Several rigs pulled in at once, office sign said open but was locked, owner saw the confusion and opened up. Check in was normal and given a long verbal list of rules, no escort to site, owner and wife only employees. Site was pull thru and spacious but very short, all utilities are at the very back blocked by large bushes difficult to get at, site was level. All that being said small park very well groomed, restroom were very clean did not use laundry. EZ on and off I-93, small restaurant on property but only open when they can find some employees, other reviewers say it is excellent. Town is in the middle of nowhere and claim to fame "first town powered by nuclear power" old reactor is 20 miles south and there are tours. Next morning owners were friendly and pointed out several points of interests. Check out is 10AM and $20 per hour after that so don't sleep in. Local feature is "numbers hill" but looks like graffiti to me. Will return. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Although the park is suppose to be big rig friendly, it only has one of four rows that truly is. Interior roads are narrow and unfortunately they park rigs in undersized spots. The sites do have a wide grass area, however the rig parking area is tight...DO NOT PARK or DRIVE on the grass. The owner is obsessive about it! We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park for visiting Craters of the Moon NM. Close to road but not bothersome to us...not much traffic. Restaurant on site open Thurs-Sat only. Owner smokes ribs that are absolutely out of bounds delicious and falling off the bone tender...definitely worth adding a day to your stay if you're a ribs fan. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

As an evening cold front broods high over the distant mountain range, it becomes clear what is so special about this place. Stunning mountain views, horses romping in open pastures behind the campground, peaceful quiet . . . and privacy. There's enough space here between sites to relax and enjoy the solitude. Most commercial campgrounds would easily fit two additional rigs between us and our neighbor! Most every campsite has shade from adolescent trees and is well-lit at night. There is green grass too, pride fully nurtured. Hookups are conveniently located and utilities are reliable (we stayed in August). OTA TV reception is plentiful, consistent and clear. Wi-Fi works like it's supposed to, no complaints. Internal roads are gravel with some tight turns, but navigable. The campground laundry is small (3 washers/dryers) but brand new ($2.50/load). Propane is available on site. Although a bit pricey on first glance, given the qualities of the park we found it well worth every dime. No need to search further anywhere in the area. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Arco is little more than a blip in the road but does have a post office, fuel and groceries (groceries limited and expensive). Arco is central to Craters of the Moon (18 miles), Experimental Breeder Reactor #1 (26 miles), Idaho Potato Museum (59 miles) and serves as gateway to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The Idaho Potato Museum (in Blackfoot) is worth the drive; while at the museum, ask about the thrice daily trolley tours of the city.

Overall Rating:

Very pleasant, clean, maintained RV park with nicely trimmed and watered (green) grass and trees. The trees may or may not throw significant shade depending on site and time of day/year. Level gravel sites and roads easy to maneuver even with big rigs. No problem with electric, good wifi and Verizon. Downsides might be the cost of doing laundry ($2.50) and some road noise if you're in the first row. The rib smell that permeates the office/restaurant even on days they aren't being cooked makes you want to stay til they're available. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

From my notes about this park: No cable TV, OTA only picks up 9 channels. Low shore power voltage. Measured 107V @14A. Had to bypass my Energy management system because it kept kicking out the incoming power. It was not particularly hot outside so not a lot of air conditioners were in use. Site was just long enough for the trailer and truck. Not the park's fault but we had a mouse problem which was resolved by some mouse traps purchased at the local dollar store. The cafe on-site serves falling off the bones ribs that were delicious. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Closest nice RV park to Craters of the Moon NM. Also close to Idaho National Laboratory. Roads and sites are gravel. Site is mostly level. Utilities are all good and the WiFi is high speed. Water pressure is regulated to 45lbs. Sites all have a large grassy area with a picnic table and most have mature trees. Trees are well trimmed and don't interfere with maneuvering or slide outs. Owner is very nice and like to visit with guests. We would stay here again. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We are quite puzzled at the vicious negativity of a small minority of reviewers. This is a lovely park surrounded by stunning views. The park is lush with grass, very tidy sites, spotless bathrooms/showers. The owner is helpful and interesting. We loved our stay here and would return in a heartbeat. Nicely done gravel roads, ample pull thru space and nice grassy yard. Just enough shade to knock off the sun but not so much the grass does not grow. Peaceful setting with a nice view of the mountain / desert landscape. Big open fenced in area in the back to play with your dog off leash. We loved it. Dinner on site, Ribs. Meaty, tender, some of the best ever. Home made cake to boot. Wonderful. Internet $5.00 extra was the fastest I have ever had, anywhere. Just installed a fibre optic system, nice. Will stay again. While en route, I called to confirm a spot. At that time, I asked specifically for a spot for satellite use which we were told yes. Upon checking in, I reminded them of our satellite use need and were responded to with "I will go out and cut down some trees for you." Well, the site we had didn't have satellite access. As expected, a long list of rules were presented at check-in, but the extra rhetoric of complaints was not needed. While we were pulling in to our site, the owner came around and complained about owning the park. We ignored it, but it certainly doesn't make one want to spend their money there. On the good side, the sites are clean, the park is neat, all sites are pull through and fairly easy to get in and out in spite of the number of RVs. We generally don't stay at RV parks due to close proximity to other RVers. Check out time is 10am and the handout states if you are late in checking out, an additional $20 is charged for every additional hour without prior arrangements. More than likely we will not stay here again. The price listed is with Good Sam discount and tax. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great place to stay. The owners are friendly, the other campers were very friendly, sites easy to enter and exit and facilities are clean. I asked the owner about the closed bathroom. Seems as if one of the 5 previous campers decided to spread feces on the walls of the men's bathrooms, twice. While I don't discount the previous review as it is inconvenient for restrooms to be closed, what is the owner supposed to do. Would you have complained if you walked in and there were feces spread all over the wall? The way the codes work on the bathrooms he would have to walk over to the bathroom each time to let someone in. Tough situation! We need to support these independent parks when they provide good places for us to stay. Propane price is very reasonable for a campground and there is a restaurant on site which other campers told me was excellent. We stayed overnight in a travel trailer and will stay here again. The owner gave us some great information on some local places to visit. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

I don't think the owner wants to be in the RV Park business. While the park is fine - we were told that we could not get a code to the women's restroom because it had a plumbing problem. When asked if it would be fixed soon they didn't know. I never saw anyone working on it or in that area in the 2 days we were there. Some male campers nearby said they asked for the code for men's room and were told they couldn't have it and were asked why they want to use his restroom when they have their own RV and that he was tired up cleaning up after people. He also complained about people using their AC. The restrooms remained locked the whole time we were there so no showers either. Regarding the park itself - Sites: Clean, Level with some shade. No air or cable TV but got good DirecTV Satellite. Verizon 4G good. Wifi was Excellent. 30 amp is suspect. Power went out the 2nd morning we were there. It didn't last long but this could be a problem in the summer. We weren't running AC. We would not stay here again although we would go to his restaurant - the ribs were very good.
