This county-operated campground advertises suitability for up to 40' RVs. That is true, but does not take into account the width of the RV, including slides. The power supply is near the drivers side rear of the site and a tall pipe with hooks on it is located on the passenger side closer to the front of the site. These 2 items are about 12' apart. Many rigs would not be able to fit into the site and be able to open their slides and door. Despite the availability of a more suitable site, staff would not allow a move. The park is lush and wooded. It's proximity to Chicago makes it a good choice for visiting the city. Sites 1-10 have electric only. Sites 7 & 8 are concrete and might be meant for campers with disabilities but are not designated. Those 2 sites do not have the obstructing poles. The other electric sites are a combination of gravel and grass, slightly off level. This campground is best for renters or RV's less than 30'. There's no sewer at any sites and no dump station at the park. None of the sites have water hookups. - JJMCS

Nightly rate reflects weekend, non-Cook County resident fee. Very nice park with adequate campsites. Nice views of lake. Shower/restrooms were clean and usable. Only problem was the well water at the campground. Since there are no water connections at the sites, you had to fill the camper water tank. They claim the water is not drinkable, so we brought good water in containers. What we discovered is the well water contains iron, which makes it look rust colored. They were working on a water purification system while we were there. Overall, we enjoyed that campground as a base for exploring Chicago. There were transit stations nearby to get into the city. - AlreadyGone
May 2018 - $45.00
Had a nice site overlooking the lake. The MAIN reason we stayed here was its proximity to Chicago. 1/2 hour to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Great to be able to set up shop that close to the city. - ianschneiderman
May 2018 - $60.00
Lakeside tent and RV sites in forest near Chicago. Beautiful, quiet setting. Narrow paved roads and, narrow, level gravel sites, but back-in access was acceptable (most sites have gravel turning apron). Park is new, with lots of grass and young trees. Lots of dog walking area around lake. There are fire rings and picnic tables at each site. Restrooms are clean, but showers are not (women's side had dirt under bench and mulitple day hair buildup on the floor. Also, well water has caused brown rust stains on everything, so it looks unappealing, and water has a very unpleasant mineral odor and taste. A sign claims they are intending to install a filtration system. RV sites have 50/30/20 electric, but no water. There is one spigot at the office, but it is connected to a garden hose and I would not put that water in my tank anyway, so bring your tank full from outside. There are variable length sites, so choose carefully. There is room at front of RV sites to diagonally park a vehicle. No at-site sewer, but there is a dump station. Very over priced based on lack of at-site sewer and water issues. This place would be an 8 if it had at-site, decent water. We would not stay again unless they improve the water quality. - LoneWolf

It is a basic campground, the only amenity is the lake. The grounds are clean, the rest rooms are in need of updating, but relatively clean. Several of the spots had new gravel added. It was a quiet park with a lot of long term workers. Decent place, but overpriced. - esta34950

We camped here for 5 months-work related. It was during the spring/summer months and the park was clean and well-kept. It is located in the country on large acreage, and as such, the road on the property leading up to the office is gravel, as are the campsites. It is a lovely setting with large shade trees, lots of green grass, and a large lake. Both the lady who manages the park and her son are nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return when in the area. - rollngstonz

We decided to give this campground a try for its location. Despite all of the outdated reviews we gave it a try. I'm glad we did. We had no issues. It was quiet, relaxing, and exactly what we needed. - AdventureIsMyMiddleName

We were traveling with our fifth wheel when we had a mechanical issue happen. We knew we needed to get to a campground so we were off the road. We called Martin's Campground, explained our situation and their response was come on in. We limped to the campground and was greeted by very friendly staff. We explained we had no idea who to call for repair or how long it would take. The owner gave us a name of a local company that he highly recommended for the repair. The staff doing our check in told us not to worry how long the repair took as they had a spot of us for as long as we needed it. For those who have had a mechanical issue happen while on the road, your biggest concern is to get somewhere safe and where the issue can be taken care. This campground provided those for us!! The campground is very well maintained and it shows that the owners care about their business. It is easy to get in and out of the park. Internal roads are in good shape. Our grassy site was just the right size - plenty of room between us and our neighbor. I would highly recommend this park. We were able to get our issue taken care of early the next morning and were back on the road. Thanks to the park! - shook17

Lot of full time older RVs. They did have an evening BBQ that we were invited to. Puppy running loose and we asked a coupe guys if they knew who's, one guys said his. They came to get the puppy and started giving my dog a vet check, trying to look at his teeth. in his ears, etc. Only spent one night passing through. - Edd505

Perfect for an overnight stay west of Chicago off interstate 80. Helpful staff saved me a satellite friendly pull through when I called that morning. Gravel roads with sun and shady spots. Lawn was neatly trimmed. Easy check in. - Mike & Laurie

Jul 2010 - $90.00
This is the 3rd year that we have camped on site of the Chicagoland Speedway for the summer race weekend in July. It is a bit expensive at $365 for the 3 days, but what isn't when staying near a Nascar event? I've seen hotels charge $200 or more per night as well, so in my opinion it's worth it to be on site and not have to drive back and forth. Check in began this year at 9am on Thursday: was VERY hectic and about an hour wait in line to get down to the campground. They need to work on better moving people to where they need to be, instead of mixing infield, speedway ridge and lakeside into 3 lines and then directing where to go. I think they need to open 3 different gates to make it easier and faster getting to your site and setting up. You must have the decals sent from the track affixed to the front windshield of the tow vehicle and the other on a window of your trailer. Once arriving at the campground entrance gate, we were greeted again and given two welcome packets filled with advertisements and information and nice little gift. We had no problems finding our spot as they are all are clearly marked. We had plenty of room with our 40 foot trailer on one spot and our friends 24 foot on the other. They do offer a potable water service that costs $40 per service and you must purchase tickets in advance for the service. The ticket tent is easily located at the front of the campground. The waste management trucks travel throughout the campground throughout the day for those wishing to use their service. The portable toilets were way cleaner this year than past years. However there could be more throughout the campground. They did not have enough toilets in my opinion. The shower truck was very nice and clean. The only problem with the shower truck is that it is open from 6:00 am until noon and then again from 6:00 pm until midnight. A big line started to form from 7:30 am and you could end up having to stand in line waiting for a shower for 30+ minutes. They have great water pressure and are hot instantly. They are not timed so you can shower as long as you wish thus the problem of the long line! Overall the campground is very clean and well kept. Grass could have been cut shorter. Bring your ant killer. We had little tiny ants all over our site. Noise was minimal but to be expected being at the races. They have a camp store on grounds for ice etc, but be prepared to spend $5 per small bag of ice and $4 for bottle of water and $7 for a plastic bottle of beer. They also provide a tram service to get you to the front gate. The tram service still needs work, they haven't gotten it to move a smoothly as it should be and the wait for a tram gets to be lengthy. I do recommend staying at this campground. We will more then likely coming back again next year. - campingfamof5

Unlike most NASCAR adjacent camping: Chicagoland does not allow pets. It's only open 4 days prior to the race and is very expensive. Not worthwhile. - exsailor81

This is the second year that we have camped on site of the Chicagoland Speedway for the summer race weekend in July. Check in begins on Wednesday at noon before the race weekend. We arrived at 7:00 pm on the first day of check in and had no problem getting checked in. The process was very speedy. You must have the decals sent from the track affixed to the front windshield of the tow vehicle and the other on a window of your trailer. Once arriving at the campground entrance gate we were greeted again and given two welcome packets filled with advertisements and information and nice little gift. This is not a campground. This is a transient workplace for people like carnival workers, pipeline workers, welders, carpenters, and workers who are seasonal. The camp host seems nice. Place is very run down. From throwing my trash out before leaving, I saw that they do like their beer. Had I known, I would have stayed elsewhere. - pvcox
Apr 2009 - $19.00
Older park in the middle of nowhere. Under new management. They started to put in a new bathhouse in a park model. All pull through sites. They were also in the process of putting gravel on the sites to get them out of the mud. The land is pretty low and it floods with every rainstorm. - Glen_mich
Jul 2008 - $32.00
Under new management so this review is based on current conditions. Park is clean, good interior roads. Sites are long with sufficient room for big rigs and slides. Few trees so satellite OK. Low water pressure - very dirty water requires filtration!! Rest rooms and laundry very dirty, dated, need replacement - no cooling evident. would only use this park for an overnight, about three miles west of I57, some road noise from busy road adjacent to park. Owners very accommodating and will probably clean this park up given enough time to make required updates. - endlesstravels

Sep 2018 - $35.00
As you all know, this is the only option for RV parking anywhere near downtown Chicago. Everyone warned us that this is only a truck yard with no amenities, but here's why it sucked. Going to a volleyball tournament at Oak Street Beach, so staying here would be cool because we could ride bikes along the waterfront, walk to Chinatown, etc. Called three times - a month out, 10 days out, and the day before. "Sure, we have plenty of room - bring $35 cash per night and you're all set!" But when we arrive, someone has rented out the entire yard for a trade show. I get it-that's what the yard is for. But don't tell us we are good to go three times, have us drive all the way there without a TOAD, and then tell us tough luck. - Doug2518
Jul 2018 - $35.00
What everyone has said: It's a parking lot between a rail line and two freeways with semis coming and going at all hours. There is nothing to recommend this place except its location. Come with full water tanks, there is none there. Note: the entrance is the one where the yard office building is, the first left after turning onto Moe St. Park as near to the (only) islands of trees at the McCormick end of the yard as you can. Avoid parking between trucks, one might back into you at night. We had no security concerns. There is a guard circulating somewhere in the lot all night. There is a bike path, a nature trail and a seawall that go for miles. Good AT&T, no Wifi, and surprisingly only 4 channels OTA. - bobcovey
Jul 2018 - $35.00
We only stayed here one night. It's not really a campsite, it's a big trucks and buses parking area that is comfortable for RVs too. Very close to the city center (Millennium Park is 5 min. by car). UberXL (6 people) costed 17$ to the Millennium Park. On the night we were there, there were a few more RVs. Can use generator - nobody cares, there's a lot of noises from the road and a train. But as I said, it's in the middle of the city. - chenof

Best sites are 1 thru 10 and are more level & longer than the higher number sites. FYI I spoke with a couple of other campers that were moved 3-4 times within the first 5 days upon arrival. We did not experience the problem as we spent just 1 night. Grocery stores and restaurants are plentiful in the area. For us it was convenient stop over on our way to the Chain O Lakes in Spring Grove IL. - Poe Dog

If coming in from the North on US-41 do not allow your GPS to convince you to turn left on hwy 231 Veterans Memorial Hwy. There are two low clearances marked as 13 foot 6 inches. It is much easier to go a little further south on 41 and turn left on 133rd Ave instead. We used this campground due to its location close to friends we were visiting in the local area. The power and water pressure were good although we had to borrow more water hose from the host in order to reach the shared water access located on every other site. If you want to get in roof mounted dish service, try to get sites 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10. We were in site 29 and there was no way we were going to get the sat dish to come in. We would stay at this campground again if in the area. - D&K

On our return trip north, we stayed at this campground overnight. We had a pull through site, 50 amp service and water hookup. Dump station is available. The campground was quiet and well maintained. If you want to visit the restaurant or casino, you call for a valet and a driver will pick you up at your RV site free of charge. - Jo Mo
Oct 2019 - $40.00
This is a very nice Casino CG. Be aware that the rate does not include the $10 amenity fee charged for breakfast, health club and Internet. During regular season the price is $10 higher. Despite their assurance that there is Internet, it is only available in the hotel. We stayed here twice this year and it did not work in the CG either time. Also, the food for breakfast has deteriorated over the past several years. However, sites are nice and paved. Plenty of space around and behind Campers. One of the few Chicago area campgrounds. - Ronald Ames
Oct 2019 - $50.00
Rate includes the mandatory "Hotel Amenity Fee" of $10/night. Taxes added $5.20/night. This is a standard RV Park with the only local attraction being the Hollywood Casino itself. (There is also a large truck parking lot that RVers can park overnight if you do not want hookups.) Check in at the hotel. W&E at site, dump station behind hotel. Slots are concrete pads with gravel aprons. Security patrols frequently. Rate includes small breakfast at the hotel (scrambled eggs, sausage patties, cereal, bread, bagel, coffee, juice), business room, gym, and a $5/day coupon redeemable at the casino restaurants. Shower/toilet house requires a key card that must be returned at check-out. 1 bar with AT&T. - LogicalThinker
