is a radically different kind of KOA: it's set right in downtown Meridian, an oasis in a sea of urban franchise stores, for people who like the camping lifestyle but without a hint of wilderness. Actually, they've done a good job of giving it a resort feel: Although it was mostly sunny, there were trees all around, most of them in the autumn fashions of red or gold. The campground is surrounded by a wall to hide the city bustle. Like other resort parks, they've packed the sites too tightly, but I've stayed at worse. I chose thia campground because it split my hurried drive back to Olympia into nice chunks. If I return to visit this part of Idaho for an extended period, I shall probably select one in a more rural setting. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This park has a long term section in the "back" of the park. Unfortunately, for us anyway, the long term users have taken over the perimeter of the "short term" section. It seems like this RV Park is turning into a mobile home park. It was quiet at night went we arrived. Then someone with a motorcycle with loud pipes with no regard for quiet hours moved into a site just across from our site which was one of the perimeter sites, apparently set up for a long duration . They like to take their bike out during quiet hours. Especially after 11PM. This was very annoying and overshadowed the nicer aspects of the park. We were anxious to move on because of it. Many of the residents in the perimeter sites have multiple cars making maneuvering tricky and exasperating. Since many of the sites are long term those people are up early slamming car doors evidently scurrying off to work. This is not what we expected from a KOA. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access to and within the RV park. Big rig friendly. All paved roads, level sites and kept clean. The bathrooms were a bit dated, but clean. This park is in a convenient location for all shopping including a tire servicing company next door, which was helpful since we needed to get our tow vehicle tires rotated and aligned. The park is about 7 miles to the Greenbelt trail which was a good place for walking. Also, about 7 miles to downtown Boise where they have lots of good restaurants and a Trader Joes. The downside of this park are the number of people that live in the park full time. While all their sites are kept clean and uncluttered, they create a lot more traffic than the typical traveling RVer. We had a site at the entrance of the park and we had cars coming and going at all times of the night. Of course most of them pull a 5th wheel so they are noisy diesel pickup trucks coming and going at night. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Motorhome.

This park considers itself to be part of the KOA "Journey" park group which implies that it's OK for a night or two but doesn't try to claim it's a destination. With that categorization, this park is significantly nicer than many other KOA Journey parks we've encountered. The roads are all paved and there's nicely trimmed grass between the sites. The sites themselves are smooth gravel with a small "sidewalk like" patio. Each site has a picnic table. Our pull-through was plenty long enough for our 40' MH and our toad. The sites are quite narrow with no privacy between them. There are some trees around the perimeter of the park but there is little shade. Satellite TV was easy to access. Both Verizon and AT&T worked well and the data streams were very fast. As others have noted, the park is nearly full all the time and there are lots of long term residents, but all the sites we saw were quite neat. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is located in a major shopping and restaurant area. Virtually any store you want is within a mile or two. The only exception was Costco which is ~6 miles away. Traffic in the vicinity of the park is heavy during evening rush hour but the park is less that half a mile from the freeway so it isn't all that bad an experience.

We stayed here 4 nights visiting friends in Meridian. Our check-in went smoothly and I found that they had added two days to our original 2 day reservation as I requested, if someone else cancelled. It was a very busy, packed-full campground while we were there. It is a large park, and had more full-timers than I've ever seen at a KOA. Never the less, the ones I met were friendly and the sites were neat and quiet. The park wifi was too slow for me, but my Verizon MiFi signal was the fastest I've ever clocked. Our 8 pound dog visited 2 of their their really-small dog 'runs' but didn't like them. I found the grass around the office parking lot, and on the outside street, to be more to her liking. Parking for our tow vehicle (in front of, or next to our trailer) was sufficient but snug. Trees at most sites offer some shade for several hours a day. The park seemed well maintained and there were plenty of staff to be seen. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Restaurants we loved in Meridian: Had a great Filet Mignon at Kahootz Steak and Ale House - a very informal, small bar & restaurant. Ginos Italian restaurant was excellent, and a pleasant setting. Big Daddys BBQ food was terrific - try the tasty "50-50" sandwich for lunch or dinner, or their generous pancakes for brunch. Grimaldi's Coal Brick-Oven Pizzaria served 6 of us (2 x 18 inch New York style pizzas) - excellent!

The reason for "Bad Service".... No wifi. Sure they say they have wifi however all four of our devices would not pick up a signal. I really get tired of giving these parks a pass for lack of wifi! This is part of the "service" they advertise and we pay for! We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent two nights here in late September. Facilities were well kept. Bathrooms were nice and in good repair. A bit tricky finding the road into the campground, and we missed it on the first pass. (Not too bad to circle the block and come back.) Wifi worked well in the clubhouse but not at the rig. Site was gravel and level. Very tight. Rig behind us was near our bumper. Quite a few long-term residents in the park. Not far from the expressway, which is always a plus when passing through. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Motorhome.

We were on an end row pull-through site. It was long enough for us to keep our truck on the site but because the end of the site curved, we felt that the corner of the trailer was vulnerable. We put out our reflective triangles just in case. The campground is very large & appears to be well cared for. Handy for shopping in Meridian. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

KOA. Why so expensive for such tiny sites? We got a back in site that was just barely large enough to fit our 35' fifth wheel. No room for the truck, had to park next to our site! Our back end was less than 6 inches from the rv behind us. Butted right up next to each other, and side to side not much better. If both rv's had their awnings out, they would've overlapped by an inch or two! They did have a few pull-thru's that would have been much nicer for our size rig. Permanent resident rvers mainly around the perimeter of the park and most are very nice! Bathrooms and pool area nice and clean. Sites had a few cigarette butts here and there, but for the most part the park was clean. The so-called "dog-run" was not. It was a chain linked area of about 12x12. Our dog wouldn't even go into it as it was very P smelly, so we walked our dog out along the street leading into the park. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a stopover for 1 night. The pull-through was long enough for our 5th wheel to stay hooked to our truck. Site was level. Noticed that the back-in sites are extremely close together. (Glad we got what we did.) Campground was excited about their new high speed Wi-fi. We were only able to log on, couldn't even download our email. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We also stayed in site 25 like another reviewer. The campground map makes the site look very nice and wide. It isn't. It was short for our 35 foot Motorhome and narrow. We stayed two nights and many RVs coming in for one night got much better sites. AVOID SITE 25 IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. I also agreed that the staff need some customer Sevice training. The nicest person was our guide to our site. The laundry room was great and all but one machine was working and you can hang out in the lounge area which was very comfortable. Long time KOA member and have enjoyed the fact that KOA's are usually well kept, staff friendly and have nice spots. This was our first time at this park. We were put in spot 25 at the end of the row. It is the smallest of spots in that row. The sewer connection was at the rear of the spot and we could not connect. When we put out slides out on the drivers side they were hanging over in the road due to the very narrow width. A motorhome should not be put on this spot. That is just the nuisance part of the stay, the main reason for the low review was the stench of sewer that was overwhelming. We had to close all the windows to get away from the smell. I noticed that most of the hoses were just stuck in the pipes and not regulated at all. I brought my problems up to the staff and they just commented they have had motorhomes there before and didn't even address the stench. Last stay for us at this KOA. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Motorhome.

We are been staying here monthly for a while. The office staff definitely need some training in Customer Service. The sites are very tight and the parking is a joke. We have a 5th wheel and the back was parked over two sprinklers; unbeknownst to us the water from the sprinkler was getting up under the material that is on the bottom of the 5th wheel. The park did not care that we had to place holes in the material just to release the water that had built up. I would not recommend this place. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here off and on since they opened many years ago, pre KOA. I have been critical in prior reviews. But things have changed. Check in, with reservations, took about 1 minute. Cable TV and wifi were excellent! Avoid pull thru site #11 if you have driver side slide outs, there is a major power distribution panel on that side. All sites tend to be narrow but adequate. Noise levels are minimal if there are no car races at the nearby racetrack. We camped at Boise / Meridian KOA in a Travel Trailer.
