The park was beautiful, quiet, and spacious. Hiking trails were easy and offer nice scenery. There is a Publix and BP 5 mins from the park entrance. Downtown Savannah is just a 30-min drive, and Tybee Island is a 45-min drive. Restrooms and showers are clean, very warm inside the facilities too, which was much appreciated in the winter. Our campsite had full hookup including sewer which made things so much easier too! We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Scenic state park, just what you'd imagine in the south. Magnificent oak trees dripping with spanish moss, pines, thick foliage. Very clean. Beautiful walking trails. Our fhu pull thru site was roomy and easy to maneuver. Tho the park has cable TV we chose to park our rig so that we'd have satellite reception. This meant our sewer connection was not accessible. Not the park's fault, our choice. Wifi at office/camp store. Short drive to Savannah, Publix near park entrance. Large capacity washers and dryers $1.25. Clean bathrooms and showers. Would absolutely stay again. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Fort Pulaski incredibly well preserved, you can see an actual confederate cannon ball lodged in the outer wall.

Very nice park, pretty dark with bad weather in winter because of all the trees. but they look beautiful with all the Spanish moss. cable tv, but not very good, at least on our site. they even blow away the pine needles from your site after you leave! T-Mobile works but weak signal. we didn't get a site with sewer but we had 50amp. great to visit savannah and area. we would stay there again. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It's a beautiful park. Very shaded, large mostly pull through sites. We were in a 30 amp, E&W only, have cable. Good Verizon 4G. There's a picnic table & fire ring on sites. There are a few FHU 50 amp sites. The bathrooms are clean but the water wasn't very hot. My complaint is that the roads off the main road are narrow with tree limbs hanging down, so making navigation for a big rig troublesome. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful state park with multiple sites, including some pull through and full hookup (though we had only water and 50 amp). There are multiple bathhouses with clean restrooms and showers, and some also have laundry machines. There are lots of trails in the park, which is on a coastal island, so the trails (and the park itself) is quite scenic. Park is easily accessible and is only a few minutes from Savannah. The park has an interpretive center and a shop/store/office. Groceries are only a few minutes away. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for four nights. Full hook up. HUGE sites. The ONLY drawback was we arrived a bit early and they made us wait in an over flow parking lot until 1:00 which was check in. We were not the only ones waiting. Silly rule but I guess a rule is a rule.

Has a nice nature center on the grounds and a Jr. Ranger for the kids to do. Brand new bath house. Laundry was convenient too. Bring your bikes to bike around. Would stay here again. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The first thing we noticed about this State Park is its unique beauty. Spanish moss hanging from the trees provides a wonderful canopy of shade for a hot and steamy climate (in June). The next item that pops out at you...space! The camp sites are extremely well spaced with plenty of area on each site to move around and set up as you see fit. The roads need to be taken s-l-o-w-l-y because tree roots have pushed the asphalt up in several areas, so you could get the feeling that you were riding a bull in a rodeo if you don't slow way down. Not a major issue if you drive wisely. We stayed in an ADA site (yes, we are legally authorized) and the only issue with that site was it did not have 50 amp service. So, we were judicious about what appliances we ran and when we ran them. For experienced RVers, not a big deal. In short, we loved the park, and it made a great place to relax. It was located close to a lot of good seafood. Tybee Island is very close by as well. We will stay there again as we make our rounds. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed two nights in space 42. A FHU Pull through site near the front of the park. OTA and Cell was fine, and there was some cable provided (DISH did not work due to trees). Plenty of nice hikes and bike rides through the Spanish Moss covered trees and out to the Marshes. Good bird watching. There is also a nice interpretive nature center with a great birding window. Only ding is their refusal to let anyone check in even a little early. We got there 30 minutes early and had to wait around... We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

This is an interesting park. It is one of the most beautiful parks I have seen. The sites are spacious and well shaded. The roads are not so nice. They are more like alleys with trees very close. Some of the turns to get into a site are very difficult. There are a variety of options: back in, pull through, 30 amps, 50 amps, sewer, it depends what section you chose. The hiking trails are well marked. There is a Kroger about 2 miles from the park entrance. Not a lot of lights at night which is nice. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

State park campgrounds can vary a lot, but this one has a lot of recent updates. Sites are a spaced well, though there are limited trees/vegetation between sites so not much on privacy in that sense. Most sites seem to be W/E, but there are a few loong pulltroughs with full hookups. The roads are pretty easy to navigate though there are a number of trees right along curves in the road. Bathrooms are in good condition, with one that has been renovated quite recently. Nice park overall with good proximity to Savannah, which is why they can get away with charging a pretty high rate for a state park. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.

This park has a very peaceful feel to it. The sites are huge and private. It's very shady but there's enough sunlight throughout the park to not feel like you're camping in a cave. Full hookups with 50 amp and easy to navigate. Level sites and strong power. Cable tv is so rare in a State Park but this has it. Used the hotspots for internet w/out any issue. ATT (7mb d/l) and Verizon (10mb d/l) without a booster. Bathrooms were a bit dated but clean. I didn't check out the showers. There's lots to do here. Savannah is very close and the park itself has miles of hiking trails. It's a dog friendly area with lots of nice walking opportunities. They have well placed free dog bags and trash cans in convenient locations. There's a nice laundromat 20 minutes away (Suds) with plenty of large and clean machines. Suds is overpriced though. Shopping is very convenient with everything you could need within 15 minutes. The only negative I want to mention is the check in time is 1pm. We showed up at 12:47 and the man at the desk decided to make a point of 13 minutes and not allow us to check in. It seemed a bit petty. Besides that, there was nothing that could be improved here. It's a wonderful relaxing place. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Motorhome.
