Close and convenient to the area we were visiting in Atlanta. Park staff are exceptional. Grounds spacious & clean, well maintained. Lots to see and do within the park. Loved seeing families enjoying time together. Easy access to Atlanta. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Motorhome.

The nightly rate is misleading because we had to purchase a three night minimum for the 4th of July week which included two daily passes to the amusement park. Had never been to Stone Mountain and thoroughly enjoyed. We had a nice shady campsite but it was not easy to back into. The picnic tables were very old and very dirty. The spaces are cramped and the interior roads are terrible. The staff was helpful and friendly and the shuttle service from the campground to the amusement park was very convenient. We would return. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park that is there to have you spend more money at the main attractions. We paid $220 for 3 nights in one of the upgraded spots with a deck, propane grill, fire pit, and crush and run pad. They forget to mention you have to pay $20 (per vehicle even if you are towing) to get in Stone Mountain park to then pay to stay at Stone Mountain campground. Once checked in you get a vehicle pass, but wont credit you the $20 back, since they are separate systems. Our site was nice, power was good, water pressure was decent. Our propane grill was disgusting at best and the propane was empty. Good thing we paid extra for it. Deck was nice, but way to hot to enjoy. Pool was nice but well used (cloudy). Fire pit was full of debris and cigarette butts. Aside from the clerk at the front desk, everyone seemed like they didn't care and were just trying to get through the day. Laser show was awesome, must see! Mark this off our list as we will not be back. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy to level, didn't even need to level (but we did, of course). This was a great site, first time ever we have had a wood patio with our own propane grill. A fire pit, a picnic table, propane grill and a wood patio at every site! There are a lot of activities in the park, kind of a Disneyland-ish amusement thing but easy access to all the activities. A shuttle can take you to all the fun stuff like rides and shops. There is a store on site that carries typical basics you might need. The baths are clean but no security code. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Atlanta state capitol building is only 20 miles away. There is an open-top double-decker tour bus/boat around the park and a tram you can ride (Skyride) to the top of Stone Mountain. Lots of amenities around the park.

Large campground atrached to the larger park. Lots to do and location is everything at this park as some spots and loops are really bad and some are good. Bathrooms are ok, pool is ok. Personnel are really nice especially Teresa. The park entrance fee on top of camping reservations feels wrong, the entrance fee should be part of the camping costs. Also be aware that on 4th of July weekend the rest of the park can reach capacity and if you are outside the park you could be denied entrance until after the laser and light show concludes (1030 pm). We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Travel Trailer.

They need to spend some money maintaining the park. The roads are filled with pot holes. Roots have grown under the payment and raised the payment. Campsites are unlevel and the pavement is broken up. We had a pull thru and the pad was badly broken up and unlevel. I give high marks to the shuttle service from the parking lot to the main area was great. We did not encounter a person at the park that was not courteous and helpful. We stayed in site 434 which was not in the main area of the campground. The closer you are to the main camping area the closer the campsites are to one another. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ride the Shuttle to the attractions. Follow the directions into the campground that are posted on their website. If you go through the city of Stone Mountain the road passed under a LOW railroad bridge. Not an easy turnaround.

Awesome family place for all ages! Plenty to do and located inside Stone Mountain Park. Downfall is you’re charged $20 parking by park on arrival but not each day. Still worth the visit! Fees for attractions in park but plenty to do without having to pay for things to do. Campground offers plenty of amenities to do and all kinds of events through out the year. We’ll definitely be back! We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Stone mountain campground is horrible. The sites are very uneven with cracked up cement and spots of gravel. Normally it takes less than 15 minutes to set up the site and it took over an hour. We tried to raise the one side by rolling the tires on the lynx blocks, but they kept sliding on the dirt/gravel. End result was a bent stabilizer. There is no lighting around the campground and the bathroom. With the uneven ground, it is very hazardous. I kept thinking I was going to step in a dip and fall. I have a knee replacement and if I fell, I could be very hurt. I called the front office several times before someone finally answered to ask where you throw away your trash. They said to drive it all the way down to the front office or leave it by the road between 8-4. I usually throw the trash out after dinner. Guess not this time. For 54 plus 7 surcharge (the cheaper site) you would think the campground would be updated and have lights. Oh yeah, wifi is terrible too. So very disappointed and never coming back. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very large park across the lake from Stone Mountain. Roads are broken asphalt & very tight in some places. Some back in sites looked like they were tight & difficult to back in. We had to use leveling blocks to get level. Utilities were easy to connect to & they worked (did not connect sewer). We were here 1 night only. Staff were very friendly, professional & helpful. I agree with others that paying to enter the park to get to the campground that your going to pay for is not right. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very pretty campground and the closest to Atlanta I could find. But two things will most likely keep me from camping here again. First, on top of the not inexpensive campground rates, you have to pay a $20 parking fee upon entering the park. Second, the roads and pads are in bad shape. Tree roots have grown under the road, making it into an obstacle course not suitable for our motorhome. The same has happened with the pads, so they are not level, have lots of holes and ripples. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Motorhome.

Over all Park is good. Lots for kids to do. Large playground, swimming pool, lots of kids to play with. For the price, the campground needs work. Premium sites were all gravel and needs regraveling. Deck (waste of space) gas grill, table and fire pit. Site are close together. Some full timers that looked like a hoarding situation. This park could easily be a 5 Star with a little TLC. Friendly staff. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Travel Trailer.

We've been camping here for at least 35 years. Lately we have stayed in loops C, E or F as they are wide, have few trees and level. This time we had to stay in loop L. It was horrible. The sites were dirty. They looked like they hadn't been swept, raked, repaved or had their fire rings clean for about 35 years. The pavement was uneven, heaved from tree roots, and had drop-offs of up to 6" with the pavement breaking off on the sides. We just won't go back if we have to stay in a site other than C, E or F loops until the management decides to spend the $64/site fee on some repairs to the wooded area sites. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Most of the park is heavily wooded, we needed to use their cable, which was fine. The sites are partially paved, and the roads are a little tight, but no trees scraping your coach. Shuttle service is available to all the attractions at the park (train ride, light show, etc). Water pressure was good. There are plenty of shower buildings throughout the park. Some sites are on the lake. The wifi is not real fast. This is the only nice park in the Atlanta area. We camped at Stone Mountain Park in a Motorhome.
