Sep 2019 - $20.00
Decent OTA TV. Near zero LTE signal barely 3g outside. Super state park. Great hosts. Low key easy camp. Good power flat dry sites, even in the rain. - Ace924
Jul 2019 - $20.00
This is a nice campground in Central Illinois. It is an easy 2 hour drive from the Southwest suburbs of Chicago and is very quiet. Decent night sky view (for Illinois) and located right on a nice sized lake, well-stocked for fishing. The campground (Gander Bay RV Park on the in-park signage) has only one big "loop" with sites lining the outside generally offering a little more privacy and better views, and internal roads where the campers are packed in a little tighter. Knocked off one star for leveling - there are a lot of sites that will provide a good leveling challenge, make sure to bring extra boards. Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. The State Park itself around the campground is definitely showing signs of the Illinois budget cuts and could use a bit of work (mowing trails, cleaning the pit toilets, etc.). However, it is still a very nice and scenic park considering it is in the middle of the Illinois flat lands. - Bogie71

They need to mow the grass, it's too tall. No soap in the container in the bathroom and fire ring full of ashes to the top. - Moparchic

I'm in complete agreement with the July 2019 review. In fact, it was that review that brought us here, so thank you! We were concerned about road noise, but frankly it was never an issue. The sites are level and the hookups positioned conveniently. The only caution I would raise is...we have a 30' travel trailer and it was a little challenging getting into site 9 and keeping the tow vehicle on the pavement. I have to imagine longer trailers might be a little tight in some sites. Finally, I needed to use the 50 to 30 amp adapter because the post only had the 50 amp plug and a 120 volt outlet. - Alphonzo

This is a very nice city park in Gibson city, Illinois. There are 9 campsites including one handicap. The sites are very level on concrete and all have 30 amp and water and has a dump site. You are allowed to stay 7 days for every 30 days. It is first come, first served. You pick out your site and then go to police station to pay. Dump station on site. - mcirv
Oct 2017 - $36.00
Was ok for a quick stopover but wouldn't go back. The person at the front desk needs customer service training, was texting instead of helping me. No drinking water - the water spigots all had warnings, not well kept, lake was pretty. Sites were just kinda open field. We prepaid and our amount paid was $10 higher than posted amount. - srync

Stopped at the office to check-in and was met by a young man that did not seem to be very enthused about his job. I noticed a "road closed" sign leading into the campground so I asked the young man if that would affect me getting to my site (#6) and he said it would not. I proceeded to my site and discovered that the road leading into my "pull-thru' site was completely blocked by construction equipment. So, I had to go the "wrong way" to access my site and back-in. Was not a problem to back-in but many neighbors had their vehicles parked along the road and it made for interesting maneuvering. It sure would have helped the entire situation if the office had provided accurate information for accessing the site. Water hydrants are located in various locations. Someone had a hose and filter hooked up to the hydrant closest to my site. Creates awkward situation when you have to disconnect someone's hose so you can fill your tank. The site required almost 12 inches of lift to level my 5th wheel. My neighbors (both sides) loved their campfires. They let them smolder all day and all night so it was impossible to open my door and enjoy the nice weather. The dump station is quite a distance from the campground, actually located at the boat ramp. Definitely not convenient to dump on the way out of the park. Verizon service was ok (4G with two bars). Was able to pick-up 17 channels with antenna. It is a nice park that has a lot of potential but I will not stay here again. - Alaska Jim
Oct 2015 - $25.00
Just needed a campsite for one night so this was a pretty good choice for our 40' fifth wheel. Site was a long pull thru that was fairly level. Easy access to I-39 and not much noise from the highway. Electric was 50 amp, no water at the campsites but there was a spigot nearby. Very pretty campground with some fall colors. - Patricia Sterkowitz
Sep 2019 - $24.00
Older fairgrounds but the electric hook up was excellent. Sites are a bit "mish-mash" - but large with plenty of room. Grass sites. Would not recommend a stay if it has recently rained! We had great weather, plenty of room and friendly neighbors! - 2 Chiefs
Jun 2019 - $24.00
This area has had a tremendous amount of rain and, as a result, the park was a muddy mess. Not the fault of anyone - of course. However, we called a few days before arrival and the day before arrival and were told that they had a site for us that was on gravel and not muddy. Unfortunately it was a muddy mess. However, the camp host and a camper were so helpful and friendly you couldn't help but appreciate their efforts. We would stay there again as the park was very pretty, and under normal weather conditions, would be a great place. - jomark
