This is a beautiful park with many camping options. We stayed in Gilmore Campground, which has full hook-ups. This area opened in late 2018, so hook-ups are all brand new. Sites are angled in a way that provide a lot of privacy. There is a Super 1 Foods 1 - 2 miles up the road. Easy drive to Sandpoint, Sagle, Coeur d'Alene. Surrounded by Lake Pend Oreille. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate is for a companion site. This review is from a 45' motorhome. Stayed in Gilmore loop. All in all a real nice state park. Arrived early and took the toad to the site to check tree clearances. Host allowed me to bring in pole saw to trim a few branches that would scratch paint. After minor trimming, no problem getting into site. Didn't notice may sites in the Gilmore loop that would be a problem. They are close to opening a new loop next to Gilmore that will have 50 sites with sewer hookups. Just about all would easily fit a 45'motorhome. Host indicated these would be first come / first serve when opened (don't know if that is for the remainder of 2018 only). Fewer trees, but still nice and well spaced sites. Did not notice if this loop will have a bathhouse, but for self contained rigs, this will be a great option. Park has lots of hiking and biking trails, beach, boat launch, 5 disc golf courses, good activities for kids, etc. Would return. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Motorhome.

We spent 3 nights here the end of October. During those 3 nights there was between 2-5 other campers in the entire park. Restrooms, museum and swimming beach were all closed. Water was turned off at campsites. No WiFi, 3g Verizon. Days were cool and dry. Wonderful sharing the endless hike/bike trails and quiet campground with tons of wildlife. Park is big rig friendly with lots of spots our 63' could have fit into. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I agreed with all the positive comments about this park. It is very well maintained and spotless. However, as someone else who visited last year in September noted they close the restrooms and showers in all the campgrounds in September. There are the nicest pit toilets I've ever seen available, but they still smell like pit toilets no matter how nice and clean they are. There are no sewer hookups in the campsites. They had an open beach restroom down by the lake that the park clerk directed me too when I enquired about showers at checkin, but she didn't say a word about the campground restrooms being complete closed for the season. I felt I wasn't given full disclosure. Be aware that the campground is far above the lake and most people will want to drive to the beach area, whether for swimming or a hot shower. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Paved roads, paved spacious sites, quiet. Beautiful wooded state park with walking biking trails throughout. Very nice. Large heavily used beach area on a scenic lake with mountains to the east. No wi-fi or tv. Lots of kids enjoying the freedom of bike riding on quiet roads. Small quaint town of Bayview with internet cafe and floating houses. Town of Athol has a decent small grocery store. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed in Gilmore Loop, which has paved roads and fairly level paved sites. Great location just miles from main highway to Coeur d'Alene. Very clean and well looked after. Right on a nice large lake, miles of hiking trails and a historic navy museum within the park. The sites in the Gilmore loop are big and can accommodate large RV's. Some of the other loops have tighter roads and smaller sites. We originally booked for 4 nights and ended up staying 6 as we loved it so much. We will return here. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Best state park in Idaho! Very clean and well maintained sites. Our only disappointment was the closure of showers and washroom facilities in very early September, leaving only pit toilets. Upon arrival we were greeted by our park Hosts and were checked on each day. We had not experienced this in any other Park. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely return next season. We stayed 3 nights. Our site was nearly level and well groomed. The staff at check in were courteous despite being very busy. The park trails are numerous and well marked. The showers have individual locking doors. I recommend leaving nothing on the floor, as there is no curtain. We will return this is a great park. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park (Snowberry Campground) 3 nights while in North Idaho. You have to be careful with site selection. Some sites have the picnic table and tent pad on the left side of the trailer when parked. I prefer to have that stuff on the right side (front) of the trailer, outside the door and under the awning. They don't show those sites in the maps. Watch out for pull-thru sites to the left of the road. Your awning ends up toward the road. There are two dump stations on the way out. Tips for other Campers:

Be aware the bicycle paths are more for mountain bikes. We ride hybrids, but we found out from the host how to ride one great path suitable for our bikes and go to Bayview, ID for lunch at the floating Patio Bar and Grill--excellent. This required the $1 park bike path map to negotiate. Coeur d'Alene is not too far to drive to.

Nice State Park with several loops near a lake, fairly level paved pull through site with water and electric, but no sewer, but there are two different dump stations.
Bathrooms and showers were very clean and modern.
There are a number of hiking trails and an old Navy Brig turned into a small museum.
The park was a Naval training base during WWII.
I thought it was a little pricey for what you got, but we would stay here again if passing through. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park with many miles of hiking rails that we enjoyed immensely. We were in the Gilmore loop but all of the loops were well laid out and each had their own attraction. The restroom building in our loop was amazing, certainly not what I expected for a state park. This place is peaceful and we will definitely return. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park! We were in Gilmore campground, one of 4 individual campgrounds in this large, historic park; this campground's 2 loops are wooded with wide, paved sites (pull-thru and back-in) and electric-water hookups. Waldron campground, the largest, has more open sites and more companion sites, which are grouped close together. Whitetail and Snowberry are deeply wooded with tight, winding roads and smaller campsites, well suited for tents, popups, truck campers and small trailers. Bathhouses varied; those in Gilmore were quite new, with individual, unisex shower rooms. Multiple camp hosts kept them quite clean. Lots of history - the Navy had a big training base here in WWII - nature and beautiful scenery here, as the park is on the shore of Lake Pend d'Oreille. Unfortunately, the smoke from many wildfires limited our enjoyment of the latter. We enjoyed seeing a large flock of wild turkeys, deer, squirrels, and various birds in this park. Quiet, as most of the campgrounds are away from any main roads; a state route does run through the middle of the park but has little nighttime traffic. Would love to come back again; we wish it weren't quite so far away from home. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Our site was paved (asphalt) and had a large gravel patio. Shopping is 15-30 miles away in Heyburn and Coeur d'Alene. Ice cream, sandwiches, laundromat, post office in tiny village of Bayview. Good base for a lot of scenic drives in the area, and fantastic park for bicycles, with many miles of good bike trails. Museum at the Brig in the park well worth the time.

Rate is for non-resident and includes a $10 reservation fee and $5/day motor vehicle fee for our car in tow. Site was paved, 50 amp electric, and water. Good Verizon cell/MiFi reception and good satellite reception. There was a forest fire nearby and many of the day use facilities were closed, but the Gilmore campground loop was open. We stayed at this park during the historic heat wave of July 2015. On July 2nd it was 102 degrees at our site. The site we stayed in (023) is a full shaded pull-through site and made the heat a little more bearable. The campsites are very well maintained and the staff was very courteous. We found a secluded spot on the lake shore and enjoyed the cool water during the heat This park is a 4500 acre former naval base from 1942-1946. A lot of history there if you're in to that. If you bring a boat the boat launch gets very crowded about 10 AM. We will definitely visit this park again. We camped at Farragut State Park in a Tent Trailer.
