The only drawback is we were staying 5 days and only a few sites had sewers. BUT the park is GORGEOUS with the Spanish moss bripping from the trees. Nice spacious sites. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Campsite was clean and the gravel raked when we got there. Interior roads are very narrow except for the main road. Watch for traffic as they don't enforce the speed limits. We had a cable problem when we hooked up, but they got it fixed within an hour. Good response and good people. Check in was easy and everyone was friendly and helpful. Our site was fully shaded and very spacious. 20 minutes to Savannah downtown, 40 to Tybee Island. We would/will camp here again. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park. Paved roads. Only problem with roads in my section was that they were very bumpy. Cable reception was very poor but OTA reception was very good. Did not report problem with office. Wooded sites. My site, like many others was a "horseshoe" pull thru but the turn into the site was too tight for me. Backed in without problems. Site was perfectly level side to side. Large raised platform for picnic table and/or tent. Very close to good grocery store. Power and water pressure good. Trash dumpsters located adjacent to dump station. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Didn't go into Savannah but did stop at 8th Air Force museum. Off I95 about 2 miles north of I16. About 25 miles from campground and worth the trip.

Overall Rating:

This attractive park has 87 rv sites which are a mix of pull through and back ins with cable, large elevated tent pad, fire ring and picnic table. There are 17 30/50 amp FHU sites and the remainder are 30 and 50 amp W/E sites. There are three park model style cabins for rent. All sites are gravel and spacious, and are separated into four camping loops. Main roads are paved and wide. Interior roads are also paved, but are very narrow and winding (and are two-way roads!). We stayed in site 26, a very long pull through site which was level and the most spacious site we have ever stayed in at any park. Bathhouse nearest to us had four toilets and two showers per gender as well as two private toilet/shower combinations which were kept clean. Laundry room had two washers and two dryers ($1.50 each) and worked great. We had power issues at this park, with fluctuations between 107 to 130 volts which tripped our surge protector a few times. Verizon service was fair/good. Nice hiking/walking/biking trails throughout the park. Park office sells gifts, ice, firewood, snacks and ice cream. They also have bicycle rentals and accept mail deliveries. Very friendly and helpful staff. They do not allow check ins before 1:00, but there is a large parking area where you can wait if necessary. Aside from the power issues, we really loved this park and would return. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very narrow roads into park. The site we had reserved on line had large oak trees that were too close together for our RV to get through. Called ranger and were assigned a better site. Nice that they include cable hookups at each site but it is very limited. NO local TV stations and only news available was CNN which we never watch. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful state park with full hook-ups. There are alot of trees here, & I could not find one site where you might be able to get satellite signal if you have direct or dish sat tv. If you have a "tail-gater" unit, you might be in luck. We were surprised to know the park has cable tv & that worked pretty well. The park is not too far from the main roads that will take you to downtown Savannah & you can be there in less than 30 minutes. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The highlight of our stay in Savannah was lunch at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room on Jones St. (downtown area). Southern cooking served family style. $30/person (cash only). Come early & wear loose waisted pants (they will be tight when you come out LOL). If you appreciate great ice cream, you gotta try Leopold's on E. Broughton St.

This is the second time we stayed in this park. This time, we arrived tired on a Friday at a full park, on the longest day of the year (Jun 21), without reservation. However, the ranger/manager was our "Trail Angel" of the day, he used his computer knowledge to find us a site. It looks like all the sites are pull-throughs of horse shoe shapes, and are shady. Our site was so spacious that it felt like we had a backyard. This is a clean and all around well maintained park. And you can't beat the price. We went to near by Tybee Island at night. It was packed with visitors for the weekend. Later that night we saw a deer family at the park's entrance. One block away from the park there is a little business square called The Village with gas station and a Supermarket. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was an awesome park! We had a pull through full hook-up site that was HUGE! There were many large live oak trees with Spanish moss hanging from them. We sat outside almost every evening and insects were not an issue. We used a small fan and citronella candles. The park is very quiet and peaceful. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get to downtown Savannah. The trails for the bikes were very nice. There were a few places that the rider had to use some skill in traversing the roots. The rangers at the park were all very helpful and would offer any advice when asked. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Paula Dean's Two Sons restaurant was on our list...just because...(Conde was our waiter...VERY good service). Another good restaurant is the Traylor Park on Bay street. So much to see and do in Savannah. Great city to walk around and enjoy the many parks. I will echo what others have posted; take the trolley in town to get a feel for the layout of the city and learn some interesting history along the way. You get free parking when using the trolley (parking can get expensive).

Very nice well kept park, near Savannah so good for taking day trips into town. Mix of back-in and pull through sites, most with 30/20 power and water. Some full hookups available, but must be reserved far in advance. Roads are very narrow two-way. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

What a beautiful park! The sites were very large and ours had open space, trees and foliage that created our own small park. Our pull through site was gravel, level and had a large, neat gravel area with a picnic table. At our site, we were entertained by woodpeckers and a couple other birds we didn't identify. The park offers trails, some of which are walking and biking and some that are walking only. We rode our bikes over all the available biking trails, which took about an hour and a half with stops. The trails are mostly smooth, with some roots that are easily avoided or easily ridden over. There are a few patches with significant roots that need more care in traversing. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was an overnight stop for us. We might have stayed longer but the campground was full. We only got in because there was a cancellation. The park looked like it would be a great place to stay while visiting Savannah. We only have two complaints. The previous campers or raccoons had left rib bones in the campsite, and we had to keep taking them away from our dogs. Also, the mosquitoes were very bad at sunrise and sunset. Enough that you need to retreat to your camper to get away from them. I would not have wanted to be tent camping! We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We visited this park on our way home from Florida in late April. Stayed for 3 nights, visited Historic Savannah and Might Eight WW Museum. The park was beautiful with moss trees, spacious sites, clean restrooms and showers, easy dump station when we left. We had a pull thru site which made it easy when we pulled out with our tow car early morning. We would stay here again. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park! Sites are groomed crushed limestone, very level and large and quiet. Nearly every site is a pull through parallel to the road so your door opens away from traffic making the sites very private. Pretty easy to maneuver, though satellite tv might be tough with all the trees. Very friendly and helpful staff, they kept the sites immaculate. The park was beautiful, quiet, and spacious. Hiking trails were easy and offer nice scenery. There is a Publix and BP 5 mins from the park entrance. Downtown Savannah is just a 30-min drive, and Tybee Island is a 45-min drive. Restrooms and showers are clean, very warm inside the facilities too, which was much appreciated in the winter. Our campsite had full hookup including sewer which made things so much easier too! We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.
