This is the oldest state park in the Idaho system and is laid out in fairly dense timber. These comments are for the Hawley's Landing Campground. The majority of the sites are shaded for at least part of the day. The interior roads are paved and the sites are packed dirt. We did have a bit of a problem with tracking dirt into the RV. Most of the sites are well separated. Our site was very close to level side to side. Some of the back-in sites could be a bit tough to get in to for larger rigs. Roads could be narrow for large rigs. I would think that satellite dish use could be problematic and the only WiFi is at the visitor center. Connection to sewer a bit high causing a bit of a drainage problem. For people that are Idaho residents there are numerous discounts available. If you book on line be sure to check the right boxes. There is a $10 fee to Reserve America for online booking. There was more road noise from ID 5 than I would have expected, We would stay here again. We camped at Heyburn State Park - Hawley's Landing - Plummer in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Long (75 mi) and interesting bike trail along old railroad grade from the Wallace area to Plummer including a crossing of part of the lake. Google Trail of the Coeur D'Alenes

Really liked this park. It is nice and shady! There were mosquitoes when we were here but we put up our screen room over the picnic table and were fine. The park roads are a bit narrow with lots of trees so it could be difficult for those with huge rigs. We were in a pull-through, space 34. I like that this is less expensive than Washington State Parks! We would have rated this a ten if there was no road noise. We camped at Heyburn State Park - Hawley's Landing - Plummer in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here for an overnight while on Ride Idaho because of the location and found the sites to be very shaded but also not so level. We made it work and used the clean shower/restrooms. Rate appears to be a bit pricey for a state park with apparently no amenities but we had no other choice. Very tough getting reservations for the motorhome but we persisted and one popped up on line. Would stay here again and enjoy the park system and lake more. We camped at Heyburn State Park - Hawley's Landing - Plummer in a Motorhome.

Nice park. Very busy. Lots of shade trees, but they drip some sap, which seemed to crystallize so hopefully not a problem. Restrooms are cleaned daily. We got a senior discount (I think). Daily entrance fees of $5.00 make the daily rate a bit high IMHO. WI-FI is free for 20 minutes and then you are charged a fee. We had good cell service here. Convenient to the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes for bicycling. You can drive to Coeur d'Alene and Spokane, WA for shopping (and looking at new campers!) We camped at Heyburn State Park - Hawley's Landing - Plummer in a Fifth Wheel.

Though this is an older campsite, the basic services are all there, clean, and in good working order. The campground roads were a bit dusty at the end of a hot, dry summer. The 73 mile long Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes is a short bike ride away. There is a nice beach, swimming area, and picnic site at Rocky Point, about one mile down the highway. The staff in the park were friendly and helpful. We camped at Heyburn State Park - Hawley's Landing - Plummer in a Tent Trailer.
