where we needed to go. That said, we loved the park and would stay again anytime we are in the area. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The property is beautiful, with century old trees that offer a lot of character. Beautiful horses, and playful goats will keep you entertained. Our pets loved the space and the many sights to sniff out. The sun sets over most of the area that you want to explore, so I recommend that you take your walks in the morning because the setting sun is brutal. We found some trails that our lab loved. Off the beaten path, behind the waterspray pond. Our site was acceptable, but not what we expected, from such a large property. Sites are all back-in, facing toward empty field, in a big square, with exception of a couple sites, which overlook the pond, behind the square group. We backed into a row of trees, but we could not get back as far as we could, due to overhanging vines, that could have been cleared up, to give that site a little more back-up room. But overall, the site has plenty of space between others, and easy to get in and out of. Lots of sights to see in downtown Savannah. Very pretty town with lots of history. I would highly recommend this park for the long morning walks and beauty. Request one of the sites overlooking the pond and your stay will be perfect. We left Savannah a couple of days before Hurricane Michael hit land in the Panhandle, so hoping it does not damage any of this beautiful park in Savannah. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed 7 nights at Red Gate. This is a really good campground, great WiFi and friendly courteous folks. One of our favorites. There are horses, goats, cats, and we enjoyed the beautiful grounds. It is convenient to everything with a beautiful office and lots of pamphlets. Our site was back in towards the back of campground and in the evening we were shielded from the sun with the trees to our rear. A fantastic place to walk and enjoy nature. Tips for other Campers:

We intended to do some things on our own but the city of Savannah has made that difficult. There are lots of tours in shuttles and lots of parking meters. Every inch of Savannah is covered with parking meters or kiosks which we had never seen until going there. Parts of it are beautiful and historical but, if you are looking for southern hospitality in Savannah, it doesn't exist. Although we love the campground, we would never go back to Savannah. It has been ruined and we will choose to go elsewhere.

Nice flat terrain for all sites. Limited pull through sites but we're easy to navigate. Not too far off I-95 or I-17. Make your reservation a quick as you can. It is not a huge park and fills up easily. As you first pull onto the property, you will see the office in a grove of trees. DO NOT attempt to drive up to the office. The drive forks and you should KEEP LEFT towards the open campsites. Stop anywhere and walk over to the office. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice, pretty, small and quiet campground. Hook ups were well maintained. Easy to get to, right off the highway but can't hear the highway noise while in your camper. Was about 5 miles south of Savannah, Georgia. Campground did offer tour packages where a trolley comes to get you but since they pick you up at 9 am and bring you back at 4 pm, we didn't take advantage of this since we had dogs in the camper. Husband enjoyed fishing in one of the 4 ponds. They have horses and offer trail riding here as well. Pool was really nice, really clean and there was a lot to see around the campground like the Mackey house, located in the back of the campground. We'd stay here again without any question. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
