Jan 2019 - $38.00
Stayed a month in this RV park. The office staff was very kind and provided clear directions on how to maneuver the park roads to my site. The site was level and had an elevated patio which was perfect for my RV. The patio was old and had broken concrete but it was very good to have when it rained. The park is quiet despite being close to a major roadway. Wi-Fi - very good signal T-Mobile - 4 of 4 bars. Electric - no issues Water - no issues Sewer - no issues Satellite - no issues. - Peter G

Close to Stone Mountain and Atlanta! Quiet, spacious sites, (not much shade). Friendly professional staff. This former trailer park is primarily an RV Park now with nice level sites, quality utilities (high water pressure-bring a regulator), - dbcnc
May 2018 - $40.00
This not a campground for campers who are looking for activities or amenities. It has no restrooms or showers, no meeting rooms, and no planned activities. But it is a great choice for someone looking for a reliable full hookup and a quiet place to stay in a commercially busy area. The park is very large and spread out but has a limited number of sites available for transients. There are a substantial number of permanent residents but also many unused potential sites available for improvement to a level where they could accommodate a unit. While not at all a typical RV park, we enjoy staying here. It provides a nice site in a good location and plenty of space. Since we are full-timers who are self-contained, we do not require the showers or other amenities. For us, this is a high rated park. - seeyajohn

Nov 2018 - $46.00
This review is just about the campground at Stone Mountain Park. It has nothing to do with the rest of the beautiful park. Everyone has to pay the $20 entrance fee just to drive to the office. All employees are very nice and helpful. We had site #317, a standard FHU site in Loop M. We were already hesitant to drive into the woods when we saw the narrow, rough road and lots and lots of low hanging trees. we were crawling to our site over broken asphalt and exposed roots. The site was even worse, 8 inches of boards needed to level the trailer. After unhooking I had to lower the front about 15 inches to be level back to front!! The electric station was falling apart but worked. It got repaired the next day. Unfortunately it was getting dark and we didn't go back to ask for another site. Cable, electric, water, sewer worked fine. It was the worst campsite in 12 years of extensive traveling and we will never go back. T-Mobile was weak and slow. - swissman
Nov 2018 - $79.00
We won't be back. First annoyance was a $20.00 entrance fee to get into the park, added to the already high rates for the quality of what they offer. That fee is collected at a toll gate that was about 8'6" wide and extremely difficult to maneuver through without damage. No mention of that extra fee was provided on registration, or on the web. Check-in process was not friendly at all. Another annoyance was the crumbling asphalt on the camp pads. The rest of the "attraction" experience was over commercialized, designed solely to extract cash. Laundry room was old, beat-up and dirty. Georgia needs to take a second look at this facility, and the company that runs it. - Dan Hannah
Nov 2018 - $65.00
This park needs some road work. The asphalt is breaking away, and the tree roots have pushed up the roads quite a bit. The roads are narrow with trees and cars to watch out for, and the site is gravel and not very level. We were in site # 307 pull thru, and it was fun hooking up at an angle. It was a nice park to walk all the loops with the dogs, but was pretty deserted in late October when we stayed there. This park has a lot of potential if some money were put into it. - Vipermanden

This park is a great place for an overnight stay or to stay while seeing the sights in Atlanta. The park has two sections, one ofr longtime residents and one for short stays. The short stay is near the entrance, very well kept up, easy to navigate, and all pull thrus, long enougth for our 40' motorhome with toad attached. Sites were close together, but each sight is wide enough for easy in and out. All sites were gravel/dirt. Ours was level and the others all seemed to be level as well. - Lou Ellen
Dec 2018 - $35.00
Great overnight stay as we traveled through Atlanta. Price was very reasonable. Nice sized, pull through sites. Full hook ups. This is a no frills park, but would stay here again if in the Atlanta area. - Bryan Shumway
Dec 2018 - $35.00
Last review about covers it. We used the park as a convenient one-night stopover on a trip. Many long-termers, muddy surfaces after rain. This time we found the electric power weak...voltages seemed very low. We'll use this park as a stopover but it is not a destination park for us. - Grumpier99

Apr 2018 - $13.00
The park is very old and needs major updating. The roads are bad, 1/2 of the homesteaders' trailers are in real bad condition with canvas covers over them. A lot of them need a wash real bad. There are pot holes on every corner. No one follows the rules. There are a lot of stray cats around park. Could not get any one in charge to deal with them!!! There are junk piles in front and along side of a lot of trailers. Some homesteaders let their dogs poop any where and don't pick up after them, they just let them out, no leash and they go where ever. Some of the C section pads are missing concrete in the middle row so they are not usable. Water pressure was hit and miss, some times of the day there was no pressure. - USAF

Office staff pleasant. Park is in very bad condition. This should be a 1 night last resort stop. - Va70
Mar 2017 - $15.00
My rate is based on monthly rate of $400 that includes electrical and wifi. I stayed at Riverside Estates from December 2016 thru February 2017. This may not be an RV resort, but it is a good place to stay if in the Atlanta area. The Park offers full hook up's, and has both 30 and 50 amp service. WiFi was included with the site and, for the most part, I had good wifi service - as good as or better than other campground's wifi. Many of the people in the Park were long term and, except for a few, all rigs were in good condition. The sites were well maintained. The campground is an older campground in need of a makeover, and the current management is in the process of giving it a face lift. The sites are concrete and level with some cracking of the site pad due to age. The sites are not large, but are of average or larger than other places I have stayed. Most of the sites are in the open with a few trees scattered throughout. There are both back-in and pull thru sites with plenty of room for maneuvering thru the park. I selected B Section next to the Yellow River, which I was told was a flood plain before I decided on the site. During a heavy rain the river started to rise and the management team went to each camper and informed them they may have to relocate, gave them new sites to move to, and an emergency number to call if needed. I enjoyed my stay at Riverside Estate's everyone I came in contact with were friendly and a pleasure to interact with. I had great neighbors, some same your neighbors are the same no matter where you are... - Andy52

Stayed two nights. Great state park campground. Very peaceful and wooded. Elect. was 30 amp only and no sewer, but the beauty and peacefulness outweighed those inconveniences. People were very nice, great experience here. - Eric & Michelle Newton
Jun 2018 - $35.00
We had a wonderful stay at Fort Yargo. Our space was pull through, extremely large, excellent power and water. The check-in staff could have been a bit friendlier, we arrived about 45 min prior to check in and we where told to return as all sites where still full, I am ok when being asked to return - I expected that may happen - but they could have been nicer about it. Keep in mind it was well over an hour since the published check out times, so it unlikely all the spots where still taken. All subsequent contacts with the staff where excellent. We loved our stay and will absolutely be back! I wish they had sewer hookup at the sites, the dumpsite was excellent and very clean. - Canton Traveler

Jun 2018 - $45.00
We really enjoyed Shoal Creek Campground. There were some things such as people listening to music loudly late at night and trash around the area that could have made it better. It was also pretty hard to get in with a 40ft fifth wheel. Someone had to move their car so we could make the curve. But the size of the sites and also being on the lake made it worth it despite the flaws. We would camp there again. - Twintravelers
Oct 2017 - $47.00
The reviews you read about this place are accurate, unfortunately. There is trash everywhere! The fire pit was full of trash. There were empty popcorn containers stuck in the tree. While we were looking at sites, a guy wandered up and starting relieving himself just off the road - with virtually no tree cover! - Maybell Rolls
Aug 2017 - $43.00
The front office was very nice when we checked in. The first site we were given we could not fit in because of our slides but the easily moved us. But the park lacks pride of ownership. There is trash everywhere. There was even a pile of blankets and dishes like a bum was living in the woods next to our site. The bathroom toilets would not flush and the bathrooms looked like they have not been cleaned in a while. The grill was broken off its pole and sitting on the ground. We walked down to the dock and it was very sketchy/shaky and did not seem very stable. Very disappointed in the campground. We have been to several campgrounds this summer and this was by far the worst. - Vicki M

The park was very run down. Sites were in need of work. Park is very old. We had camped here approximately 20 years back with the kids. Went back to see about planning a holiday stay. They have spent a lot of money on the water park but none on the campground. Very disappointed. One night stay and left. - RDM1980
May 2017 - $42.00
A few years ago, before the current management team took over this campground, I considered this campground to be my favorite in NE Georgia. I have a new travel trailer now and drove to Blue Ridge Campground (Lake Lanier Islands) with a friend to scope the campground out again with the anticipation of camping there this week. WELL! I was shocked at the condition of the campground! There were large pot holes in the roads, large enough that I had to steer around them. I saw campsites that were so overgrown with vegetation you would no longer be able to back your travel trailer into them. I found one site I initially considered staying at, however the grill was broken and unusable and it looked as though the site had a sewer connection, but the pipe was full of a "liquid". There was one, lone, older travel trailer parked in one of the sites and it looked like it was abandoned as well. I drove back to the guard house and asked the lady when the campground would be open. To my surprise, she said "Its open now!" I asked her if they were planning on making repairs and she said "Not as far as I know". Honestly, the place looks abandoned. And for $42 a night, there are other, much better maintained campgrounds in the area, at less money! - Travelforlife2015
May 2016 - $47.00
When you come through the gates it is mesmerizing. Absolutely beautiful resort. Arriving at the campground I was totally surprised that it was part of the same resort. Roads were terrible at best. Campsites were clean and utilities worked except for the sewer hookup. Most of the sewer hookups are not usable. Beautiful views of the lake. Restrooms and showers worked but could use upgrades. Shower stalls had broken tiles and no lighting in the showers. - F35mech

New review and update from prior review in May. First the update, was contacted by senior Ranger for parks. Explained what happened and received a very nice apology. Ranger said my request should have been granted. He also told me the funding for parks and campgrounds has been increased for 2019 and there will be full time employees next season. New review, as before very nice campground. Water, electric good. Concrete pads, very level. Still no Grey water dumps. The concrete pads are very narrow. We were in #20 and with the tires at the very edge of one side, there was only 12 inches of pad, then a drop off of 12 inches to the sloping downward ground on the door side of our Class C. Dangerous! This is a very old campground and while very well maintained, some upgrades are needed to better serve the current size RVs. Some of the sites have very strangely placed areas for picnic table, fire ring, etc. with concrete sidewalks leading to them, our sidewalk was behind the RV with the picnic table next to the RV, but 5-6 feet below pad level. Some sites rated as "back-in" have the water and power on the wrong side of pad, therefore making them "pull-in". We will be staying again, but have made a list of the sites with the best layouts as this is a site specific reservation system. - Retired Medic
May 2018 - $16.00
Our first time in a C.O.E. campground. First the positives. Well maintained roads and campsites. Concrete pads with asphalt driveways, mostly level. Volunteer camp attendants, which is both good and bad. Good water pressure and power. Beautiful lakeside sites but not many of those. Book early. Now, the bad. No permanent on-site staff. no grey water dumps, the one sewer dump hard to get into and out of. Gate/office is only staffed by volunteers a few hours a day. Showers clean with good hot water, but no benches in shower stall. Only one small hook on the back of the doors. Reservation system is ridiculous! New contractor for system with typical lack of training. Will only allow reservations for the weekend for 2 days, no matter what. Example, we were booked Sunday thru Saturday. Our site was available Sunday night, with someone else pulling in Monday. When we tried to extend our stay to Sunday, were told NO, Sunday is part of the weekend and weekends have 2 day minimum. Reserve America representative told me to go to the office, which wasn't open. Volunteer told me to drive to the Project Office about 5 miles down the road and ask Park ranger to allow the additional night. Was told NO, weekend is 2 night minimum, even though there was only one night open between reservations. Typical federal government thinking, instead of making money allowing a one night extension, they got nothing. We will go back to this campground, but now will make sure we book the whole weekend. - Retired Medic

We booked and paid for our site online. There was no one at the gatehouse but we knew our site number and parked there. Beautiful sites and gorgeous views on the lake. Sites have water and electric. There is a good dump station on your way out. Sites are clean and well maintained with concrete pads for the Rv. Roads are paved. We loved this park and would definitely recommend! - Mimi-Papa

First night in our latest camper. After a 10 year break we decided to purchase a small travel trailer and go see the country. We spent night one near our dealer just in case we needed something addressed - we didn't! Neat park but for short combinations only! Small campsites and tight roads don't lend themselves to trailers over 24 ft or so. Had a quiet night on the lake. - Champ203

May 2015 - $25.00
This is a very nice campground on the lake. We stayed in May, and it was quiet and peaceful. The 3pm check-out is great. The sites are spacious and many of them are private, most of them have lake views, and they are very shady. We walked all through the park and there really isn't a bad site here, they are all beautiful. The tent sites are lovely and very private, the only downside to tent camping here would be that it's a bit of a walk to the restrooms. The only downside to camping in a Travel Trailer is that there is no sewer hook up--only a dump station. Also check the length requirements, big RV's can't get into this park. Our travel trailer is 25 feet (29 extended) and we had no problems. We will definately come back! - Hrm672

We needed a place close to Atlanta for a seminar and Twin Lakes RV PArk was right down the road. The park is quiet and clean. Nice walking paths around the lakes with fountains. Plenty of dog clean up stations and pet friendly. This will be our stop whenever we are in the Atlanta area. - CampsiteFlags
Oct 2018 - $35.00
I am not sure I get the appeal of this place. The entrance is down a narrow, residential road. We passed another RV leaving, and he pulled off the road to let us by. Check-in staff was pretty indifferent and not what I would call friendly. They do not accept credit cards. The permanent sites are kind of hidden up a steep hill. These sites are quite large and very shaded with decent spacing. The transient spots are in several different areas and RVs are scattered all over the place. Some sites have shade from trees, some partial, some none at all. The pull-thru sites are very small and narrow. The sites on the water are very close together. There is one site that is literally right next to the public sewer. We were in a large gravel lot with the RVs positioned corral style. All the sites were back in and very close together. Our site was between an old, long term fifth wheel and an even older park unit that had crates of stuff underneath it(even though according to the park rules this isn't allowed). Said neighbor frequently let her dogs bark inside while she sat outside arguing with her son. We were also parked right next to, if not on top of, the septic as there were signs indicating this. Directv worked in our spot but wouldn't in all sites due to trees. The internet worked great until the place filled up and then it was pretty useless. Verizon was 4g 3 bars so we were able to use our hot spot. On the plus side, this park is convenient to the enormous amount of shopping in the area. Restaurants are a dime a dozen. The lakes are pretty with a couple of trails. However, it is unlikely we would stay here again. - Free
Sep 2018 - $40.00
Stayed overnight in 40-foot RV towing. Our site was back-in down by the lake. Access was roomy. The campground is set up in sections on a hill. The lawn sections were well manicured, and the walking paths along and behind the lake were very nice. We saw some folks catching (and releasing) small fish. The campground was clean and quiet. We would stop here again. - Txgranni
